  1. I'm pretty sure that Lou and Hank knew where the Ed and Peggy were holed up, it is a small town after all and i'm sure they knew, through the grapevine, that there was a cabin they went to usually. It just so happened they showed up w/ Hanzee was there for his trim. They probably recognized the truck and that got us to where we were at. Kristen Dunst is killing it in this role and I hope she gets some award recognition and her career gets back on track, not that television isn't offering better roles than movies these days for women.
  2. Is it normal to get based in face like that? I would think that would do some serious mental damage. Loved Fox figuring out Nygma's riddles like that, and what is w/ Edward's riddles being so easy to figure out...are they dumbing them down for the audience? I would think Penguin would be pissed that Nygma's is so loose w/ their hideout, and I would think Eddie wouldn't want everyone to know who he is associating w/ outside of work. Oh well... So this Gordon is a killer...that's interesting...I'm not sure Bruce would approve. I loved the whole slow walk of the "Save Bruce Squad" but then they showed they were what...almost six blocks away from where they needed to be...seriously?! I love Selina, don't get me wrong, but I still don't buy her this much of a badass yet... Bruce knowing the whole Silver faux escape plan was good. I love how they are slowly building the Batman bullshit detector. This kid is good in the role. I have a feeling that we will be going down the Gordon/Thompkins child will end up being James "batshit" Gordon Jr, and he will have daddy issues after James leaves Leslie for Barbara so we can eventually get our Babs "Batgirl" Gordon. Just my hunch.
  3. I didn't see that as bonding...more of the pull your shit together for the sake of POTUS and his legacy. He knew what she was going through and decided to step up and call her out on it before going to POTUS and saying she isn't fit to serve anymore.
  4. I've always wondered if Russell's being dismissive to Bess 90% of the time has more to do w/ the fact she is a woman than anything else. I would love to see a book about the female Secretary of States who might confirm how true it might be where they were talked down to and other such things just b/c they were a woman, even though they had higher rank.
  5. I thought when they did that, we would zoom in through the peephole and find Alicia walking up to Jason and start kissing him. So what would Jason's research on Alicia be for? I don't believe it was for vetting her to see if he wanted to work for her, I just can't figure what his ulterior motive is here.
  6. I agree, the way they built him up and to just push him aside so effortlessly last week makes me think we aren't done w/ him yet. I loved the entire conversation b/t Bess and Henry at the football game regarding their son. It was just so cute how she was saying Jason was doing a great job compared to Henry stating how horrible he was actually doing, it was just a great parenting moment I thought.
  7. Well...metal doesn't photograph as well as glass on camera.
  8. I figured Padua would leave once they called out that he only gave them two cookies due to the mixing bowl mishap. I figure Melody will end up winning this thing, it's always seems to be baker's of her type that win...which it is what it is. I'm really tire of Maeve and her bitchy faces she makes, she seems like she would be an uptight bitch at her bakery if you didn't like something you purchased and made a comment about it.
  9. I see AMC is playing Miracle on 34th Street on 12/10...but I have a feeling it's the bastardized color version w/ is sacrilege in my book. So I was watching Ransom! this morning, and I have to say I love this film...so much that i'm about to order the dvd from Warner Archives. This movie is so much better than the Ron Howard remake from the 90's. I still find it suspenseful overtime I watch this film. Since the kidnappers are never acknowledged or shown (outside of a shadow of a guy smoking basically) did anyone else get the feeling that it was the older brother who was behind it all? He just screamed guilty to me, and if I had to pick a reason it would be jealousy that the younger brother is running the family business instead of him.
  10. Has TCM ever shown Miracle on 34th Street recently? I thought AMC has had the rights to show it for the past years or so. I too looked on my cable guide to see who was playing it, and I believe it said that it was IFC or some other channel I don't get. I was more upset that Maureen didn't get a mention at the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade since she just recently passed. I equate this movie w/ the parade and vice versa, so I was upset they didn't honor her in some way.
  11. I don't know why but on this show I hate it when Nancy leads us to believe what she makes feeds a whole crowd of 20+ people. When she was making the punch, I kept thinking let's be honest, you are going to have to double everything for that crowd. I wish when she serves a whole crowd she just says something to the effect of i'm going to be making double to feed the crowd, but here is the regular recipe for a family or something. It just grates on me...stupid I know. At least everything she made looked incredible.
