  1. I must have missed that one. I do remember him being on the 90s version of "Superboy" and "Lois & Clark" in which that show's "Jimmy Olson" was exposed to an aging ray - and Jack Larson played his older self! I thought it was a great way to come full circle.
  2. I'm surprised Bill and his management hadn't sued them - then again, a name change might be just the thing.
  3. Or the fact they can send people to outer space but don't have the technology to deal with the population problem on Earth (better ways to build housing, grow food, etc.). Even the film version didn't think things out very well on this front.
  4. According to the Wiki entry of the film, the character was supposed to be 37 years old. IRL, Matthew Perry was born in 1969 and was about 40 when he made the film. My problem with that film was more about Perry's character saying no to the Big Leaguers who were courting him. He could have still gone on with his plans and had the money to support his baby mama. Heaven knows a lot of current college and NBA players do that now. If he wasn't going to be a basketball star, not being courted by scouts who saw him as one of the next big players, then it would have made sense for him to alter his plans. Even then, plenty of people manage to get their education and/or better opportunities despite having a family too soon. It depends on many factors and it's a harder road, but definitely doable.
  5. I had that happen years ago when I worked in medical billing. I worked "soft collections". That means I was the one who gently would call and persuade patients to send a little something to pay their bills - or at the very least straighten things out with the insurance companies. I was quite good at it too! Even if the patient could pay 5-10 bucks a week was fine - they were paying down their debt and it didn't have to be anything unreasonable for their modest budgets. Our supervisors bragged that if we brought in "X" amount of money at the end of the month we'd get a reward. Sure enough I was rewarded - with a 10 dollar gift card at the local grocery store. They also promised that if everyone at the office brought in "XX" amount of money that month, we'd all have dinner at Lawry's. Yay? I'm all for steak but prefer to eat with friends and family, not most co-workers. This is also the place in which we were spied upon by the supervisor's toadie (since both were female - toad-ette would be more appropriate). She used to hover around our break room hoping for some dirt. We all knew she was there - and began having our breaks in the break room downstairs.
  6. Natalie Wood would have been perfect!!!
  7. I was hoping she'd dump her unsupportive boyfriend for the character played by Simon Baker. There was no reason for her to continue with her circle of friends either, even after she'd move on from the magazine.
  8. You and this guy have a lot in common.
  9. After having watched the clip - My opinion doesn't change much. Kennedy was obviously looking to get on TV so America can see him and potentially get to know him (given what communications were at that time). However, he was still quite serious; he remained dignified and talked about how serious the role of President was. He wasn't participating in a sketch or being jokey (except perhaps for the Indian bit, but I take that as a joke he would have said in any casual conversation). I haven't seen the clips with Nixon and Agnew but I'm guessing they didn't participate in sketches either. I have yet to see this. Not that I think traditional news reporters are much better. However, I don't go to late night talk shows for info about politicians and/or news. I thank the internet for the increased outlets.
  10. I agree that trailers these days seem to give too much away and/or show the best parts of a film ("Lucy", anyone?). If one does end up seeing them, disappointment follows. Half the time I see them, I feel like I've seen the film and can save a buck (or twenty). My hunches are often confirmed when the film turns up on cable and I'm bored silly or when the film dies at the box office opening week. ITA. It seems studios want "star power" even if the actor will be unseen and essentially voicing themselves, rather than a character. Why was George Clooney in the "Mr. Fox" film? Matt Damon and Drew Barrymore in Titan A.E. (although I liked the film and think it deserved better)? Why was Will Smith doing any voice work? Justin Timberlake I might give a pass - he did a great job voicing Boo Boo in the Yogi Bear film. Don Messick would have been impressed. There are so many great VAs on current animated shows today, and they often get overlooked for big screen projects.
  11. Funny you should mention this movie. I remember seeing it in theatres back in the day and here's a surprising reaction from the audience at the time: The whole time everyone is laughing at Gene Wilder's antics. The moment between him and his fantasy girl gets closer and closer - I got the feeling that people were rooting for him to succeed. They At the very moment of the reveal, I heard loud boos from the audience! They were mad that but not mad at Gene for his lusting after someone else!
  12. That's valid. I had a guy do that to me too - and he gained about 100 pounds between the time the photo was taken and meeting me! To me it's misrepresenting yourself. Maybe potential matches would be turned off by his age/weight/receding hairline but maybe someone else might not have cared. He shouldn't have done that. At least he admits he is working too hard to impress you - in a way that's good to admit it. It's nerve wracking for some people and they really want the other person to like them. Nothing wrong with this - it was only a meet up anyway, right? If you trust him and decide to continue seeing him, make sure he comes to pick you up (or meet up with you) where it's convenient for you.
  13. That's assault! I'd call the cops and have it written up as a criminal complaint. Stuff like this can't be rationalized away as a "bad day". Perhaps also consider a lawsuit against the guy and/or the company. Chat with a lawyer ASAP! This kind of behavior will only continue otherwise.
  14. That may be because of this twitter message from Trump: They say there are no coincidences in Hollywood or politics. Personally, from what I saw of the reflection bit, I thought it was funny - Trump isn't afraid to make fun of himself and takes a joke pretty well. As a rule, I'm against politicians/presidential candidates appearing on TV talk shows like this. I think it panders to the lowest common denominator and makes the office appear that much cheaper. Correct me if I'm wrong but Bill Clinton (and his sax) was the beginning of this trend.
