  1. That TV Guide article talked about this and said it was Derrick who ushered in the groupthink bs. I actually don't remember much of S16 though. This crappy season has made me decide to watch BB from the beginning. I started during S5 and I know the first couple seasons are supposed to be boring, but at least it has an excuse unlike this. I gotta say, the 1980s cheese vibe is very weird considering it was shot in 2000.
  2. I missed the last three eps due to moving and I come back to Kaysar or Janelle leaving?! That really sucks. I'm glad that they still have a bond and agree there were not enough OG players. Do we really have to see Nicole 3 times? Dani 3 times? What feels like Cody 3 times? Yeah I know K&J have been on 3 times too, but they're not annoying ... maybe because they're always the underdogs.
  3. So the sequel to "Nine Lives of Christmas" is officially happening? Excited but ... it *better* be amazingly written so as not to tarnish the original.
  4. Wow, I totally thought I was the only person who felt this way. I think S6 was the first season I saw in its entirety. I don't think I ever rooted so much for an alliance as I did for Kaysar, Janelle, Howie, Rachel and ... James, I think it was? HATED Cappy and his cult which made the finale all the more horrible, but there were plenty of good moments like America voting Kaysar back in over Cappy and Janelle's famous "Bye bye, bitches!"
  5. The first episode was in West Lake, which is in Ontario. I had to Google right away as soon as I heard the homeowners' accents. I really liked it and watched both shows back to back. I loved watching "Income Property." Did HGTV air it through its final ep in 2016? It feels like it's been a good 7 - 8 years since I've seen it.
  6. Why does she need to consult experts? Doesn't she have any POC on her writing team? Unless she writes everything herself which would be stupid and no wonder she seems to fall into tropes when writing Maria, Michael and Alex. I just feel it's a little arrogant to think as a white woman she thinks she can write an African-American woman, bisexual and gay characters authentically. I wonder if she gets flack for how most of her characters are at least biracial (Kyle, Alex, Maria) but that doesn't seem to inform anything about their characters. Maybe she does, I just have no interest in following her on Twitter since I think it would make me too rage-y.
  7. Norma was an interesting person. I kept alternating between feeling sorry for her and really thinking she was awful. I can't believe she treated Connie that way. I want to know more about how Norma left after Connie had her stroke. Did that leave her with long-lasting effects for the rest of her life? I hope she had some family who took care of her. I was confused about the funeral. Why was Flip there giving the mass? Did he really not know Norma was BSing them until the filmmaker showed them her footage? I was really shocked that the other Reverend had realized what he'd done was wrong. I wish he would have explained what led to it because everything he said about why women have the right to choose is what it all boils down to. If only more people were open to hearing it.
  8. I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this here. I thought it was a very unique show based on a very unique book and thank God Sally Rooney was involved in adapting it, otherwise I think it really would have lost what makes it special. I've seen a lot of articles praising it, but not really any reviews discussing/critiquing the characters. Marianne is a very difficult character for me because I care about her so much and want her to be happy, but am so often disappointed and frustrated by her. That she doesn't feel she's worthy or deserving enough of love and is not just willing but completely accepting of other people's BS. But there is something about the character (and actress) that just makes you want to stick with her in the hope that she learns to love herself and can put what she wants ahead of pleasing other people.
  9. What was the song that Zoey sang for the presentation? An article I read said it was "Under Pressure" but that can't be possible unless my brain was having a glitch. The melody and lyrics were completely different.
  10. I'm confused about all the writing on the walls. Was Lucy losing it near the end to the point of carving and punching through walls? And then her mom and brother just wallpapered it up? I didn't get why they changed the look for Lucy. When she was in her sea queen dress it looked like she was wearing a crappy blonde wig, but picture perfect. But when they showed flashbacks of her and Ryan, her hair looked natural and she looked plainer but her attractiveness was more real, if that makes sense. I couldn't tell if we were supposed to read anything into that. Probably not, but I found the 2 looks jarring. I wonder if Sarah Canning was surprised at how much screentime she got for a dead character. Definitely more than Adam Beach and approaching the levels of Aunt Whatshername on TVD.
