  1. I am so disappointed in Matthew! I was feeling his and AD's little love story and thought his early awkwardness might be due to autism or something. But that ending? Where she found out he was saying the exact same lines to the other chick? My hat off to you, editors, because I did not see that coming! What a jerk! I also felt bad for the guy who found out that Lady#1 that he'd been talking to had a kid and then right after finds out that Lady#2 had been married before (sorry, I can't remember any of their names). I feel that he was so thrown by getting big news like that back to back that he was too emotionally exhausted to respond well to Lady#2, who will now probably end up with the big dude with the bad 80s haircut. Good start to the season though. Not sure how much love will be found but at least everyone's interesting, so far.
  2. I mean, her husband's Taika Waititi so dressing up as Shrek is pretty on brand for him.
  3. I love Love is Blind! My husband and are going to start the new season tonight after the kids go to bed. We just finished the Swedish season and that was wild!
  4. I believe what the issue was was that the boy was wearing a chain that the girl didn't like so apparently the girl and Melissa (who was involved in this, for some reason) had been giving hints that he should get a new chain that the girl would like instead. He was saying in front of Gregory how him getting this chain for himself would be a present for his girlfriend and Gregory said that that was a bad idea (unaware that this was what the girlfriend actually wanted), since on the surface, it does just seem like a selfish gesture. Honestly, I was bothered by how much the teachers were getting involved in the romantic relationships of middle schoolers. I'm with Gregory on this one. Those kids are too young for relationships and should be concentrating on other things.
  5. I think with deaf children, a lot of times the parents will send them to specialized schools for the deaf, where everyone uses ASL and the majority of teachers are deaf as well. Also, due to cochlear implants, there are less deaf children using ASL so she might be the only one in the district (or one of many few). One of my kids is in a special needs class and its been my experience that while the individual aides and teachers are very dedicated to the students, the schools and districts overall don't really make them a priority.
  6. What's most baffling is that I pulled up the episode where they do the DNA test and Sunny's came back with 36% European (or something close to that) and they broke down that most of it was from Spain, so she knew that she was about a third Spanish. It's also odd to me that she said her mother had always put "black" down for race. I'm sorry, what? Why would she do that? And in her memoir, Sunny talks about how her mother's side always referred to her as "negrita" (little black one) since she was darker than them. So why is she so surprised that she's part Spanish? I just can't! Especially for someone like Sunny that claims to be so into their heritage. If you never cared about your heritage and had never given it a second thought, then fine but it's weird to me that Sunny never connected the dots to how Spanish her Puerto Rican side was.
  7. It's obviously Prior's wife's grandma. She's been skulking around in the background all suspicious like this entire time.
  8. Yes, in my last post I concentrated on Jane not bringing up Max but John not bringing up that his mom's place was almost blown up was also nuts. I think I didn't concentrate on that as much since they didn't reveal it was his mom's place until much later in the episode (and he was able to defuse the bomb before it killed anyone). I assumed it was a place he was renting after he moved out of his and Jane's place. The fact that he thought Jane put a bomb in his mother's house and didn't lead with that when they first met back up is ridiculous.
  9. It would be very unusual for someone to not shoot with their predominate hand. Especially since their story was that he'd already shot himself before they got there, so it's not like he was reaching for the gun with the only free hand he had available. Same with punching, in most cases, you're going to use your predominate hand. So either Danvers or Navarro shot Wheeler, then after the fact they realized he was left handed, so it would be suspicious if he shot himself using his right hand. So they flipped the previous evidence photos, then claimed all the other files were lost in a flood (whether they set up said flood or there had been a recent one in the evidence room, I don't know), so any documentation of him being left handed would be erased from the case. The guy was a known abuser so probably no one felt a need to look into it until Prior.
  10. Eh. This was very anticlimactic for me. This was the first episode where John and Jane just kinda seemed too dumb to be spies. In the previous episode, they knew Hihi had been manipulating them but they don't take that into account when Jane gets shot at or John's mom's place is rigged with explosives? Then Jane takes forever to bring up her murdered cat. If I thought someone murdered my cat, that'd be the first thing I'd say to them but Jane beats around the bush even after they'd taken the truth serum. Then the double date Smiths show up and even though they're on mission fail #3 and that couple has admitted to taking out other Smiths in the past, John and Jane just walk right up to them, as if they're obviously not there to kill them. By the time we got to the ambiguous ending (which has been done to death), I was just kinda rolling my eyes and waiting for it to be over. I enjoyed this season overall but the last few episodes were a dip in quality for me so I'm hoping next season will do better. PS. Why would anyone think it's a good idea to bring a baby into this situation? The fact that that was even a discussion was bonkers to me.
