  1. I wonder if Wil ever has to put any money in there?
  2. Or maybe Isaac is in the rest of the episodes, but the rest of the crew are not! The Kaylons said "Co-existance is impossible!". I too that to be their catchphrase.
  3. Oh yeah, he had a couple lines. He asked why they couldn't try diplomacy instead of always trying to kill the monster (in the game), and Manganiello said something like "Of course Podcast here wants to talk it over, what a surprise". And then he told Shatner to put a dollar in the Star Trek jar.
  4. I would tell you that you were way off. But if this is a test on the Kaylon's part, who knows, you might end up right after all lol.
  5. Poor Shatner. If it had been a Star Trek episode, he would have gotten the girls. I love Star Trek, and I'm a big fan of Captain Kirk, but I probably would have found Kevin Smith the most interesting to talk to.
  6. Let's face it, the humans don't appear to know anything about any of the aliens that they are allied with. I think you were ahead of the curve on this one. I know I didn't see this coming. I hadn't really thought about the Kaylons' creators. For all I knew, the creators Wall-E'd themselves to death.
  7. Sackhoff and Glau were before the guys were married though. In fact, Howard hadn't even met Bernadette yet when they saw Glau on the train. And Sackhoff was just a figment of Howard's imagination. Regarding your comment about women: If you put Sackhoff and Glau in a room, the guys would likely divide their attention between the two. With the girls, they will likely all focus on the one guy they deem the sexiest (in this case, Manganiello).
  8. Oh, it's completely believable. Still a little mean spirited though. I wonder how the girls would act if all the men had slipped out to spend time drooling over some actress, and send them a picture to rub their nose in it?
  9. I lived through the 80s and grew up in the 60s, and IMO those reactions to Sheldon's "commie" remarks were way, way over the top. Of course it's a comedy, so you'll find over the top reactions. But this was to the point of absurdity, and I didn't think it sat well with the more realistic tone the rest of the series has set.
  10. That scene where Isaac was looking at the picture Ty drew, then dropped it on the floor kind of bugged me. Obviously it was meant for dramatic purposes, and it was a cold move, but it brings up all kinds of questions. Wouldn't he have deposited it in some sort of trash receptacle? I could buy that the floor is regularly automatically cleaned, but if that is the case, why don't we see crew members chucking stuff on the floor all the time? On the other hand, this is evil Isaac, so of course he's a litterbug.
  11. Ha! I forgot about the Sally Field Oscar speech reference, I was going to mention that. The 80/90s pop culture references are pretty silly, but I just figure they go along with the comedy part of the show, so they don't bother me.
  12. Well, that was quite the turn... Early on, I was thinking that it was funny that the Kaylon was throwing human history in Ed's face, basically saying "Your culture sucks", just as the humans were looking down on Moclan culture last week. If the Moclans are going to become the Klingons, then apparently the Kaylon's are the Borg. Complete with catchphrase: "Co=existance is impossible". I really hope this isn't just a test by the Kaylons. It might make sense, but it would really be a copout. Besides, how is the Union supposed to act after finding all those mass graveyards? And while maybe it was dumb to confront them with it, there probably wasn't much choice. It's doubtful they could have escaped under the circumstances. Odd how only Isaac's eyes are blue. My guess is something will happen so that he will end up remaining with the crew. If not, this show is getting to be like the new Walking Dead: First we lose Alara, now we lose Isaac. But I expect he'll stick around.
  13. Cringe-worthy! You put it much better than I did. Funny how some of us thought it was awful and other people liked it. I forgot to say that Georgie and Veronica were cute together. And I liked Missy saying she traded her lunch sandwich for Ding Dongs.
  14. You're right, now that you mention it. A lot of the older, classic era Big Bang shows were kind of mean spirited. For instance, Penny used to be much more half hearted about Leonard - you could tell that she didn't fully appreciate him, if you know what I mean. But that's what kept the tension and made it seem real. Now they're married and they've established she loves him, so there's no more tension unless they get divorced, which no one wants to see.
  15. I'm not going to insult Texas, I thought this episode was poorly written. I know it was Texas, and I know it was the 80s, but it wasn't the McCarthy era. And I thought MeeMaw on her front lawn singing patriotic songs was ridiculous - and not in a good way.
