  1. I've been enjoying this season a lot. I find it realistic that in a town where most people don't make that much money doing manual labor for a living with harsh weather most of the year, you're going to have a lot of miserable people. I'm fine with the slower pace for the case and all the delving into the characters' lives and problems. And I'm glad that after a bit of a break, Jodie Foster is acting again (in both this and Nyad). I am a little worried about the fact that there are only two episodes left but I'm cautiously hopeful that it'll come to a satisfying conclusion (or at least one that isn't terrible).
  2. I'd choose Jonathan to leave. Not even a difficult choice. I am curious as to what went down between Bobby and Tan. Also, I do think it's kinda messed up that Bobby is saying that they'd all agreed not to renew their contracts and then he's the only one that didn't. This is why I've never vibed as much with this cast as with the original. With the original, they came off as if they'd all been friends forever and hung out outside of work. I was shocked when I found out that they'd all been cast independently because they had such an easy rapport with one another. With this new cast, they are very much co-workers. https://www.thecut.com/2024/01/bobby-berk-finally-explains-why-he-left-netflixs-queer-eye.html

    Season 8

KISS was on their farewell tour that wrapped in December, so I'm guessing there were scheduling conflicts.
  4. So my prediction (haven't finished the season yet) is that the couple we saw get killed at the beginning of the episode will be revealed to have been killed by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. The second shooter looked like Erskine to me, so I'm guessing that will be how the season ends. Also, I'm guessing that they're going to discover that the organization they're working for is evil, mainly because nothing they're doing seems on the up and up.
  5. Eh, I think Alyssa has a point. A lot of people just voted for Biden because they didn't want to vote for Trump, not because they thought Biden was so great, so I do think her "a potato could have beat Trump" analogy is correct. This time around, I don't think people will vote for Trump over Biden, but I think there will be a lot of votes for third party candidates and a lot of people who will just skip out on voting overall because they're fed up with both choices.
  6. Also, it's a relatively small town so it's possible that someone on the Coast Guard knows Navarro and her sister, so was able to make the ID.
  7. That reunion was wild! I was so frustrated that this site was closed for maintenance because I had so much that I needed to discuss after watching it. On the Sergio/Amanda thing, my theory is that Sergio knew a woman he'd slept with was pregnant but wasn't 100% on whether it was his baby or not. So either she'd contacted him and said that they'd have to get a paternity test after the baby was born (and just hadn't done so before the show started) or he knew via social media/mutual friends that she was pregnant and with the timing, realized that it could have been his. That's why he wouldn't straight up deny he was expecting a baby with someone else when questioned about it but because there was a chance it wasn't his, he felt he didn't have to confirm it either. In his mind, that doesn't count as lying. I'm also guessing that at some point he mentioned the baby thing to one or more guys in the pods (they do give them a lot of alcohol) and once they were out of the pods, that guy told one or more of the women from the pods (because the pod people always seem to have get togethers once they're out in the real world) and that's how the rumor got started. This is my guess anyway because I can't see how anyone would know about the baby unless Sergio told someone. Unless production knew the entire time and set the rumor in motion? I wouldn't rule that out. With Lukas and Amelia, I don't judge Lukas as harshly as a lot of other people. I think he was in a situation that he really didn't know how to handle and thought that maybe he could make it work when in reality, he should have just cut her loose once he realized there was no physical attraction. I think he was in denial about how important physical attraction is in a relationship and probably felt that it would make him a bad person if he broke up with her because of her looks. With Katya and Christopher, I feel that she was really bothered by his style but didn't tell him that. Maybe if she had, he wouldn't have felt so insecure and gone so overboard with the compliments. That being said, I did get weird vibes from Christopher during the reunion, so maybe there's just something off about him. The guy Katya did end up dating though? That was just weird. She said she usually prefers "sporty" guys and that guy was so far removed from that it was ridiculous. Not the type of guy I would have seen her going for at all but whatever works for her, I guess. Oskar and Meira both look like they've lost a lot of weight together. Hope things work out for them and Krissy/Rasmus. Would have liked some clarification on Rasmus wondering if Krissy was Asian. Was he hoping she was Asian, hoping she wasn't Asian or just wondering about it aloud in a neutral way?
