  1. It's getting more traffic than the Goldbergs board, but maybe that's just because it's new. Interesting info about the requirements to be a teacher. I hadn't even thought about the private school angle, maybe they're not subject to the same government standards as public schools. Usually you think of private schools as being better than public schools. I was wondering if teaching the topic of music might not require a degree, but that doesn't sound right.
  2. Maybe he should have thought about that before taking the job. I guess it was too big an opportunity for him to turn down though.
  3. While that is true, I've never seen a "book smart" person act like Barry. Looking at Barry, "book smart" would be the last way I would think to describe him. Besides, Barry goes beyond not having common sense. The only explanation I can think of is that Beverly bullied the teachers into giving him good grades.
  4. I like some of the other characters but Betty and Jughead are the best, and they need to stay together. I'm scared to death they are going to break them up and give Betty a romance with Archie. I cannot stand Archie. The idea that he gets left behind and has to stay in school while his friends move on kind of amuses me. I actually wouldn't have minded hearing Veronica sing more of Eres Tu. This show is so funny, Veronica's in high school but she runs a bar lol.
  5. I have a question, don't you need some sort of college degree to be a teacher? Does this mean that Lainey ended up going back to college and finishing up? Thought it was funny that Miss Fleming (I think it was) volunteered for Coach Mellor's proposal to have a child together. Was she the same teacher that he had the crush on last episode? I remember Tamagotchis but were the really "the biggest toy of them all" like they claimed?
  6. Yeah, they showed Barry's report card and it was all A's and B's. Yet in most scenes he is portrayed as an absolute dunderhead. I don't understand how the character we see on screen is getting those grades, in fact I'm not buying it at all. Maybe the real Adam Goldberg gets some sort of kick (or revenge for something) out of portraying his brother as an idiot. Erica mentioned she hadn't sang in like three weeks, ever since Lainey left. This got my hopes up, but then they played a song with her singing. Oh well. I've got to agree, what the heck is she doing with her life? She should probably just admit she made a mistake and go back to college, it's not too late for her. Unless the real "Eric" Goldberg chose some path other than college, anyone know what he ended up doing for a living?
  7. I thought the same thing when I watched it. He could have kept it warm had he stored it in some sort of insulated bag, but I didn't see what he pulled it out of. He didn't seem to be familiar with the dish, he might not even have known it was supposed to be served warm.
  8. I think people dislike Lea because there's a perception that she's trifling with Shaun's affections, despite the fact that she made it very clear to him she was only interested in being friends. It appears he is hoping for more. I've disliked Glassman ever since last year when he insisted on pushing a therapist onto Shaun, despite his repeated protests that he didn't want one. Shaun's a grown man, he should be able to decide for himself. Glassman ran a hospital, he should know you can't force treatment on a patient without his consent. Like him or not though, I'm tired of his storyline. I don't expect they are going to kill him off, so the quicker he gets through the chemo the better, as far as I'm concerned.
  9. I'm in the midwest, and from what I know they usually put something on the top of tuna casserole to make it crunchy. On the wikipedia page (linked to below), it says it is often topped with potato chips, corn flakes, bread crumbs or canned fried onions. I've heard of and tried all of those variations. The idea of Becky eating it cold sounds nasty though (if it was cold). Could be a pregnancy craving, I guess... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuna_casserole
  10. I really wanted to like Peter, because I like Matthew Broderick, but they've been hinting all along that he was a bad guy so I'm not surprised. More good acting by Laurie Metcalf, they sure make her earn her money on this show. Interesting to hear the audience squeal a little when they raised the possibility of David and Darlene getting back together - which I wonder about, since Big Bang Theory is wrapping up this season. If Galecki wants a job, I expect he's got one (albeit for a big pay cut, I'm sure). Strong episode to finish on. I'm surprised at how much I am engaged in this old retread of a show!
  11. Hate to say it but they definitely seemed to be giving that impression. Maybe that explains why Lea doesn't have any friends: Who needs friends when you can get dates? Where did they say Lea worked? Because that place looks awesome. I thought it was nice not to have a case of the week for this episode, I've always liked these kind of "between the panels" types of stories. The song at the end of the episode, while everyone goes about their business is really getting to be a tired cliche. Sometimes it can be very effective, but most of the time it's just tired. They did that at the end of every House too, pretty much.