  11. I just kinda turn my brain off for those parts because honestly, most of their missions don't really make sense. It's more about them trying to figure out how to carry out the mission, than why the mission exists in the first place.
  12. I really liked this episode but found myself annoyed with all the couples. With Melissa and her boyfriend, they're in their freakin' 50/60s, stop making jokey comments about marriage and have an actual, serious conversation. That entire, awkward situation could have been avoided. As for Gregory and Janine, I am so over them. Just have them be together or move on. I feel that they got them together way too soon so now they're having to come up with BS reasons for them not to be a couple.
  13. People like this always confuse me. Like, has Sunny not seen her mother? She's even referred to her mother as "white" before, so where did she think that whiteness came from? If you're Hispanic, odds are you're a mixture of Spanish and Native American, sometimes with black thrown in the mix. It's just so weird to me that people could be so ignorant, especially about their own heritage.
  14. I'm assuming that there are multiple "John and Jane" pairs out there and if they try to leave, the evil corporation kills them. Funnily enough, I think making their code names John and Jane would actually make them stand out instead of blend in (which is what you'd want if you were a spy). I'd be much more likely to remember a couple named John and Jane than a couple named Jared and Elizabeth or Jason and Amanda, since it would be more unusual in this day and age.
  15. I've been enjoying this season a lot. I find it realistic that in a town where most people don't make that much money doing manual labor for a living with harsh weather most of the year, you're going to have a lot of miserable people. I'm fine with the slower pace for the case and all the delving into the characters' lives and problems. And I'm glad that after a bit of a break, Jodie Foster is acting again (in both this and Nyad). I am a little worried about the fact that there are only two episodes left but I'm cautiously hopeful that it'll come to a satisfying conclusion (or at least one that isn't terrible).
  16. I'd choose Jonathan to leave. Not even a difficult choice. I am curious as to what went down between Bobby and Tan. Also, I do think it's kinda messed up that Bobby is saying that they'd all agreed not to renew their contracts and then he's the only one that didn't. This is why I've never vibed as much with this cast as with the original. With the original, they came off as if they'd all been friends forever and hung out outside of work. I was shocked when I found out that they'd all been cast independently because they had such an easy rapport with one another. With this new cast, they are very much co-workers. https://www.thecut.com/2024/01/bobby-berk-finally-explains-why-he-left-netflixs-queer-eye.html

    Season 8

KISS was on their farewell tour that wrapped in December, so I'm guessing there were scheduling conflicts.
  18. So my prediction (haven't finished the season yet) is that the couple we saw get killed at the beginning of the episode will be revealed to have been killed by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. The second shooter looked like Erskine to me, so I'm guessing that will be how the season ends. Also, I'm guessing that they're going to discover that the organization they're working for is evil, mainly because nothing they're doing seems on the up and up.
  19. Eh, I think Alyssa has a point. A lot of people just voted for Biden because they didn't want to vote for Trump, not because they thought Biden was so great, so I do think her "a potato could have beat Trump" analogy is correct. This time around, I don't think people will vote for Trump over Biden, but I think there will be a lot of votes for third party candidates and a lot of people who will just skip out on voting overall because they're fed up with both choices.
  20. Also, it's a relatively small town so it's possible that someone on the Coast Guard knows Navarro and her sister, so was able to make the ID.
