Wild Card: The Downfall of a Radio Loudmouth
Tachi Rocinante replied to Tachi Rocinante's topic in HBO Documentaries
After reading that article, it's more than obvious that the friendly filmmakers soft-pedalled a lot of stuff. Did they even mention that his wife left him? -
A few more thoughts: Why did this seem like an attempt to downplay Allison Mack's role? That whole montage in the flowers with tears rolling down was ridiculous. Not only that, but you can see in her earlier videos with Keith how vibrant and healthy she looked. The dockside meeting was very telling. Nippy gets it. (Just not about his name, I guess . . .) I like how the one woman misspelled Vanguard on her whiteboard as "Vangod".
-
So he came up with the name "Vanguard" from the video game? Or was that a slight jab? Either way, that game sucked. I laughed out loud at the old commercial, though. Why they showed him playing Galaga, I have no idea . . . Frank looked real uncomfortable on camera.

S46.E02: Bill Burr / Jack White
Tachi Rocinante replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Saturday Night Live
Lorne kept Armisen around for years and he was hardly ever funny, so I wouldn't hold my breath. -
S46.E02: Bill Burr / Jack White

Wow. Kate was simply awful. Van Halen custom guitar aside, Jack White is irritating at best. I would have preferred to hear the studio band. -
This episode was a little better. Until the last scene. Jeez.

"Aspergers? Yeahh, I don't have it. I'm just a dick." Liking Slattery so far.

Did you not see Dani and her Smokey the Bear hat? Maybe Enzo can get one of those for his dome.

S22.E28: Eviction #11, Head of Household #12
Tachi Rocinante replied to peachmangosteen's topic in Past Seasons
Can we get a "yeah" counter for Cody as well? Meathead doesn't begin to describe this Cro-Mag. Aww, Dani's tears look delicious. She is the perfect illustration of self-unawareness. -
I like the approach - HBO Max did the same thing with Raised By Wolves (even though the ending was WTF). I tried really hard last year to ration the episodes but ended up binging it anyway; I agree that this will allow for better and timely discussion. If they do the book justice, this will be a landmark season.

Wild Card: The Downfall of a Radio Loudmouth
Tachi Rocinante replied to Tachi Rocinante's topic in HBO Documentaries
Meh. Never heard of the guy, and I listen to sports radio. I think some of his gambling numbers were a bit inflated to create drama. Nobody's that stupid, and I know some degenerate gamblers. He appears to be remorseful, but part of me thinks the douchebag "character" in the back of his head just wanted back on the radio (which apparently will happen). -
Craig Carton was a prominent New York sports radio personality (with Boomer Esiason) until his secret gambling addiction--financed by an illicit ticket-brokering business--halted his career and landed him in jail. In a series of interviews, Carton opens up on how he went from big city success to convict.

Thanks for this. Definitely worth a listen.

S22.E26: Head of Household #11, Nominations #11

Now we know why Enzo always wears a head covering. That brief glimpse was frightening. -
The dig on Jordan Peele was rather interesting . . .

S46.E01: Chris Rock / Megan Thee Stallion

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure. Glad I held off on the snark. 😁 -

Whaa? Not sure If I'm missing something here . . . -
The music from "They Live" was a nice touch. Trey and Matt must really like that movie.

Come to think of it, some of the 'voices' kinda sounded like Parseltongue . . . 🐍

This episode should've been titled We Have No Fucking Idea, Either. It's almost as if they fired the writing staff after the first nine episodes and brought in someone with a peripheral knowledge of the story to finish it. The cave paintings were interesting. "All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again. Sol say we all." 😜

Wow, Cody really is fucking stupid. "That's not a thing!"

Watched it on CBS and I have not been spoiled on anything. I'll give it a chance for a few more eps - I like Michele Yeoh. People need to lighten the fuck up about the Klingon makeup. Jeez. Someone upthread mentioned the "zealot" aspect - maybe they are a shunned subgroup. I'm sure there is some diversity amongst the entire Klingon race. If not, TPTB can retcon it into existence. The Expanse is definitely better, though (hence my screen name).