  12. Am I on glue or did Ree just take credit for homemade pita wedges by saying she bought pita bread, cut it up into wedges, brush w/ olive oil, sprinkle salt, and bake?! So in her mind homemade means buy something at the store and put your own little flourish on it and voila...it's like you made it from scratch?! In that case I guess I didn't realize I was toasting my own homemade bread every morning for breakfast...you know...buying bread from the store then toasting it and cutting it in half. All the food on this episode looked nasty. The "marinade" she made for the chicken kabobs...again I ask experienced cooks here, but w/ the "marinade" being that thick would it really be considered a "marinade"? I can't see how any of those ingredients in the state she mixed would penetrate the chicken to give it flavor. It looked more like some thick concoction you would dredge chicken in before frying it. I saw the new Walmart holiday commercial too...it seems like w/ each new commercial it's featuring more and more friends and family...instead of the "faux" friends from the first round of commercials to hock her crap/lifestyle.
  13. Well the Laney character resembled Elaine Stritch, I wonder if they had her in mind but she passed away before filming. Tress did a great job though...although after Lisa mentioned Angela Lansbury she would be an awesome guest star for this show.
  14. I'm sure this Thanksgiving episode was filmed either the year before or during some other non-Thanksgiving season. So, you more seasoned bakers....how did Ree exactly fuck up those Parker House rolls? They looked extremely flat. The funny thing was all I could hear in my head was Paul and Mary from the GBBO saying she over or under proved her dough based off how she messed them up. Wow, that trivia tip that Ree memorized about the fraternity brothers was just awful, you could totally tell it was scripted...especially the comments to it. I don't know what it is like to be on camera or whatnot, but I would think at this point the whole family could be relaxed and just enjoy the meal and the company of everyone and the cameras could just capture that...we didn't need scripted comments. That "thankful" video was stupid. In the new commercial I only noticed Ree, Ladd, and the youngest Drummond son. I do agree that perhaps the snarky comments on how it was all strangers and Ree in the previous commercial caused them to reshoot it.
  15. I'm loving how the Gretchen storyline is playing out...it's like a slow burn but it is effective. I can't wait for the final explosion. The scene where she basically told Jimmy she doesn't feel anything anymore was so sad. I'm curious as to how it will all play out b/c imo it was her breaking up w/ Jimmy w/o outright saying it. Jimmy didn't read it that way at first since he fought his feelings w/ the bar owner until finally he decided to say screw it. I do wonder if Gretchen will see it that way, or it was just another of her rants about how he isn't understanding her at this point in her life. I've said this before but I do feel that I like Jimmy and Gretchen not together. I just feel drained and sad for Gretchen, but it's given me a whole new insight to Gretchen and Lindsay's relationship. I love that Gretchen still has someone in her corner. I did love at Lindsay's that she has taken a liking to "Queen's Beans" after Jimmy's family visit.
