  1. Maybe you can figure it out by looking at the videos from the calendar shoot on the Cowboys website and see who is wearing that swimsuit..(shrugs)
  2. I gave that article the side eye. I feel like they're trying so spin it like she's some high-powered, driven, business woman, but she comes across as not knowing much about what she's doing. Granted, this is a pretty superficial article, but it boils down to having two guys doing the heavy lifting for her in an industry that is rife with all sorts of scams and unproven health claims. There's no indication that she's done any homework to prepare herself for this, that she's the one actually leading this business, or that she's pursuing further education in either business or nutrition so she knows what the hell she's talking about. She seems very naive when it comes to business. If she was a little more savvy, she wouldn't be touting her contribution as "presenting herself well and being organized," instead, she'd be talking about how she runs the joint, what she personally is doing to build the business, and how she's a real go-getter.
  3. When they showed Amy, Megan and a couple of others dancing around/preening in their partial uniforms before the fitting, it struck me that the shorts looked just fine at length, before all of the rolling. The ultra low-rise trend has been over for years. It's time they tweaked the fit of those shorts. They are so much wider than they are long, they make everyone's backside look bigger than it is. (Exhibit A) It was funny that Stephanie was saying she knows what works and what doesn't work. Then after she finished dancing, Kelli immediately starting pointing out the parts of it that didn't work. If Kelli isn't bothered by the large scar on Jenna's belly, I guess a few moles wouldn't matter to her either. According to her public LinkedIn profile, the jobs she was working before this were low-skill receptionist positions. That, and working at Bebe. It doesn't seem like she would have much savings from that. Plus girls her age tend to spend most of what they make. So unless she'd saved off a hell of a lot of birthday/Christmas/graduation money, I have a hard time believing she's living off savings. Given all of this, the question in my mind is how did Colby make finals at all? None of them seemed to like the look of her to begin with. Or was she one of those women selected just for her storyline? Never mind. I think I just answered my own question. No. Different Katy. The rehearsal schedule must seem so excessive for the vets. Do they really need to be there 5, sometimes 6, days a week while the rookies are learning kickline, thunderstruck and other dances some of the vets have been doing for years?
  4. Did I imagine that, or was Edmond wearing a head lamp in the work room? Is his other job coal mining?
  5. It does make sense that they're showing these out of order. The auto shop episode was pretty weak. I don't know if I would've watched more than one episode if that had been the first one.
  6. I haven't actually counted, but it seems like there used to be so many blondes a few years back, like when Cassie was on the squad. Am I remembering wrong? There are so few blondes on this year's team. Not even a third of the squad. No wonder Kelli has been making Danielle and Kelsey lighter and lighter. Out of the rookies, maybe Holly or Stephanie could've been blondes? I feel like that would look less "off" than the red. But maybe the problem is the shade of red those two went to. ETA: The new headshot on Holly's twitter is much nicer than the one she had before where her neck was at that weird angle.
  7. That looks like Danielle front and center. Good for her!
  8. Other things I think would be interesting to see: - The exit interviews at the end of the prior season. (Which girls are retiring and why, what people are told they need to work on if they want to return for another season, etc.) - The day they have to turn in their uniforms and what they have to turn in (ie: do they get to keep anything? Boots, poms, etc) - As others have mentioned, how group leaders are chosen, but also how the group members are chosen. - How they choose the point girl - giving out the barbies at auditions - who goes first and last at auditions - the DCC staff besides K&J
  9. Before this show came along, just about everyone who made training camp made the team. Now, bringing in more girls than they need leaves room for one or two girls the producers want. Girls like Taylor won't make the team, but some decision maker somewhere thinks they are good for the show. I think whatshername with the low kicks who made the team a few years back was an aberration, and the experience solidified Kelli's determination not to put anymore low kickers on the team. Taylor knows her kicks are low, but I guess she's telling herself that even though she has been working on them and they still aren't high enough, maybe she will experience a Training Camp Miracle that will fix it for her.
  10. Especially one with a track record like ANTM. They've managed to produce a few models who actually work, but they're the rare exception. Or so it seems to me. I zoned out for about 8 or 10 cycles so what do I know? Maybe ANTM alumni are taking over fashion world. Yeah right.
