  1. Well, I just saw that Natalie and her mother will be on that show "the mother daughter experiment." That makes how many reality shows she's been on now? I'm impressed. You actually can parlay being on the bad girls club into more than 15 minutes of fame. Or rather, infamy.
  2. I wonder if she would have posted that if that guy lived in Dallas. He tweeted: "@DCC_Kelsey @DCCheerleaders my wife just counted the Kelsey pics on my page, over 50, now thinks I'm obsessed, I think room for more lol" 60 is a lot. It doesn't reach my threshold for crazy scary, but it's a lot. And I can't imagine any scenario where I'd be ok with my husband tattooing the image of another woman on a large, highly visible part of his body. (and badly, I might add.) Crazy aside, this is disrespectful to his wife.
  3. What are people basing the negative opinions of rookie Holly on? Has she done something that people didn't like? It seems like this time last year, as auditions were approaching, everyone was saying how great she was. When did that change? And why? I missed whatever it was.
  4. Still with him? Please say you're kidding. I really hope she's not thinking "But I looooooove him and he's innocent, and I'll just explain that to Kelli and she'll totally understand that it's not fair that he's in prison and how great it is that I'm standing by him in the middle of all of this injustice." No, sweetie. Kelli will not understand. I predict if she does audition, and somehow makes it into training camp without this coming to light, she will mysteriously disappear from the show with no explanation whatsoever.
  5. It really is. A has-been at age 19. I wonder if any other "cheerlebrities" will show up a this year's auditions. I also wonder if any of Mia's other sisters will audition. Doesn't she have like 4 or 5 sisters who dance? I thought I read that somewhere.
  6. Surely Evan has told her to take that GK stuff down immediately, right? Or at least make it private.I know Gaebri is only 19 or so, but in this day and age, how could you not be savvy enough to realize that once you put yourself out there as someone who is going to audition, people will be watching. By the time Gaebri auditions, all of that GK stuff will be two years in the past. She may think it's old news. But when I was scrolling through, I wasn't look at the dates, so it might as well have been yesterday. It would be smart to assume that people will look through all of your social media stuff since the day you opened your account. Regarding how much the DCC make, I read somewhere that the Radio City Rockettes make about $1500 a week during their performance season. I wonder if the amount of time they invest in rehearsal and performance each week is comparable to the DCC.
  7. For me Danielle most embodies the image of the all-American, girl next door. I think she's adorable.
  8. Isn't all star cheer over at some point? Is that an activity for kids? I don't know anything about it, but it seems like you would age out of it at some point. If her all-star career is coming to an end, I'd think interest in her would die down, fame fizzles, sponsorships dry up, etc. She might be looking for something else to do, like coaching, collegiate cheer, DCC or maybe the Baltimore Ravens cheerleaders (they do tumbling and stunting like the all-star stuff). I'd be surprised if she wasn't on a college cheer team now. It would be interesting if she tried out for DCC again though. I think Cami is on par with most of the DCC girls, falling into the "very pretty but not amazingly stunning/drop dead gorgeous" category. If she can get dolled up for all-star, seems like she could get dolled up for DCC. Both groups wear tons of makeup, fake tan, eyelashes, etc. Same difference to me.
  9. I found Victoria's twitter handle and googled it + "happy birthday" and found that she turned 16 last fall, so no audition for her this year.
  10. I wonder if that Cami girl will try out again. (I think it was Cami, right? Her mom was a DCC. Maybe it was Kimmy?)
  11. I'm bringing this over from the media thread, where there was some discussion about Evan Anderson and Sarah Idziak's younger sisters (Gaebri Anderson and Tessa Brennan, respectively) trying out for DCC this year. Gaebri Anderson is dating convicted sex offender Greg Kelley. Or at least she was, as recently as summer of 2014 when he was convicted, and she has several videos supporting the "fight for GK" campaign on her youtube page. This article from earlier this month has details on the Greg Kelley case. This article is a page from the "Fight for GK" campaign, which is a group of strong supporters who do not believe he is guilty. This article, is from a group that does believe he is guilty, and quotes Gaebri as his high school sweetheart Who is to say whether he is guilty or not. (Well, I guess the judge and jury have declared it, actually), but regardless, I wonder if this kind of thing would hurt Gaebri's chances at becoming a DCC. She hasn't done anything wrong. And given that she moved to LA, probably broke it off with him some time in the last 18 months. However, the DCC have to be squeaky clean, above reproach in every way. Would Kelli and Judy look askance at someone who is still openly supporting a convicted pedophile? Even if she is related to a DCC who was very popular in her day? I kinda think "yes." Because it's sooooo easy to go with the headline "DCC connected to child molester" without digging into the backstory, whether he was railroaded, whether she was young and dumb for being with him, how much support he's getting from his church, etc.