  16. Well PopTV started playing the final season, and I remember this was the season that I stopped watching the series during it's original airing. It really seemed like for this season that everyone was pretty much checked out of the series and was ready for it all to be over. They really split Dawson off from the rest of the gang, he hardly interacted w/ the group anymore. Was there some schism that happened that was the reason for this? I remember reading/hearing somewhere that JVDB was pissed that the Joey character had become the focus of the series pretty much, so I wonder if that was what part of the issue was. I just watched the episode where Joey misses her test b/c she decides to throw her "sex rules" out the window for Eddie. Wow, she comes off like a huge c-you-next-tuesday in the whole aftermath of that scenario w/ the professor by going to his house after leaving multiple messages begging to be able to take the test again like he owed her b/c she is a special snowflake or something. I was totally on his side when he said he had to set an example for the class as a whole and not just for her. Joey always came off like she was an entitled spoiled rich kid who in reality wasn't. Audrey has a drinking problem all of a sudden and likes to be abusive to her boyfriends. Jen has bangs and doesn't get any storyline outside of pining after a guy w/ high moral standards except for sleeping w/ Audrey when wasted. I really am glad that Michelle Williams escaped this show intact and is able to prove her acting chops. Jack has a run-in w/a closeted professor and then starts dating a pocket-gay. In the Christmas episode Joey's dad suddenly reappears after we found out he wanted nothing to do w/the family after he was released from prison...again. WTF?! He interacts w/ Audrey like he's know her since he helped move her into the dorms in freshman year. . . . . . So finishing off the series on PopTV we get the horrible Jen w/ bangs part deux now w/ horrible chop cut haircut. I don't know who Michelle Williams pissed off in the hair dept but that style was just bad. Jack disappears for what seems like a six episodes w/ nary a mention. Grams gets cancer and Audrey leaves then comes back. The worse offender was the writers deciding to recreate Pacey and Joey's post college characters by making them regress to their high school-selves but now in a mentor like roll to their high school equivalents. I think the writers pushed too hard to make Pacey and Joey a couple again, it was too cutesy. The locked in a store overnight and Joey as Pacey's assistant were just bad. Joey of course is a total bitch as Pacey's assistant, b/c god-forbid she do her job and be his assistant. She has to act like she is above this and question all he asks her to do as well as spilling coffee on the reporter intentionally. I can't figure out why Joey decided to turn her back on her burgeoning relationship w/ Pacey just b/c Eddie came back. That made no sense writers, no sense at all. That 'Loveline' episode is just awful. Joey would never allow her personal grievances to be played out for a public forum. Lest we forget the Joey Potter Eiffel Tower/Paris green-screen scene that was just awful. This show just went off the rails during the college years, and looking back at it now the glue that would have kept them all together was Andie, b/c that was her character and when she left everyone just went their own ways. The series finale was okay, but they made a mistake killing Jen off imo.
  17. Wasn't this a pre-cursor to Ree's show on the FN premiering? I totally could see Ree telling the FN that in order for her show to appeal outside of her internet fans she would need to appear on Bobby's show and actually "beat" him in order to make people think she had actual cooking chops to sell her show...of course we know now it was the old bait and switch based off of her show.
  18. The only cake that looked good w/ the candy spilling out was the chocolate covered almonds covered in powdered sugar. The other candy looked ridiculous...especially the strawberry candy b/c all I could think of was how sanitary would the wrappers be in the cake. Steve went for a peanut butter and jelly cake for a christmas theme and then put fall colored reese's pieces inside. Idiot. He should have went w/a fall themed cake to match the color of his candy somewhat. Of course he totally crapped out in the end by just throwing what he could at the cake basically, he threw his design out the window. I'll just stick the peanuts on the side here and hey...i have left over candy, i'll just sprinkle it around the bottom of the cake and wham...bam...bob's your uncle i'm done. I really thought he should have been in the bottom. I think that's what Sue thought at first until someone told her differently b/c she was concerned her candy was going to be all melted together and what not. Sue should have just made a basic circle cake like everyone else w/ the strawberry candies inside and she would have won. These contestants are trying to squeeze too much in a short amount of time....though to be fair they should give them at least 3 hours per competition and that would solve the thing about the cakes having enough time to cool before decorating.
  19. When they said stuffed cakes it left me questioning why...but then I recalled how this is a common theme at baby sex unveiling parties where either pink or baby blue m&m's in the cake let everyone know, even the expectant mother, the sex of said child. I was more pissed that Melody and Brianna didn't just fess up that they thought what candy they chose was something different...keep it light and fun people. I did think exactly what those two thought, i mean green malted milk balls? I like Brianna, but I really think she should have went home last night over Sue...but I forgot that they judge based off the current competition and not the competition as a whole. They seriously awarded Melody for those whoopie pies and let the decorating slide w/ nary a comment? Why was she having a breakdown over piping? Seriously.... They looked so bland and they only could have won b/c they met the main criteria of I guess looking like a whoopie pie. Just a comment on the episodes as a whole, but Maeve is so damn annoying w/the facial expressions and all that. I'm ready for her to just go...the same w/ Steve. I think this is why I can't stand the American version of cooking competitions compared to British versions, everyone comes off so smug and holier than thou whereas in programs like the GBBO they are down to earth, no manufactured drama, and nobody is talking smack about the others.
