  1. Ditto! The producers made it clear Julie and Danial met at Miyagi’s funeral so it wouldn’t be a stretch. I’d like to think the character became a Veteranarian or wildlife rehabilitator in keeping with her role in helping the eagle in the film. Plus Daniel will need someone to help revive the dojo.
  2. Jon Hurwitz has tweeted that there will be a death in Season three! I'm betting it'll be Kreese! True. But it's too soon. I'm sure that will be the endgame in upcoming seasons. Season 4 or 5 most likely.
  3. I'll always remember Little Richard not just for his contributions to Rock & Roll, but his infamous appearance on the 1988 Grammy Awards, in which he claimed HE won the Best New Artist Award (he was kidding of course but it was funny to see him take control of the show for a minute).
  4. THIS!!! I have seen so many shows over the years in which someone wants so badly to go to a concert or other event only to give the (expensive and hard to get) tickets to someone else for very little reason!!! I remember this episode and it bugged me too!
  5. As a local media person in LV who's been following the story, you're correct. After the incident with Manticore, Roy was never really the same again and had bouts with pneumonia over the years. Personally, I wouldn't attribute corona to his death, but an already failing immune system. The common cold could have killed him.
  6. Just as I predicted, they're making plans to bring everyone back to the office. They're rearranging desk space (removing some to create "distance"). Probably will start seeing people drag themselves in the building in about 2-3 weeks. The only thing I'll miss when this is over is the light traffic and easy parking!
  7. I've just started reading "The Virginian" by Owen Wister (1902). A golden oldie to be sure! I'd seen one of the silent movies based on it, and I'd seen reruns of the TV version (which strays FAR from the novel). I was curious and asked my uncle if he would send me his copy, which I remember seeing on his bookshelf since childhood. From what my uncle tells me, this book was the first to depict the 19th century west with more realism compared to the dime novels that preceded it, and paved the way for writers like Zane Gray and Louis L'Amour among others.
  8. What a surprise when I tune into one of my favorite Youtubers ! He came up with a Top 10 list of Feel Good Movies For A Feeling Bad Time!! He brought up a couple I hadn't considered!
  9. Well, I'm in a good mood! On my way to work last night I spotted a new billboard which caught my attention. It had a fist painted to look like the flag of NV, and these words: Let's Go Back To Work! Call Your Representative! It's likely it wasn't added to the board (it's an electronic billboard where the ads rotate) until late yesterday afternoon or possibly a few hours before I saw it. No one else mentioned it yet. The minute I got in, I sent an email to the producer and she was VERY interested! I gave her the relevant details and we sent a photog to film it. We didn't report on it for the AM show but it just might turn up for the afternoon or evening show! I got a few kudos for catching it so early! It fits in with the reopening stories we've been running.
  10. So sorry Spartan Girl! I'm surprised they did that so late in the game - and hopefully things expecting to reopen by Memorial Day weekend. Wouldn't there be a budget that prevents cuts in a given year? Fortunately, I'm still employed but for about 4 months we're going to get a pay cut. May -September.
  11. I’m always reminded of that joke Drew Carey used to tell about HS reunions: you get the invitation in the mail and realize you have 6 months to make something of yourself. [rolls dice] C’mon 7!!!
  12. Peppermint essential oil is good to keep ants away and make the house smell nice. Although if you have pets (cats especially) it could be an issue. This site has other essential oils which can be use for the purpose.
  13. Seems we're closer to a "Columbo" reboot. I'm not crazy about that if only because Peter Falk made the character his own, but Mark Ruffalo could pull it off. I do NOT however like the idea of a Ms. Columbo if Natasha Lyonne got the part. If they want a doddering female detective who's smarter than she looks, then create something different, not make her a female Columbo in an alt universe. Better still, just create something original! PLEASE!
  14. I like going back to classic films - they tend to be lighter and more escapist in tone and considering the times, it's definitely the prescription for many. TCM has two great musicals on tap this morning/early afternoon: Mame (1958) and Singing' In The Rain (1952). Mame will air 3:30PM EST, while SITR will air right after at 6PM EST. Other recommendations: One of my faves is My Favorite Year (1982). Peter O'Toole as a Errol Flynn-esque Hollywood star who needs to make a comeback by appearing on a 1950s comedy show. Mark Linn Baker plays his Jiminy Cricket (sober buddy). Great film from start to finish! I've always loved Abbott & Costello films, so I recommend these: Buck Privates - Guess who end up in the army? In The Navy - What's good enough for the army... Hold That Ghost - fun murder mystery! Ride 'Em Cowboy! (where else can you see Ella Fitzgerald sing "A Tiskit, A Tasket" while on a bus? ) It Ain't Hay - Loosely based on a Damon Runyon story, Bud & Lou borrow a racehorse to help out a NYC Carriage driver and his daughter. Buck Privates Come Home - sequel to first film, with the guys coming home from the war with an orphan in tow. The Naughty Nineties - set at the turn of the last century, their famous comedy routine, "Who's on First?" is featured. I'll think of a few more gems later.
  15. RE: The subject of spoilers: I tend to look up spoilers and/or summaries of various films (especially if they're lauded by critics and the media at large) to make sure if I want to see them at a theater or not. Chances are, I hate the story and the ending and would have thrown popcorn at the screen if I hadn't checked ahead of time what the spoilers revealed. I know it comes across as finding out what the Christmas gift was and re-wrapping it, but considering how much movies disappoint me these days, I'd rather not waste my time or money.