  12. Saw this today finally, I remember seeing the trailer in the theater. Wow, I just have to say, that was not what I was expecting. I thought it would be maybe a comedy (after all, it had Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis) or maybe a light sci fi. Instead, it was just kind of.... depressing. To make matters worse, I saw there was going to be the sister from Atypical in this, and she was barely in a scene and didn't get a line. She might as well have been a lamp. Waste of talent. That said, I didn't think it was horrible. Not great, but not horrible. I liked Ngoc Lan. I would hate to have to get all my dental work extracted to have that procedure, but at least they were unconscious the whole time.
  13. Seems a little silly to spoiler warning this, but just in case:
  14. I've never been a big fan of breast implants, but I guess I'm more sympathetic to the idea of Brie getting one to compensate for sagging and deflation than just wanting to walk around with a big pair. It probably is frustrating to go from having small but perky boobs to saggy. I can't blame Nikki for not wanting to be set up. It's also kind of weird how Mama Bella was picking up young guys in da club (for Nikki). I'm not sure Johnny would be that pleased with the idea, although they never really addressed his reaction.
  15. I also see it as a slice of realism. I've always been against the predictable ending of her finally making it big in Hollywood as an actress. The odds are so stacked against that happening, I just don't want to see it. And most likely if it was going to happen for her, it would have happened already. Besides, even though it isn't the job she worked for, she doesn't seem to hate it, and it uses a lot of her natural talents. I don't really have any idea what they can do with her and Leonard at the end, other than maybe give them a baby, but that is pretty bleh.
  16. If you look at her face while he was reading the letter, it did look like she liked what was being said. She must have liked Georgie's prose. It couldn't have come to any big surprise to her that he liked her, but maybe she thought he was only interested in her physically.
  17. Oh, well that's a little disappointing, but it's still funny. :)
  18. Shoot, I'm still laughing about the ship being named the Orville.
  19. I like this show, but that's one thing about it. It's wildly inconsistent. Things appear one way for a few episodes, and then a few episodes later everything is switched around. "Barchie" sounds about right for their ship name because it sounds like barf. By the way, I forgot to add I didn't care for Cheryl and Toni being sexy cat burglars. I know Cheryl is a villainous character (much of the time), but the show almost seemed to be suggesting there was something cool about what they were doing, and there isn't. Even with the cat ears.
  20. Is it wrong that I'm almost hoping that Archie is really dead? My suspicion is that he is going to send back word to Riverdale somehow that he is dead, and that will lead to certain circumstances and allow him to sneak in and accomplish whatever he needs to accomplish with Hiram to make it safe for him to return again. I'm a little bugged about Veronica developing a relationship with Reggie. Mainly because I do NOT want Archie and Betty to end up having a romance. I like Jughead with Betty too much, and I like Betty too much to see her with Archie, who I just can't warm up to. The other thing that bugged me is does it seem likely that Veronica's speakeasy is going to be able to pay enough to gainfully employ all those Serpents? Supposedly they all needed money, are they going to be able to be paid enough to support them? I'm not sure the economics work out here. I did enjoy them popping out and surprising the Gargoyle Gang though.
  21. I also loved that. I'm also a fan of The King and I, so that was nice to see. In fact, I had actually quoted that movie to my girlfriend earlier in the evening. I'm not a huge fan of Billy Joel, but there's nothing wrong with him. Those songs fit in very well in the episode. It's amazing how popular 20th century pop is in this future. I don't think that's a far fetched idea, by the way. I liked Mercer's ploy to let Telaya go. Despite her objections, it did seemed to have an effect on her. Hopefully it will pay off for Krill/Union relations in the future. Peace accords often begin with two people talking, Mercer did a nice job of diplomacy. He must have felt pretty foolish after announcing his new relationship though.
  22. That makes sense given his condition. But under the circumstances, asking for help with the light could have been a life saving task.
