I saw him in Sunday in the Park With George a few (or more) years ago. Since I don't really know a lot about him, I just assumed he was a singer or they wouldn't have cast him in a part originated by Mandy Patinkin. Turns out it was his Broadway musical debut. He was quite good.

Agree! Starting with the Ziegfeld/Follies sketch, I enjoyed it. I thought the CO and the monologue and the first 2 sketches were meh, but it got much better after. Thanks again @Galileo908for your invaluable recaps each week. Couldn't do it without you since the entire show flies from my brain right after it's over. Have a lovely summer everyone!!

Real Time with Bill Maher in the Media

Bill and Maureen Dowd - a deadly combination. Thanks for the warning. -
Well shit. I was about to give away my Yankees tickets, but now how will I watch? Other than on my computer or phone... At 11:35 in the MORNING! Who schedules games before noon??? 😄

I really enjoyed this! Lots of fun, silly sketches and everyone was having fun. And Maya is just perfection. Thanks @Galileo908for posting the Lauren Bacall commercial. I'd never seen it, but the sketch was great, even noting that the actress had a "difficult" reputation. So true to life. Good show!

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

I know!! It used to show up on my custom home page after I followed it, but now I have to manually go to Other TV Talk to get to it. Life is soooooo hard 😉 -
The AppleTV+ broadcast crew is terrible. That is all.
-
Um... it's actually not that difficult. And 9.99 times out of 10, really fun.

I got a new episode last night with Jordan Klepper. I believe I read that Jon will be doing Thursdays for a few weeks? Or at least this week.
-
They did. It will take me a while to get comfortable...

Mr. ebk dropped a computer (desktop processer) on his foot sometime last year resulting in a broken foot. I hope your toe is not as badly hurt! However, don't wait a month before going to the doctor if it doesn't heal. Not that we have experience with that here at the house... The most important thing 😉 -
Really entertaining recaps. And very interesting (mostly) discussion. I loved hanging out reading, although I didn't post much.

Since we're chatting about old times here, I was scrolling through Twitter and saw this and had to share

Found it - not behind a paywall. Also, if you google Bernie Williams NY Phil, there are a few interviews. I didn't listen (because, why would I? 😉) but there's one with CBS radio in NY. ETA: I found a website with the entire Athletic article on it. There's also a bunch of news aggregated from other sites, but the About This Site was in a foreign language and Google doesn't have any info on it. So I deleted the link. If you feel safe, you can easily find it. The CBS radio interview is still there.

For all you Yankee fans (and subscribers to The Athletic since I can't figure out how to share this - sorry): Bernie Williams will play with the NY Philharmonic this week

@RealHousewife, I know this probably won't help, but I've found that the first 2 to 3 months of a new job really make you miss the old job, no matter how much you think you didn't like it. Then, one day, it's all better. I hope this works out for you!!

Quick reviews of the shows I saw a couple of weeks ago: Uncle Vanya - I didn't hate it. I have no background in Chekov (oddly enough since I have a degree in theatre), so I don't know the play at all. I thought Alison Pill was the standout. Mia Katigbak was also very good. Steve Carell, in his Broadway debut, was good, as was the rest of the cast...other than Anika Noni Rose. She was just strange. The stagecraft was great. We saw the 2nd preview, so I think the stagehands were still figuring out how quickly they had to do the intermission thing. Glad I went. Don't know if I'd see it again. Doubt - an incredible play. I went from "so sure of this" to "well, maybe I'm wrong" to "I'm almost sure". The cast was brilliant. I'm still sorry that Tyne Daly had to drop out. I still have no idea who Amy Ryan is, but she's great. And I love Liev Schreiber. There was a Q&A after the show that day. Liev is really funny. He was on a couple of the late night shows the following week. So personable. I'd definitely see this again. Mother Play - the new Paula Vogel play. I loved it. The cast is soooo great. I read some takes on the Broadway board saying the play breaks no new ground, but I don't think every play needs to do that if it connects emotionally and has well-drawn characters, which IMO this play does. I do think it may have helped that Vogel grew up where I did and went to the schools I did and dropped so many local references and school names that my BFF since junior high school and I were constantly elbowing each other and trying not to make noise. I felt kinda sorry for Mr. ebk since he did not go to the same schools and felt left out. One the way out, Vogel was sitting in the back row of the orchestra so we stopped to chat and reminisce about our high school drama teacher. It was lovely. We also ate a lot of good food, but that's for another thread.

Yeah. They don't have to take on really depressing topics every week, but this was kinda... weird. Like they wanted to take the week off, but had to do a show because...contract. I do love when they skewer CNBC.

I spend most of the hour telling Mr. ebk "this show is really stupid." I'm quite sure that after Robyn killed the guy on the plane and clawed her way back in, that she just turned the plane around, flew back and landed it. Because...of course. Ah well. It's mindless entertainment. Totally mindless.

I have no idea if this will work, but I'd call the number on the card and ask. They may send you a new one. The funds don't go back to the purchaser and who wants Visa to keep the money. Not me! -
Don't take this the wrong way, but yeah, you don't understand how being a sports fan works! 😉 There's nothing quite as satisfying as a life-long sports grudge/hate. Just ask me about any NYC sports team - or better yet, don't...
