  1. Damnit kittykat!!! "This is not a woman’s head in a box, you sick freak!.” “This is a woman’s head in a freezer, and it’s supposed to represent the preservation of love forever and ever!” I'm just kidding of course, it's Dennis that is the psychopath... Loved Frank's flag...it was so Frank and ties back to their Nazi relative from the first season....although I can't remember if that was Frank's relative or their mothers.
  2. I watched the Disney night, and it was my first time watching So Dear to My Heart, and I have to say I fell in love w/ the film from this first viewing. It's just a wonderful film. I agree about Babes in Toyland, it is a chore to get through, it's very schmaltzy....it seems like something NBC would produce for one of their live musicals. I'm watching Room for One More, and I love this movie so much. I first fell in love w/ it about a year ago after viewing it on TCM. It's such a great film.
  3. They have been showing the latest season of Cooks Country, season 8, in my area and something seems off about this season. Bridget seems strange, Julia's new hair is a shock, and now they do the taste-testing in a garage that looks creepy.
  4. I love the Bishop's Wife as well, it's one of my go to holiday movies. I noticed that TCM was using the master where the scene where Dudley and the Professor are in front of the old church pops back up in a scene later in the movie. When they released the film on blu-ray a few years ago this is where the error came from and they eventually sent out replacement discs for it. I was just surprised that TCM was still using the error master. I wish I had recorded all the movies that Tina Fey picked for her guest host stint b/c I saw the one for That's Entertainment and I loved the banter b/t she and Osborne, plus I loved how she got Robert to razz on the interviews in that film, such as Elizabeth Taylor's faux-British accent appearing and disappearing, Mickey Rooney's interview being shot strangely, and so on and so on. It was fun seeing Robert let loose like that, and it makes me see a little more into his off-screen persona. I can just imagine how much fun and gossipy he could get at an intimate cocktail party after getting a little liquored up. I see that TCM will be showing Wait Until Dark next week...I've seen this film a handful of times and I hope we can have a fun discussion on the relationship b/t Audrey Hepburn's character and her husband b/c it's a doozy imo. I understand him wanting her to learn to do things on her own and be self-sufficient, but man he was a dick. After all she went through at the end, he still forced her to gain her composure and refused to come to her, it was just a horrible dickish move.
  5. I loved it, and to be honest my Star Wars love has flamed out over the years. I went in w/ mediocre expectations but I felt it was a great picture w/ just a few hits and misses. The Falcon reveal was surprising to me, I enjoyed it immensely. I was thinking that perhaps Rey was Ben's twin sister or something, which could still happen, but that would be too much of a re-hash of Luke and Leia being separated. The main thing I was disappointed in was the reveal of Kylo Ren's parentage/identity so early on. I think just the hints were enough and the reveal when Han called Ben out at the crux of the movie would have had a bigger impact, as would have Ren removing his mask there instead of earlier in the film. It just felt strange that he is so quick to remove his mask, or was that Rey using some of the 'force' during that interrogation scene w/o realizing it. Loved Chewie nailing his godson basically, that was damn awesome. What I didn't like was seeing all of Abrams stable of regulars in this film that appear through out the Abrams-verse of television/films...some of the dialogue was too tongue in cheek as well, it honestly made me think I was watching an episode of Felicity. So how did Poe get off the planet after the crash but not look for Finn? I'm confused by that, it just made no sense to me.
  6. anneofcleves, you just listing the ingredients for that 'chickenetti' recipe from the Duggars made me almost gag when you got to the Velveeta.
  7. I too felt it was odd she turned the anniversary dinner into a family affair. You can't tell me those boys couldn't have fixed there own sandwiches at the house. I was glad she finally explained why she was calling the dinner "prime rib for five" when the non-college daughter wasn't there for the actual dinner. I loved that everything she made was all just re-hashes of previous meals we have seen her prepare over and over and over and over and over and over...wait what season are we on...oh yeah, over and over and over again.