  12. Gaebri Anderson has some controversial stuff going on in her personal life that could make it difficult for her to make the team. I'll take this over to small talk, so as not to derail the conversation here.
  13. I don't remember who has been the point girl each year during the run of this show (that would be an interesting trivia question - who can list the point girl each year from season 1?) But it seems to me that in addition to being one of the best performers, the point girl also has to be very photogenic, since she is often the most visible person during performances. Jen Amburn is very pretty, but I wouldn't consider her one of the more photogenic members of the team.
  14. I believe the cheerleaders sign a contract for a certain period of time, which is probably from some point in training camp until shortly before the next year's auditions. If a cheerleader resigns or is terminated before the end of that term she would be considered as someone who left the team. Conversely, a retiree would be someone who completes the entire contract term and chooses not to audition for another year.
  15. There is something seriously janky when an "all-star" comes on this show, wins the first round, and is amazed because she's never won a challenge before. If you've never won anything before, not even ONE challenge, how the heck are you an all -star? The bar is so low, it's on the floor.
  16. The right person won, but the right person did not go home. Either Emily or Mitchell should've been the exit this week.
  17. Am I the only one who was raised Catholic in the house who went "say what...?" when Asha told her First Communion story? I don't practice anymore, but for some reason, that story captured my imagination. I remember my First Communion. Everyone in a simple white dress, white shoes, and a white veil. That was costume enough, never mind a giant crown. Maybe Asha belonged to one of those congregations where the event was about showing out, and all the little girls trying to outdo each other. Maybe she fit right in with a huge white cylinder on her head. But dressing your child like an actual queen for that type of occasion seems like such a weirdly inappropriate, immodest, "my child is a special snowflake" kind of thing to do.
  18. Neet, I will admit that I read that three times through and your argument escapes me. I'm not I'm not throwing shade, I just want to understand the point you are trying to make in those first 5-6 sentences. What do you mean by "shrugging off of accountability regarding this supposed backlash she's getting"? The backlash against Avalon's current appearance seems real enough. The past couple of pages on this forum bear that out. Whether she's doing it to be different, because she doesn't care, or because she's not savvy enough to realize that personal appearance affects the way she is perceived (and in this case, they way people will vote), the general impression here seems to be that she could put a little more attention into her grooming. Not that she needs to wear a dress, but that she should wear things that are better quality, better fitting, and more polished-looking. I don't think that's supposed backlash, I think that's the actual backlash, right there. As for accountability, you lost me. Who is shrugging it off? Avalon? Society? Us? Are you saying that Avalon is accountable for her style but is saying that she is not? Or that someone here is saying that she is not? I didn't pick up on that at all. As far as I recall, everyone seems to recognize that her wardrobe is her choice. Nobody is forcing her to dress the way she does, and nobody is trying to make her change to conform. I think that's what you meant about the contestants who are ultra-girly. They aren't being forced anymore than Avalon is. Again, I'm not calling you out, just trying to follow your logic. I do have to disagree in one area. You said of Avalon "Her voice fits her style" and I couldn't disagree more. To me, she has a very girly-pop, prettyish voice, which is totally at odds with her physical appearance. I believe she alluded to as much during her first audition, when she said people do not expect her to sound the way she sounds because of the way she looks.
  19. Ancient Aliens and the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders show. That would be really funny.
  20. I dislike Peach and her whole family immensely. I hate to say that about a kid, but a kid can be a jerk as much as any adult, and with her DNA, it seems unavoidable. She's got an enormous chip on her shoulder and she's one of least gracious children I've ever seen on tv. You can be confident and "do you" but you don't have to arrogant and evil. Every word that comes out of her mouth drips with attitude and belligerence. I really hope she doesn't win, but maybe her whole attitude is ok in the rap game because it's part of her swagger. I'm trying to figure out if her name is ironic, because usually when someone is described as a peach, it's because she is nice, kind, pleasant to be around. You know...the opposite of supa peach. But what do I know? I thought those 2 crucial (two crucial? too crucial?) guys were no more interesting than the other kids on the show. They were no more Supa than Peach. "You did dat. You tried dat. You copy me." Delivered with the finesse of a 5 year old.
