  1. She'll also have to have some common sense, class, and maturity. That may be too much to ask. A bunch of them seemed a bit clueless. I don't know if they were starstruck, or just immature. It was pretty surprising when the walked into the showroom and started trying everything on. Especially turban girl. Did they think they could take the scarves off when they were finished playing and leave them lying there, all wrinkled up? Use your brains, girls. I wonder where they got these women from. I'm already tired of the I'm the youngest, I'm from the hood, I have tattoos girl. I don't know anything about being a brand ambassador, but I imagine you have to look like the DVF woman and she doesn't look or act the part.
  2. When Brett was showing Daya around, didn't he indicate that one of the room's was Lou's room? Not Lou & T's room? I thought for sure Lou and T were a couple, until he said that.
  3. I'm still really bummed that Chris came back. As much as I like him, I can't shake the feeling that he should be above this by now. Once you graduate high school, you can't go back again and hang out with same kids.
  4. When Brett was putting on his backpack and trotting out the door, did he say he was off to work and school, or did I mishear that? I wonder what kind of school he's in. And whether that means he'll be around even less than I thought.
  5. Or the custody agreement requires them to do the exchange in a neutral location.
  6. I don't blame TLC, just like I didn't blame Jerry Springer. People volunteer themselves for those shows, knowing full well the producers are looking to make a dramatic story out of their situation, and there will be plenty of unpleasant consequences for everyone involved. Even if TLC was the most upstanding network ever and all they did was straight documentaries, this would still have been a bad situation for Cassidy. The tv show - even though I'm guessing they only spent a few days filming her - is unnecessary stress on top of the strain of leaving her comfort zone, and living with a father she's not used to being around, and a total stranger who is uncomfortable around kids and hasn't the slightest idea how to be a caretaker. They bring Cassidy into the home (after doing the hand off in a public park, which seemed odd to me), and tell her Daya is going to be her new stepmom. (And Cassidy is not too young to pick up on the unspoken "You'd better get along with her" that comes in parentheses after that.) On top of that, she has to be with Daya 24/7 for the next month, most of that time alone with her. On top of that, they will be sharing a bedroom, so there will be no escape, no privacy. And on top of that, there are two other women there she probably doesn't know very well. And no other kids. But hey, there's a dog she can play with! Poor kid. I feel for her. Brett doesn't seem like a fame whore, so my guess is he's doing the show for financial reasons. My guess is that's how he justified putting his daughter through this. Assuming it occurred to him at all that this might be difficult for her. It's not hard to figure out why Daya got into this. I don't know why Chanel agreed to it. She's probably legally required to hand Cassidy over for visitation, but it seems like the custodial parent should have to give permission for this tv thing. But we didn't see much of her. Could be she's not exactly mom of the year. Maybe she's taking this month off to party in Ibiza with her latest boy toy.
  7. Her sketch is on the website. Her pomegranate trim was meant to edge the hem and sleeves. The sleeves got axed along with the trim. As you said the trim was very heavy looking. It would've taken all the flutter out of that dress.
  8. I didn't see that as balls. I saw that as cowardice. Instead of being a man, and facing his family, he avoided them until he was no longer able to do so. Then, when he did have to deal with the consequences of that cowardly behavior, instead of manning up and telling his family to cut it out with the 3rd degree, and calling his sister in law out on her rudeness, he took his toy and ran home. I don't think the SIL is into Justin. I think she's just one of those women who is a total bitch because everyone allows it. And because nobody has ever put her in check, she feels free to butt in wherever she likes and say whatever she likes about everyone else's business.
  9. I don't know about anyone else, but I haven't changed my opinion of any of these people. All of the Americans on last night's show were clueless in one way or another, and more focused on getting what they want then on their fiance's needs. Couldn't see a red flag if it smacked them across the face. Danielle: Delusional and clingy Mohamed: Obviously conning Danielle, but does a creditable acting job in the role of decent guy. Shifty eyes and all. Danny: Nice guy. Thoughtless and inconsiderate. Makes plans based on what is convenient for him and not based on his fiance's comfort and concerns Amy: Nice girl. Clueless about how clueless Danny is. Clearly deserves better. Justin: Self centered. Immature. Wants to make all the decisions in the relationship. Pretends to listen to Evalin's concerns and then disregards them and does what he wants, assuming she'll just get over it. Evalin: Genuinely good hearted person. Too good for Justin. Brett: Doormat. Extremely lacking in common sense. Using his American citizenship to get a mate who is otherwise completely out of his league. Daya: Taking Brett for whatever she can get from him. May have met her Waterloo with Cassidy, who clearly doesn't like her, and has the power to torpedo the entire relationship. (Although I think it would take an all out war between Daya and Cassidy for Brett to dump Daya. Anything less and Brett will just tell himself Cassidy just hasn't warmed up to Daya yet.)
