  1. Some great singers this season... and some great performers. It boggles my mind how teens can perform as if they're seasoned (much older)... I guess the coaching they get on the Voice is partly responsible. I think a lot depends on the song they choose to sing, not just how well they sing it.
  2. I thoroughly enjoyed tonight's episode for all the reasons mentioned - and way to go, Mattea! A bittersweet day for me in remembering my teenaged crush (Alex), his passing, and also hearing of a family member who passed away. Hard to see the clues with wet eyes, you know? Can't help but wonder if either Matt or Amy were sandbagging... I mean they're both brilliant, right? Might have been a "kind" gesture on someone's part (or they had too much fun at happy hour) to just not go for it... saving the attack for the game that counts. Just throwing it out there as a possibility. Nothing against Mattea re the sandbagging comment. Mattea rocks, intelligence-wise. I don't notice the quirks (or perhaps they don't annoy me) as I'm too impressed with the incredible data storage facility and retrieval process. Now, if Mattea slurps soup or clinks teeth on silverware, THAT would be irritating.
  3. Methinks the J! writers may consider a rethink! Are they attempting to get a 'most clever' award? Some of those clues were beyond normal weird. I hate it when I'm so excited to see an episode of a fave show and then am disappointed because it doesn't live up to my expectations. The energy level seemed super low today. I started to root for Megan (hope I have her name correct... the one in the middle) and then she flamed out. Ryan seemed out of sorts from how I remembered him... and the winner is to be congratulated for keeping calm and centred. JMO. There goes that lesson on expectations again. Grrr.
  4. I am here for the TOC! (Mr Bliss is home from the hospital and will be watching with me. Yay!) I'm not sure what I'm looking forward to most... the untournament or all your comments here. LOL
  5. My daughter met Swank in real life... said she's "wonderful" and authentic as a person. I do like her as an actor as she stirs something up in me... Agree about Big Sky. I had to stop watching it as it became utterly ridiculous. I'm enjoying Alaska Daily!
  6. I watch this for the music. Trace Atkins can sing me to sleep any night ;-)
  7. For those of you interested in Simu Liu, I just read a review of his book, "We Were Dreamers" - and I wish I knew how to link a photo of the book here. Sorry. "I couldn't put this book down. So well written. Absolutely fascinating memoir." (My name is Bliss and I'm a bookaholic. I'm always interested in hearing about books that are worthy.) For those of you who gave me cyber hugs above, thank you! 😘 Update: Hubby is standing, walking, and out of critical care. 12 fractures (9 broken ribs!) will take time to heal, but so very, very grateful he's on the mend.❤️
  8. I'll let you have him when I'm done with him, k? ;-)
  9. Watched J! - live - for the first time in a long time. I'm so happy that Ken is quick to respond and doesn't take e x t r a l o n g t o r e s p o n d. That is all.
  10. Took me a bit to find this thread... not sure why it isn't under the J! topic. I'm WAY behind in the regular show, mostly because I got out of the habit of watching*... and partly because I do not enjoy Mayim's hosting for one main reason: she hesitates too long before saying "correct" or something similar. So, I hesitated about watching this - but enjoyed it. (Although she still pauses too long for me!) SO happy Simu won. I think it was @shapeshifter who mentioned him being on Kim's Convenience. Most people LUV that show! His response to winning? Priceless. *just when I thought life was going to get back to something close to normal (my recovery from major surgery is excellent) and doing things like watching J! while eating dinner, yesterday, my husband fell off the roof and has a broken back (3 places), several broken ribs, brain bleed, collapsed lung, internal bleeding, and still waiting for the neurosurgeon's assessment... however, he can wiggle his toes (yay!🙏) and is in good spirits. All prayers are welcome!
