  1. Has anyone else been watching this limited series about the rise of late night TV? https://www.google.com/amp/s/deadline.com/2021/04/the-story-of-late-night-steve-allen-desus-mero-cnn-docuseries-johnny-carson-1234747734/amp/
  2. Well, NYC is set to fully reopen July 1st. We shall see.
  3. Yup, and in that particular show you have to really "get ugly". If that's your real-life partner going after you on stage, it would be that much rougher to let it go.
  4. Yeah, it's probably not the best show for real-life couples to do (see also: Liz Taylor and Richard Burton). 😳😳😳😳😳
  5. I also loved Ms. Dukakis as the principal in Mr. Holland's Opus. It wasn't a particularly large or flashy role, but she gave it a lot of heart and gravitas. She and Richard Dreyfuss were wonderful together. While watching reruns of the long-defunct NBC soap opera The Doctors on Retro TV, who should pop up as a daffy school guidance counselor in 1978 than Ms. Dukakis? See screen caps below. Her husband, Louis Zorich, also played a couple of bit parts on that show. Speaking of Mr. Zorich, here's a great story about the long-married couple, taken from his 2018 obit in the NY Times: In 1991 Mr. Zorich spoke of the one play he and Ms. Dukakis had done that he would not want to revisit: Edward Albee’s “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” They played George and Martha, the warring couple at the play’s center, in a 1979 production in Montclair and, he said, had gotten a little too into their characters. After playing the show for a few weeks, he said, he marched into her dressing room and asked, “Why are you going after me like that?,” only to hear her explain that she was merely playing the role. After another week or two, she confronted him with the same sort of accusation. “I’ll never forget that,” he said. “We almost got divorced.”
  6. I remember back in late 2017, when the #MeToo movement just blew up, Howie Mandel was a guest co-host. It was interesting to hear from a male in show business on that subject. At the time, the hosts were Julie, Sara, Sharon, Sheryl and Eve. I believe Sharon was out that day, and that’s why Howie was a guest host. I also remember Eve wondering aloud who would be next, as this was when every day a new, different male public figure was being called out. With the latest news about the Duggars, they should have plenty to talk about on the subject this coming week. I'm here for it.
  7. Thanks!! I had a feeling it was a dress. 🥰
  8. It seems that Evan Rachel Wood's bravery has opened up the doors for more women to speak out. I wish Ms. Bianco all the best and applaud her for her bravery as well.
  9. I go into detail about my thoughts about Meghan in today's show on her own thread, but I actually found her almost bearable - for awhile. I liked that she was the one leading the giggling over the Giuliani clip. Ana was as concise and fun as always, and Sunny was on point with her legal opinions. I was just distracted by Sunny's eye makeup. Way too much eyeliner/mascara. Sara wins the look of the day, hands down. Her hair, makeup and top (is it a blouse or a dress? I can't find a full length photo yet) were all perfect. Sara is ready for summer!! 😎
  10. Meghan actually surprised me this morning. I thought she would be enraged at the clip of Rudy Giuliani from Fox "News" that aired at the top of the show. Instead, she was giggling and it was infectious. Like her, I found the socialite endlessly entertaining and wouldn't mind seeing her as a guest. I remember a few weeks ago, she was talking about taking pleasure in little things like T-shirts shot out of cannons at events. The Meghan then and in the first segment of today's show is someone I could actually tolerate...maybe even like. Alas, the spell broke soon after about the whole nepotism in politics thing. It was nice while it lasted!!
  11. He has made me sick for years. My blood is boiling. Hopefully these new charges will be enough to put him away for a long, long time. 😡😡😡😡😡
  12. Why don't we have an angry emoji on this site? This creep literally makes my blood boil. 😡😡😡😡😡
  13. Speaking of second generation ballplayers, in Cleveland we have relief pitcher Cal Quantrill. @Ms Blue Jay should remember his dad, Paul (also a relief pitcher) very well. Kudos to the writer of this article. Thank you!! Let's also get back to 9-inning doubleheaders and no one on base to start every extra inning while we're at it!! https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.si.com/.amp/mlb/2021/04/29/three-batter-rule-genesis-cabrera-amendment-safety-ejection
  14. Yes, Evie IS America's Sweetheart. I melt every time she and Stephen are on screen together. Hopefully someday I'll meet the Stephen to my Evie. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
  15. Yes, she is. I would like to see her on more often because she has so many intelligent things to say and share. Ana is also very generous to her fans. I wrote to her recently and just today I got the photo I had sent back autographed - thanking me for my "VIEWership". 🥰
  16. Thank goodness Ana is on tomorrow. If The Princess is on and starts yammering, I hope Ana has the nail file handy...😉
  17. I don't know what the show's ratings were in March 2020 before they went virtual, but I've been wondering if ad revenue was already down and Marie's departure was partially for budgetary reasons. Elaine and Amanda were/are virtually unknowns who come with a much cheaper price tag. Now CBS is on the hook for Sharon's $10 million payout. I'm no prognosticator, but it's not looking good looking ahead. As I said before, I don't think they have anything to lose by adding a limited amount of people in so they have a live audience again. What Jimmy Fallon has been doing - bringing in fully-vaccinated, masked health care workers - is something right up their alley. Remember when (usually for the hosts' birthdays) they would have audiences made up of first responders, teachers, caregivers, veterans, etc.? I think they should go for it.
  18. I hope that Sheryl and Carrie Ann are not feuding. They had that wonderful bond right from the time Carrie Ann joined the show and it continued on. If they are at odds, I sincerely hope they can resolve things and be friends again. Life has changed since they were all last around the table (remember the table?)...no one is disputing that. Not only did they have the logistical nightmare of putting a show together from five separate homes (including Eve's in London), there were the constant (yet important) preemptions from the CBS affiliates for COVID-19 updates. Then there were the issues with Marie. Even when the cast, minus Eve, returned to the studio in September the spark had gone. I definitely think no live audience has been a huge factor, but there were literally no news stories that were not touched by the pandemic and/or politics. This could not be the happy, fluffy show it was pre-2020. Sure, they highlighted some great human interest stories, but it wasn't the same. Things just got worse when Eve left and Carrie Ann's health issues exacerbated. Carrie Ann couldn't even be present for Eve's final episode because she was in hospital after she contracted COVID-19. Elaine and Amanda's first show had to be virtual due to a COVID-19 spike in LA right at holiday time. Two days later was 1/6. The Oprah interview with Harry and Meghan was finally a story in their wheelhouse - they've had many fun segments in the past regarding British royal gossip. Who would have guessed that the fallout from that interview would rip the show apart? Even just one of these events would be enough to stress anyone out on the show - crew included. To have them all happen within the span of 13 months would be just about unbearable. It's no wonder Carrie Ann's health issues have gotten worse. Sheryl especially looks like she is carrying the weight of the world...and no wonder. She and Sharon had worked together for nearly 10 years and their friendship is most likely irrevocably broken. Time will tell if the show itself is irrevocably broken. I think even having a limited capacity audience couldn't hurt at this point. Morale is at an all-time low and that vibe comes right through the screen.
  19. God bless Whoopi!! She may be an EGOT, but no one can make up an expression like that. This picture will never NOT be funny!! 🤣😂