  21. Totally agree with this. In the beginning, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they were fleeing an abusive relationship or something. But it quickly became obvious that they were only telling half of the story and the benefit of the doubt started to erode. I sincerely doubt that Jyllian promised to always have the birth family in Evelyn's life. I have no doubt that's what Olivia *heard* and what she now *remembers* but I question whether it was actually said. The birth family...what a nightmare. I have no doubt some things went on that they did not understand. But they've become so entrenched in the role of victim, they use it as a license to be complete a-holes to the woman who provided a stable, loving home environment when they could not. It was amazing to watch Olivia and company plant their flag in the moral high ground - as if they have a leg to stand on. When Evelyn was adopted, Jyllian was in a committed relationship with a stable home and a career that allowed her to be at home with Evelyn. Contrast that against a 15 year old runaway foster kid, with ongoing family drama, who was dumb enough to get knocked up and was working part time at a fast food joint. She (and her mother!) were simply not in a position to provide what a baby needs. What has happened since the adoption does not matter. So Jyllian is divorced? So she's been to Vegas? So she's got a sparkly dress? Now contrast that against Olivia, who is also a single mother. Again. And probably underemployed. Still. Olivia's whining "Why does SHE get to go to Vegas?" told me everything I need to know about her maturity level. I would really love to know what those three women thought being on Dr. Phil would do for them. Did they hope to shame Jyllian into allowing them access? To argue her into giving Evelyn back? Bravo for Jyllian telling them to hit the road. This was a closed adoption, and she doesn't owe them a damn thing. I hope she keeps the restraining order, blocks them everywhere she can block them, and goes on about her life. Evelyn doesn't know those women and doesn't need them in her life. If she were to meet them now, they would terrify her. I hope when she turns 18, she's able to withstand the drama when those three women finally get ahold of her. The birth family and all of their detective work, "proof", and name-calling just made themselves look bitchy, shady, jealous, and not very bright. Meanwhile, kudos to Phil for twisting the knife that extra little bit by saying things to Olivia like "don't you want to feel those little arms around your neck" and "she's the only one who can put that little hand in yours." A nice bit of imagery to fuel Olivia's already overblown notions of what it would be like to reunite with Evelyn. As for the son's band, whatEVER. I changed the channel as soon as I found out what the surprise was. Were they any good? And was there a particular need to identify the son's girlfriend? I mean, who cares? There's something down right evil about exposing a family's pain about the loss of a child, and then flipping right over into bragging about his and his wife's own amazing relationship with their phenomenally talented offspring. (snort)
  22. A few random thoughts: 1. When I saw Gianna's first audition, I thought she has a voice that is better than average and powerful. And great - I really liked that BKS song in the 80s. Now, with every subsequent appearance on my screen, my disbelief grows. I don't think about her good-ish singing anymore. I'm too focused on the fact that they are still throwing around the BKS thing. As if having a mother who was a one-hit-wonder 30 years ago, and a has-been ever since is something amazing that requires us to take notice of the daughter, and push her into the top ten. Whenever Gianna is on screen, I play a game with myself. "Would Gianna have made it this far if her parent was_______?" The guy from Right Said Fred? One of the Mary Jane Girls? That woman who sang 99 Luftballoons? 2. Regarding Jeneve and Avalon and their looks, think they are both talented singers. But I don't think either one of them is so scary-talented, or so fabulously unique-looking that conventional standards of attractiveness go out the window. In the world of manufactured stardom and hype that they are trying to break into, looks and sex appeal matter. They can both stick to their guns and be true to themselves or whatever, but neither of them will win this contest that way. I don't care if Avalon is a tomboy, but sometimes you need to adapt your style out of respect for the occasion. You don't have to wear a dress and heels, but you do need to elevate your regular day wear. The way she dresses tells me she doesn't give a crap, so neither do I. As for Jeneve, I see the braces as a real barrier. They can change her hair, her wardrobe, and her cosmetics, but the braces make her look very young and unsophisticated. (Sorry braces wearers.) I can't see her on the cover of People Magazine with those braces. The problem with these two is neither Avalon nor Jeneve is bucking convention in a way that is interesting or compelling. They are caught between a rock and a hard place. The looks they are rocking are by turns unattractive and comical. And yet, I doubt either one could successfully carry off a "pop" makeover and look comfortable with pouty lips, beachy waves, body-con outfits, and all that jazz. Damned if they do. Damned if they don't. I think they are both doomed as far as this competition goes..
  23. I don't understand this attitude. How is it Tristan's fault that her mother got time off and got to be there for her? Or that American Idol is using the military thing as an angle for the show? Those things are out of Tristan's control. Why punish her or wish her ill for it? She's just trying to win a singing contest. Seems to me your beef is with the military and the producers.