  16. Is it because we saw Wheaton's porch back in season 6, "The Habitation Configuration"? I enjoyed the episode, although I thought it was kind of mean spirited. Penny shutting down "grandpa" Shatner, but he was no more flirty with her than Professor Proton, and she was very sweet to him. Penny not being interested in Leonard's stories. Stuart's friends ganging up on him. All the guys wanting a seat at the D&D table at the others expense. The girls all going gaga over a celebrity who played a stripper in a movie. All three getting invited to the D&D game, when none had any real interest in D&D, while the guys had to maintain silence and could only be present one at a time. Still, it was entertaining.
  17. Sigh, another episode based on an 80s movie. The stuff with the Jokers and JTP was heart warming though. If I'm not mistaken, they implied that Real Barry pays for five season tickets for the Eagles every year for himself and his friends. Pretty nice of him. I was also intrigued by those "Liberty Seats" or whatever they were called, where you had seats for every event of the year in Veteran's Stadium (I think). He said they cost $10,000, but I imagine they would be much more expensive today. Unfortunately, they Phillies and Eagles no longer play in the same stadium. This show is getting really formulaic. Pick a theme based on an 80s movie, throw in another subplot, and play a song over the last five minutes as you wrap everything up. I don't mind Erica, she makes great eye candy. I just don't want to hear her sing. Not that she's bad, I'm just not interested. They really need to find something for her to do with her life other than nap on the couch. Considering this family raised two doctors and a TV writer/producer, I doubt that they would tolerate her underachieving like this.
  18. But when they are facing a more primitive culture, like the one a few episodes ago that believed in astrology, they are not allowed to interfere. They are forced to respect the state of development that their culture is in. So if they do that for them, it seems inconsistent to not do that also for the Moclans. I do agree the Moclans are likely to become villains in the future (even more so than they are now).
  19. Obviously the values are not universal if everyone in the universe doesn't share them. The Moclan culture may be advanced technologically but primitive from a "tolerance" standpoint. Even if that is the case, that doesn't mean their culture is based on hate - it may have some unwise elements. You can say that for any culture though. How does the Union feel about tolerance of religious beliefs? Or will they despise or dismiss such as "primitive superstition", because it isn't a favorite cause of McFarlane's (as I suspect)? Can a culture be too tolerant? What if they encountered a culture that was tolerant of pedophiles? What if that culture looked on the Union's with disdain because they viewed it as intolerant? Now that would be interesting. Most cultural views depend on which point in time you are looking at. Our "universal values" today are much different than they were 80 years ago, say. They will likely be very different 80 years from now. But okay, the Moclan culture sucks. Now what? Do we try to have a dialogue with them about it? What if they're not willing? What if they want to change things about our culture? Then what? Do we break off all contact with them? Kill them for it (have a war with them)? Or just say "Your culture sucks" and leave it at that.
  20. Lol, good point. But the guy would have to get close enough for them to find out first. Money aside, Billy seems like the kind of father who would be cleaning his shotgun while talking to the potential suitor. Or he might be even less subtle. Who would have thought No-uh would be the first Brown to pass on his genes. Rhain has a lot to answer for.
  21. Yeah, I really dislike suggestions that the patient doesn't have the right to know. Especially if I ask a direct question, I expect to be accorded the respect of being told the truth. Nice to see Dr. Glassman being a little more sociable.
  22. It looks like in this particular future, everyone is too busy congratulating themselves on how "woke" they are to pay much attention to other species. But yeah, you'd think they'd study the practices of the aliens that they work around, if only for the bits that they can be self righteously indignant at. 😉
  23. The Moclans aren't there because of science, they exist solely so Seth can tell his social morality tales. That's not the worst thing in the world, but it isn't the best science fiction either.
  24. I saw a commercial for it. There's a scene where No-uh is showing off Rhain's pregnant belly. It really looked to me like there was some jealousy in Bird's eyes. Maybe she does harbor some thoughts about having a family of her own, after all. It's probably the biggest mystery of the show to me that there has been no discussion at all of her dating, or wanting to date, or of any thoughts of the future aside from living with Rain (although it sounds like Rain has other plans). I have a suspicion that Billy might be overprotective of his daughters, to the point of keeping all potential boyfriends away from them.
