I am enjoying a Gloria Ferrer Royal Cuvee Brut 2002. I don't have chips, but I do have Blue Diamond Almonds (which are like crack to me!) Happy New Year everyone!
-
I second this! I've opened the bottle of champagne I had chilled for...that night...and I wanted to wish everyone here a Better New Year! Thanks for the companionship and all the thoughtful, intelligent posts!

I think there will be one at some point. I finally listened to the Off-Broadway recording today, since I have tickets for the show in February. Admittedly, I was at work so couldn't pay really close attention, but lots of it sounded the same. Like a lot of Russian music just going on and on... I need to study up before I get there.

Loved Obama and Gayle (I think it was Gayle) singing along. The James Taylor tribute was lovely. Bill Clinton on script, and Yo Yo Ma, who seems to be the most decent person ever. And there was a commercial for Bette in Hello Dolly! I guess this would be the show to advertise on. And here comes Mavis! I love Mavis!!

I'm a wineaux. I also love beer. Not a huge liquor fan, but I had a lovely pomegranate mojito at The Top of The Mark last summer. The view may have helped my enjoyment of the cocktail. Just came back from a lovely Christmas evening with family/friends. I had some wine there, but didn't want to open a bottle when I got home since it was after 10 (although I'm not sure why...), so I'm enjoying a glass of amaretto. I really must remember that I've got a few bottles of liqueur in the cabinet. L'Chaim!!

"Saint Ronnie" And the less said about Twitler, the better. -
I'd like to echo all the good wishes posted here. I don't post too often as my command of the written word is sketchy... but I'm quite sure I wouldn't have made it through these trying times without the graciousness, passion and intelligence of everyone here. Thank you all. And thanks to David and TPTB for setting up this space for us. It's been great. Happy holidays/happy weekend to all. I look forward to the conversation continuing for the foreseeable future!

Holy shit. I just read the quote about Michelle on another board and came here hoping it was fake. Did I say holy shit already? -
So last night, I bought tickets to see The Great Comet and Sunday in the Park for our Washington's Birthday weekend visit. I'm thrilled. And pretty broke.

FYI, Alpha House has been cancelled. Trudeau still doesn't seem to want to go back to daily comics.

Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
ebk57 replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
I hope I'm not repeating something that's been posted recently (yes, I've read the entire thread, but ... wine ... ), but the Gatorade commercials with the sorta takeoff of Let's Call the Whole Thing Off enrage me. Truly. I'd throw something at the TV, but I don't want to break the TV and I don't have anything except a wineglass (or my laptop) nearby. And I'd miss all of those things. -
The venue itself makes it worth going. I wish it was happening in February.

I've got tickets to see this again in February. Now I'm looking forward to it even more. As for your concert question, if you're going to the concert especially to see that one person and he/she drops out, I would hope you could get a refund if you wanted one.

I'm seeing it again in February. Really looking forward to this!

I agree with pretty much everything you both said @ElectricBoogaloo and @aradia22. I saw the film last night and thought that it was and especially important subject currently. I felt the show was pretty old-fashioned with the love stories shoehorned in (not that old-fashioned is bad, but I felt it with this show). I was uninspired by a lot of the ballads. But, all in all, I'm really happy that I managed to get the last ticket in the theatre. I was quite impressed that the show was sold out. As for the technical aspects, there were several times I thought the music tracks overshadowed the vocal tracks. And there was an odd echo for a while during act 2, but I don't know it that was a local theatre issue. Definitely glad I saw the show.

Did anyone watch the Nat Geo show? I thought it was quite interesting. I learned a lot during Cecily's segments on solar power here in the states. And Dave was...Dave. Thank goodness. Loved the shirt with his name on the back! Over in the SNL forum, someone posted this link to an interview Dave did with Tina Fey in the Hollywood Reporter. I haven't read it yet, but posting it here is my way of bookmarking it for later. I'm sure it's brilliant!! http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/features/tina-fey-david-letterman-interview-parenting-anxiety-alec-baldwin-952250

I used to think Cillizza was good when I read him in the Post. Then he started showing up several times a week on Tony Kornheiser's radio show. Now I want to kill him. Or at least have him shut his stupid mouth.

This is Mr ebk!! He's got a bible with yellow stickies marking the passages he likes to ask them about. The thing with the folks in our 'hood is, they keep coming back. It's so amusing. He's very nice to them, but they just walk away shaking their heads... I have no advice for you @Enigma X. Mr ebk leaves me out of all these conversations because my go to line is always "what are you, stupid???" So I tend not to engage. But if you feel you must, keep asking specific questions and don't accept anything but specific answers. Which they don't have. Oh, and take a bottle (or twelve) of wine with you. Good luck!

Nope. Just got a notification that it went the wrong way and the PM resigned.

I thought the show was pretty decent tonight. I was going to say it felt like Emma was hardly in it, but going over the sketches, she was in all of them. I guess she just blended in with the cast. Which could be good, or bad...depending. Sorry I'm just rambling, but the show seemed to kinda ramble to me. Not bad, but not great. Decent.