  8. What was w/ that line, it was just odd....
  9. I think Steve should have been the one to go home this round, but I knew as soon as they showed the shot of Lorraine giving the eye to Haley's mason jar dessert that it was over. I do think Lorraine is a little stuck up about some of the things we do here in the states. I'm pretty sure it was Hayley vs Steve in the end, and Lorraine kept harping about the simplicity of Hayley's dessert that swayed Duff and Nancy to change votes, even though all three agreed it was spot on flavor wise.
  10. Wow. I don't care for new-Phil at all, but damn if I didn't tear up as we watched it all go down hill during surgery as it should have. There is no other way that situation could have turned out, so i'm glad they went there (that we know). I'm really loving Mary Steenburgen here, I always forget her being an actual Academy Award winning actress, and not just Mrs. Ted Danson. I'm curious as to how Mike will fit in w/ the group when he eventually arrives. I'm afraid it will be a rehash of new-Phil's arrival w/ all the girls swooning over him, and after the eventual Tandy/Mike re-bonding that there will be jealousy and more Tandy foolishness.
  11. I don't know where they can go w/ this cliffhanger, I mean it was obvious he aimed for Elizabeth's car and she was shown in the process of getting in the car. What irks me more is this will be the second time now that we will/might have a PTSD Elizabeth after a traumatizing life or death situation. I was glad that the writers finally stopped skirting around Bess not supposed to be knowing that Henry is back w/the CIA and all that bullshit. It was ridiculous that they would have left her out of the loop like that from the beginning. I too love the family scenes, I was wanting more decorating the tree and minor family squabbles w/ the entire family.
  12. I get Alicia's anger at Eli over what he did, but I agree w/ everyone else, if she wanted to be w/ Will she would have. She was the one who chose to end things w/ him, even after her kids, well Grace anyways, gave their blessing for just wanting their mom to be happy. I will be curious as to where Alicia will direct her wrath about this revelation...I can see Peter getting the brunt of it, but then that would mean that JM would have to share the screen w/ cast members from the previous season of this show.
  13. That was good, now if only TCM would reach out to the Academy and tell them to use this just as it is for the next telecast.
  14. Why is everyone surprised that there is a break? There is always two breaks for this show, one the week of Thanksgiving and the second in late December in order to stretch this series out longer than it needs to. If anything, be more pissed that FX has pushed back the far superior show the Americans back from their usual February premier.
  15. Well to be fair the GG are nothing more than a celebrity booze party that is televised. Those awards and nominations have no standing whatsoever. It's just the HFPA's way of being able to party w/ the biggest names in the entertainment industry, so don't take Gaga's nomination as some confirmation of her acting ability.
  16. This season to me feels like RM decided to do a soft-core porn version of AHS and include Gaga to get the gays hooked since he lost Lange. At least soft-core porn has a plot you can follow from a to b. So the Countess wanted the forbidden wing reinforced w/a steel-door and cameras so she can watch her enemies for the rest of her life? How...stupid.
  17. I really can't stand this season, but this is one of these shows where i've been in since Murder House and just can't turn away. The stunt casting of Gaga was the main turn off for me, but I tried it out anyways. I have to say it's the surrounding cast of characters that keeps me coming back, especially this season as Bates, Peters, Winningham, and Basset are really bringing their A-game. I was shocked we got more of Basset's character backstory since she has been barely there for over 3/4 of the season, but damn if she doesn't bring it.
  18. I loved this episode, it covered/confirmed everything we have all talked about regarding Gretchen and her use of medication. I loved the end scene, it would have been the perfect series finale if we didn't already know it was renewed for a third season. Lindsay and Paul singing was great, but I felt bad for her at the end b/c she still doesn't love him like he loves her. I forgot about the "side-car" quote, so wow, great callback. If anything they should have replayed that quote over the scene of her horrified look when she saw the side-car and the ride home.