  15. Seriously, why sweat something so small? I'd rather have blessings from someone than a curse any day. Pretend it came from whatever deity you prefer, but I don't get offended when people say it to me.
  16. Thanks KnoxForPres! For me it was a complete 180 turn. I eat the prepared meals 5 days a week (my work meals) and try to eat right on weekends. I rarely eat starches (I have heard of people having issues with gluten even if they don't have Celiac's Disease) and avoid fast food (aka, anything that comes in a box). I also don't each much fruit either - to avoid sugar. It goes without saying that I drink water or seltzer instead of soda (then again, I rarely drank soda anyway, juice was often my problem). Admittedly, some of my issues were emotional - I really had a huge weight gain 4 years ago after my mom died. I tried to think if she could see me now, so unhappy, what would she say? Obviously, she wouldn't want me to be this way - then I had to convince myself I didn't want to be this way either. I've been reading up on supplement use (not just for weight loss, but for other potential issues), and for a sluggish thyroid, three herbs came up: Solaray brand Yerba Mate - 500mg/per 100lbs of body weight Solaray brand Bladderwrack - 580 mg per 50lbs of body weight Solaray Licorice Root - 450mg/per 50lbs of body weight I bought the first edition of the book and it did work wonders for me. Best thing is that the author (a biochemist) isn't afraid to name names. Many other supplement books I'd read often mention using an herb for a specific issue but never specify which brand (since so many brands vary in quality). Not every herb supplement comes from the same manufacturer.
  17. Colin Farrell should have been cast as Jack Dawson in Titanic. To me, Leonardo DiCaprio seemed too young to pull off the role - despite the smash the film became. I remember some of Leo's detractors referred to him as "fetus head" for some time due to his boyish looks.
  18. Give us the work address and we'll be happy to send one! Ditto on not looking any of this up on your work computer - or any computer that may be issued to you (like a laptop or tablet) from them. If they get suspicious, you don't want them to order you to turn them over for them to search (which they can legally do since it's their property). I left a poop link on the previous page. Send. The. Poop.!!
  19. That's the point - I don't feel any safer. If anything it gives a false sense of security. True, I tend to feel somewhat secure because I live in what is considered a nice neighborhood, etc. but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be aware of our surroundings because something can come out of nowhere and your security ends up shattered because, "it couldn't happen here". What happens at the airport doesn't make me feel any safer either - mostly because IMO the TSA is window dressing. My mother - who was a double amputee and confined to a wheelchair and recovering from a stroke was ALWAYS singled out for "closer inspection". Never mind the real threats to security, my 70 year old infirmed mother was the apparent terrorist. If you've ever noticed on flights in which some issue does occur (usually by some angry drunk) it's the other passengers who take care of business (often using a belt or duct tape to confine them until they land). That person could be a legit concealed weapons holder and could end up saving lives if you-know-what hits the fan. That person isn't the threat.
  20. The minimum wage earner who isn't used to being questioned may not know that. If I get thrown out - then I won't bother going to them again. No love lost there. Exactly! That's just what this whole thing is. If I really wanted to shoot up a theatre, I could carry a concealed weapon in all sorts of places on my person. If I was carrying a purse (too obvious) that was searched, I could have as many as 3 different weapons that can get through. That's not including other weapons like knives or a blackjack or a slapper. Bad guys don't typically follow the rules - hence the referral.
  21. I've been really putting some effort into my weight loss this time. Because I used to eat on the run a lot (in part due to working odd hours), I went with prepared meals. I used Metabolic Meals and they're pretty good. They're a bit expensive but so far it's worth it. I am always eating the right food in the right amounts and they're prepared to help speed up the metabolism so you have to eat the meals in the prescribed order. I'm also taking supplements - although I was taking several of them before I began this latest eating plan. I also take a drink of apple cider vinegar 2-3 times daily, which helps in many different ways. I bought some exercise DVDs but I hadn't really used them - I think it's time I busted them out more regularly. So far in 6 weeks I lost 30 pounds!
  22. Raw milk is awesome! I just wish it would become legal in my state (I have to drove all the way to ST. George Utah if I want any). My pet peeve is how local politicians always manage to prevent it from becoming legal (claiming it's dangerous) yet they have no problem raising my taxes!! It depends on what your sister did and if it's worth sending the letter. If she's dangerous and being in contact with her is destructive, then you could take the risk (be aware relatives may take her side and turn on you). If it's just peevish things, then it's better to write the letter to yourself then shred it.
  23. It did, but I still maintain the finale did so well because many longtime viewers like myself were hoping Prue would have made a post mortum visit. She didn't but it was still fun to see Big Chris and Wyatt again. Damn, TPTB really screwed up not spinning them off.
  24. My niece and I went to the movies about 3 weeks ago and were surprised that they asked to search her bag (I wasn't carrying one). It wasn't until we got home we heard on the news that this was going to be a policy with Regal. Personally I think it's stupid. A better security measure would be to take down the "gun free zone" signs if it's a insane gunman they're worried about. If I had been carrying my purse, I would have asked about their warrant to look inside. Yeah, I can be a pill sometimes, but I refuse to get in the habit of having my bags searched wherever I go - especially a movie theatre. It's bad enough to deal with that sort of thing at the airport. They're not cops and it's not really about security anyway. I rarely go to the movies as it is, and this is just another reason not to bother.