  11. Question: Does Judy, the team's official choreographer, ever stand up and teach anything herself? Ever? I would love to know how much of the choreography she actually does, vs how much of the heavy lifting is done by assistants and guest choreographers. Another question: did Holly say her family had moved to Dallas to be with her? They all relocated for the DCC? I think they checked with each other, and that was the problem. And now she's not a shy girl. She has been through the training camp and DCC experience, has overcome her shyness and self-defeating thoughts, and became an excellent performer on the national stage. I do believe she is uniquely qualified to mentor these girls. As if Kelli isn't aware that those girls think every single time they're called into the office they might get cut. Even on day one. Kelli is so far out of touch with her days as a DCC. And even though her DCC director was a hardass, I don't think Kelli ever had to go through this training camp experience. It's like she can't relate at all, and doesn't even try. Well, that would depend on how long the dances are. If they're as short as the finals routine, it seems like it would be do-able. After all, they had to learn that one in like a hour. I don't see anything wrong with it. If the reason they are struggling is because they are caught up in their thoughts, and she can help with that, it's all to the good. Maybe it can help them do better in the rest of the rehearsal. Besides, it doesn't look like she pulls them out for very long. So low that I think maybe they do one or two passes across the floor with mid-height kicks to warm up. I think I may have seen that in one season or another. And you're a teenager, on your own for the first time, and used to being the very best dancer in practically every situation. That is, until you get to training camp. All of a sudden you're not the star. You're the one struggling, and it sucks.
  12. Which is probably reason enough for Tyra to mess it up, right? Well, at least we can be sure he won't get the fake beard. Hopefully it will be something innocuous, like making him go clean shaven. Co-sign. I had a gap just as big and buck teeth, though not quite as prominent, and I had braces for 3.5 years. Ohhhhh. Ok. I was thinking a 10% man was like a 5 minute man or something similar that is not good. Thanks for clearing that up, LOL.
  13. I hope she does something worse. Like a red buzz cut on one side and purple dreads on the other. Or bald stripes. I want her to make him cry. What does that mean? Is that modeling industry lingo? Seems to me that anyone who is signed to six (or is it seven?) agencies and still can't get any traction in his career is probably just desperate at this point. He doesn't seem to understand that being signed to so many agencies is nothing to brag about...unless those agencies have you working regularly. Which clearly isn't' the case for him. I think that just proves that your standards have been lowered practically to the floor, as a result of watching so many seasons of this show.LOL Really poor photography. He and Tyra should both be embarrassed. I was so glad when she told him to get lost and stuck to her guns. I was so afraid her insecurities would drive her to overlook all the trash he'd just been talking about her and accept his "but I'm really your friend" BS. I don't think he actually apologized, did he? If you keep in mind that this show is 100% about entertainment/shock/grabbing attention, and 0% about having any success as a model, all of Tyra's decisions make sense. The striking contrast between his eye and skin colors will allow him to coast for a good long while in this competition, without having to do any actual work. It will be interesting to see if he can or will put some effort into it once all the weak ones are weeded out and it gets more competitive. I was really glad she stood up to him. And she gave great face during the photoshoot.
  14. This bothered me so much, even though he was instrumental in solving most of the clues. He must do this in his daily life. People who make a competition out out every little thing and crow about their little wins (even when nobody else even knew it was a contest to begin with) are so annoying. ("I got to the door first, I get credit!" "Mom liked my gift best, I get credit!" "I found a closer parking spot than you did. I get credit!") He was dead certain he was right. Not a hint of doubt in his mind. It kind of fascinating in a way, his refusal to consider anything that wasn't his idea. It was fun...until it wasn't fun. Once they were SO far behind, there was really no contest, and at that point the show got a little boring. He's a comedian? I had no idea. Certainly wouldn't have figured that out from this show. He also gets to dramatically throw the switch to start the game. Don't forget about that! I would like to have a switch like that to turn the lights on in my house.
  15. We didn't get much story in the two minutes they were focusing on her. Just enough to give the heartstrings a twang. It's entirely possible her father got another job, maybe even a better paying one. And it's equally possible that the dance studio scene wasn't shot in her home.
  16. I've seen a few comments on these boards about girls who wore the same outfit for more than one audition. Is wearing the same outfit bad? I mean, is there some unspoken rule about not doing that because the judges look down on it or something? Is it superstition? I've seen how expensive those outfits can be, and a lot of those girls are students. I can't help but think that if I were in their shoes, I'd wear the same outfit over and over until it I wore it out. I'm very frugal though, LOL.
  17. So...what was the reason for Shannade showing up later than everyone else? Did they explain that? I am sure the twins parents are perfectly nice, educated people, but every time I see "Shannade" written out, I can't help but think their parents were too ignorant to know it's spelled "Sinéad" so they had to spell it phonetically.
