  1. They've gone down the "Raj wants an arranged marriage" route before - and it was pretty funny how it fell apart. If they're going to recycle their own plots I hope they do it differently this time and the arrangement actually works.
  2. I think this expresses Amy with Sheldon perfectly. Just because you know someone typically behaves in a certain way doesn't mean you have to accept it and like it in every circumstance. I know my husband is one of those people who is always going to be late. I love him but I hate this about him and I will spend the rest of our lives together either craftily trying to trick him into being on time (or early!) or accept with my usual sweet good grace that he is late again or blowing up and saying something I may regret later but certainly enjoyed expressing at the time! This is what Amy will have to do with Sheldon. She loves him and she will do it. Loving him does not have to mean not caring when he's an ass!!
  3. I can accept, reluctantly, that they can say whatever they want as a back story for Penny or any of the characters for that matter but what kills me is when they seem to be trying to retcon the character as we've seen her over the course of almost 12 years. They've shown that Leonard defers to Penny a lot (especially before they married) because he wants sex. And in Chuck Lorre land that's just hilarious. But it was never because he was being bullied by her! I hope they don't go down this particular road again.
  4. I love that Sheldon genuinely believes this. It's just so Sheldony of him :)!
  5. Penny and Amy have always been my favourite characters and it drives me crazy the way they mess with Penny. It's like they don't know what to do with her so they've decided to turn her into almost every other successful woman Lorre has every portrayed (bitchy). And yet that's not entirely true - Penny in the Shamy wedding was the Penny we are all used to seeing - sweet, caring, happy for her friends and willing to do anything for them. I totally do not get what they're doing. At all. Anyway I will reserve judgement on this episode as I haven't seen it yet and I've learned that my opinion ends up rarely being majority rule! So I am cautiously optimistic that it's not going to be as bad as I'm expecting!
  6. What bugs me is that some quotes say a main character while other quotes say a significant character. IMO that's not the same thing at all. I don't want anyone getting killed off but I especially don't want them getting viewers by saying a main character is going to die when they have no intention of doing that.
  7. There shall be EGOTs. John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice all entered the rarefied and somewhat random group of entertainers who have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award on Sunday night. Their triumph came when NBC’s “Jesus Christ Superstar Live In Concert” won five awards at the Creative Arts Emmys, including best live variety special. With their victories, the three men join 12 other EGOT winners including Audrey Hepburn, Whoopi Goldberg and Mel Brooks. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/09/09/arts/television/creative-arts-emmys.html
  8. Funny though some of these suggestions are I really hope they don't do anything like that. Just wrap things up with a happy ending for everyone and let us leave the gang with a smile on our faces.
  9. Everyone needs some space that's just for them now and then. It's one reason I was glad when I was raising my kids that we were able to live in a house where they could have their own rooms. If the house is big enough for a "man cave" and also for a private room for mom it wouldn't bother me quite so much as the reality I see played out most of the time which is Dad gets the man cave because Mom has the kitchen and the laundry room!
  10. With regard to "man caves" I always roll my eyes. I totally get anyone needing some private or semi-private space to set up a hobby or pursue an interest of some kind - but that applies to women just as much as it does to men. What HHers seems to mean by a man cave is this totally private area where the guy can play computer games or watch sports on a big screen TV without wifey or the kiddies intruding on his specialness. Ugh.
  11. I agree with your point here and it's one thing I like about BBT (and a big thing a lot of people don't like if you go by the comments here over the years) but even with that I don't know if going on much longer makes sense. Lots of shows have let their characters grow and change - obviously especially shows with kids in the cast - that doesn't mean the shows stayed good or got better at the years went on. I do agree with CherryAmes that this last season was very strong but does that mean I want it to go on forever? Nope!
  12. For me the decision not to watch the new Roseanne show was made when she went on Twitter and was attacking a young survivor of the Parkland shooting. She wasn't joking (not that the 'just joking' defense would have been acceptable) and it was the last straw for me. A lot of people though gave her a huge benefit of the doubt and gave her and her show a chance. She blew it. And she has no one to blame but herself.
