  1. I wonder if Andy will go in on Kathryn and her weave the way he has on the Atlanta Real Housewives cast?
  2. The misogyny espoused on this show by Nene, Porsha and the "viewer" who sent in the question to Peter calling him "Lupeter" is terrible. Why are we continuing the dumb societal construct that the worst thing you can do to verbally insult a man is compare him to a woman? Nene of all people with her unconventional relationship should be really turned off by this sort of thing. On that note, I also have distaste for Gregg trying to regain his man cred by insulting Peter and trying to do the "See, I may hold my wife's purse, but Peter's worse." In addition, shut up about "woman business". There is no such thing. Gossip and pettiness happens between and involving heterosexual males as well. We just all pretend that it's something else. Issues among women are not inherently inferior or unworthy of male attention. Dumb is dumb.
  3. Don't get me wrong. I find both Sutton and Debbie to be talented and attractive. I was purely commenting on my not seeing Sutton as 26. I agree with those annoyed by the Olds don't know sh*t trope. I also dislike the way they do the Joanna Prince v. Wonderwoman bun and no bun styling as if we can't tell which version of Liza she is if she just told her daughter and worthless husband she got highlights and bit of a style update in order to compete in the job market.
  4. It's her jawline and forehead for me that make it unbelievable that she is under 30. I strongly believe that 5 lbs and bangs can be nature's Botox, but even without the presence of a lot of wrinkles, skin elasticity doesn't lie. I am sure I will receive hate for this, but I honestly think to make the secret last longer than 1 year, they should have hired an actress of color because melanin. Bianca Lawson, for example, has played teenagers and vampires most of her career and at 36, she could easily pass for Hilary Duff's peer. An actress like Lucy Liu is the same way. There is no way in hell I would have guessed she is 47. Casting an actress who genuinely can pass for the 20's would also take away the need to cast someone over 50 Liza's college best friend. The unbelievable way they style the shrew 43 yr old boss character would be negated as well. She can still be an ass without looking like some sort Cruella Deville rip off. When she showed up at the club to pick up her drug using friend/writer, my husband and I could immediately see why they keep that actress looking so severe during the scenes in the office. With her hair down and an attractive outfit, she and Sutton look closer in age than Sutton does to any of the younger actresses who play her friends.
  5. I agree with all the sentiments regarding Dorinda and Hannah. Also, who told Hannah that she is gorgeous? I understand the eyebrows and red lipstick are a look, but I'm not convinced they look good on her. Also, when is Dorinda going to tell her to get a life that produces an income? Hannah is doing herself no favors by coming off as completely useless. Is she planning to try and get on a reality show too?
  6. Well, I don't about the rape part, but I have it on good authority that Chuck Connor was indeed a racist asshat. The stories of a relative who came into contact with him ruined my enjoyment of The Rifleman for quite a while.
  7. Glad to know it's not just me. That game was the point at which I verbally expressed what a di..jerk Dre's character is. I also have a personal belief that one's spouse should be your most dedicated PR person to the general public (well other than your momma) so, Dre trying to humiliate Bo in front of the group was particularly terrible in my opinion. I too waited for the payoff and was disappointed. How is it that after everything done to her Bo ended up having to redeem herself by providing an acceptable reason for being dumped? Don't even get me started on faking the vasectomy.
  8. I think I need to rewatch the episode because Dre came of as a jerking to me. He actually has in a few episodes, but there wasn't much grey area for me here. I will try it again.
  9. I agree. It was just strange because they seemed to imply that Patrick regularly sees her so it was a little off.
  10. I am also confused about the number of children Patrick has. I believe this little girl's mother, Tracy, is the white woman who was living in his parents home with everyone last season. I may have her mixed with Neicy, but for some reason I thought she was pregnant too. The other thing about this story I didn't quite understand is why the little girl didn't call him about mommy not coming home. Maybe I was a pain in the ass kid, but I totally would have been like "Daddy, can I live with you? Mom isn't here a lot and I'm scared/hungry/lonely." The writers don't give us enough information about this relationship to fully understand what is happening. I have a feeling they will recon the holes later as it serves them and that is a big problem with this show. Sheenieb, I agree with you about Kara's husband and Mark's situation.
