  1. Yeah, the main problems with this season stem from the airport bunching for every flight. There wouldn’t even be an alliance to begin with if the teams arrived at places and completed tasks at different times. You’re not going to wait 40 minutes for the next team to arrive to give them the answer. It’s different when they’re all there at the same time.
  2. But wasn’t that the whole point of the veggie ice cream, that it wasn’t being touted as health food? Her pitch was that, if you’re going to indulge in fatty good-tasting ice cream anyway, go for the one that also has vegetables in it.
  3. She was wearing a trans pride pin 🏳️‍⚧️ so clearly she’s not afraid of public representation. I am shocked that the returning champ did not get FJ which I thought was so stupidly easy! It was an instaget as soon as I saw the lyrics “Something’s coming.” The champ had gone straight for the theatre category her first time on the show and got 4/5 in the category so I have no idea how she missed something so easy as West Side Story! (eta: on my phone that emoji is a trans flag, I guess that doesn’t show up on the board here.)
  4. My DVR cut off right in the middle of that preview so the last image looked like Daymon was giving the guy serious side-eye. Same as I was doing. 😆 If the guy is for real, that’s a pitch I’ll be FFing through. “Let me... sob... tell you...sob...my sooper serious story...snotty sob...so you’ll feel sorry and give me money...” Nope, next!
  5. Except, because of the alliance, often not much really changed the placement of most of the teams this season either. Tasks that should have been tough and could have allowed those in the back to catch up were rendered moot by simply giving the answers to the other teams.
  6. 😶... I didn't know that. I remember older seasons where I thought they were shown going out to restaurants after the leg was over. I knew they had changed it to no longer be the strict 12 hour time frame, but I had no idea everyone was sequestered in a hotel room as soon as the leg was over.
  7. Yeah, I could not come up with the specific type of hat Minnie Pearl wore. She is way before my time but I’ve seen pictures of her. “What’s a floppy hat like that called? A sun hat? A garden hat? A boater? Oh- they just wanted straw hat. 🙄 👒”
  8. I knew nothing about what that clue was actually asking, I just thought “German city, -burg? Hamburg.” Then I thought maybe there were other German -burgs that fit the clue and Hamburg would be the obvious-but-wrong choice, so not sure if I would have rang in if I were on the show. Very pleased with the winner tonight! I always like when a player goes straight for the theatre clues.
  9. He didn’t care about her reputation, he thought the cops would think he was a racist if he said, “She brought home some random Black guy.” I stopped watching the show last season (or maybe two seasons ago?) because of Benson’s holier-than-thou attitude and how all the stories were the same (pretty white girl gets raped by powerful white man) so I do at least like that this one was a bit closer to the older classic episodes, but still we have the killer being the white guy who was angry the victim wouldn’t sleep with him. They almost had a woman be the killer but then changed their minds at the end. 🙄 I have never liked Cat in any episode. Can she please fuck off with her “slut shaming” nonsense? Lexi’s behavior should rightfully be shamed.
  10. De’Angelo: “This season sucked!” We’re all with you on that!! Truer words have never been spoken on this show. How depressing if this becomes the way the show ends for good.
  11. You could always simply not watch it.
  12. AKA “They decided to U-Turn us so automatically that makes it a bad decision.” It turned to be the correct choice for the NFL team to make, the only real reason Aparna didn’t like it is because it went against her. Her team sucked the entire game, they were always weak and in the back.
  13. Going back to the previous show’s FJ, the “supernatural” bit had me thinking ghosts so I went with Jacob Marley. It wasn’t a bad guess really, that book was also written mid 19th century! Never would have thought of Moby Dick in a million years.
  14. I couldn’t even concentrate on the story this episode, because I was too angry at how completely irresponsible I feel this season is being. I don’t know what the creators were thinking, but yeah great way to celebrate Christmas: having tons of strangers interacting in person indoors with not a mask in sight and then having a huge family gathering with people coming from all over. Why did they start this season explicitly about the pandemic and Bow seeing so much horror working in a hospital if they were then going to pretend it never happened? I don’t know when they filmed it, but this episode is really airing at the wrong time. They should have simply ignored it from the beginning. All I can see when watching now is how stupid every character is being and it’s a terrible image to portray.
