  1. The show went on. They didn't tell the cast until after it was over.

  3. And I thought I couldn't love John more than I already do... from the New York Daily News: https://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/ny-20190526-z7fgx4fn3nef7hhad5fcot3nsi-story.html

My first reactions was when did he leave the Os system...where he'd been for a long time...
  5. @GHScorpiosRule, good luck with the car, and have a wonderful time with your parents - when they finally get here! I've had good luck buying cars at Hersons Honda and had a great service experience at Sport Honda. I used Costco to buy my last car (6 years ago) at Honda of Bowie (it was kinda far, but that's where they sent me). So I know Costco is a great way to go. Mr ebk used Edmunds to get a price guarantee when he bought his Ford, so there are tons of ways to do it without haggling. Just know what you want and what you don't. I'm fortunate that I qualified for the low percentage Honda financing and paid off the car in 3 years. I'm hoping it's the last car I ever have to buy. (It's a 2013 Accord and it's fabulous!). New cars are amazing - enjoy it when you get it!!
  6. Per Equity rules (Actors Equity, the actors union), there are 3 ways to announce understudies: Lobby board, Playbill insert and loudspeaker announcement before the show. I believe they have to use 2 of them, usually the lobby board and Playbill insert. My first actual Broadway show was Chicago with the original cast. Sat in the front Mezz just off center. I think the tickets were $15.50. On that trip I also saw The Wiz and A Chorus Line. For ACL, I bought a ticket from a guy in front of the theater and sat in the last row of the balcony - for $8.00. It was a fabulous first trip to NYC.
  7. NPR rates the musical guests this season. From #1 to Greta Van Fleet - ha! https://www.npr.org/2019/05/20/724884348/snl-musical-guests-ranked-from-no-1-to-greta-van-fleet
  8. This really was a show where the host rose above the material. Ah well... hope they rest up and refresh over the summer. Thanks @Galileo908 for another fabulous season of recaps!! Wouldn't be the same without you.

I hate weather. I even want to watch the (team that's playing) Yankees tonight.

It's pouring. The game allegedly starts at 1. It's going to rain all day. Have they called the game yet?? No, of course not. Like last Sunday when we left the house at 12:40, got there a bit after 1, they took our money for parking, we went inside, strolled around the concourse looking for beer, finally bought beer and 15 seconds later, they called the game. Sigh..... I'm not bitter. Really. I just don't want to leave the house. (and sorry for the run-on sentence)
  11. He's the one who was in How To Succeed on Broadway. That's the only reason I knew...
  12. Oh... that was Jon Hamm! I was wondering who the hell that guy who wandered in was.
  13. This is pretty much exactly what I was saying to Mr. ebk while you were typing this. A couple of the sketches weren't very good (Holes...), but the ones that hit had me laughing out loud. And laughing hard. And I rarely do that with this show anymore. I enjoyed this one. And I'm very pleasantly surprised that I dd.
  14. That was one of the best Sheila Sovage sketches I've seen. And I'm ready for the show to be over since it's usually the 12:55 sketch...
  15. I love Pippin! I saw it on Broadway, but after the original cast had left. I saw Michael Rupert at Pippin and Northern J Calloway as Leading Player. It was marvelous, and I agree, the ending they went with was way better than the ending Fosse seemed to want. I also saw the Diane Paulus revival on Broadway a couple years ago. I cried when John Rubinstein came on stage as Charlemagne and when Priscilla Lopez came on as Berthe, but I think those reactions were more that I just loved them in roles I saw them in as an impressionable youth(ish). The show, with the circus theme, just didn't work as well for me.
  16. I'm not sure why, but the clip here is 2 versions of Sing, Sing, Sing from (I think) the Tonys of those years. And for that, I thank you!!! (Not that I wouldn't enjoy Ben Vereen and Pippin because I absolutely love Pippin, but I believe I've expressed by deep love of Sing, Sing, Sing a few times in this thread already... so yay!)
  17. That was stunning. I really hated Fosse in this episode. I liked him much better when he was Roy Scheider...
  18. Grew up in an apartment outside of Washington DC in the 60s/70s. Lots of kids. There was a pool for summer fun. A playground with playground things like swings, slides and monkey bars, an a space for kickball. We could ride bikes around the parking lot because everyone knew there were kids playing in the parking lot so it was safe. My mom used to ring a cowbell from the bedroom window (we lived on the top floor) when it was time to come in for dinner. We could also walk to school, and to the shopping center about a half mile from the building. It was a good time. I live several miles away, but drive through the old 'hood sometimes on my way into DC. It's changed, but what hasn't. One of my childhood friends and I went to visit the building a few years ago and were so pleased that they've kept it up and it looks quite nice now. I wouldn't be sad if I were to move back there. Chances are I won't, but it's good to know it's still a nice place. Oh, one more thing - Halloween. It was great! There were 157 apartments, and we never had to cover up our costumes with coats since we didn't have to go outside! And we got enough candy for an entire year!!

I did see it! However, I can't make it to that game, so perhaps I'll check out ebay... As for the GoT 'heads... I love the one the Os are doing. But, it's a Tuesday. And they would be forcing me to go to another Yankee game to get it 😉. So I'll also be checking ebay for that one after some time has passed and the prices go down. I saw the one from the bobblehead hof, but I find their 'heads kind of creepy looking. I considered joining several months ago, but just don't like the way they look. The team has offered an interesting "perk" this season - for a mere $199, I can get most of the giveaways without bothering to show up at the games. However, the Theme Night giveaways aren't included, so forget it. The only giveaway I really want this year is the Brooks Robinson 'head and I've already gotten my tickets for that.
  20. Seinfeld. Not one episode. From the scenes I've seen...no thanks. Also never seen Titanic. The boats sinks. What else is there to see? (sorry about the spoiler...) There are lots of others, many of them already listed. I do watch TV... really... sometimes.
  21. I didn't, since I hadn't heard of it. However, now I've looked it up and it seems it will be an annual tradition on PBS. https://www.boweryboogie.com/2019/04/pbs-picks-up-streits-doc-matzo-and-the-american-dream-for-annual-passover-telecast/ I'll look for it here in my area. Thanks
  22. Loved this episode. A small note - it made me smile that music used in the scene in the nightclub when Gwen was watching the Jack Cole dancers was "Sing, Sing, Sing".
  23. I'm not really feeling this either, for reasons everyone has stated. I did find this behind-the-scenes piece interesting...and amusing in kinda a sad way. https://www.showbiz411.com/2019/04/20/the-exclusive-inside-story-of-sunday-nights-motown-60-special-on-cbs-why-jlo-diana-ross-says-no-to-the-supremes-no-mention-of-michael-jackson-and-mary-wilsons-eventual-triumph
  24. I don't think I've ever seen De Niro so relaxed on a talk show as he was last night. He was almost charming. All credit to Stephen!
