  1. Rage seems to be just below the surface with most of the Rayburns.
  2. The mini-series category will have some tough calls this year. Sarah Paulson was phenomenal in The People vs. OJ, but so was Kirsten Dunst in Fargo.
  3. In the short run, I hope this incident reminds people to always use their parking brake on a hill. His driveway was described as "steep."
  4. Yes, it would be great (and way past time) for The Americans to receive the Emmy recognition it deserves.
  5. Does anyone else find the over-use of "fuck" by virtually every character jarring and/or annoying? This doesn't strike me as the way people concerned about their family image talk, even amongst themselves. It feels gratuitous on the writers' part -- we have the characters say it a lot because we can. Enough already!
  6. They kept doing it as adults, and couldn't even own up to it. John lied when he said that their dad decided Danny shouldn't stay -- the siblings decided that and put the blame on Dad. (I'm feeling more sympathetic toward Danny after having watched the 2nd season. I'm rewatching the first season with that in mind.)
  7. Struggling with this a bit: "I hate that queen"??
  8. ET Online has an interview with Holly Taylor. Good for her!
  9. I don't really remember that, knaankos, so thanks for the reminder. After I finish S2 (two episodes to go -- I just figured out that there are only 10 instead of 13!), I'll see if I can rope Mr. Inqui into watching it from the start with me.
  10. Aw, sad to see that Millie Helper has departed. Ann Morgan Guilbert played that role with a perfect combination of normalcy and wackiness.
  11. This is the kind of thing keeps Bloodline from being a great viewing experience for me. Too much plot propelled by people doing/not doing simple normal things.
  12. How is Kevin still alive at this point? He gives the phrase "too stupid to live" new meaning.
  13. Oh my gosh, that means Janet Waldo was over 30 when she played that 16-year-old. Never would have guessed it.
  14. A bit of a digression, but has anyone read The Chaperone, which features 15-year-old Louise Brooks as a major supporting character? She made her cinematic mark mostly in the pre-sound era -- I don't think I've seen any of her performances. But I recalled her "look" immediately.
  15. I suspect the writers didn't think through the wedding tape timing to the same extent as this thread's participants. ;-) As for me, any episode with Father Hubley is gold.
  16. Speaking of Bryan Cranston, here's a favorite Seinfeld-related moment from the 2014 Emmys.
  17. So I was looking up some Hungarian phrases for an upcoming trip and was tickled when I scrolled to the bottom of this list. Be sure to click on the Why this phrase? link and prepare to have your neeples explode with delight.
  18. Ah, it hadn't been clear to me before that Don didn't work at the same physical facility as William.
  19. Sam had a lot of depth in the first season, but became increasingly shallow over time. The first season is golden.
  20. Thanks, Umbelina. And that would mean that Don was probably under surveillance as well? Or was Don something like head of security for the lab rather than directly working on the bioweapons project?
  21. Could someone remind me why the FBI has had William under surveillance? Are we to assume they do this with all lab employees of his level or above? Or was some reason given for singling him out?
  22. Saw Julia Louis-Dreyfus in Evanston, IL this weekend. She is tiny. I probably would not have noticed her, except that she was walking a few steps behind her husband, Brad Hall, who is very tall and distinctive-looking -- I recognized him first, then realized she was there, too. They appeared to be walking intently to a car they had parked on that block, so I didn't bother them. Their son Charlie attends Northwestern, so I assume they were in town for something related to him.
  23. I watched the last two episodes again last night as my husband got caught up. In Ep. 4-10, the one in which "Patty" told Don she was pregnant, we also saw Gabriel and Philip planning for their part of the scheme. There was a reference to Hans and someone else doing surveillance, learning about shift changes and other aspects of the routine at Don's workplace. So yes, there was a lot of planning involved and we were actually shown some of it. In Ep, 4-11, when Philips comes home, he tells Elizabeth that Don "went for it." So, obviously, they weren't sure it would work, and may have had some other back-up plan in place, which there's now no need for us to see.
