  1. I got sucked into this show against my will. I absolutely was not going to watch one single episode. But I was flipping through the channels and came across this one just as they were asking Teya (or whatever her name is) if she's 100% certain that she's the sister of Tito's three boys. I didn't catch the whole deal. How did she get them in a room with her? I don't understand. If she did a paternity test with Tito, why does she need one with the brothers? I have to say, any idea I had that she might be telling the truth dissolved when she hid from Jermaine, and then asked to keep the DNA test results secret. If she *knows* she's their sister, there should be no fear of the test results. Much to my chagrin, I'm either going to have to watch the next episode of this show, or ask Google how this played out in real life.
  2. The poor man is probably glad to have some privacy for the first time in weeks. I know I would be.
  3. The top she initially made was white, if I recall correctly. Then Tim told her the top didn't match the bottoms, so she created that matchy matchy blue crop top. They really should have given the designers some examples of 3D printing to play around with before the sketching, to help them figure out how to incorporate them into a garment. It was obvious that the designers had not worked with the technology before, and had no idea what the finished product would look and feel like, or really what the potential was to do something really cool. So they just desgined these little lego-like doodads that turned out to be completely unnecessary, non-cohesive embellishments.
  4. I got that vibe as well, probably because there were 3 or 4 different scenes of her exercising, which has the effect of making it look like she does it excessively. Which takes me on the leap to she must be doing it because she used to have a weight problem. My initial thought was maybe she was trying to make the distinction between insta-father, and father figure. There's something off about Melanie's son's enthusiasm about Devar. The kid sounded a little prompted. Not so much that he's been actually coached, but that he's saying what he knows his mom wants to hear. I'm glad for his sake he only sees her on the weekends, because here's another lady moving a stranger into her house and expecting her kid to be not only ok with it, but enthusiastic. Meanwhile, it's going to be nothing but awkward and uncomfortable for the kid. Yes, I thought that was pretty thoughtless. He looked so tired. I felt bad for him. Her energy really put me off. She's the kind of person who is exhausting just to be around. There's a huge difference between converting people in another country, and bringing them into your family and home. I'm not defending his parents, but let's be practical here. If your (extremely young and naive) kid comes in and says he met a girl who used to be a partier and go-go dancer, but she's totally different now, do you believe it? His parents know that not all conversions "take" and it's highly likely that Aleksandra will revert back to previous behavior and attitudes. I'm skeptical of any relationship where one partner changes their whole life for the other. And I'm doubly skeptical when someone professes to have changed religion (and really their whole belief system and world view) for love, especially love with someone they don't know very well. And I definitely got the vibe that she converted for him, not because of some deep change inside herself. It's very easy to proclaim (and believe!) that your sinning days are over and you've been redeemed. Much more difficult to actually do it.
  5. Project Runway fan fic? Please tell me you're kidding. I mean, I know there's fan fic about everything...but reality shows too? And Project Runway? It boggles the mind.
  6. I think she was trying to make Leigh look like a loser. But Cat just kinda made herself look jealous, because why is she so busy thinking about Leigh and Hanna's relationship?
  7. I wonder if she has to do all the heavy lifting to keep everyone "employed" now that Michael has gone. Seriously, how do these people make a living?
  8. Is it my imagination or did Diane repeatedly call her Anna Beth?
  9. Maybe they should have a "Project Runway: Do-overs" season. Each week, the designers with the highest scores get another day and another trip to mood to fry to fix their creations and get the win. Or maybe a "Project Runway: Big Bucks" season where all the challenge budgets are doubled so that everyone afford twice as much fabric, to be used for the inevitable second (or third!) garment.
  10. In my mind, the difference of opinion upthread illustrates perfectly exactly why this show is still on. Even though the show isn't even sort of about finding and nurturing amazing fashion talent. Even though the quality of the designers, the challenges, the judges, the mentoring, and just about everything else has declined steadily. It's because as crappy as this show has become, people still form MAJOR opinions about what happens on every episode, and still defend their opinions as passionately as they did in season one. We're all still watching. We all still care. (Maybe not quite as many of us as in years ago, but still millions of us.) And that's all the producers really want. They don't give a flying fig about being fair to the contestants, finding new talent, being logical in the evaluations, or consistent in the mentoring. And they (obviously) don't care what kind of editing acrobatics and manipulation they to do to manufacture the storyline and "characters". They just need us to care, so our butts are in the seats every week, and advertisers will fork over the $$$. We fall for it every season. How many of us have vowed in the past to quit this show? I know I have, and more than once. Yet here we all are.
  11. And she put pockets in it. Pockets in a peplum!! I refuse to believe I am the only one disturbed by that. We get that you know how to make pockets, Ashley. They are nifty, but they aren't a necessary part of every garment and they don't show off any particularly magical skills on your part.