  11. Patricia just makes me think of one of those social climber wannabe's hanging on Bryce Dallas Howard's characters every word in "The Help". I wouldn't be surprised if she has been treated to a few tainted meals by pissed of domestics in her day. She's Suzanne Sugarbaker without the heart of gold.
  12. I understand she didn't go through with it. But, it is implausible to believe that she is having a medical procedure like egg extraction at night and on top of that 23 minutes before the procedure is scheduled to take place she is in her car alone presumably outside of the clinic. They could have shown her cancel with whoever would have been accompanying her to the procedure in the time it took to include that terrible spontaneous orgasm scene. But, this is minor compared to all the continuity problems with this show. Now that I think about it, continuity is an ongoing problem with MBA shows so, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
  13. A lot happened this episode. But a big logistical issue stood out for me. Who was supposed to accompany MJ to the extraction? You receive sedation when that is done and there is no way a facility would let you leave without a caregiver. I am also reaching the end of my tolerance for the David storyline. It is just getting too dumb to be believed. Hopefully the writers have something up their sleeves, but given the seemingly random mix of dropped storylines I have seen with this show, I don't have high hopes.
  14. I agree with you Swellcat, except for the hotness of the LaPaglia brother. I think the Hector character is an an immature, self-centered, man boy in both versions. The AU version made him sort of an elevated version of a male Judd Apatow character. But, I do think the permanent hound dog face I get from Peter Sarsgaard in the US version is worse though.
  15. Neither Cyrene nor her sexuality should be a commodity for her family's brand. Cyrene needs to be clear about whatever decision she makes regarding her sexuality for herself. I am so sad that the conversation with her mom and Phaedra wasn't from the angle of, "Sex is more than just a physical act." or "Girl, don't do what I have done." and not "No ringy, no dingy". Even though they may think they are teaching her God's principles, those women were outlining high priced prostitution and patriarchy. Neither a ring or a marriage ceremony guarantee a respectful, healthy relationship. The ability to attain and maintain that have little to do with a financial transaction or a party. How did the conversation go from a discussion of kissing and hand holding to "skank behavior", "sleeping with this or that person" and "feeling on some booty"? None of those are things Cyrene sited as happening between her and her friend. Also, why is it that Cyrene is unclear about what she wants to do because hormones, unless she decides she wants to remain a virgin until marriage? If the assertion is that she is too hormonal to make a good decision, then wouldn't that apply to a virginity pledge as well? IRL, we all make life decisions at this age. I am sad that Cyrene does not appear to be equipped via support network or self-knowledge to make these decisions in a healthy environment. Regarding the other Tankard children: Benji has been married @ 2 years? It appears Ben has been involved with his children longer than that. In fact, based on their conversation in the jewelry store during Marcus's birthday episode, I'm 90% sure Ben bought the wedding rings. I don't think he had to worry about Marcus because, well Marcus. I don't know the timeline for Brooklyn's activities so, I'm unsure whether Ben wasn't involved at that time or if she was rebelling. These points go to my earlier comment about how this show does a terrible job communicating what Ben knew and when he knew it.
  16. In addition to all the holes that others have posted about, how exactly does the auction of Olivia remain a secret? Are viewers to believe that ISIS, Putin or Kim Jong-Un wouldn't publicize the purchase of the President of the United States' whore? I understand this is fiction and those men are real, but you get my drift. The CIA wouldn't pick up chatter about the auction, but Huck does? I know it's a shark jump, but oddly, I can't turn away yet. I am just so curious t see how Shonda, et al tries to resolve this. How can Olivia ever go back to being a fixer or command any respect professionally after literally being up for auction and outed as Fitz's concubine? What will be the explanation to the widows and families of the dead and injured veterans from this war? Fix it Jesus.
  17. I would just like Jamie to relax on the hair buns. I think she thinks they are sophisticated, but combined with that strident blush color, they just remind me of an old fashioned librarian or one of my childhood ballet instructors.