  10. Count me among those who has no memory of Jay whatsoever. I liked Benjamin's dress best out of everything and do not get what's so great about Fabio's jumpsuit. And no, a jumpsuit is not the most comfortable thing for a woman to wear. Perhaps he was confusing "jumpsuit" with "footie pajamas." I think Samantha's dress should've been in the bottom, instead of Michelle's. Although it was disturbing how that cutout on Michelle's dress opened and closed like a mouth as her model was walking the runway.
  11. Is TLC punking us? Because this level of ignorance and lack of consideration for a "loved one" cannot be for real. Aside from "Speak African!" and walking into the bedroom room unannounced, I cringed the most when Nic said "wow, you're really tan!" That's not a tan, you moron. She's biracial. Still can't get over the fact that Danny clearly had not spent five minutes thinking about how to ease Amy into the situation and make her comfortable. Nice kid, but he is so naively thoughtless, it's maddening. And Brett, good grief. Let's start with the fact that his daugter clearly wanted nothing to do with him. Or Daya. That much was obvious. Equally obvious is that he must not spend much time parenting. Telling Cassidy he is marrying a stranger and he's sure she and Daya will be best friends is the kind of idiocy you'd expect from an adult who doesn't know much about children. Even a six year old knows that's bull. Poor Cassidy. It's a testament to Chanel that though Cassidy clearly did not want any part of this, she behaved quite well. I would not have blamed her for a full on kicking and screaming tantrum. I suspect (and hope) that Chanel did not know that Daya, a total stranger who knows nothing about kids, would be the primary caretaker for the month. Meanwhile, the roommates are ok with two extra people living there for a month? I would not be ok with that. And was grandma staying there too? And it never occurred to Brett that the sleeping arrangements would make both Daya and Cassidy uncomfortable? And what the hell was Daya chewing on? I can't wrap my head around any of it. There is one thing I do have a better understanding of now that I've seen Chanel, and she is quite attractive. I understand why Brett is unwilling to settle for someone less attractive. Although I can't imagine how he and Chanel ever got together in the first place. Not unless there were extenuating circumstances, like they met in rehab or something. Speaking of guys engaged to bitchy women. Jason. Another man who knows his fiance is a horror, but figures she'll undergo a massive personality change once they're under the same roof. Seriously, if a woman can't even bother to pretend to be sweet long enough to get the ring on her finger, then you know she reeeallllly doesn't care about you even a little. Why is a 38 year old man putting up with this? Is the sex that great? Jason should maybe ask his friend why he broke up with Cassia. I get the feeling that she's done this many times before. Hopefully Jason won't be the one schmuck who goes through with it. That is, assuming she doesn't ditch him when she finds out how tight he is with his money. Meanwhile, Jason's dad isn't going to be able to bite his tongue for three whole months. I wonder if Cassia knows she's going to be living with dear old dad. It's got to be hard to watch your son screw up his life. And why the hell was Jason taking a 5 hour bus ride to Miami? Could the Miami layover possibly be that bad? Danielle was her usually clingy self this episode. She does not give Mohammed any personal space to speak of. Her neediness repulses me on a visceral level. His body language is so telling, although how he manages not to cringe away from her is a mystery. And as for Justin, he knows his family is horribly judgmental and they'd be angry and hurt that he didn't tell them about Evelin. He could've spared her some of that by speaking with everyone ahead of time. But he's been far more wrapped up with his own feelings and wishes than with hers. Evelin should be so pissed off that he completely brushed off her concerns and put her in that situation.
  12. Well, except for Patricia: "She's a socialite so when she attends different parties, her A-line dress is interchangeable to marry with some of the other collections. And then if she turns around, just like this little bit of flutter of how she's moving so fast." I listened to this three times and can't decide whether to blame this on poor editing vs. verbal diarrhea.
  13. I believe that if Honey Boo-Boo's mom has been able to find multiple men to father her many children, there is someone for everyone. I also believe that people generally wind up with partners who are on their same page as far as overall attractiveness goes. (And by attractiveness, I mean the total package in terms of looks, education, mental and physical health, future prospects, professional success, income, and so forth.) My guess is that the women who would be willing to date him aren't the ones he wants. And the ones he wants, aren't interested in him. He's an average looking guy, over 30, can't afford to live on his own, and has no game. He could probably get someone like Danielle. But he wants someone who looks like Daya.
