S03.E07: The Collection Agency
Pondlass1 replied to Sew Sumi's topic in Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath
I had to smile at the attractive older lady Registrar (or something) when she said she slept, watched TV, slept, watched TV when she escaped. I wonder what she watched? Most TV is dreadful. I felt bad for the wife of the first couple that spoke. Her husband (probably a lovely man) but he seemed the type of personality that is easily led. Now they're in the hole for a thousands. Is law enforcement, the IRS and occupational health and safety departments watching this show? Will any action ever be taken? There seems to be enough evidence for a full investigation on what goes on behind the fences. -

It’s getting more and more frustrating to watch this show each week. -
There surely will be a scene of Michael watching Peaky Blinders and then clothes shopping...
-
So do I. I also think the big lady in the little blue chair (apologies I don’t know her name) should be given the job. She’s obviously a fan and she’s more likely to ask the same questions we would and then follow up once they’ve answered. Not go onto the next question on the prompter. OTOH much of this show is fake, so I can appreciate why TLC wants questioning controlled.
-
If TLC wants the ratings they should encourage the host to ask more difficult follow-up questions. None of those participants have clean hands (as Judge Judy would say). They're all mean, nasty or stupid. I felt bad for Larissa who had to walk into an enraged hive of bees with stingers all set to attack. The late plane, the lost luggage (only Larissa's) - I'm pretty sure it was manufactured by TLC for our entertainment and ratings. So Larissa was subjected to the full brunt of attack. No fair, because out of the lot of them she pretty much does have clean hands. Her only crime is a temper that goes from 1 to 100 in a nano second. The poor woman has to sleep with soft and swollen Coltee, reside with cats and Mother, ride in a hot car and wear a bridal dress from Goodwill. She is earning her Green Card. Fern smirking she could smell 'garbage' so Larissa must be close. Potty mouth Ashley squeezed into a pale sausage-like dress - who'd once offered Larissa a place to stay - jumped on the bandwagon of nastiness. Larissa was under full mob attack and unfortunately the woman only knows one way to defend herself. Deafening yells. It was unfair IMO. I don't like mob mentality. Also - were the blue contacts irritating and causing tears? Leida is hard as nails. She doesn't cry. The unemployed couple with another baby on the way should move back to the island, put flowers in their hair and live a simple life on the beach. Sis can come too. Stephen is still menacing. If Olga comes to these shores I hope she always remembers to say thank you.

Jon and fern are boring...

It was an entertaining crop this season, although I'm well aware most of it is manufactured for our viewing pleasure. Looking forward to the reunion tonight. I'm sure they've all been told to ramp up the crazy.

Fast food and junk food is to blame for the burgeoning number of 600+ pounders. I doubt there was even one bedridden obese case 50 years ago when most meals were home cooked and portions small. All the cooking shows on TV these days, yet most folk I know still stop off at the fast food place for the evening meal. We're too busy to cook and fast food is cheap and as addictive as heroin. Portion sizes are now at ridiculous levels. The future is looking fatter and fatter. Wider doorways and reinforced floors for everyone.

Dr Now cracks me up sometimes. One enabler said “She gets so mad if I don’t bring her the food she wants” wherein Dr Now responded “So? She can’t get out of bed and hit you can she?” LOL. 🤣
-
Oh, the good ol' days when a death meant something and hit us in the gut. What on earth would Dabb have done with this script? I dread to think.
-
A good point. But often it's family and even children that are cleaning and feeding the bed-bound obese. It seems such a simple thing to limit the amount of food and take away the phone, since the enabler is in charge and the obese cannot move. I wouldn't care how much they yelled. But, then, I've never been in that situation.

The show follows such a rigid formula it's becoming boring and predictable (for me anyway). We start off with scenes of rivers and streams while the subject reads a poem. Then she tells us about her awful life and the only comfort was to eat herself into obesity. Then the usual sponge bath eyesore. Then the laptop talk with Dr. Now. Then the trip to Houston in some kind of van. They promise to lose 50 pounds. We know they won't because they film the patient cheating. Dr. Now gets serious and angry. Patient wakes up to the program and loses required amount. Surgery. And some post surgery scenes. It's all the same episode only featuring different people. I wish they'd shake the formula up a bit. Octavia seemed to have a loving family, a clean home, and - thank goodness - no dogs. I wish her well. It's the enablers that fascinate me more. Why do they do it?