  11. I hated this episode. I guessed the Meyer twist early on in the ep and really wanted to be wrong. How exactly do they explain his death or claim his fortune? I feel so sorry for Ruth. He always thought Meyer left her and even spent one-on-one time with The Wolf. And I never thought the dates and age of Ruth's daughter never made sense.
  12. I'm so tired of the Lainey/Barry romance. Didn't buy it on The Goldbergs, don't buy it now. I somehow thought her realization was that she had feelings for CB. I'm sure if she does fall for him, it will be once he falls for someone else.
  13. Is anyone else astounded that they are going to keep airing Xmas movies every Thursday (HM&M) and Friday (Hallmark) for the rest of the year?? They must really want their audience to get sick of them by the time summer rolls around.
  14. Soooo did Mrs. Coulter know Asriel had the know how to release a bunch of energy by killing the child/daemon and she was trying to adjust it so it would "only" sever their bond, but keep them alive? I just don't understand why what he did actually killed Roger and Salcilia. I kept hoping maybe he was still alive and if Lyra brought him to our world he might be okay since we don't have daemons. Are we going to see more of Andrew Scott? Isn't he too big to only see him in a couple video clips? Unless this was filmed pre-Fleabag.
  15. Who ended up winning on the Monday 12/16 episode? My DVR cut off right before they said the winner's name. It was between the lantern, ornament box and oven. Thanks.
  16. But didn't Will tell Angela that it was Jon who told him to work with Trieu when he visited him 10 years before? So it wasn't his idea to betray Manhattan. It was just what was going to happen.
  17. Right, and in this case, the whiny bullies were One Million Moms. Hallmark had made the decision to air the Zola commercials. OMM freaked out and Hallmark caved and agreed to remove the ads. People tweeting or posting to Hallmark that they should be inclusive, especially around the holiday built around love and family that they dedicate SOOO much of their programming to, isn't bullying. People saying "let's treat everyone as equals and give them the respect that we would want ourselves" is never going to be the wrong thing to do. How people like OMM can defend what they are arguing for is "right" is beyond me. And I say this as a Catholic and Christian. Not sure why the heck it matters but apparently Christians feel the need to point out that we're Christian.
  18. I'm a non-book reader. I totally didn't realize the townspeople had deliberately ignored Billy. I thought it was an abandoned town, but maybe I wasn't paying attention. For me, the concept of seeing a human without their soul is actually hard to comprehend as horrifying, but I do get that daemon = life, no daemon = death. To that end, since the Gyptians did take the daemons that had been severed, is it stupid to think that if the children are reunited with them, it could make them somewhat better? Also, am I understanding Ms. Coulter's reasoning correctly? She thinks daemons are bad because they cause you to self-doubt and do bad things once you hit puberty?
  19. So who in the 7K is genius enough to have created that tacyonic cannon and whatever will transfer Manhattan's powers to Joe Keene? Were they able to somehow steal Veidt's research?
  20. Yup, there was a shout out to Danica McKeller and Hallmark in "Knives Out." I chuckled and then cringed that I still do watch Hallmark movies for some reason. I caught the end of My Christmas Love this morning. I've always thought it was super cute, but now I'm surprised that it doesn't follow that many of the mandatory Hallmark tropes even though it only came out 3 years ago. Maybe they got a pass because they literally go through every single gift from the Twelve Days of Christmas. I'd like to see Bobby Campo in a movie again. Aaron O'Connell too. He can't act, but I think he's prettier than Ryan Paevey.
  21. I never read the novel, but I looked up the synopsis to see how closely they followed the story. They completely switched the sisters' personalities. smh I wish Kimberley Sustad had been the lead (of any movie). She's really funny, except for in A Godwink Christmas - which I thought was too serious of a movie for her.
  22. Do we actually know what June's last name was? Unless 6-year-old Will knew who she was as a baby, he must have made up her name. Or else she came up with her own name once she was old enough.
  23. I don't know if this has already been discussed but I didn't realize that Cal's last name is Abar. Is it common that a man would take his wife's last name or did Angela just not want to come up with a last name for him?
