  1. If you watched 2 or more shows on any NBC network yesterday, you felt like Larry was a celebrity. He was an important part of getting the celebs on the air. And from everything said about him, he was an all-around fabulous guy. I, for one, am always grateful to see the backstage folks get some on-air love. My only nitpick would be that by the end of the day, I wanted more pictures of Larry than the 4 or 5 they kept showing. Thanks for everything Larry, and RIP.
  2. I was reminded this morning that Mr. ebk became a stagehand because of Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. They were playing a concert on his campus. His dorm was near the arena and when the trucks got there, some guys from the dorm were co-opted to help unload and set up the show. Then they found out the band was somewhere else. So they took the show down and loaded up the trucks. Mr. ebk was hooked and the rest is history. The band came back the following year to do a make-up show, so that was nice.
  3. Mr ebk and I had to play it back a couple of times because I first heard "has a bag in its mouth" and that didn't make any sense. At the risk of having no one know what I'm talking about, I'll say Stephen was using a "Bob Ryan" quality phone (you'll know if you ever listen to Tony Kornheiser's radio show/podcast).
  4. Stephen is on Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me this week. Charming, as always! His daughter's cow joke is funny.
  5. I was happy to see Jon Batiste and Stay "Homin;" last night, too. I love Jon.
  6. I'm pretty sure refunds will be automatic. Without spoiling it (because you really can't say much about this show without spoiling it), I thought it was funny/a bit silly at the start. Then it got more serious and raised many good issues... quite interesting. Then, it took a sharp turn and went off a cliff. I'm still not sure what I thought of the play. Which is why I'll be interested to hear what you think. I hope the show is able to resume when the crisis has passed.

We were just saying that about the Os earlier today. ETA: Although now that I think about, I'm sure we can find a way, no matter how short the season is!
  8. Also saw that last week. I will be very interested in hearing what you think of it.
  9. Saw it last week and loved it. I was thoroughly captivated during the whole show. It's quiet and very moving. I had a small nitpick at the end, but it didn't tarnish the evening at all. If you're sitting in the orchestra, I'd suggest sitting house left and not in front of the drum kit because it's loud.

Ya know, they hired Joshua Johnson a few months ago and I have yet to see him on the air (although maybe I've just missed him). He could do Hardball. He's used to having a daily show and he's smart and...calm.
  11. The other folks were members of the Broadway show company. It will be back on Broadway in September. https://americanutopiabroadway.com/
  12. Hope this isn't too personal, but I hope @Galileo908 is out having a lovely evening and hasn't abandoned us...
  13. And how could I forget - "It's Fiddler on the Roof for Wasps - The Sound of Music"
  14. John Mulaney just brings out the best in this show. I hope he continues to show up at least once every season. And, we may have to try to see the David Byrne show on Broadway in the fall.
  15. OMG - airport sushi. Which means nothing to you all, but is deeply personal to me. This is epic!!! And...it branched out so far from just airport sushi. Brilliant!
  16. I looooooooooove John Mulaney. That is all.
  17. Hope you had a marvelous birthday @UYI!!!
  18. Golden-mantled River Wallaby I don't know what to say, except that I'm not changing my name. No matter what. So there!
  19. The one before was by Massimo Vignelli. I loved that map. The Hertz map is functional, but the Vignelli map was practically art. And it got me where I needed to go, so it did work.
  20. The audience was into it, but not rowdy at all. I actually thing rowdy might have helped because I think this show needs all the energy it can muster. The Queens were workin' it onstage, but if the audience doesn't respond appropriately, the show can fall a bit flat. I'm not in favor of singing along or getting up and dancing, but I felt there needed to be a little more happening from the crowd.
  21. Here's my review - I agree 😄 Such great music, it's too bad the book sucks so bad. The orchestra was fabulous. I thought Douglas Sills was quite good, but didn't think much of Alexandra Socha. She was fine, but it's hard to get Bernadette Peters out of my mind. Overall, glad I saw it, but don't need to see it again. Saw Six last night. Lots of fun, but another show I don't need to see again. I'll just continue listening to the cast recording on a loop.
  22. I'm seeing this tomorrow night. Expect my review to be either "I agree" or "I don't agree " 😄
