Going to the game today! Yay!!!!!!!!!! I'm leaving the house and seeing a friend who I haven't seen since the Before Times. And my sister! And the weather is lovely! (Too bad the team isn't, but we can't have everything).
  2. OMG, thanks for reminding me about tribute sites, @smittykins! Here's the one from WPGC. I even have it bookmarked on my computer and totally forgot about it! https://www.amandfmmorningside.com/
  3. I finally caught up. Firstly (sorry @catlover79), I just don't like Jay Leno. I find him untalented, unfunny (which is too bad, because he used to be funny, way back before he stole The Tonight Show) and really grating. I also can't watch Fallon, so The Tonight Show has not been on my TV since Carson left. I think NBC totally screwed Conan and I'd have no use for them if they hadn't given Late Night to Seth. Love Seth. I hope he's featured more coming up, along with Craig Ferguson who I think was brilliant. Or is brilliant - it's just that I don't know what he's been up to since he left his Sirius show. I think I heard them say that Bill Maher was on Comedy Central when he was first mentioned and I was frantically googling that to make sure I remembered it was ABC. Later, when they talked about his being fired, they did say ABC, but I thought the first error was pretty bad. I liked Bill back then, and for many years into Real Time, but had to stop watching a few years ago. He's just bad now. I remember Dave and 9/11. And Dave and the heart attack. And Dave and the blackmail scheme. And Dave and Harry's birth. Have I mentioned I love Dave? 😄 I also find it amazing how much better Kimmel is now than when he started. I prefer to forget his previous persona and go with his present one. Sorry about the long post. I'm just really enjoying this series.
  4. Here are a couple of airchecks from the station of my misspent youth - WPGC, Washington. First, from 1974, which would be right in my mid-teen years: Then, from 1969, a tad before I was really into the whole radio thing: A friend of mine sent me a CD of the New Years Eve broadcast from WPGC for ... a year in the 70s sometime (I've forgotten at the moment and don't feel like looking for the disc :) ). It was a lot of fun listening to radio from my formative years.
  5. A very nice article about Kate Winslet in The Week Magazine
  6. I pay bills for rich people. With their money, not mine, so it's okay.
  7. I have tickets to our first post-pandemic shows - yay! Steve Earle and The Dukes with The Mastersons opening - late July Outlaw Music Festival in late September with the following lineup: Willie Nelson and the family, Sturgill Simpson (yay!), Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats, Gov't Mule, Kathleen Edwards. I'm so looking forward to these. I'm also a little nervous since I haven't been out in public in quite a while... well, not in crowds, anyway.
  8. The best part of that article was the typo of someone sending Rand "white power" instead of "white powder".
  9. Actually, that is not all. There was also George Clooney. And, John's tie was turning weird colors when he leaned forward. Now, that's all.
  10. Nazi-era fuck blanket. That is all.
  11. I thought I was the only one doing that! I always FF through the commercials, but make sure I watch the last segment because I need to know that Seth loves me. Does this mean I'm not doing well? Yikes 😄
  12. Here's a run down of the week's activities from WaPo. It sounds like it should be a nice show. I hope it comes together well for TV viewing. https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/43rd-annual-kennedy-center-honors/2021/05/22/7259ab90-baff-11eb-96b9-e949d5397de9_story.html
  13. I think Stephen has really loosened up since they moved from home to the storage closet. I really enjoy the show now, but I do understand him wanting to get back to the theatre and the audience and Jon (I miss Jon being there!). I will say that when they ran clips (or maybe it was an entire show-I don't actually remember) a while ago of the show in the theatre, I was really distracted by how noisy it was. I'm fine either way since I love the show, but the theatre is so... noisy. (I'm sure I'll adapt).
  14. Couple of dud sketches, but most of them hit. Anya Taylor-Joy was really charming and down for anything. It was weird though that while she was in most of the sketches, she blended in so well it was almost like she either wasn't there, or part of the regular cast. Which is good, I guess. I was thinking during Judge Jeanine that she was going to run out of wine to toss before it was over. Shoulda known they thought of that 😄 Thanks @Galileo908for another stellar season. Your recaps are much appreciated. Have a great summer everyone!
  15. I need Helen Keller Barbie. And I don't think I've laughed as hard as I just did at Update. And then got so sad to see Charles Grodin...
  16. Wow... that was lovely. I may be tearing up a little. Just a little...
  17. I haven't watched last night's show yet, but there's no way people are working for free. They have unions (yay!) and that just doesn't happen. Also, Seth is always (or mostly always) a rerun on Fridays.
  18. I don't think "Heaven Can Wait" has been mentioned. Grodin was so hilarious in that movie with Dyan Cannon. I loved the entre movie, but the two of them were especially golden.
  19. I'd like to thank you for your thoughtful, well-written response to the original question in the Annoying thread. And the subsequent responses there and here. Have fun at the new Dollar Store!
  20. OMG - how could I mention him being with Dave (Letterman) and not remember that he was in Dave (the movie)! I love Dave (the movie)!!!
  21. Midnight Run is a wonderful movie. Also loved him with Letterman. RIP Charles - this makes me really sad. I feel like I've been sad a lot recently.
  22. In case it makes @Umbelinafeel better, this also happened to me a couple of times on the same day, but it hasn't happened since. And I haven't changed any Chrome settings. Ghost in the machine, I guess...
  23. David Letterman is a genius. Well, maybe not, but he's damn funny. I don't think I knew (or maybe I'd forgotten) that it seems that Jay owes his success to Dave. And honestly, Jay was a really funny guy. Until he wasn't.

You sound somewhat surprised by this. Have you never heard that Camden Yards is Yankee Stadium (or Fenway, depending...) South? This is why the first game I'm going to this season is Memorial Day - all of the weekends this month are either Yankees or Saux games and...no thanks.