  16. There are some movies I'd love to see remade but I just don't trust the current Hollywood climate to do it justice! Ideally, I'd like to see a movie series based on Jean Auel's Earth Children series (beginning with Clan of the Cave Bear) and see Ayla grow from an adoptee of Neanderthals to learning how to survive on her own, meeting her own people (Cro Magnon), as she comes into her own. There was supposed to be a TV series based on the books (with Ron Howard as one of the EPs) but after dropping a trailer several years back, nothing happened. I don't know why. I also wouldn't mind seeing another update of One Million Years BC (originally made in 1940 then remade into the better known version in 1966). I do insist the dinos be on the level of what we got in the original Jurassic Park, as crappy CGI would only ruin the aesthetic. You could get a great popcorn film with this!! I wouldn't mind a big screen adaptation of a couple of short lived TV shows that had promise: Automan and Street Hawk. Automan in particular considering how far computer technology has come. I also definitely want to see a reboot of Green Hornet (which was botched by Seth Rogan back in 2011).
  17. Any small business owners here who got screwed by the SBA loan program? Seems they ran out of money pretty fast, not to mention how many restrictions prevented owners from getting the loans they needed.
  18. Damn! Funny thing is, I had him of all people on the brain these last few days. Don't know how or why. I always liked him as an actor! He could be a jerk or a teddy bear, he knew how to bring it.
  19. Jon Hurwitz's twitter page has him posting that it will be just "weeks" before the new season debuts, but no specific date yet. He also posted that Terry Silver was one of his favorite characters. Most fans are suspecting that this is confirmation that Thomas Ian Griffith will make an appearance this season. I suspect that each season will end on an appearance cliffhanger - and that Terry Silver will appear at the end of Season 3 just like Season 1 ended with Kreese's appearance and Season 2 ended with Ali's FB invite on Johnny's phone. I can see a scenario in which Kreese dies and Silver appears to get revenge on those who he thinks is responsible for it. Meanwhile, Hayden Schlossberg has revealed on his twitter page that Tory will be in juvie briefly but will be let go. He adds we'll find out why in the show. It's hinted that charges will be dropped due to Sam showing mercy towards her after the fight. We;ll find out soon enough.
  20. I'm doing OK still going to the office (at least I get out of my house once in a while), but more people, including my edit partner have been taking advantage of working from home. Funny though, since there are times the producers HAVE to come in occasionally (one admitted t me, she prefers to be in the thick of the action). They're really trying to push me out the door as well. Normally, it sounds great but I like my work and personal life separated and I worry if stuff goes wrong - like my internet not being strong enough - without having Engineering down the hall. So many things go wrong as it is because our set up is often done with spit and glue under normal circumstances. I also think eventually, this will get old and management will put things back as they were. Our quarantine has been extended at least to the end of April.
  21. Voice actress Julie Bennett, who among other roles, originated the voice of Cindy Bear from "The Yogi Bear Show" has died at age 88. She also did VA work for "Garfield and Friends," and "Spider-Man: The Animated Series," Corona is blamed but considering her advanced age, it seems secondary.
  22. Do moments in TV movies count? I caught a repeat of one of the Hallmark Christmas movies this morning, "December Bride". On it's own, it's not bad as far as the genre goes (Aspiring interior decorator who always wanted to marry in December falls in love with a workaholic who's indifferent about the holiday season), but there's a secondary plot in which her cousin is constantly asking for her forgiveness. Forgive her for what you ask? She and the woman's [former] fiancee fall in love and marry! Sure, later on in the film, it's mentioned the two were ultimately wrong for one another, but apparently we're supposed to hope that the bride and her cousin are all cool with each other since they are practically sisters and our heroine found a new love [eventually]. I was so pissed off at this! It reminds me of those real life stories you hear about in which someone in the family did you wrong but everyone (parents included) insist you forgive them for a serious transgression that really shouldn't be forgiven. If someone I considered a friend or was a sibling or other close family member was screwing around with my boyfriend or husband BOTH of them would be out the door in a NY minute! Not to mention forgiveness would be a foregone conclusion! I could never forgive someone who would hurt me in such a way! Even if I eventually married the best guy on Earth.
  23. You haven't seen a lot of commercials have you? Every other ad I see shows a white woman with a husband/boyfriend of color (though I caught an ad for Lexus last Christmas that showed a white man getting his Christmas dream gift, while his black wife and daughter cheer him on).
  24. Well, now even our anchors and some reporters are working from home. In the name of "social distance", our anchors are being set up to co-anchor the news from their living rooms. They get everything from camera to teleprompters! Of course today, one of our anchors couldn't pull it off today as the internet connection went down in his area and he had to come in person to do the morning show! I called a friend in NY who told me at least two different stations he watches have done the same so it must be trending. Meanwhile, the essential editors are required to clean our bays 2x daily. I've been doing my part but I don't think the nightside editor is doing hers. When I leave, the bay smells of the sanitary wipes we use to wipe the desk, keyboards and mice (I even clean the armrests of my chair). The bay doesn't smell like that when I enter it at the beginning of my shift (about an hour after nightside leaves). I also notice little fingerprints everywhere. At least no one can claim I'm not following orders. Meanwhile the weather reporter uses a paper towel to open the edit bays (which are sliding doors). FTR, I do wipe those down as well, but she's really paranoid.
