Hopefully Sam will win next year since Cas won last year and Dean has won numerous times.

Since I’ve already posted asking about it I’d rather wait until we get a response. For now I think we should just post in this thread following @trxr4kids suggestion of headlong posts with something like Readers Discussion to allow those uninterested to skip past the post. Then when mods respond we can move if needed :)

I was going to put this in this thread, but if other users would prefer we could look into starting a thread. I’ll ask a mod :) ETA: @gonzosgirrl I’ve just posted asking the mods for clarification about whether we should stay in here or move to a new thread. Hopefully they’ll get back to us soon :)

You can post your thought whenever :) . While you’re still reading or when you’re done. Whatever you feel like. I’d say we can just use our judgement re spoiler tags. I mean there would be no need for spoiler tags for something general like “I love this authors characterisation. I really feel like they get the characters voices” but a big plot detail like “bobby’s death in chapter 9 was so sad” would be better in spoilers?

How about a fic @trxr4kids recommended to me? It’s the shortest of the rec fics I believe so the most suited to starting off short. • I have mixed feelings on the judge making an example of Thea. On the one hand, I feel sorry for her. On the other hand, yay for rich people not getting to buy their way out of trouble. • I think Cassidy did a good job of conveying Laurel’s desire to help Thea in a they were never able to help Sara. Definitely one of her better acted scenes of the season so far :) . • Oliver’s casual murder in the garage. Damn that was cold :s . OH WAIT! He didn’t actually kill him yay Oliver. I have to admit they caught me out with that! I was expecting ‘the murder’ to be used as a way of showing us Oliver is still suffering PTSD from the island. • The Count has a joker like vibe going on... I like it! • Did I miss and or forget the explanation... What exactly is the plant Oliver is using to heal all his injuries?

Smaller fics to get things up and running sounds good to me. Would allowing a week for each fic work? That way there should be a decent amount of time for everyone involved to read it.

• What is Tommy’s father up to? • Ooh Diggle vs Oliver! What a good lead in to the opening credit. • Ben Browder! It’s always nice to have a guest star I recognise! • “So no wine then” the delivery of that line made me chuckle. • I’m glad that Diggle discovered the bug, but chose to keep it in place if needed. The writers choice to do this ensured Diggle wasn’t dumbed down for plot convenience and it also displayed how much Diggle trusts Oliver. • Loved the Tommy and Laurel scene towards the end of the episode. His actor does a good job of selling to the audience the man behind the facade. • As @MsSchadenfreude said, I’m glad that John was spared from having to kill Gaynor. While I think he could have done it if absolutely necessary the guilt would have eaten away at him. After all it’s not easy to just switch off feelings of friendship and camadrie.

It sounds like you and I have similar tastes in fic :D.

I’m not really interested in Wincest either so depending on who else is interested we could either a) Avoid certain ships / topics if a dislike of them is common to everyone who displays interest in joining a fic reading group or b) If everyone who wants to join likes Wincest except us two then they can rec them and we can just bow out for that particular week? I think such logistics could probably be worked out once we’ve an idea of who all would be interested in a group read :) . what all pairings do you enjoy reading in fic? I tend to read more for the plot than romance/smut so I’m often pretty flexible re pairings if the plot intrigues me enough.

Thanks for all the great fic rec guys :) . I was thinking, how would people feel about trying to set up some sort of fic reading group? I’ve seen it happen on other forums. One person in the group could suggest a fic they’ve read before or want to read for the first time and the group then aim to read and discuss the fic within a week or two before moving on to the next?

I’ll check these out! I used to ship Destiel, but I stopped back when s9 aired. I don’t mind fics featuring the pairing though :)

I’m not a fan of Wincest. If the fic has a strong plot and it’s more referenced than a key part of the fic I can tolerate it, but if one of the main theme of the fic is the development of a romantic/sexual relationship between Sam and Dean no thanks lol. Also when I say AU I don’t mean it has to be totally different world to the show. I’ve enjoyed fics involving characters travelling back in time to change key events or a what if fic for example I read an interesting one where Sam never left Stanford with Dean in Pilot and it resulted in Dean Having to work closer with the likes of Bobby, Ellen etc.

Can anyone recommend some good fics? I’m in the mood for reading them. I tend to like - AUs - Long Fics - 100k plus but I’m open to shorter too of course. - Castiel involvement I’m not super picky and my only no no is fics that have Cas as the out and out bad guy.

Thanks for the recc :) . Although while I didn’t appreciate that particular line I’d say I haven’t actually watched enough that I’m super anti anybody at this point in time :). Each of the characters have been able to offer something I find interesting so far.

I know half the people who mentioned it were probably being sarcastic but what the heck here’s a list. Let me know if there’s anyone I missed or misaligned in your opinion. Good Guys High Tier • Sam and Dean Winchester (Powerwise they’re only human and should be low tier, but they’ve lead status plot plutonium) • Jack (the strongest on the side of good and presumably will one day be a match for Michael) • Potentially Chuck and Amara but MIA at present. Mid Tier • Castiel (A regular angel perhaps on the high end of regular, but no match for the High Tier characters and doesn’t get lead status plutonium) Low Tier • The Wayward Crew (Jody, Donna, Claire and Patience) • AU Bobby Singer • Mary Winchester Neutrals High Tier • Death / Billie: Although she seems to be leaning towards side of good. • Empty Keeper: Seems to be God like (at least within his own territory), but only interested in sleeping. Mid Tier • Rowena: Seems to be on the side of good at present due to her hatred of Lucifer, but not sure Id call her “good” just yet. Bad Guys High Tier • AU Michael (The strongest on the side of evil) • Asmodeus Mid Tier • Lucifer (Formerly high Tier and second to AU Michael, but since his grace extraction hes likely bumped down to here) • Anael (Lowend of this Tier and run of the mill angel) Low Tier • Mr Ketch • AU Kevin (Doesn’t seem to be evil evil himself but he’s assisting AU Michael)

I think we can agree to disagree on this. I’ll make sure to avoid referencing it if or when Felicity does something I disapprove of in future to avoid causing conflict.

Make a spin off with a) human Cas b) Max and c) a resurrected Alicia Bane or another original hunter character they come across. That’d be a fun show!

I wouldn’t say that rules it out. Back in season 5 Sam made the decision to be possessed in episode 21 and he was possessed by Lucifer for a grand total of 1 episode in 5x22. If they were going for Dean being possessed by our Michael they could easily have Dean approach Michael in the cage and be possessed in a handful of episodes too. Dean and our Michael already have history from back in s5 so they don’t need to build that up.

I rewatched the scene and she’s states the following “Did I mention it’s almost Christmas? Many of the suicide this time of year are due to sudden and unexpected jobliness” So either A) She’s making light of the topic of suicide. B) She is trying to guilt him into not firing her by raising the possibility of suicide being a result of firing someone. Either option is in pretty pair taste IMO. I dunno if the writers were going for quirky or what, but it just didn’t work for me at all.

I doubt the show would be that creative, or write it in a good way, but now I’m half imagining a world where Guck was the one stuck in the mark of Cain hahaha Ooh that’s another fun spec! Although Id say unfortunately it’ll be the most boring option and a generic pagan god MOTW.