  14. I think Brett is one of those guys who will wake up 10 years from now (or whenever Daya leaves him, whichever comes first), realize he's miserable, and say "I don't understand what went wrong." Maybe he will have matured by then and have some insight to the fact that he made a poor choice in Daya. It's sad that he's so desperate to have someone, he will settle for a woman who doesn't respect, admire, and adore him.
  15. Anyone believe that? Anyone? Not me.
  16. I'm not saying they destroyed his career, but he makes money from them and I'm sure some of the shine on his reputation comes from managing this group.Yamir's actions have threatened that. While Yamir didn't come across as some insane talent that is irreplaceable, it's not as easy as calling the boy band hotline and ordering up a replacement member. Yamir's departure has created major difficulties for Gabri and the rest of the group. On top of that, the group is Gabri's creation, so I'm sure he's taking it personally that Yamir is leaving at this critical time, for some half-assed plan to go off to America, get married, and do...nothing productive. That's why Gabri is angry, and resentful, and that's why he did what he did.
  17. Vocal fry or no, it was what she was saying that annoyed me. The two of them and their refusal to acknowledge that - while they have a perfect right to follow their bliss and do what they want - they have seriously f-ed up some other people's situation. So no, not everyone is all about being happy for Chelsea and Yamir. Yes, Gabri was pissed and behaved like an ass. That's what people do when you screw with their livelihood. Suck it up and move on. Watching her go all victim-y and "poor us" just made me dislike her.
  18. There's a bonus video on the TLC site where Evelin explains how important it is that Justin tell his mother first. (And tell her NOW). He agrees, then goes off to meet his mother, who asks him point blank if he's seeing anyone. He brushes the question off and she says something about how he'll meet someone when he doesn't expect it. He vaguely says he might have someone in mind, but mother - strangely - has no reaction to that statement. Later Justin says he just didn't feel it was the right time to tell his mom. His argument is that he only wants to explain his relationship once. So despite the face that Evelin has explained numerous times that she doesn't want to be sprung on his family like a surprise, he really doesn't care. He's going to reveal her to the crowd like he's pulling a rabbit out of his hat, because to do it otherwise would be irritating to him. What a prince. (But what do you expect of a guy who clips his toenails on the coffee table/footstool then sets a plate of food there and starts eating?) Ok that made me laugh out loud I'm not. She was nicer to Brett than what we first saw, but the fact that she brought up her dissatisfaction with the ring not once, not twice, but three times before the end of the first day tells me everything I need to know about her.
  19. I wonder if Myla Vox is a Menudo situation. When I did an image search on them, they had four members. And on this week's episode, Gabri said Freddy was new. Maybe they just shuffle guys in and out of the rotation. Or maybe it's a Destiny's Child thing where a couple of guys got the boot. In either case, it makes me think this isn't the most stable group and their level of fame is more O-town than Nsync. Maybe it's a hot mess and Yamir is getting out because he sees the end coming, even if only for himself because at 28, he is getting old for the boy band fan demographic. Gabri's big announcement was spiteful for sure. I don't agree with the way he did it, but I understand why he did it. Yamir planned to blithely skip off to the USA, leaving his manager and rest of his group to make the announcement and pick up the pieces. Gabri's actions said "Hell no. You're the one who made this stupid decision, you stand there and defend it and face your shocked/disappointed/angry fans. I'm not taking this hit for you." Granted, that's the manager's job, to deal with that kind of thing, but I think Gabri really wanted Yamir to have to face some of the negative consequences of his decision to leave. It was a passive aggressive, bitch move, but I understand the motivation. I couldn't really feel any sympathy for Yamir. Probably because Chelsea's crying got on my last nerve. I'm not sure why she bothers me, but I just can't warm up to her. It was so weird, that scene about Mohamed sleeping on the couch. I mean, I get it that Danielle wants sex. Or actually, I don't even know if it was sex, I think she just wanted him in bed with her. It's like she has to be in physical contact with him every minute. But for heaven's sake, she's got three kids in the house. She's so busy thinking about what she wants, it does not occur to her at all to consider how inappropriate this whole thing is. What happens when your teenaged daughter brings a 25 year old man home as her "fiance" and they want to get it on in the next bedroom over?
