The cast covers from 5x10 are now up on Spotify!

A proper album of all of the song covers is now on Spotify. Nice that they were faster about getting these to us.

I think that's what rubbed it the wrong way for me -- it felt too perfect and devoid of any character. Previous musical numbers on the show have been great because they felt much more "live" even if the actor was likely lip synching to their prerecorded vocals. But something definitely was lost with the autotune and cleaning up on vocals that likely didn't need it at all -- I mean Trixie's like 11, she's not going to have an amazing voice.

That was rough. I definitely didn't see that coming. Everyone's reactions were gut-wrenching, and Trixie just broke my heart into a billion tiny pieces. Lucifer saying "My dear, sweet child" with complete sincerity... yeah, I've got something in my eye. Ella and Lucifer singing It's So Hard To Say Goodbye in both Spanish and English was probably one of the best musical performances this season, maybe even of the series. Their voices go very well together.

Normally I love musical episodes but some parts of this just felt... kind of cringe. Maybe it was the song choices? Or the fact that they did the entire song each time so it was a lot longer to sit through. I think the best musical numbers were Lucifer's version of Wicked Game, the group number that we'd seen a sneak preview of months ago, and I enjoyed Just the Two of Us as well.

Alex has authored the latest River Song novel, which is why she's been popping up a lot lately. Here she is reading from the first chapter.

This episode was so cringe I was watching through my fingers at certain points. It's right up there in terms of cringe with the episode of The Office with Phylis' wedding.

I was expecting way worse. As a fellow Aspie I was happy to see some representation on SNL, and I would pretty much be the same way on stage live like that (comedic timing is hard to achieve when you have trouble reading the crowd). I could tell he was having a lot of fun, so even if it wasn't a flawless performance (he's not an actor after all) he obviously was enjoying himself and that came through.

WOW. Season 2 was nuts. I absolutely loved it, and thought it was very true to the books with some subtle differences. Will's reunion with his dad was heartbreaking. I really liked the casting of Andrew Scott and enjoyed his performance. Lee's death was like the Red Wedding in GOT all over again. I read the books, knew what was coming, but was still devastated when he died. I absolutely loved Lin's portrayal of Lee (he's such a nerd about the books too, I love it) and thought he did a fantastic job. That shot of Hester's dust blowing in the wind... ugh... and then Serafina coming to him too late.

I never thought I'd say this, but I prefer Lin as Lee than as Hamilton. I was wholly captivated during that scene with Mrs Coulter.

The whole series just dropped onto Crave in Canada a few weeks ago, so I am having a full rewatch of the new dub -- I had only seen the first half of the original series when it first dropped back in 2014 and hadn't really kept up with it. The new dub is good. It's not perfect, but overall I'm happy. I grew up with the DIC dub, so Terri Hawkes will always be Usagi to me, but Stephanie Sheh seems to get better with every batch of episodes -- I'm enjoying going through R right now. I do find the other senshi voices to be less distinct than the original English dub, but overall the acting is good. Mamoru is perfect, honestly. Also Matt Mercer as Demande, y e s p l e a s e. My favourite Demande will always be Hikari Ono in the original stage musicals but Matt's voice is like butter and my earholes are very happy.

I've heard rumours that they wanted to age up the characters, wanted to make the series "darker", opened up casting to white actors, etc. Take all of that with a grain of salt but I definitely wouldn't want that for ATLA as that's not the heart of the show. I mean, it's plenty dark enough with pre-teens in the middle of an all out WAR, thanks.

I was so, so weirdly moved by It's Quiet Uptown in this. Also Burn was perfect "Do you know what Angelica said? BAWK BAWK BAWK BAWK" and "Eat your heart out, Pippa!" The additional Muppets as the Federalists in The Election of 1800 was *chef's kiss* perfect. I'm annoyed that Pepe the Prawn didn't get a bigger role bc I love him so much.

Dalton Ross has given me the best birthday gift ever, an Oral History of The Dragonz, the rock band from HvV Ponderosa with Coach, Courtney, and JT. It's just as in-depth as the one about Erik's immunity necklace blunder, and it includes the 5-track EP they "released" all those years ago. https://ew.com/tv/survivor-dragonz-oral-history/

Not the pastor, this is Kevin who was the hero who learned to dance for his daughter's wedding. Super sad to read, though.
-
I completely skipped the episode with the super young girl with anxiety and veganism, bc she's basically tumblr personified and tumblr is so 2018. And she was annoying. Pastor Noah had me weeping.

JVN shows up in Chapter 7 of HarryPotterAtHome reading the part of The Sorting Hat. Always fun to see him popping up!

With the focus so heavily on Tony I thought for sure he was getting the episode's bootee edit. I couldn't stand him in Cagayan but he's definitely growing on me in WaW. I would still rather the title go to anyone currently on the Edge with the exception of Danni or Adam.
-
I've never liked Denise, and now I absolutely loathe her.
-
I know Rob wouldn't last, but I adore him so I'm sad he's out on the Edge for the rest of the game. Hoping for a sweet reunion between him and Amber.
-
I hate that I think that photo is adorable and Jinger looks beautiful and happy.

This season has stressed me out majorly. I watched the shoe religiosly up until HvV then lost interest, and over the last year I've been binging the seasons I missed and then was able to get into Island of the Idols in realtime. It's similar to a returning players season in that I have people I can't stand (Tony, Denise) and people I love (Rob, Amber, Yul, Parvati, Sandra, Tyson) and everyone else is just kind of there as filler. Knowing that my faves were in danger just meant it was two hours of anxiety. I'm okay with Natalie going because I've never felt connected to her, but Amber going was painful. Especially given how emotional she was when her team won the first immunity, and Rob's looks at her during the challenge. I love them both so much. I hope that Amber being voted off is what kicks Rob into high gear and I hope Amber is able to get off of Extinction at some point, or if there's some way that she's able to help Rob get further in the game from the Edge using the advantages. It would be a good story for her to keep fighting and being like his guardian angel or something even though they're separated.

I knew Elaine wasn't going to win but it still hurt. Dan being removed makes up for it.

When Janet got the 8th vote I literally was ready to throw my iPad at the wall.