  20. I think chessiegal means that it's not actually live, it's just made to look that way like all reality crap. They probably recorded it earlier this month and just had pre-recorded callers who needed Thanksgiving tips/help. I could be wrong though. I think Ree posted last year about being in NYC to record the program last year and her blog postings didn't match up w/the actual day of event. I do wonder how FN is able to control all those egos when they tape that monstrosity. Everyone thinking they are a better chef/cook than the other....oh to be a fly on the wall seeing all of the eye-rolling, dirty looks, and comments. If only FN could get Ree to appear on "Cutthroat Kitchen" so we can see the Pioneer Woman put her nifty down-home roughing it cowgirl style to the test...although FN probably knows how weak she is and how she would damage her brand.
  21. I was curious as to why she layered the pie that way. I know the apples are heavier than the pumpkin custard, but it looked odd w/ like a inch of pumpkin pie onto of apples. I would try and fold them in together then put it in the pie crust, but that's me. It was kind of like she was saying if you like pumpkin pie eat the top and if you like apple pie just eat the bottom of the filling.
  22. I think i'll stick w/ this series for the first season them i'm out. Who knows if it will be renewed or not, is it even a hit? If I have to hear her tell every "friend" that she has two Emmy's anymore i'm going to be really put off by her and that will taint me from enjoying the Middle and ELR.
  23. I wonder how WM feels when they watch her current shows the have her cookware on display and you see she is using ingredients that come from Target and Best Choice...not Great Value.
  24. I disagree...outside of that stuffing, not a fan of fruit in my stuffing, I would have loved to have been at her Thanksgiving feast. I thought the "papple" pie looked good. I mean they have pumpkin apple butter and whatnot, so I would have tried this pie out. The succotash, which i've never had before ever, looked really good, and i'm not a fan of lima beans....well any bean outside of green beans that is. Nancy's dairy explosion mashed potatoes looked awesome....i love loaded mashed potatoes, and these had me drooling. The horseradish has me intrigued, but that's b/c i've just recently become a fan of the taste of horseradish. Turkey looked good as well, and the brine has me really wanting to taste that. I have some hard apple cider and i'm thinking of brining a ham or chicken w/ it. I'm shocked anneofcleves and grisgris b/c we are usually on the same page w/ our critiques and loves of Nancy and Ree.
  25. The fact that she said it had been raining all week should have been a clue to wait until the land dried out. I mean who wants to sit in a soggy pasture having a picnic/campout? I couldn't believe they were mowing that wet grass that morning...ugh. So, do we think this was an actual Drummond family tradition or was it just an idea thrown together to get another episode under her belt? The fact that she said Nan did this for years makes me think otherwise....then again my recollection of this trainwreck of a show I am recalling another camping or cookout episode involving Nan and the grandkids...maybe camping wasn't involved though. The hot dogs....ugh. Well wait, it wasn't a bad idea for a gourmet hot dog, but why did she use an entire stick of mozzarella?! I was thinking she would quarter those cheese sticks, but nope....she went full hog there w/ that cheese, the ratio was totally off. Wouldn't all that cheese end up in the bottom of the foil packet? Also....mozzarella?! She should have used cheddar taste wise, but that's just me. The waffle cone thing sounded so stupid and it was....why make a batch of cookies when everything else was store bought for the ingredients. She could have just bought cookies w/ chocolate candies and crushed them up. No sense in making cookies from scratch just to crumble them imo. So you get a waffle cone, put whatever you want in it, wrap it up and throw it on the grill....ingenuious....er ridiculous. Why the need for two separate quesadillas....oh yeah, Drummond men don't eat veggies...and goat cheese. She should have just labeled them for 'men' and 'women' Yikes, that sangria would have made Nancy "Gigi Juice" Fuller blush. I wonder if the spigot snapped off like the POS version she sells at walmart? My sister purchased one from the Ree Drummond line for a baby shower she threw and the spigot snapped off and let's just say a different kind of shower happened that day as well. So that corn relish mixture that was at the table...any reason you couldn't share that recipe Ree...b/c that looked somewhat tasty, compared to the hot dogs and quesadillas. That's right, probably Nan or Missy made that side dish that looked incredible...i'm guessing Ree will "borrow" that recipe for a future episode. Oh...btw I ate some of Ree's famous Chinese food today, and by that I mean Panda Express. Well...on to Farmhouse Rules w/ someone who can actually cook.