  18. If there's anyone who can't get enough of Vivian Williams, she's all over this company's page. Taylor Snyder is on there too.
  19. I'm pretty sure he used pattern paper for the skirt. I guess it's ok for some people not to use the cards for a large portion of the garment, so long as they use some other unconventional material. Did anyone else notice the hole above the waistband in the front of Swapnil's garment when they zoomed in for the extreme closeup?
  20. I have long thought that the solos have two purposes. First to give the judges a chance to focus on (and scrutinize) each individual girl for a good long minute, without having to watch the same routine over and over 60 times. And second, to see if there's anything (special talents, theme ideas, etc) they can use for show group. And on the other hand, if a vet was once good enough, and couldn't motivate herself to stay at that level, how can you bring her into training camp and set the example that it's ok for the vets to be mediocre and coast onto the squad? No ma'am. Not while there is breath in Kelli Finglass' body. And actually, it was a pretty ugly costume. I agree. It's just about generating interest in the squad. Having one person she doesn't particularly care for in training camp is no skin off Kelli's nose. She'll just cut her two weeks later and keep it moving.
  21. She walked away from the interview instead of bursting into tears and having her ugly cry memorialized and played again and again and again. It was a smart move, in my opinion. Was she really first? Or just edited to look that way? I couldn't agree more. It is possible to be blunt and tough without crossing over into degrading and disparaging. She really enjoys insulting those girls. Telling Colby to eat a sandwich was in no way a constructive comment intended to improve her performance and her chance to make the team. It was just mean.
  22. I call BS. The highest finalist number was in the 320s, wasn't it? If there were 500 dancers, it seems odd that there wouldn't be even ONE finalist in the last 175 or so girls. Which makes me think the real number was well under 400. And every time they talk about how many other places the girls come from, I wonder how many flew in from elsewhere specifically for the auditions vs those who were born elsewhere, but actually live in Dallas now because their family moved when they were little or they moved for college or something. Did Kelli say anything this year about people coming from other countries? It seems like there's always someone from Japan.
  23. It seems like they've had fewer and fewer blondes these last several years. I wonder if Kelli made so many of the rookies redheads because she didn't want the team to be overpowered with brunettes, and needed some lighter hair, but there weren't any rookies with the coloring to go all the way blonde. I really wish they'd left Holly alone. Rachel is not the most photogenic on the team. One eye seems to open less than the other. I'm not sure what her facial expression is meant to be. She's not smiling. She's not doing sultry. It's not unpleasant. It's just kind of blah, same as last year. I'm sure she's very pretty in real life, but it doesn't come across as "DCC Pretty" in photos. At least not in my opinion.
  24. The comment about Mia doing the choreography this year makes me wonder how much of the DCC choreography Judy actually does herself anymore? Does she even demonstrate any of it herself when she's teaching anymore? In the last episode we heard her talk the girls through the kickline, but it has me thinking. Have we ever seen her actually dancing on the show? Or does she always do it from a chair, Abby Lee Miller style? Granted, she's 50-something now, but it seems she is more like the assistant director than the choreographer. And does Charlotte actually have anything to do with the DCC after training camp is announced? ETA I don't think we've seen anyone NOT choose dance except for Jordan Daigle. If I recall correctly, she showed up at Kitty's finals prep session and when it was time for everyone to show their talent presentation, Kitty acted like Jordan was a loser for singing. For some reason I remember the little pink dress Jordan was wearing. Kitty reacted as if she was offended. Her attitude was almost like "how dare you NOT dance??? If you don't dance, you are a LOSER and you'll never make the team."
  25. I imagine MOST of the people who audition for this show are weak. Approximately 400 people auditioned. I bet for every one that's decent, there are four or five mediocre ones (can't dance, out of shape, not very cute, etc.) I have no trouble believing they'd have many groups that are nothing but duds, one right after another. The veterans know the schedule months in advance. Amy doesn't. We know from prior seasons this this team often has rehearsals, mandatory activities, and appearances on weekdays and weekends too. Scheduing your wedding (and honeymoon!) and hoping that there's no conflict or that you can get the time off would be a gamble. I can't see Kelli going out of her way to accommodate any one dancer's personal schedule. Especially a rookie. Not even for a wedding. That's not how she rolls. DCC first. Everything else second. Many of the girls choreograph and rehearse their "freestyle" dance well in advance. It's entirely possible Christina did the same dance in different years.
