  1. Just off the top of my head, I checked OpenTable for Oceanaire (on F Street between 11th and 12th)...they are open on Thanksgiving and have reservations available. I've always enjoyed dinner there.
  2. I'm so fortunate that my best friend's birthday is today. We went out for a fabulous dinner at a French bistro near the Capitol. Had wine. And more wine. And mousse! No kids at the door. And no TV news!
  3. Details, if anyone is interested - voted at the community center near my house. There may have been about a dozen people in line, but the line went quickly. The ballot was 4 pages. I checked it 5 times (wanted to take a picture, but phones are banned). Put it through the scanner. Got my sticker. Whole thing took 15 minutes. Yay!
  4. He couldn't do that because there was no actual evidence of wrongdoing. As usual. However, he did try to smear her as best he could at the time by calling her careless. That's why I don't think he's acted with integrity at all.

    More baseball - woohoo!!
  6. This is kinda long, but interesting. And - "Hamilton" quotes! http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/30/magazine/from-hamilton-to-donald-trump-are-all-grievances-created-equal.html?rref=collection%2Fsectioncollection%2Fmagazine&action=click&contentCollection=magazine&region=rank&module=package&version=highlights&contentPlacement=6&pgtype=sectionfront
  7. I'm just outside DC and, oddly enough, that's the only race that seems to be running TV ads around here. Surely there must be other competitive races in the area... Although honestly, I don't want to see more ads. I just want to see fewer Comstock/Bennett ads. For the most part, they're awful.
  8. oooo...thanks for this. I'll look for it when I go champagne shopping after I vote tomorrow I worked at a theatre around the corner from the White House for 35 years. I gave up my chance to meet Bill and Hill backstage so that someone else who absolutely adored him could do it. And, I didn't think I could trust myself...

I live closer to DC, so if the Taters and the Ravens are on at the same time, we get the Taters. Otherwise, we usually get both. My sis lives in Baltimore and says that if there's any way to keep the Taters off the airways there, they do. Sigh... My allegiance... well, I used to be a Colts fan, but then they were stolen out from under my nose (boohoo), so I became a Taters fan. Then Little Napoleon bought them and now I can't stand them. And I swore I'd never be a Ravens fan because we got the team (almost) the same way we lost the Colts. Then Cleveland get another team in 3 years, and continued to whine about it. So after a few years, I thought the hell with it, and now I'm a Ravens fan. As much as I'm a football fan at all. It's baseball for me down to my soul.

This is our regional game, so we're still with it. I was just thinking it would be another tie, but now...
  11. Not that I have anything against brandy, but that's Dom Perignon in my av. While champagne is a wonderful thing, and it's true, that a $20 bottle is lovely, it really is amazing how much different the good stuff is! And now as I'm typing this, I'm thinking I should get a good bottle (not Dom good, maybe Veuve) to celebrate on the 8th! Positive thoughts... (I'm already scheduled for an Italian wine tasting at a local wine store for the 9th. Looking forward to that!)
  12. I'm so glad that David re-thought the "no politics" mandate here. I now quickly go through the forums of the shows I watch (mostly news and comedy news - and sports!) and then spend hours here reading. Such well thought out and well written opinions here! It helps me. As does wine. And yes, "Hamilton"! I wish there was a way we could all get together in person for a celebratory drink on November 9th!!!
  13. I think Comey needs to resign right now https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/justice-officials-warned-fbi-that-comeys-decision-to-update-congress-was-not-consistent-with-department-policy/2016/10/29/cb179254-9de7-11e6-b3c9-f662adaa0048_story.html?hpid=hp_rhp-top-table-main_clintonfbi1030-1142am%3Ahomepage%2Fstory
  14. Those are fabulous pictures! You're pretty good at that photography thing!!
  15. I am so intrigued that there's a website called Newscaststudio
  16. It's actually up closer to the White House - between 11th and 12th on Pennsylvania. Across from Mr ebk's favorite place for dinner between Saturday shows, Central by Michel Richard. I'm in Silver Spring and I think, for the first time ever, I'll be voting early. I have Monday off and can't think of a better way to spend Halloween that voting! Hope you feel better!!

Chris Archer in the ESPN radio booth on my drive home. I really like him. He'll be good doing commentary when he's finished playing.
  18. I live in a Maryland suburb of DC, but there really aren't too many local Congressional ads on our side of the river. However, there's a close, nasty campaign in one of the Virginia suburbs and we're getting those 3 types of ads constantly on the TV and radio. I can't wait for this to be over.

I remember (or think I do anyway) the last time Cleveland was in the WS against the team from Florida and it was so cold that Edgar Renteria was wearing a full ski-stocking cap with face covering under his team cap. That still makes me smile for some reason.

If it helps, my friend, the die-hard Cubs fan hates that he's on the team. Really hates it. However, right now, he's ecstatic... My only issue at the moment is...no baseball tomorrow night. Damn. Sorta

Wow. This Cubs thing might actually happen. Although now that I've said something...