  8. Ah, I see. When I read that the award was for "Black music creators", I took that to mean black musical artists, when it means artists in either jazz, hip hop, rap, r&b, etc. Gotcha.
  9. I do feel sorry for him. Yeah, he's a jerk and you could see this "twist" coming a million miles away but people are usually jerks for a reason and being lonely and unhappy is one of them. I also found it sad that he spent Christmas Eve alone instead of celebrating with his daughter-in-law and grandson. I'm wondering if Navarro's "second sight" (sixth sense? She can see dead people) plays into what happened between her and Danvers. Is the ghost of the dead victim going to possess that guy, making him kill himself? Or will the ghost speak through her, causing the guy to kill himself? Or do either Navarro or Danvers just shoot the guy right out? Also, I freakin' hate trigger warnings. I wish there was a way to opt out of them because I'm tired of having character deaths spoiled for me because they put a suicide warning. I'm also trying to figure out the deal with Prior and Danvers. She's very focused on him but it's not in a Mrs.Robinson way. Is it a replacement mother/son thing?
  10. I really, really need them to hire a research/fact check intern or something because the Grammy discussion was such a mess. First you have Sarah going on about how she felt that the Black Artist award the Grammys had in the 80s was ridiculous and look how far we've come in that Jay-Z won a Global Impact Award last night...only she seemed completely unaware that the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award is a black artist award, it just has a fancier title (and I'm assuming is kind of a lifetime achievement sort of thing) and no one corrected her one this. Then there's Whoopi declaring that Joni Mitchell had never won a Grammy when in fact Mitchell has 10 Grammys and last night marked the first time she performed at the Grammys (which they did at least correct but it's a mistake that shouldn't have been made in the first place). They have a morning meeting where they go over all the topics of the day and everyone's talking points so why oh why are these things not corrected then?
  11. Honestly, it always surprises me how quick the American participants are to jump into bed. I get that you've agreed to marry each other but in reality, they've known each other two weeks and there's no guarantee they're actually going to get married. The thing I found most interesting about this season is how not into each other physically most of the couples were. Usually, there's one couple where one person is just not feeling it physically from the go but this season, that was the case for three out of the five (and honestly, I don't understand how Amanda wasn't put off by Sergio in the looks department. I mean, the hair alone...). I am curious to watch the reunion on Sunday because I'm not sure Oskar and Meria will still be together. She just didn't seem that into him, even when they were getting married (which I found so strange since I thought Oskar was really great. He was friendly, good looking and was trying so hard to make things work with her). I'm glad Lucas didn't marry Emilia since he obviously wasn't attracted to her but I do wish Emilia had walked away first. And I just don't understand Sergio and Amanda as a couple.
  12. In regards to the sharing of firing on social media, I'm pretty sure in the specific case that kicked off the topic, the reason the woman recorded them firing her is that it was a bs reason and she was documenting it. That to me is different than someone getting fired for a valid reason and then sharing it on social media as if it's a badge of honor or something.
  13. Has anyone else started Love is Blind: Sweden? My husband and I are halfway through episode 2 and already Sergio is the worst!
  14. Maybe she was with her husband (or whoever) when he died in a drunk driving accident and the Beatles were playing on the radio? That would be a good explanation. I've never watched any of the other seasons of this show but I'm a big Jodie Foster fan (glad she's acting again) so I decided to check it out. Wasn't expecting all the supernatural stuff but I don't mind it. Does give the show a very different feel than a regular detective show though. So far, I like everything about this except for the CGI animals. They just take me completely out of it.
  15. I think a palms up shoulder shrug with head tilt would have also worked. Or she could have leaned really hard into it and smiled while flipping him the bird. That would have actually been hilarious.