  12. I really expected Zac to be a little less hands-y with the models this time. He managed to flash us one crew member's bra, and was ironic that it was the one crew member who didn't even want to show her arms and legs. I was a little perplexed by this challenge. Didn't Tim say at the beginning something like the crew member should agree on what type of occasion they want the garment for, but the outfit should be the designer's vision, and the designer should not complain at the end that the client "made them" make such and such garment? Did I imagine that? Maybe I did, because the crew members certainly didn't hear that. I didn't care for the one in white at all, whichever one she was. It seems that, along with deciding that plus-size is her niche, Ashley has also decided that quirky fabrics are her niche. And they aren't. They really aren't. And the sad thing is, if Lindsay had made it this far, they never would've paired her with that crew member. As if anyone who values their reputation in this industry would climb aboard this Titanic of a reality show. You know what I think would be an interesting challenge? If they had to make two of the same garment, one for a model and one for a real woman, and make them walk the runway side by side.
  13. Can we all agree that we are waaaaay past the point where Ashley gets extra credit for putting pockets in her garment? Pockets in a peplum? WHY?
  14. Whatever people say about the merits of Candace's garments (and I'm no fan), she is often dead-on in her critiques of the others' work. Also this: when Ashley started tearing up and they cut to Candace looking disgusted, it was such a perfect reaction shot- too perfect - I'd bet money the snipped that shot from some other part of the judging and it had nothing to do with Ashley.
  15. I'm over Ashley as well. With that Peter Pan challenge, they were given the challenge the day before, so she had the whole night to think about what to make. With this challenge, she had an extra day, and a model in her comfort zone. Why is it that the things that should make it easier for her seem to make it more difficult? And what is going on with her hair? I get that the roots are growing in, but why are the tips going grey/white?
  16. This. This is Project Runway. This is a "real woman" challenge. Why would anyone go into this expecting anything other than some rushed, thrown together, crap design? This isn't Say Yes to the Freaking Dress where you're spending thousands on a custom garment to wear for one of the most special occasions in your life. It's for a silly tv show where the garments produced are tragic more often than not. My God. As long as you're fully clothed, just go with it, be gracious, and let the designer shine (or sink) on their own merit.
  17. That was un-freaking-believable. He is actually pimping therapy-by-phone. With straight face. Astounding. The show yesterday with the blonde lady who was ready to divorce her husband...what a nutcase. The guy seemed decent, but there must be something wrong with him that he's with her.
  18. I always wonder about designers who choose a distinctive print for a challenge where the winning garment will be mass manufactured. It seems like availability and pricing of the print would be a factor, but how would they know that at the time of judging?
  19. For the record, I don't think turning down appearances (which is what they said on the show) is the same thing as cancelling on opportunities (which is what was written upthread.) To me, turning something down means she was asked if she was available and said no. Cancelling would be if she agreed to go and then backed out. There's a huge difference there. I just want to nip that in the bud before "Angela bails out on appearances" turns into one of the many "truths" that are born on this board based on speculation. I don't think she would still be on the team if she was actually cancelling on her obligations. I can't imagine Kelli would stand for that.
  20. This came up over and over again last season. But is there really fraud here? He married her, he resides with her, and he participates as a member of the family. Isn't that pretty much all he has to do? As far as I know, the regulations do not require him to love her (or even like her), show her any affection, or consummate the relationship. Nor does the law prohibit him from going on trips, interacting with other women, or accepting money from anyone who wants to give it to him. Not that I am defending any of this. I just don't think there are grounds for ejecting him.
  21. I like the time limit too, but I think it should be a reasonable time limit, instead of setting all of them up to fail. We knew going into the challenge that none of them would make it to all four go-sees and back to the office on time. Speaking of the office, when the models were headed out the door, did anyone else catch the Next guy telling Bello to drop the drama? Too bad he didn't say it in front of everyone, right after Bello's little speech.
  22. Alli was the one who lost points we me on that.I'm one of those people who thinks it incredibly rude to take phone calls from your girlfriends while you're in the middle of a date.
  23. This might actually be good tv. I'll never know, because I have a visceral reaction to the very idea of it. I can't make myself watch. I will admit I have an anti-Michael Jackson bias. I thought he was weird, and I was never impressed with his music or his moves. But I think my negative reaction to the commercials for this show is less about how I feel about Michael's career and personal life, and more that it just smacks of riding those coattails one last time. Maybe if I watched the show I'd find out I'm wrong, so somebody tell me if I am. Mainly I'm just posting here because I'm curious to know if people who were into the Jackson 5 are interested in the Jackson 5's middle aged children and grandkids. Were there people clamoring for this to be a show? And is there more to come from the families of all those other Motown stars that were so big way back when?
  24. The UK had a series called "the Big Reunion" where they brought together musical acts that were big in the 90s for one big performance (at Wembley Arena, I think.) I watched the first season on youtube because it had a couple of acts I'd heard of. (B*witched anyone?) It was actually really interesting see all these performers who were now in their late 30s and early 40s come together again to recapture some of their old mojo for a single night. Some had had horrible break ups, some had been estranged for years. Some had gone to drugs, some to a spouse and children. Anyway, this jackson group was on the second season of the show. I guess they were big in europe. (Well, bigger than they were here in the states, anyway. The season 2 acts seem to be the JV team.) For some reason, the ads for this new reality show makes me not want to watch it at all. But it does make me want to go watch 3T on the big reunion. I can't say why. I guess to see if they were really a "thing."
