  1. Remember c5 Ebony? The one they gave the braids? I have seen a lot of models, and not once have I seen any with long braids like that. It didn't help that she was one of the more, er, unattractive girls that year, and the braids just made it worse.
  2. My favorite from Malvo: "Some roads you shouldn't go down. Because maps used to say 'there be dragons here.' Now they don't, but that don't mean the dragons aren't there."
  3. That, or the survivors are slowly turning and just haven't developed the tongue yet, but are getting the bloodlust. The appendage in question reminds me of the Aswang from Filipino folklore. Man, the Commodore was working overtime in this episode to try and steal scenes from Corey Stoll. It looked different in each one... while it is applied well, whoever is wrangling it isn't doing a consistent job.
  4. I was a little dubious about a second season with a different cast, but this news makes me extremely excited--brilliant idea, going back to Lou's case. Now I can't wait for season 2!
  5. Corey Stoll's face is so unsuited to The Commodore. WHY, show producers? He's a good looking bald man. Just let him be a good looking bald man!
  6. I don't really see Luca as playing up his looks at all... he just comes out in an oxford shirt and twill pants and does his thing. Lenny? He obviously knows he's not physically attractive, so he plays that up like a comedian, a la Chris Farley. I don't see it as much different than Loreal with her Suicide Girls wardrobe and kitchy slang-speak. I didn't find Sarah's comparison to be accurate at all.
  7. Personally, I'm having a hard time taking anyone seriously who goes by "Eph." It sounds awful, and jarring. "Hey EPH." Ew.
  8. I'm really glad I passed on Under the Gunn. I love Tim, but I didn't want too much Tim to spoil him for me. I just want a one day shopping trip with him--unlimited budget, NYC, and him telling me what I should and should not wear. I like my fashion sense, but I still think it'd be a hoot to get Tim's advice.
  9. I was a faithful viewer of Emeril Live! and he always talked about being from MA, as well as his music aspirations, his Portuguese heritage, and his time with Paul Prudhomme. I don't remember him ever trying to sell that NO was his home town, but rather he was a transplant and had adopted it as home. I'd agree that Christopher's phrasing was a bit disingenous, although I don't necessarily think it was intentionally misleading. Regarding Christopher, though, he was never going to win this show because he can't talk on camera effectively. While most "cooking shows" would make me angry by sending the best cook home, I know that FNS isn't looking for the best cook--they're looking for the best host/cook combo (now with more emphasis on the "host" part!). In this group, it looks to me like that'll be one of Nicole, Emma, Lenny, or Loreal, because the rest are just proving to be cannon fodder.
  10. I voted for Amanda. Why would Alexander want to come back after how he whined about the judging at the reunion? No thanks. And Ken is Ken, so... NOPE. I laughed so hard when I first read "The Mitchell Perry." Is there a precedent for this among designers, or have we just already identified the biggest d-bag of the season?
  11. They say it at the end of this week's episode in the "preview" for next week.
  12. Either that, or they blindfolded them, because you can see those coasters pretty long before you actually get to the park.
  13. I couldn't help but giggle after Loreal went for "butcher babe." Because And . (Both of those are marginally NSFW because, well, questionably adorned boobs.) Not sure that's the demographic Food Network are targeting, but oooookay...
  14. Stefan vs. CJ just has blowout written all over it, but then I'm not a fan of CJ, so... Also, the Kristen/Stephanie match is impossible. I really like them both, so I'll just root for both and be happy/bummed no matter what. Kevin! Yay!
  15. I think we reached wacky critical mass last season, because they did stupid videos then, too (remember Damaris with the two guys I can't remember doing a "movie trailer," and it was all sorts of awkward?). Now it's all downhill.
  16. To me, the girl who's playing Catwoman looks like she could be Michelle Pfeiffer as a kid. Great casting with that one.
  17. I think the "Malvo went after Greta" thing is when Malvo followed Gus home and had the confrontation with the neighborhood watch guy. Malvo easily found out where Gus lived before, and he didn't want to put his whole family in danger by letting Malvo live.
  18. Normally, I would have been all over the writers for having a man be so insistent that his wife stay out of the fray, but in this case Gus was right, even if he was thinking about the wrong child. Molly's job will always put her in danger, but in this case their baby was in direct danger as well, and she should have stayed behind.
  19. Personally, I loved that Lester met his end very nearly literally swallowed up by his own cowardice. He had run as far as he could... his coward's hubris and self preservation instict had taken him as far as possible... and it ate him up. I mean, I LOVED it. I also liked that Gus is the one who took Malvo down. In this episode, you have Molly validated for a whole season's worth of being the only person in the room with a clue, and then Gus taking down Malvo driven by courage he could only get from the idea that something bad might happen to Greta and, more importantly, Molly. Molly is both recognized for the rock star she is, and truly loved by the man she married after years of seemingly thinking she'd never get that kind of happiness. To me, it's a win-win for Molly all the way around. Also, it's been said before that someone could only take down Malvo if he wasn't expecting it. He would expect the police, he would expect Lester... he wouldn't expect Gus. He wrote Gus off as a coward already, someone who wouldn't try to do what really needed to be done. And how cute was Lou? I loved Keith Carradine in this episode. Gus: "Protect our girl." Lou, with a steely, determined look and a swig of coffee: "Oh, I mean to." And he meant it. Just LOVED that. Overall, I was very satisfied with how things ended (despite being bummed about Budge and Pepper).
  20. One of my favorite movies is 28 Days Later, so when I saw the ads for the show, with Rick in the abandoned hospital, I labeled it a ripoff and decided I must watch in order to fume and snark. Little did I know I'd get hooked, and not long after start reading the comics, too.
  21. Yep. I was on the fence about watching this, but if Noah's back in, so am I.
  22. Hey Tara, I just read your write-up--no odds on Gus?
  23. Another little Coen Brothers shout out I noticed--Root's character called Malvo "friendo."
  24. I honestly don't think he was as upset about his wife as he was about having confirmation that Malvo was in town and looking to kill him. Freaking Lester. The minute he sent her into that office I wanted to reach through the screen and slap him silly. I was also afraid Lou was going to die, and was relieved when Malvo left. I was surprised, though, when Lou just labeled him as a random nut, rather than knowing something sinister was up. That said, at least he didn't tell him where Lester lived... he was smart enough to not go there. And YAY! for Molly validation. She's the only one who has known what was going on, so it's nice to see someone other than her family finally realize it.
  25. I love this, and I loved when it happened to Molly. I also get the rage tears, and it sucks, because it makes people assume you are a weak girly girl. But really... it's just how the rage comes out! Like it's so strong it takes liquid form and forces its way from the body! I loved this episode. At first the time jump was a little jarring, but when Gus walked up to that house (!!!) I found myself hoping that Molly was inside. Her being Marge Gunderson-levels of pregnant was just a bonus.