  16. In regards to Jo Koy, I do think there were a few things working against him. First there was the only having ten days to prepare. Even an experienced host would find that difficult. Second, as funny as I find most of Jo Koy's comedy, I'm not sure he's the right type of comedian for a hosting gig. Most of his comedy (the best bits, at least) has to do with his family, not quips about celebrities. That being said, as much as I enjoy her music, Taylor Swift really needs to get a sense of humor about herself. Jo Koy saying that they'll be less footage of her from the Golden Globes than at an NFL game is not something to get upset about. Like, lighten up.
  17. It's been awhile since I watched this but I'm pretty sure Any was out running errands and left June in the car for a minute while she popped into a store. Danny had followed her and planned on setting the car on fire while she was inside. The switching between that scene and the therapy was just to show the audience what both main characters had been up to since the last episode.
  18. Pretty sure this is the last show of the year. Schools got out this week and people are starting to travel for the holidays, so most shows are wrapping it up this week.
  19. Did Billy Porter raid Whoopi's closet? Because that is totally a Whoopi-esque outfit he has on!
  20. Today is actually the day my husband proposed to me fifteen years ago. So yeah, I guess tis the season! LOL.
  21. I thought Ana's dog should have won. I loved her little dance and was impressed that she'd been trained to jump into her carrier. That said, I thought it was funny that everyone but Sunny basically had the same dog. LOL. I always forget that Sunny has such big dogs because she doesn't really give off "big dog" energy to me. Sarah I can see having big dogs (which is ironic as I believe her dogs were chihuahuas, weren't they?) but Sunny always strikes me as someone who would have small to medium dogs.
  22. Tidying up the house today so I have this on in the background since it's perfect background noise. The only thing I can say is that I do relate to Khloe saying it's taking her longer to bond with her second baby. With each of my kids (I have three), I found that it took me longer to bond with each one. With my first, it was immediate. With the second, it took a few months. I think that's because 1) With your first, that's all you know so you feel that your first baby is full of personality and when you have your second, you're used to having a kid who's way more developed and interactive, so you're not as "wowed" by everything your new baby is doing and 2) I feel that the post-birth hormones don't hit you as hard. With my first, I couldn't be away for her for very long or I'd freak out but I could be away from my second for much longer. I feel that this isn't something that people talk about as much (and may not be true for everybody, I can only go off my own experience) but I do like that they brought it up on the show.
  23. According to my very brief internet research (meaning I think this is all correct but I could be off on a few things), Diana and Dodi only dated for about a month or two. They started in July 1997 and died at the end of August. Seeing as how Diana had just ended her two year relationship with Dr. Khan (and according to everything I've read, it looks like Diana was actually the one to break things off, I think because he just wasn't feeling a life with a lack of privacy, though she was probably pretty broken up about it since she's quoted as referring to him as the "love of her life"), I would assume that the Fayed relationship was probably a rebound/summer fling type of thing. I think because so much media attention was given to Fayed at the time of their deaths, it made their relationship seem way more serious than it was. I was fifteen at the time and remember thinking that he had been her long term boyfriend.
  24. So on all the Thanksgiving topics discussed today. I'll admit, if I had to do it again, I would have skipped some family Thanksgivings between the ages of 23-27. I was recently out of college and things weren't going stellar both career and relationship wise and just as Alyssa said, all my uncles and aunts had to ask me about it (some of them even making fun comments along the way!). It didn't help that I was the oldest of all the grandkids, so the rest of my cousins were still in college, so there was no one else to ask but me. I had run the idea of skipping to my mom and she guilted me into going about three years in a row. So yeah, I think if you need to skip a year every now and then, that's understandable. As for politics at Thanksgiving, why? And no, Joy, people do not need to be "educated" about why their political views are wrong. That strategy isn't going to change anyone's mind. If you want to have a polite, calm conversation where people with differing view points talk about why they hold the positions they do, then great, but usually, it just devolves into, "I'm right, you're wrong, so there!" Personally, I don't need that kind of stress added to my holidays. On a side note, I liked Whoopi's hair today. She looked perky!
  25. So I'm going to need to see pictures of Sarah's ex-boyfriends because she said when it came to men, she preferred dark to light but while her husband has dark hair and a somewhat olive complexion, in no world would I describe him as "dark". So was she only referring to hair color or is her husband lighter than she usually went for?
