  1. Just a reminder - we encourage civil debate and discussion here. Watch the attitude, please. And you only need to make your point a couple of times and then move on.
  2. Merged these recent posts with the previous book/movie comparison thread. Carry on.
  3. Wow - that went by fast. Who'd have thought the Augustine follow-up would nearly have me in tears. I thought she'd be a "hopeless" case. She even had light behind those eyes. And happy for Susan too. Wasn't there a brother too, though? Jason? Kevin, Kevin, Kevin... he really thinks his only income is from dumpster diving and his hoard? And that he doesn't have a trust fund? He also has 10-ish storage units and 3 vans full of hoard. But he can't be committed? Wow. I know there were others, but those are sticking out in my head right now. Glad they ended on a good note too. Ruth? Such tragedy, but glad she was a success story.
  4. Wayne Brady, Jonathan Mangum, Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles Yay! Jonathan Mangum!
  5. Here's one of my favorites, from season 2. I miss Leon - hope we see him again, Leon It's not like I'm still crying over Candi, but it's always the same story, you know? You find a girl you like. She's tall, she's pretty, and it turns out someone paid her to handcuff you to a bed so they could murder you. John: Same old story.
  6. Updates on some of the most memorable hoarders featured on the show.
  7. I think Tom Cruise used to be a good actor, but he's been riding on his own cache for 20-ish years now. And late to the party on Ann Hathaway, but this is why I like her.
  8. See, this is funny to me. Everyone I know in real life, and at other sites lauds DS9 as the far superior series of the entire franchise. Voyager was considered the worst until Enterprise came along. I always had he UPO that I liked Voyager better. Once it was revealed the Jem'Hadar were basically drug addicts DS9 lost a lot of points with me. I kept watching, since I loved Garak and Julian, but the politics got so boring and convoluted (with the one Kardashian posing as a Kai, blech).
  9. One of my least favorite's is on right now. Rose treats her mother like a 5 year old. And even when her mother asks her to stop, and proves she's fine on her own, she just keeps being condescending and scolding. But also apparently she doesn't worry like this when her mom doesn't visit. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess. Not a great Rose episode.
  10. I've listened to it every day since I discovered it too!
  11. I shared this one elsewhere, but that was a limited audience. I love this song.
  12. This annoyed me to now end too. Donate it to a museum, donate it to charity auction. Throwing it away to the bottom of the ocean? Stupid, IMO. Is this the one where he's wandering around the mountains for an interminable amount of time? Or was that Batman Begins? Whichever one it is, I just thought it dragged and dragged and really don't remember much else about it. And I haven't watched a Batman movie since. Most people thought I was insane for not liking it, whichever one it was.
  13. I love gag reels.
  14. WE has been showing a series of my least favorite episodes. The 3 parter that goes to Hollywood and back, and involves Jamie's ex. Followed by Mad Dog where a serial rapist is released from prison (his term was up?) and his daughter only thinks the best of him, and Jack persecutes and hounds him and then he rapes daughter's friend and daughter kills him It's like they don't want me to watch the channel tonight. That's OK. I've been watching the X-Files on El Rey instead.
  15. I would really like a place with summer temperature swings like in the Midwest. I was thinking they could do one of the uninhabited islands in the great lakes - plenty of water and they can still do sweeping vistas. The temperatures would be 80s-90s during the day which would allow for swimsuits and water challenges, but 60s-70s at night. Or, for logistical purposes (i.e. getting Probst and crew to and from location, electricity needs for cameras, etc), a non-populated area of the lake shore. But I know they wouldn't do that either.
  16. Were they close enough to Lake Superior? The Great Lakes don't often freeze over - they are too big and have too much water movement. (The bays and inlets do, but not the whole lake).
  17. Loved this review. There are some very minor spoilers at the end for Season 3, but they warn you before you get there. So you can read the top part and then know when to stop.
  18. I think the original plan was fine. Have Will be "deep undercover" until Hannibal reveals his true self and doesn't hide anything from Will. Even wanting to kill with him. And hopefully, they would stop the murder in progress (but if it was someone like Mason, I wouldn't care). But when he didn't actually kill Mason, and Mason wouldn't finger Hannibal as the one that hurt him, Jack got impatient. So they upped the game, tried to make something happen with suggesting Hannibal "reveal" himself to Jack. And that's when things went sideways. Of course, I'm glad they wanted to speed things up. Hannibal had pretty much dropped his guard with Will - maiming Mason in front of him and all that. He was also going to "give" Abigail back to him as a gift, so the time was ripe. But then Hannibal smelled Freddie on Will and got the upper hand again.
  19. I still don't see it as entrapment. As someone else said, if I tell someone "Hey, why don't you kill Jon Smith" and they do, it's their fault. They are responsible, they are the one to go to jail. And no one forced them to kill Jon Smith. It's not like murder for hire - no exchange of money. It's not like holding someone's kid hostage and threatening to kill them unless they kill someone else. It's not like holding a gun to their head and telling them to kill someone else or else you'll kill them. Heck there wasn't even any psychological driving going on, like Hannibal has done to others.
  20. I liked the book, too. And I used to listen to the podcast, but I got way behind and decided to end the subscription. But I recommend it, especially the stuff that aired while Hoarders was still on. He sometimes talked about specific episodes and it was so illuminating for some of them.
  21. I am loving this Season 1 marathon. And it ends today with Michael Emerson. Who could ask for more?
  22. Feel free to make any threads for the characters you want to discuss.
  23. I think the phone call was part of the original plan and/or part of Will's cover. It would make Hannibal think Will was still on his side. If Hannibal hadn't smelled Freddie on Will, it might have worked. Will could have* walked in, and either killed Hannibal or restrained him. But since Hannibal was aware something was off (due to smelling Freddie) he was more than prepared for a double-cross. I say "could have" because Hannibal is really adept at fighting, so while he may have been briefly surprised Will still may have ended up the same way. Which Will knew given all his goodbye interactions. Plus the shock of Abigail would have put Will off his game no matter what, I think.
  24. ... or that few people have heard. Here's one of mine. I love this song from the 80s that no one else I know seems to know. The lyrics make no sense, but I still love it. And I love this guy's voice. I present to you "That's Love That It Is" by Blancmange.