  18. So, my problem with Cortney, well I have a few problems so, here they are: 1) I would not hire Cortney to do my make-up based on the way her make-up is done on this show. In my opinion, it is a very Mary Kaye / early nineties type of make-up look. I have seen tutorials on YouTube where the women do a much better job than Cortney AND can teach me how to replicate what they are doing. Cortney's make-up and hair are not aspirational. She is girl you went to high school with cute, but no one is searching Google for images of Cortney to take to Sephora or their hair salons. A make-up brand from her will not work. 2) The whole missing the first Thanksgiving conversation bugged the fire out of me. It may have been editing, but why was she coming at Jason as if he betrayed her? From what they both said, it had already been discussed that he is low man in rank and will give up holidays for a while. Everybody in the force has been in that position at some point. AND your own family members are firefighters so, you already know what's up. I don't have a problem with her being sad because they are missing a milestone, but why approach the conversation like this? Also, there are so many options that could lift her spirits. 1) Cook dinner and take it to the house if they allow it. 2) Contact other spouses and you can do a potluck and/or take food to the house. This would probably help you make new friends and help how your husband is viewed by his co-workers. 3) Volunteer someplace on Thanksgiving. Serve food, give makeovers, whatever...Your husband is giving of himself, you can do the same and then have Thanksgiving on Friday together. 3) Also, I agree with the commenter in the episode thread that you cannot just come home and announce to your spouse that you are no longer going to work a regular job and will be freelance. That is a couple's conversation. You sit down with your budget, hash out whatever differences you have and make a plan. 4) On that note, you also don't announce that you are going to spend money you do not have to go pout with mommy and daddy about your mean husband who has to work on Thanksgiving. Have several seats Cortney and woman up.
  19. I have been yelling this at the TV for the last couple of seasons. He would already be a lawyer by now if he had gone to law school in secret once he got the job. If they think we believe Rachel can work as a paralegal and successfully matriculate full-time at Columbia, why couldn't they have let Mike do the same or at least provide a plausible explanation for why that doesn't work? But, I think the point still stands that by referring to Louis as a co-conspirator in a legal document written by Mike, she has memorialized the fact that Mike is not a lawyer. Also, is a contract drafted by someone who is not a lawyer legal? I mean doesn't it have to be filed somewhere in order to have Louis added as a named partner in the firm? If Louis wanted to go back on the agreement, how could they enforce that contract?
  20. So, I re-watched this last night because Mr. Red was catching up on the episode. The team behind this show has done a terrible job communicating the storylines for this season in a compelling way. Regarding the abuse, I understand it is painful to give full disclosure and I don't need all details as a viewer, but there is a bare minimum I need communicated in order to attach to a narrative. 1) A general sketch of what happened: Based on the various statements of the kids and Ben at different times, I'm unclear whether it was bullying from cousins, physical beatings by adult relatives/boyfriends or molestation. All of these are wrong, but I am truly unclear of the actions being labeled as abuse. 2) What did Ben know and when did he know it? Is this a situation where Brooklyn, Britney and/or Marcus (or someone else) told their father what was going on at the time and he did nothing? Or, did they tell him later while feeling safe in the relationship and are still dealing with the aftermath. Both reactions are understandable and deserving of our empathy. But, I'm not getting a clear picture of what Ben's culpability was in the situation and I need that as a viewer. 3) Where were the mothers? I understand that Ben was the custodial parent at the time of the abuse, but if I am sending my child to their father's house and every time I do, he/she is shaking, crying or nervous, I need to know what's up? I have a feeling the Tankards are trying to shield the possibly guilty who are not on the show, but if this situation is just too painful to accurately summarize on camera, leave it out. The way things were communicated in this episode just was unsatisfactory. In other news, I still don't believe that boy is Cyrene's real boyfriend. So, I will try and tell myself that during all the slut shaming and forced conversations with Pheadra (my full term baby was 4 months early) Parks about private matters being forced on Cyrene are just for reality show drama.
  21. So, one thing that bugged the heck out of me was there was never a riot, but everyone referred to a large number of black people protesting as a riot. I have seen bigger scenes and actual riots of mostly white students and fans of college sports teams winning a championship. I am also waiting for the wife, mother, or specified loved one in one of these cases to say something to the effect of "This is not the time to break things because that's what they expect you to do. They brought me here to talk you down because the belief is that you are too emotionally immature to peacefully assemble and demonstrate. Give them nothing but pictures of armed police with tear gas and clubs against silent marchers. Thank you and good night."
