S02.E21: The Man with the Twisted Lip
FormerMod-a1 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Elementary [V]
I couldn't shake the feeling that Mycroft had ulterior motives with his "proposal" to Joan, and maybe this is partly why. I had that feeling from the beginning though. When Joan was following that French guy, I kept thinking, "No! Wait longer, don't go alone.." Anything different otherwise you'll get caught. And she did. And how did that guy notice her take the one picture as she put on her coat and left? That was weird. -
Well, Chumlee does sometimes, but I think that's just to humor him.
-
He's often grumpy, but he loves old cars.
-
He seems to have a buddy for every type of object that people bring in. And he giggles a lot.

Discuss the recipes here. Which ones do you want to try? Which ones got you drooling? The ones that went wrong Etc

Curtis Stone: Rocks are More Interesting
FormerMod-a1 replied to Rhondinella's topic in Top Chef Duels [V]
I've been looking for it, but my Google-fu is failing me*. But one of the things that endeared him to me was this dorky little dance he did in one of his first appearances on The Chew. Complete with finger circles. It was great. Actually, I used to be apathetic about Curtis until I saw him The Chew a few times. The more he guested, the more I liked him. *If I ever find it, I will post it. -
Here is where we can discuss the many dates and relationships the main cast had. Who did we love? Who did we hate? etc I, personally, thought Shari was the best match for Martin. And I really didn't like Ronnie, but that's who he ended up with. As for Frasier, I got sick of Lana real fast (and her kid too). The first couple of episodes were fine, it was the later ones that made me roll my eyes. If someone thinks of a clever secondary title, post it, I can change the title.

Aww... I like Curtis. -
Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
FormerMod-a1 replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
When my mom first saw that commercial she asked "So, if I eat their food I'll become annoying and rude?" And she hardly ever comments on these kinds of things, let along in a negative way. Made me laugh. I don't like the commercial either. -
I watched Season 1 live, form the beginning. And it was an odd experience for me because despite almost always disagreeing with the judges from the knockouts to the other levels where they selected or influences, it still became my favorite singing show. Nakia was one of my only early favorites that made it to the top 4 on Ceelo's team and then was booted shortly after. I did like Nikki and Vicci. I didn't mind Javier. I was not as impressed with Dia as others seemed to be.

The "girl" characters always seemed just tacked on to me. Even as a kid I thought they were just for political correctness. It never made sense for their characters to be there. Now, as an adult, I can see that if they wrote the women characters better it would have worked out better. I feel for the actresses being in those roles if any of the cast were obviously against them being there. Not that I think they'd be saying nasty things to them, of course, but even in subconscious ways you can give off a vibe.

We didn't have the "traditional" ham this year either. But we did have pork - grilled and BBQ-ed pork chops with potato salad, cheesy broccoli, and home-made "quick" apple sauce. Dessert was after-dinner liqueurs. Christmas dinners vary - usually a roast of some kind, but it could be beef, pork, turkey, etc. Thanksgiving is always turkey though, except the one time I decided a giant chicken (8 lb) would be better (I prefer chicken to turkey). I liked it, my dad wanted turkey.

Yeah, I didn't think the first season was that bad, and I liked the idea of extended secondary characters. It made it look more like a school than later seasons. That said, if they hadn't retooled it we wouldn't have our iconic four girls. And Jo was my favorite in the first few couple of seasons. I still liked her throughout, but I liked the others equally.

One of my favorite celebrity guests in this era was Richard Simmons. I'm at work or I'd post a link to his run at Living Scenery. One of the funniest bits of television of all time, IMO.

Lamb is available in most grocery stores here in MN (USA), but limited - mostly lamb chops and rack of lamb.

Discuss any and all guest hosts here. Sometimes when one or more of the hosts is out, they have a guest host. I see no rhyme or reason to this though, because they sometimes do the show with just 4 of them. And I have to say, I prefer that. That said, I have liked some guest hosts more than others. I liked Ming Sai and Curtis Stone (I like him more here than on Top Chef Masters). I was OK with Yvette Nicole Brown, but got so tired of seeing her - they had her on WAY too many times for my taste.

I have similar concerns about Claudia and her missing brother. Plus, I'm just bored with the sister story. It came up last minute last season and this season is so short that I just don't care. They should have dropped it like Myka's cancer. But that can also be due to the fact that it also annoys me that her brother is never mentioned, even now with the whole sister thing. I can understand if they can't get the actor back, but at least mention him please. Why wouldn't Claudia call him? She moved heaven and earth to save him and promptly forgot he ever existed. I was never a shipper (of anyone), but I find myself suddenly liking Myka and Pete. But I think they were dropping so many hints (anvils even) that it must be some kind of mis-direct. And I'm OK with that too.

Coach Suggestions: What Would Mark Burnett Do?
FormerMod-a1 replied to Mattipoo's topic in The Voice (US)
I'd love to see Jennifer Nettles. I liked her on that failed Duets show, and she has a great voice., -
Actor Nolan Gould; guest comics Jeff Davis and Greg Proops.

Loved the sumo wrestler making himself a tent in Living Scenery.

This is the place to discuss shows that spun out of Whose Line, with very similar games, etc. Improvaganza and Trust Us With Your Life are the two I can think of right now. I really liked Improvaganza for the most part, but do wish it had been edited a bit differently. There seemed to be equal commercial time to show time. And some of the games went too long. But I did love being introduced to some "new" (to me) people like Jonathan Mangum. I also really liked Trust Us With Your Life. That's where I first saw Sideways Scene and I thought it was better there than it has been in the current Whose Line. I also really liked the mime a song bit, especially when Ricky Gervais was cracking up and asking if this was a real show.

... or as I call it " The return of Whose Line. YAY!" Discuss all "Whose Line" during Drew Carey years here.

This is the place to discuss all things related to the British "Whose Line". I got hooked on this show 15?(yikes) years ago when Comedy Central was showing the British "Whose Line". I loved everybody from Tony Slaughtery to Josie Lawrence to the ever ubiquitous Ryan and Colin