  19. I never thought much about Nancy and Lorraine not liking one another, but on this episode I totally bought that it was more than just a show for the camera. I think it's more about Nancy not caring for Lorraine and her tastes. I'm as crass as they come, but I know when to speak my mind and when not to and Nancy calling out Lorraine not being able to taste everything b/c she just "nibbles" on the food was rude...but that's my opinion of course. I get why Duff and Lorraine just nibble on the food b/c it's a lot of food to go through, especially at the beginning. I couldn't be a judge on these shows mainly b/c my hatred for coconut and nuts. As for my hatred of Maeve, I don't know how to explain it really, but I think it's her crazy eyes, and her hair color and the fact that like I mentioned upthread at some point that she does seem like she would be hardcore if you didn't care for her food, even if you were polite in just saying it wasn't your taste. I think she would talk shit about you behind your back...or straight to your face, w/o blinking an eye. As for the dancing guy, I can't recall his name...Steve I think. He just comes off like he's overcompensating for something. I don't know if it's b/c he is gay and he feels he has something to prove ( I'm gay as well so i'm not trying to malign him ) but something just strikes me as off about him. I think this whole prancing ballerina shtick is a mask for the camera.
  20. God I love Kristen Dunst in this role. I can't figure out who should take home the Emmy for the series this year, Kristen or Jean Smart...I hope they don't both submit in the same categories of Lead and Supporting. This episode I was just so on the edge of my seat during the actual massacre, and I agree about the UFO, I thought it was too a figment of their imaginations, but damned if everyone didn't see it.
  21. I loved Carol's bedazzled boots for Melissa, but I especially loved how she got regular non-bedazzled boots as well. I love that Carol can be self-aware like that, knowing she and her sensibilities might not be everyone's cup of tea. I was glad that Melissa accepted the boots w/ an open heart and we even saw her wearing them. Gail stiffing Phil like that was such a bitch move, I understand why she did it, but I was still pissed.
  22. I too thought Steve (can't stand him) should have won over Maeve (really can't stand her). Steve had all the elements, the crack of the caramel mostly. I did think it was ridiculous that Lorraine thought the berries was very non-holiday in Hayley's dessert. Seriously?! Berries are a year round decorating go to.
  23. Great episode...I was scared we were going to get another epic rant from Gretchen when Jimmy came in wanted her to explain it again, but it was beautiful how she tried to explain it in the simplest terms to him. They were both tired of hurting one another. I too cried when Gretchen realized she really needed Jimmy and was glad he stayed. I can't figure where this side of Jimmy is coming from though, b/c this is a side we have really never experienced before. As for Lindsey and the being pregnant, didn't she use Paul's sperm that was in the freezer a few weeks back...that was her plan to get him back by blackmailing him right? I feel bad b/c she finally has let him move on and now...this. I guess now we will see how noble Paul really is, will he leave his new girl to be w/ the mother of his child that he still loves as well or will he write Lindsey and the baby off.
  24. If they don't kill Ward this season I think i'm going to be done w/ this show. This is just getting ridiculous at this point. I mean seriously...I would have loved it if Coulson would have just made the kill shot from the air and taken Ward out as he jumped into the Monolith portal. Hell...bring Daisy, have her earthquake the room and knock everyone off their feet then take out each Hydra goon and save Fitz and Simmons. Word to the poster upthread who said Ward is becoming a "special snowflake" like Daisy at this point. Seeking of Daisy, I loved how she felt she need to rush to Coulson's side after Roz's death...I couldn't roll my eyes hard enough at that. Of course, who did we have to go to for the most intel on Ward...but his one true lady love...Sky..er Daisy.
  25. But she wasn't at first though...right? The whole being in the cell and then shooting the monk follower and the escaping w/ Bruce, then eventually getting caught by Galavant was all part of the con to get Bruce to say he loved her. Bruce knew all along she was still conning him but went along w/ it. Her "genuineness" didn't come till after she admitted everything when Bruce called her out that he knew, and then decided to help her look good in the families eyes