  20. This show is not good. I turned it off at about the ten minute mark. In retrospect, I guess I was expecting some sort of gifted fashion savants who would conjure up well-made, fashion-forward garments with a wow factor. But of course they can't. Because they are children. And because the project runway franchise is all about paying lip service to innovative fashion, while doing everything possible to make sure it doesn't actually happen. I forgot that for a minute. Poorly made, uninspired outfits on Project Runway: Original Recipe annoy me. They don't annoy me any less when they are made by children. The host was dreadful. Christian was bland in a way I didn't know he was capable of, and I refuse to acknowledge Kelly Osbourne as any kind of fashion expert. This show was a bore, and it was a real mistake to air it following an equally boring PR finale. I'm out.
  21. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Mohamed wants to be pals with Danielle, I'm saying that's how he's playing it. Big difference there. His m.o. is "nice and friendly" whereas Daya is ice cold and remote. I guess I'm reading Mohammed as less evil because I get the "lazy/amateur scam artist" vibe from him. Perhaps that's colored by my opinion that he didn't have to work that hard to get Danielle. But as you said, we haven't seen much of him.
  22. Mohamed and Daya are in this for practical reasons. They're both in it for the sole purpose of coming to America and neither is making the slightest attempt to pretend it's a great love affair. Both are saddled with American partners who are extremely needy and are practicing willful self-deception in order to get their needs met. Brett is a weak man, seeking to build up his confidence and ego by hooking up with a woman who is submissive and grateful to him for the gift of American citizenship. Unfortunately, he's settled on a person who is exactly the opposite of what he wanted. Daya comes across as the kind of person who can smell weakness a mile (or in this case an ocean) away. All she had to do was flatter him a bit. Play up to him long enough to boost his ego and get him invested in the relationship. She knows that romantic relationships have been difficult for him, so now that he's finally "got" a woman, he's going to be very reluctant to break it off. And now all Daya has to do is coast. The true colors have come out. She clearly has a distaste for Brett and is approaching this with an "I'll grit my teeth and get through this" kind of attitude. Brett, on the other hand, has to pretend like it's love (not desperation) in order to be ok with the situation. That whole "she's temperamental but she's going to have to change that if we're going to be together" comment just shows how clueless he his. His words say he's got power in this situtation. His actions - proposing to a woman he knows is a complete bitch and expecting her personality to miraculously change once she sets foot on American soil - say otherwise. She's smarter than he is, more manipulative than he is, and her actions - the fact the she didn't even bother to dial down the bitch long enough to say hello - tell me she is in complete control and knows it. Mohamed on the other hand, doesn't come off as nearly so manipulative. Correction - he's plenty manipulative, but not quite so evil. His attitude comes across to me like "I want to go to America, I'm a good guy, she seems to like me, and she seems nice enough. Why not use what I have to get what I want?" Unlike Daya, Mohamed's approach is all friendly-like. He and Danielle will be buds long enough to get married, get him some money, and get his green card. How hard could that be? I expect the reality of Danielle is very different than what he expected. The weeping and clinging, the emotional roller coaster, the reality of her life was probably like a slap across the face. This is going to be WORK. This woman doesn't get that this was for expediency, financial support, and maybe a little companionship. She wants a real husband. He can (and probably will) put off sex for a good long while. (I doubt she'll protest much. She's probably not that interested in sex.) But for Mohamed, sexual demands would probably be easier to handle than the emotional demands this woman will make. She's going to be all over him, sharing every thought, every emotion that goes through her head, needing constant support, wanting to know what he's thinking, wanting to cling and cuddle, wanting his advice on what to do about the kids, the house, her life, their future together. She's going to suffocate him. I think he's going to realize there's no money there, decide it's not worth the drama and go home, determined to be a bit more discerning the next time around.
  23. I wonder how much of Danielle's hysteria had to do with the thought of being stood up on national television.
  24. I still cannot fathom how anyone with children could think it's a great idea to bring a total stranger into the home as a new parent/authority figure. Especially someone from a completely unfamiliar culture who doesn't speak English. It just seems so, so...dumb. And selfish. And disruptive to the children. Especially if you've already put the kids through a divorce. I mean, if you're single and want to go off and hook up with someone you barely know from an exotic land, go for it. But when you have kids, it seems like their interests should come first.
  25. I'm surprised no one else has noted the similarity between the white mullet vest in Char's studio and the white jacket Korina made for the wedding challenge. That cumbersome, clunky, double lapel was awful. In both instances.
