  1. Ollie and Molly? Must me take yet another trip to Petticoat Junction?
  2. For me too - and I am not even an Arsenal fan.
  3. An Appreciation: What I Learned Re-Watching A Different World
  4. I was back and forth on whether I preferred Michael to Ryan. But then, I think I'm sold on Ryan now-lol.
  5. And just like that, Arsenal finds itself 2nd in the Barclays Premier League table, while Manchester City, with their loss to Crystal Palace, are down in 4th. I'm still assuming Chelsea will win it.
  6. "Die just DIE!" always wins with me! The wedding episodes have some of my favorite scenes of the entire series, including Whitley & Kim's scene the night before the wedding. But my favorite is the scene where Dwayne comes to see Whitley on the eve of the wedding. Everything in that scene is working so well, I do not feel like I'm watching actors. I feel like I'm eavesdropping on a real couple's conversation. Just magic from both Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison. Her timing and execution were just genius. On the TVOne Unsung Hollywood for ADW, Kadeem said that "Baby Please!" came out because he'd forgotten his line! Funny to think that one of the show's most famous lines was basically an oops.
  7. So, my sister and I text each other Golden Girls quotes on pretty much a daily basis. Our latest exchange was this: Dorothy: Blanche, have you ever met a man you didn't think was giving you the eye? Blanche: Just once - in 1976. But it was only a few days later that Mr. President Jimmy Carter admitted to the nation that he had secretly lusted in his heart.
  8. That was about when I started following the sport. The only difference is my WTF reaction to Ray Hudson has never changed-lol I've missed the Champions League, so it'll be nice to have it back in another week. Though I am already resigning myself to seeing Barcelona win the CL, I'm just grateful I don't have to watch Chelsea win it.
  9. I've always felt that the show would be better off if they just admitted that the main characters are not the good guys - unless the writers' goal is eliciting unintentional laughter in the audience. In which case - carry on.
  10. Same here. The popcorn thing just made me want to punch him.
  11. This was my favorite episode of the season. I swear, I had a big stupid grin on my face when Anika walked in on Lucious and Cookie. I may have even cheered. And this ep features my favorite scene of the series: the family gathering where Lucious tells everyone about his ALS. It was so full of layers, as all of the Lyon family dynamics were at play: Hakeem being a hothead, Andre melting down and Jamal immediately trying to comfort his mom. Taraji P. Henson was devastating in this scene, as she let the shock of the revelation wash over Cookie's face. For all the shiny artifice of this show, it features some truly emotionally rich character interactions.
  12. This is one of my favorite episodes of S1. And the scene where Hakeem comes to give Jamal his support after the coming out was one of the best things about the ep.
  13. I love it! Thanks for sharing. I adore all the outfits highlighted in the piece. The trouble is, Cookie slayed so much throughout the season that this piece barely scratches the surface of her awesome looks!
  14. One thing I loved about the finale was how it totally shifted the positioning of the main characters and their alliances from where they were at the start of the season. Jamal and Lucious, who were at odds for most of the season, are seemingly united against Hakeem, Cookie and Andre, an alliance I would not have predicted early in the season. Very curious to see how it all plays out in s2. Also, being a Lyon cousin (Bunky) or uncle (Vernon) is apparently hazardous to one's health!
  15. Not a fan of international breaks, but there have been some good games - mostly among the Euro qualifiers. The Netherlands-Turkey game was good, with a monster goal from Wesley Sneijder. And Gareth Bale chased away his Real Madrid blues with a brace in Wales' 3-0 win against Israel. I'm ready for club football to return now.
  16. Oh God - overtime for Michigan State/Louisville. ETA: Every time I think one team has momentum, the other team makes a comeback. ETA II: Well, hats off to Michigan State on making the Final Four. I feel bad for (Uncle) Rick Pitino. I've always liked him. Now, watch Duke v. Gonzaga is going to be a snore.
  17. Michigan State vs. Louisville might give me a heart attack. Damn.
  18. I'm watching solely for Naturi Naughton. I've always liked her. This show is not as good as Empire, but I'm not really inclined to compare them, mostly because they're trying to do totally different things. Empire is straight-up crowd-pleasing soap opera. It knows what it is, and it's ok with that (as am I!) Power, OTOH, seeks desperately to be Very Important Television. Like so many cable shows, it thinks graphic nudity and violence + swearing = gravitas. *smh* Of course, that means that the laughs I get from this show are strictly unintentional, and so enjoyable in their own way. I am curious to see what happens
  19. AimingforYoko, I immediately thought of Duke/Kentucky '92 when I saw this result. I really don't like that the players from the losing team have to face the press. I know that's the rule, but I always find it a bit cruel.
  20. lajessica21, are you referring to the song Jamal sang after the family dinner at Lucious' house? I think that was "Up All Night" - originally written by Puma. It was about his unrequited crush on Cookie.
  21. Lennie's last episode, C.O.D. was on TNT this morning. His exit is really the only reason to watch, particularly for this gem of dialogue between him and Van Buren: Det. Lennie Briscoe: So what's it been for you and me... 11 years? Lt. Anita Van Buren: Something like that. Det. Lennie Briscoe: It's the longest I was ever with any woman. Lt. Anita Van Buren: Now that's pitiful.
  22. That was one of my favorite things about this episode. But I am totally biased because I am a big Zeljko Ivanek fangirl. I've loved him since his days on Homicide: Life on the Street.
  23. Did I hear Jennifer say "Let my people go" to her father? Ha! Seriously, though Jennifer was heartbreaking in this episode. I truly felt for all she's been through. Still not enough Cole/Cassie interaction for me. But I am glad we got some clarity on what sets the plague in motion. KA plays scary Ramse well.
  24. I tried to watch it, but I tuned out when it was 16-2 in favor of Kentucky.