  11. Tried to multi quote and I'm not sure if it worked. I'm such a techno dweeb. Muddying up this thread to say HUGE thanks to all of you, esp those who gave hugs! (Laughter and hugs are the best medicine IMO) I've always had this secret wish to meet some of the posters here in real life to tell you how important you are to me. I actually did that for some DWTS chat friends back in 2010 - we met in NYC and have been corresponding ever since. Internet buddies! I've had a year+ of pure hell - physically and emotionally - and I'm ecstatic that I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I had quite a few days when I didn't know if I would... it's been the biggest challenge of my life. Moral of the story: keep the faith! Soldier on! One day at a time! Follow your bliss! And if none of those work, swear a lot! LOL
  12. Hi Saber! So glad to see you back! I want to play... but I'm a little behind - actually, a lot behind. I'd love to take a raincheck and start playing once I'm caught up with the game. TMI, probably, but I had some major surgery in August and am still in recovery. Doing well, however, and had a very positive physio appointment today! (That's my excuse for being tardy here.) My prayers have been answered and I can now walk my dog again... haven't been able to for several months. Bottom line: don't count me in the contest. I'll ask for permission to play once I'm back in the saddle, so to speak. *hugs*
  13. Just saw the first episode. Liked some of it, esp the Canadian content. I'll give it a chance... for a bit.
  14. I look forward to the day when "adieu" is the word. It's my starting word as it gives me info on 4 vowels. If none of them are correct, I use horny as my second word. ;-)
  15. Have you tried Octordle yet? (It's double the Quordle.) My fave is Canuckle... literally, the Canadian version of Wordle, except it has Canadian flair (and is created by a family friend).
  16. I swear, Queen Latifah gets more beautiful with age... she's like a fine wine.
  17. Well done, Mattea. So proud of you and your enormous maturity - and your bright light. You are a living demonstration of Marianne Williamson's prose (spoken by Nelson Mandela, and please excuse my Reader's Digest version), "Who are you not to shine?... Your playing small doesn't serve the world... " Looking forward to the TOC this year! Hoping Matt, Amy and Mattea end up in a threesome (battle of brains). LOL
  18. I believe Mattea's "windfall" will be tax free in Canada. [The US may withhold an amount which she'll be able to get back after making an application (same as someone winning a jackpot in Las Vegas).]
  19. If I'm ever on J!, I'll never reveal it here... not until after I win a ton of cash. Tax free! LOL I'm happy for Mattea that she's doing so well - many of the Canuck comments I've heard or read vary from "she's so refreshing!" to "wow... so bright for a 23 yr old!". I honestly didn't notice her hands until I read about it here... and now I can't unsee them!! Yeah, she talks a lot, commentates unnecessarily, and I cannot stand nose hoop thingies (what happens when they blow their nose?!!) - but hey, she probably wouldn't like how I wear sandals when most people are still wearing boots. (I'm a barefooter.) Isn't it a sad commentary on our world that we need to be so judgmental of other people (I'm as guilty as anyone else) - their looks, clothing, tatts, jewelry, quirks, mannerisms, etc? Unless he/she/they are absolute perfection in every single aspect of their being... and of course, then they're criticiZed for being too perfect. What I enjoy most about Mattea is her vast knowledge of trivia, her speed, and that she doesn't jump all over the board. She tackles the categories methodically, as I would... probably boring to some. I learned while tramping a mountain in New Zealand that baby steps can get you just as far as giant strides.
  20. So... not a fan of the wonderful Payne Stewart, I take it? (If I knew how to post internet photos here, I would... there are several of Payne which are most definitely NOT boring. He was like the Met Gala for golf.) From a personal memory, I once played in an international golf tournament (we played nine holes in Canada and then 9 holes in USA... one of the most fun memories of my 20's) and I returned home without the awesome outfit I wore golfing - it was stolen while I was changing. Tip: don't throw your clothes over the door of a washroom stall while naked. You can't run after the thief! Dangit, that was one cute outfit! Oh... and then there was the midnight tournament, using "lit" balls... (and most of us players were also). Ahh... the good ol' days.
  21. Ditto that sentiment! I envy anyone being off the grid, @Clanstarling, if that's your experience. It's always refreshing!
  22. Every time I see this photo, I wonder WHY is the dress SO long that she has to pull it up to walk? Seriously? Is this a new trend? I really dislike any 'fad' that is silly (unpractical) - like not being able to walk FFS.
  23. I don't know how to post photos here... however, when I saw what Posh wore (Victoria Beckham), the silvery, satiny, lace-embossed 'slip' of a dress, I swear I used to own a nightgown EXACTLY like that. Many, many moons ago, when I had the body to wear satin and silk (now I wear flannel and fleece)!