  22. So, Jewel and Junetta are terrible people with the self awareness skills of a 2 yr olds. That conversation Jewel had with Cyrene made me like her even less and have a tad more sympathy for Cyrene. I think what really set off Jewel's feelings of betrayal was Cyrene's reference about Junice being so close to her and instrumental in her growing up. I saw something in Jewel that made me think there is something about that relationship that makes her feel competitive instead of thankful that her daughter had a loving, adult caregiver they could trust. These people are also terrible actors and the editors of this show aren't so great either. I call BS on the white boyfriend being a real suitor. I also don't believe Ben didn't know about the allegedly positive pee stick AND I think they are showing scenes out of sequence because since when do Marcus and his wife live in Missouri? This goes back to the theory that Marcus was only added to try and generate storyline and also to get him a check because this couple doesn't strike me as one who is doing well financially without Ben's involvement.
  23. Do loser or fame whore have to be mutually exclusive, Driving Sideways? I am also with you about being split on the sisters. Junice seems like a natural born hater, but her sisters seem to have a cult-like devotion to knowing each other's personal business and talking about it on tv. I have a very small family and this show makes me thankful because this whole "sisterhood" thing these people have going sounds terribly unhealthy and dysfunctional. Did it bother anyone else that Cyrene seemed to insert herself in to the sister's drama and act as an equal to these grown women? When she talked about her aunt in conversations and even when she pulled Junice to the side to address her issues, she sounded as if she was talking to her friend and not her aunt. And that crying at the end was a ploy for attention from Ben and the audience. I ain't buying it. Ben, you CANNOT go home again. You were a terrible parent and frankly still are by favoring Cyrene over your biological children. But, you CANNOT parent grown ass, married men as if they are 14 since you were not interested when they actually were 14. Everybody needs to have a relax, relate, release moment and move on so that you can engage as adults you are now instead of wounded children of the past. Full grown adults should not be engaging with their parents the way these people do. For example, I could not believe Brooklyn acting as if they had to drive (daddy's car) since Ben, Jewel, and Cyrene were flying. Why? Are you unable to buy a plane ticket if you don't want to drive? You aren't paying room or board so, where's your money? I hope that whole scenario was a producer set up.
  24. So here's my impression of this episode. Evelin and Justin: Evelin thinks she's crazy like a fox kissing up to the matriarch and possibly building an alliance to stonewall the future SIL. BUT, she went a step too far in allying herself against her future husband by joining his mom in emotionally manipulating him into changing the plans to a family wedding. When SIL jumps up to object during the ceremony and gives a tacky drunk toast about the kids she believes E has back at home, she will have no one to blame but herself. Cassia and Jason: Jason seemed like a very different guy than the one who was practically crying in the airport thinking Cassia might not show up. Funny how getting on home turf makes a guy stand a little straighter. Cassia probably saw "sucker" across his forehead in Brazil, but pretty soon, she will realize who's boss. Also, people like Cassia drive me nuts. How in the world does she look in the mirror and see model? I'm all for high self-esteem, but let's not go into delusion. Many working models are from Brazil. Did you try walking into an agency for an assessment? Do you see Giselle Bundchen or even a Kardashian style herself in anyway similar to you Cassia? Stop it and learn a marketable skill because modeling isn't it. Everything that can be said about Mo and Dani last night has already been said. Plus, they kind of deserve each other. Amy & Danny: Where to begin...Yes, Danny's dad is a tool. Like someone else said earlier in the thread, I fully expected him to point out that at least Amy isn't dark. Danny is a doormat and Amy is I don't know. I still can't figure out why Amy has moved to another continent for this man. The other thing that drives me insane about this situation is a general concern I have about black and brown people who are so eager to marry into racist families when their partner does not show any ability to defend them or stand up to his/her parents. I just don't get it. I wonder if on some level you do believe yourself unworthy because why else volunteer to receive such poor treatment? I also cannot believe a family full of people who were of age during South African apartheid have not provided Amy any council on why this is a bad idea for herself and her future children. I know people who grew up with grandparents who loved and acknowledged all the grandkids in the family except them. It's horrible. Amy, please do not do this. Lastly, I don't know the laws of Penn, but Amy might later regret not having a pre-nup. I agree with you lisalionheart. I wonder how overwhelmed Danny will feel if one of their children has kinky hair or is darker than a manila envelope? Neither he nor Amy have any concept of what they are signing up for.