S03.E06: Ideal Orgs
Pondlass1 replied to Sew Sumi's topic in Leah Remini: Scientology And The Aftermath
It's a scary 'religion' that demands its members go into deep debt and encourages the break up of families. I think the internet and cell phones might feature in the downfall of this cult. People are way more google worldly now and a hidden cell phone could capture incriminating evidence. Law enforcement and the IRS seem powerless against the COS. A defined definition of 'religion' versus 'cult' is maybe needed so that these brainwashed "parishioners" can be protected from losing their life savings to buy another empty building for Miscavige to boast about. -

None of it makes any sense. If Miscavige demanded the $$ from 'parishioners' to build more and more fancy mansions with gold plated toilet seats for himself I could maybe understand. But the money is for fancy buildings that will remain desolate and empty once built. Buildings that Miscavige actually has no use for - it's all for show and pomp and circumstance and the brainwashing of 'parishioners'. It's beyond stupidity. What is the point? Humans are so easily brainwashed. It's scary. -
Oh well, there goes that idea. :)

Wonder if they'll dye JDM's beard? It's just a nod to fans and the fact that all three J's are good friends. I doubt Dabb & Co will give much deep thought to the shared tragedy and emotional history of father and sons. Maybe Spook John will assist with getting Dean back into the bod? But it'll be fun if Michael is still inside Dean and tells his father a few home truths. He's got all Dean's memories and grievances at his disposal. I'd like Michael to have a go at aloof goof Mary as well. It'll be such fun and Jensen would rock it. But likely John's return will be soapy and hugs all round. Otherwise twitter fans will riot. At least have John admit he's proud of his boys.

2018 was a fairly good year for me, except I had to have eye surgery which wasn't fun at all. Fingers crossed we get some badass scripts and Michael Dean. But the show seems to be doing well in the ratings so they might just continue with Soapernatural. Best wishes to everyone for a healthy and happy 2019. Peace on Earth Goodwill to all Men (and Women) and all that. :)

I honestly don't believe any of those weddings were real, just filmed for the show. John (or whatever) was wearing his wedding ring in shots before the 'ceremony'. The few guests, the stark empty seats, the fact that no one bothered to dress up... it was all for our entertainment and critique. And then there's Coltee's odd colour choice for a too-small suit and the many many MANY unflattering camera shots of his back fat and womanly thighs. Mother in a pink shirt (maybe one of Coltee's that shrunk). It was all bit too set up. They all may have had genuine ceremonies - but not the one's filmed. Not in my opinion anyway. Fair Ashley will age quickly if she keeps sitting in the sun, pulling faces and furrowing her brow. She does have a small frame so the boobs might be bolted on. It's easier to tell the longer they've been there because the skin begins to stretch and thin across the chest from the weight. Anyone who;s watched the Housewives would know what I mean. Jay most likely will come home with an STD one night. Hope she stays away from him. Leida has no waist. I think Coltee has a more womanly shape than Leida. I missed the final 20 minutes. So I'll have to wait for a re-watch to see what happened with Larissa and Coltee. But he winds her up and then sits back and watches her lose her shit. I think Mother Dearest does too judging by the smirks. I used to have a boyfriend like that. I'd get angry over something and he'd talk to me like I was a child in a slow calm manner that drove me up the wall in frustration. Hope Olga and baby remain in Russia. Next week looks like fun.

Fights are expensive and take time to film and the Js want more time off to be with family. This is the go-to response we'd get. Thing is, it's not that expensive or time consuming. And we need to see the brothers in action at least once a season or the whole scenario doesn't work. Why would they still be alive? Two humans up against all kinds of supernatural evil that can kill them with a blink of the eye. Well, they're badass that's why they're still alive. But they're not badass anymore are they? Especially not Dean who once took out a house full of demons while Cain watched. Who survived a year in purgatory, etc. etc. Dean used to be badass. Now he swaggers a bit. But Dabb has made him a joke ... plus there's always a spell or spear that will take out the supernatural baddie, so no need to outwit or fight... just a lazy computer generated light show. (Don't get me started on the high-wire debacle.) I agree that given the chance Jensen would jump at the opportunity for something like the SGA episode mentioned above. He's strong and muscled in appearance and coordinated and would enjoy the experience . Standing about spouting exposition is not Jensen's thing. And the show needs a fight scene every once in a while - like we used to get in the past. I'm beginning to forget Dean is a cool down and dirty street fighter actually. So much of his screen time is spent sitting down these days. Sitting is the new smoking.

The TH's segment on all reality TV makes me even more convinced it's all pretty much a set-up and we're being manipulated. They could at least get them to change outfits for the TH filming so their comments are a bit more believable.

Well, neither one of them have green eyes... so...
