  1. I haaaaaate the BMW commercial where dad whined "but I don't wanna wear my new ski suit" and goes back inside. Then the family leaves and realizes dad isn't with them, so they go back and he comes out of the house in an orange ski suit yelling "who's ready to shred some pow!" (WTF????) And then the woman says "floor it". Did dad get in the car, or did she change her mind about taking him and wants out? I don't understand it. And I hate it. The whining and the yelling and, well, everything about it. Blech.

Once more, with feeling (I posted this during the dark time here and it was swallowed up). This is a gifted link for my Yankee-fan friends here (and everyone else). I think the hair policy is silly, but if it actually keeps some good players from signing, I'm fine with it. Although I agree with the part that says if you pay me enough, I'll cut my hair and shave... https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/18/style/yankees-beard-hair-policy.html?unlocked_article_code=1.Hk0.e2zg.qBS0Ild2mWfC&smid=url-share
  3. I don't participate in the contest, and in fact, I pretty much stopped watching the show due to the strikes, but I'm not leaving this forum because I enjoy the people so much. I hope Saber knew what a kind community formed here due to her setting up this contest. This is very sad news.
  4. Jim Ladd has died. Since I live on the other coast from where he came to fame back in the day, I didn't really experience his on-air style until he came to XM Radio. I was an immediate fan and I'll truly miss his show. The Last DJ indeed...
  5. They're on CBS. I don't want anyone to miss them - always a fun show.

I was getting ready to hit the sad reaction - but really, Utz Ballpark would be awesome! Or this! Or maybe McCormick Spice-y Field! Just please spare me the big corporate telecom company.
  7. That's a beautiful tribute to your mother, @Yogisbooboo64. Thank you for sharing. When me sister died 2 years ago, I was offered grief counseling. I didn't take them up on that, but they did contact me a couple more times for the first year, which I appreciated, even if I didn't need to accept. Don't totally rule it out. See how the coming months unfold. It could be helpful - it could be unnecessary. All good thoughts to you and your family.
  8. We'll be making a rare early spring visit because I must see the new Paula Vogel play with Jessica Lange. And while we're there, we're also seeing Uncle Vanya and Doubt. And maybe something else. It will be different being there when it's not freezing in January or sweltering in August. Or maybe it won't be that different because who know how the weather will be.
  9. You're my best sports friend here in PrimetimerLand! 😉 Actually, my "other" best friend whose birthday in on Halloween is also my best baseball buddy here. She interned with us back in the last century and I took her to a baseball game once - and as she says, I couldn't get rid of her after that 😄 You should come to a game with me!! I love Mookie's attitude.
  10. Greta Gerwig, the director of Barbie. I saw her on with Seth Meyers this (last?) week and I thought she was so uncomfortable. The whole interview came off as a "bit" which is too bad because I was looking forward to a chat. So I totally got it when she said she's awkward being herself. I mostly enjoyed the show. I like the ABBA sketch because it got sillier as it went along. I loved Whiskers R We - thought Billie was charming. I'm not crazy about the joke swap either. And I did wonder why Maya and Kristen were in so many sketches. Not my favorite episode, but I didn't hate it.
  11. I feel the need to share...
  12. This bit with the "sunglasses of justice" (tm TWoP) made me laugh a lot.
  13. White Christmas is on Netflix. Also coming up on AMC and Sundance if you have those channels available: Sun, 12/17, 6:15 AM AMC Tue, 12/19, 2 AM AMC Sun, 12/24, 6:30 AM AMC Mon, 12/25, 8:15 AM Sundance Mon, 12/25, 1:15 PM Sundance I like Holiday Inn well enough, but I love White Christmas and must watch it at least once a year.
  14. This is horrible news.
  15. They do not...sigh... I have the last can I bought on my desk at work. I actually stopped drinking soda a long time ago, but when I saw Tab in the store I had to buy it. It served me well back in the day while I was trying to cut back on all the sugar.
  16. I thought Tiny Ass Bags was great. I loved the Norman Lear bumper, and Bowen giving a come-hither look to the camera in the extra long good-nights. And I love Julia Stiles. And that's about it for this show.
  17. We're seeing this in March. I love the show and am looking forward to it, even while wondering if the gender change will actually work.
  18. The magic of live theater! That's why I love it. We went to see Swept Away yesterday. It's a new musical using songs by the Avett Brothers about a shipwreck and the aftermath. Quite powerful, the cast was excellent and the songs worked so well in the show you'd think they were written specifically for it. I hope it transfers to Broadway in the new year and is successful.
  19. Penzey's has it. I always try to shop there first because they're so wonderful. They do ship if there isn't a store in your area.
  20. We just saw her here 2 weeks ago. I saw her many years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the show, but this time was much more improvisational and audience participating, and I loved it! She's so sharp and funny and really interesting. You just reminded me I need to get tickets to Lewis Black's farewell tour. He'll be here in May. Off to the Kennedy Center website!
  21. Dave never had guest hosts...until his "heart attack". There were a bunch of guest hosts during his recovery. And after that, once in a while. Carson had tons of guest hosts. The one time I went to the Tonight Show in person, Pat Sajak was hosting. Ah well...timing is everything. I don't think Stephen has been away for a long enough consecutive stretch to consider guest hosts. Until now. And even now, it hasn't been weeks on end. More like a week on, a week off. Not really something one can plan. Although I'm totally in favor of getting a guest host at this point.

And Sunday Night Football starts at 8:24 on NBC... in case you didn't hear them announce that about eleventy billion times. Have they always done that? I mean, doesn't Sunday Night Football always start at 8:something on NBC?

Does Romo ever shut his yap?? I know...
  24. After the WaPo expose on the "star" of the Jardiance ad, here's a NYT expose on Flo. I'll take Flo. Everybody knows Flo from Progressive-Who is Stephanie Courtney? (Article is gifted, so there shouldn't be a paywall)
  25. I don't find the ads on Hulu overly long or tedious or loud. They're definitely there, but not too intrusive. I say go for it!