  13. A friend of mine just posted some before and after pictures of her kitchen renovation. To be honest I liked the original kitchen so much more than the new one. It's like she took on board every design trend that the shows have been pushing and did them all. It doesn't look awful or anything but she took a classic kitchen and turned it into, IMO anyway, a kitchen that is going to look very dated in just a few years.
  14. But it's all the fault of Ambien and the stress of success. Pity the poor woman! Does she ever take any real personal responsibility for any of the terrible things she has said about other people?
  15. As I understand they've committed for another 10 episodes (I may not have this right) if that's the case though If the show clicks, great, if not, I hope they resolve a few things and set the Connors on the path to at least a modicum of happiness.
  16. I've long since stopped second guessing what direction writers will take but IMO I don't think they have much choice but to kill off the character. Divorce makes no sense as Roseanne would still have contact with the family and writing it so she's just continually off-screen would get pretty tedious after awhile. It's how they choose to handle it that may make or break the show. I just hope they don't go the Lorre route and have her killed off while doing something gross or despicable. Give the character of Roseanne a decent burial if nothing else. Whatever Roseanne Barr the person has done (and I make no defense of her at all) many of us grew up with the character and grew to love her, warts and all.
  17. Agreed. I really dislike this trend of giving girls names more typically given to boy. I've had people defend it to me as being all about equality and making things gender neutral but until we start calling boys Barbara or Mary Jane I'm not buying it! Anyway on topic the reason I didn't like the name Harris is because I disliked the drama around her birth and I really disliked the way suddenly it's all the women in the family being so important and yada yada. If Darlene had ever been proud of being part Harris before I don't remember it even being mentioned!
  18. I can understand this if they live someplace really cool like London and they know that family and friends are likely to come visit and either stay with them or hang out with them. But even with that how often is that going to happen? And do people who live in a regular house in a neighbourhood near most of their friends and family really entertain every week, let alone multiple times a week? On HHs they do! I love when they go into a kitchen and have to say "I can see myself entertaining here". Wow, can't wait to party at your house so I can watch you cut up sweet peppers as we sit at your island. On a stool. For hours.
  19. It was Robert and I agree that this episode shows the other Barones at their intrusive worst!
  20. There is a reality show in the making here! Anyway I think since she refuses to concede that she is bigoted she could always take the drugs or drink or overwork approach and go away for a rest cure.
  21. Considering the way she lashed out and played the blame game I am not thinking she was the least bit sincere. If she really is sorry, or at least wants everyone to think she is, then she'd be better off going the "I am entering rehab to work on my demons" route.
  22. I think though part of the reason Sara G felt she needed to speak out is because she's a big reason why there was a reboot in the first place and also she has a very public voice on another show where there is no way this subject was not going to come up. The others could choose to speak out or not as they saw fit. I don't know if that really applies to Sara Gilbert considering what her day job is.
  23. That may be true but she is Melissa Gilbert's sister so it's not like she was a regular kid who got lucky.
  24. This was an aspect of the show that I thought was well done. Roseanne Conner was not the kind of person who should have been working in any kind of customer service job. The factory job at Wellman's was perfect for her. She could wisecrack with her co-workers but she didn't have to be nice to anyone just because that was part of the job. It made sense though that someone without any real job skills was going to end up working in a fast food place or a restaurant or as the shampoo girl at the local beauty salon. What never made sense was that someone with Roseanne's work ethic ever thought she could run her own business! That said one of the diner episodes I really liked was the one with Darlene being an ass about them serving meat and Roseanne coming down on her hard about how this was her livelihood and Darlene needed to respect that. I am not remembering the episode well but I think Darlene did something really stupid like chalking dead bodies around the restaurant or something like that. Anyway completely disregarding that if her mother's restaurant went out of business she suffers too.