  21. That reunion was wild! I was so frustrated that this site was closed for maintenance because I had so much that I needed to discuss after watching it. On the Sergio/Amanda thing, my theory is that Sergio knew a woman he'd slept with was pregnant but wasn't 100% on whether it was his baby or not. So either she'd contacted him and said that they'd have to get a paternity test after the baby was born (and just hadn't done so before the show started) or he knew via social media/mutual friends that she was pregnant and with the timing, realized that it could have been his. That's why he wouldn't straight up deny he was expecting a baby with someone else when questioned about it but because there was a chance it wasn't his, he felt he didn't have to confirm it either. In his mind, that doesn't count as lying. I'm also guessing that at some point he mentioned the baby thing to one or more guys in the pods (they do give them a lot of alcohol) and once they were out of the pods, that guy told one or more of the women from the pods (because the pod people always seem to have get togethers once they're out in the real world) and that's how the rumor got started. This is my guess anyway because I can't see how anyone would know about the baby unless Sergio told someone. Unless production knew the entire time and set the rumor in motion? I wouldn't rule that out. With Lukas and Amelia, I don't judge Lukas as harshly as a lot of other people. I think he was in a situation that he really didn't know how to handle and thought that maybe he could make it work when in reality, he should have just cut her loose once he realized there was no physical attraction. I think he was in denial about how important physical attraction is in a relationship and probably felt that it would make him a bad person if he broke up with her because of her looks. With Katya and Christopher, I feel that she was really bothered by his style but didn't tell him that. Maybe if she had, he wouldn't have felt so insecure and gone so overboard with the compliments. That being said, I did get weird vibes from Christopher during the reunion, so maybe there's just something off about him. The guy Katya did end up dating though? That was just weird. She said she usually prefers "sporty" guys and that guy was so far removed from that it was ridiculous. Not the type of guy I would have seen her going for at all but whatever works for her, I guess. Oskar and Meira both look like they've lost a lot of weight together. Hope things work out for them and Krissy/Rasmus. Would have liked some clarification on Rasmus wondering if Krissy was Asian. Was he hoping she was Asian, hoping she wasn't Asian or just wondering about it aloud in a neutral way?
  22. Ah, I see. When I read that the award was for "Black music creators", I took that to mean black musical artists, when it means artists in either jazz, hip hop, rap, r&b, etc. Gotcha.
  23. I do feel sorry for him. Yeah, he's a jerk and you could see this "twist" coming a million miles away but people are usually jerks for a reason and being lonely and unhappy is one of them. I also found it sad that he spent Christmas Eve alone instead of celebrating with his daughter-in-law and grandson. I'm wondering if Navarro's "second sight" (sixth sense? She can see dead people) plays into what happened between her and Danvers. Is the ghost of the dead victim going to possess that guy, making him kill himself? Or will the ghost speak through her, causing the guy to kill himself? Or do either Navarro or Danvers just shoot the guy right out? Also, I freakin' hate trigger warnings. I wish there was a way to opt out of them because I'm tired of having character deaths spoiled for me because they put a suicide warning. I'm also trying to figure out the deal with Prior and Danvers. She's very focused on him but it's not in a Mrs.Robinson way. Is it a replacement mother/son thing?
  24. I really, really need them to hire a research/fact check intern or something because the Grammy discussion was such a mess. First you have Sarah going on about how she felt that the Black Artist award the Grammys had in the 80s was ridiculous and look how far we've come in that Jay-Z won a Global Impact Award last night...only she seemed completely unaware that the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award is a black artist award, it just has a fancier title (and I'm assuming is kind of a lifetime achievement sort of thing) and no one corrected her one this. Then there's Whoopi declaring that Joni Mitchell had never won a Grammy when in fact Mitchell has 10 Grammys and last night marked the first time she performed at the Grammys (which they did at least correct but it's a mistake that shouldn't have been made in the first place). They have a morning meeting where they go over all the topics of the day and everyone's talking points so why oh why are these things not corrected then?
  25. Honestly, it always surprises me how quick the American participants are to jump into bed. I get that you've agreed to marry each other but in reality, they've known each other two weeks and there's no guarantee they're actually going to get married. The thing I found most interesting about this season is how not into each other physically most of the couples were. Usually, there's one couple where one person is just not feeling it physically from the go but this season, that was the case for three out of the five (and honestly, I don't understand how Amanda wasn't put off by Sergio in the looks department. I mean, the hair alone...). I am curious to watch the reunion on Sunday because I'm not sure Oskar and Meria will still be together. She just didn't seem that into him, even when they were getting married (which I found so strange since I thought Oskar was really great. He was friendly, good looking and was trying so hard to make things work with her). I'm glad Lucas didn't marry Emilia since he obviously wasn't attracted to her but I do wish Emilia had walked away first. And I just don't understand Sergio and Amanda as a couple.