  15. Aparna at the beginning of the episode: "From here on it's every team for themselves so we will feel no regret U-Turning anybody ahead." Aparna after someone else dared to use the U-Turn on her: "[To De'angelo] Fuck you!" constant bitching and whining about karma
  16. Aw sad TJ lost, he was really fun. I’m just glad the guy on the right didn’t win, his voice was so monotone.
  17. I thought they didn’t know where the other two teams were, just that Eshwar and Aparna was definitely behind them. I suppose they should have realized that no one was ahead of them since the U-Turn hadn’t been played, but Will and James already used their U-Turn this season so doesn’t that mean they couldn’t use it this time anyway? That’s how it’s worked in the past... They could have picked the Beard Bros, but then the Beards would have just U-Turned Eshwar and Aparna anyways.
  18. Wait so being engineers didn’t help Eshwar and Aparna make tiles? I hate teams that get all bitter & angry about being U-Turned. Actually yelling “Fuck you!” to other racers? So glad to see the last of them. Teams that get all butthurt about being U-Turned can piss off. It’s a RAAAAACE! Despite the stupid alliance. Congrats on behaving like a spoiled toddler having a tantrum.
  19. I got FJ immediately but then started second guessing myself since I read “syllable” and my brain interpreted it as “word” and started thinking “How is om a combination of many sounds? It must be a longer word...” 🙄
  20. Yes. This. The alliance was a great thing for the teams in it, because it worked and they are all now in the top five. So for the racers, an alliance does make sense. It just makes the show completely boring to watch. It’s exactly like the “suggestion” someone made to give the racers cell phones and GPS so they can get around without getting lost. Sure, that would make it much easier for the racers, but would suck to watch for the audience. I really hope that if they do come back TPTB add in some kind of penalties for outright giving answers to others teams. Was anyone else thinking there was going to be a penalty for Hung and Chee switching Detours? I know they have always been able to switch in the past but the clue seemed to make such a big deal out of picking “This” or “That” without actually giving them any info on what they were choosing that I thought there would be consequences for switching. Otherwise what was the point of picking a Detour with no info if as soon as you got there you could switch if it didn’t sound good? And please stop with all the “OMG MEGA LEG!!!” nonsense. How was this leg any different from all the many legs they have run in previous seasons where teams get to the mat only to find out “You’re still racing! Here is your next clue!” Those legs seem much harder to me since the teams don’t expect it to continue. This time they knew it would be longer so, meh. They didn’t even have to travel anywhere else which they have in previous double legs so this one honestly seemed pretty lame and really easy. I see why this season was shelved for so long. I imagine they probably wouldn’t have even chosen to air it at all and would have just continued filming new ones had the pandemic not forced their hand and this was what they were stuck with.
  21. Calling Leo's response "mocking" is kind of a strange interpretation. I just re-watched the scene. Will & James started to give an obviously fake explanation as if they didn't target Leo & Alana specifically but just randomly chose them. They started to say, "We thought that we were la- of the four remaining teams-" and then Will interrupted their bullshit and said "We thought you U-turned us!" Literally a 5-second exchange. If that is why Will & James dislike them, then I have even less respect for them than I did before, if that is even possible. Whiny assholes.
  22. Well that basically amounts to the same thing though. Do an extra task that takes time or have time added to your check in arrival, pretty much the same. They’ve played around with the penalties for the NEL in the past. In fact I think one season they did get a time penalty where unless they won the following leg they would have to wait out a 30-minute (or maybe an hour?) penalty. I think it was the one with the “Back Pack” alliance, and one of the teams let them win to avoid the penalty.
  23. No, the clue clearly did not say to look for the letters, since everyone who went (and wasn’t given the answer ahead of time) had no idea what the judge was talking about when she said to unscramble the letters. They were all “...letters?”
  24. I wonder if the Beard Bros had gotten that Speed Bump if they actually would have been made to shave (and if they would have done it!) I think I remember a task in a previous season where couple had to glue stuff to each other’s faces and someone with a beard had to shave it.
  25. Yeah, I don’t know why there wasn’t. The clue clearly said “park in front of the hotel.” They didn’t park in front of the hotel. 🤔
