Spoiler Discussion Thread: The Sequel
JamieLynn832002 replied to Door County Cherry's topic in Arrow
I'm really beginning to lean into the idea that S8 will be nothing like the Arrow we know. The Monitor showing up in the finale, coupled with DR's weird, not really in character, sort of nonsense answers makes me think S8 will be very different and DR is hampered by not really being able to say that (I know DR never seems to worry overly much about spoilers but I'm assuming he's forced to exercise some discretion in official interviews.) Either way, I'm still not sure if I'm here for it. -
Fair point, LOL. I really don't understand why they went there since I don't think we're suppsed to view Oliver and Felicity as terrible parents. William lives in a city where Oliver and Felicity have super-powered friends and she is a super-hacker, we're supposed to believe that after that teary goodbye, they tried for a couple of weeks to contact William and then apparently just shrugged and moved on? If they wanted it to be even semi-believable they should have at least had the Claytons not live in Central City.

I still don't actually believe it will happen (and if it did it would probably be Eden Corps/Galaxy One) but the sudden reintroduction of Deathstroke via JJ compels me to say, if Future Felicity sacrfices herself to save William, Mia or Connor from JJ/Deathstroke, I will actually need Barry Allen's Sara Diggle-erasing head on a platter. -
I liked the episode but I kind of need Oliver to stop giving advice about family unless he's talking about Felicity, William and Mia. Oliver, the only member of your family who wasn't in some way secretly evil was Thea and you've blindly trusted all of them, hence your half-sister knowing she want to steal your wife's program, maybe let John figure out his own family issues. I really wish it didn't look like Alena's going to betray Felicity. I don't really understand the JJ Deathstroke thing, Of all the villains the show has had Deathstroke was the one who was most specifically about Oliver so why would JJ start/join the Deathstroke gang to rebel against Dyla? I know Joe Wilson was in the Ghost Intiative but it still feels random and like they just wanted to shoehorn Deathstroke in.

Target Practice: Poisoned Arrow (The Bitterness Thread)
JamieLynn832002 replied to slayer2's topic in Arrow
I don't think Mia actually grew up hating vigilantes, she tells Felicity in Star City 2040 that after arriving in SC she started believing everything people said about Oliver and the rest because she hated/wanted to hate her mom. I do think the training with Nyssa was solely for protective purposes due to the danger of being The Green Arrow's child. The ungrateful, hero-hating garbage fire that is Star City sucks and I don't understand why I should be rooting for anyone to save these jackasses but I think Mia's hate was a more recent, teenage rebellion/my mom lied thing. -

I'm reasonably certain that this isn't what the show wants us to be rooting for but yeah, this. Star City is an ungrateful hellhole that always blames Oliver in one way or another for its problems, it doesn't deserve to be saved at this point and the fact Felicity and their children are still trying to save it 20 years later is infuriating. I think that's what would actually piss me off most if Felicity were to die in the FFs because even if it was directly to save William and Mia it would still be because she wanted to save Star City and Star City isn't worth it...at all. I liked Tommy but I don't think there's anyway to satisfactorily bring him back at this point. As @kes0704 says it simply wouldn't make sense for Oliver to concentrate on Tommy while abandoning his wife and newborn (of course, I also feel like this is true about pretty much anything beyond Oliver forcibly spending S8 with The Monitor or as The Monitor so...) The only way I can see it working is if Tommy is part of what Oliver is hiding his family from and I feel like it would be hard to play that out in only a few episodes. I also think the show has gone to the "someone Oliver trusts/loves secretly sucks" well too many times already and don't really want to see it again. -

I can only really see it happening if the FFs are going to be undone by COIE or something else. There are already (valid) complaints that the FFs give the impression that nothing Oliver, Felicity and the rest of the team sacrificed and worked for in the last 7 years amount to jack, doubling down on that by killing Felicity the same way Moira died just seems like a terrible plan. Especially when you have another season you need people to show up for. -

I have no iea how they'll write Felicity out of the FF but I refuse to believe the show is stupid enough to go with a real death and as @Kymmi says completely lose most Felicity fans. Also does TV Guide really still believe Felicity faked her death and went into hiding? All the witnesses ended up dead and she was 'hiding' in a secret prison room in the evil headquarters...I'm pretty sure she wasn't the one who faked her death. -
S05.E03: Chapter Eighty-Four
JamieLynn832002 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Jane The Virgin [V]
I really don't get this either, it's not the same as being raised in the same household and I understand Jane wanting that for him but they're full on acting like he doesn't have siblings in the middle of a story about him fighting with his sisters. It's weird. It might make sense if they were being raised completely separately with no/little interaction but even when Rafael was in prison Jane and Petra made sure they saw each other frequently. -

I'm starting to think season 8 will just be set up for COIE and not really Arrow as we know it at all. Which, honestly, I'd prefer to a Felicity-less standard season but I'm not sure it would work. -

Weirdly, 7.15 Training Day is still unavailable/not listed, at least for me. I'm assuming it's an oversight caused by having to pretty much restore the entire WB catalogue rather than deliberate but I hope they fix it. -

Maybe there's something they specifically need the meta cry for? I can't for the life of me imagine what it would be but it's the only explanation I can think of for her suddenly suiting up as BC. -

I'm choosing to sit at the optimist table too. I'm worried because that's my nature but I also can't imagine them doing an actual horrible ending. That said, much like @kes0704 ,if the words "love letter to fans" escape anyone's mouth, all bets are off because those words and "here, have a steaming pile of shit" seem to be roughly interchangeable to these people. -
S05.E02: Chapter Eighty-Three
JamieLynn832002 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Jane The Virgin [V]
I'm not sure who the show is trying to appeal to right now...As much as I love them, Jane and Rafael are being super selfish right now and I'm not sure it's even realistic, yes, they are worried about the relationship but Jane loved Michael and Rafael deliberately sought to bring Michael/Jason back to her so this all about us attitude doesn't work and now Jason is being shifty...who is this satisfying? And I desperately wish they'd let go of Rose, I don't think she was ever as compelling a villain as the showrunners thought and now...I know telenovelas are over the top but everything about Rose is ridiculous and not in a particularly entertaining way. -

Yeah, I'm guessing they don't have anything locked down yet and even if everyone fully intends for it to happen, making promises is risky if there's no actual deal/agreement in place. Filming dates wouldn't be set, the play could be extended (supposing that is even Emily's only conflict) and if they promised a return and it for some reason didn't pan out, it would be ugly. -

I just can't imagine the finale without Emily and Felicity. I don't think the tributes necessarily mean anything one way or the other (though I get the fear) because even with only 10 episodes, the female lead leaving before the final season is a big deal that will change the fabric of the show and from a personal standpoint, most of these people are going from seeing her nearly daily during the season to maybe once or twice. -

I keep starting to post but I can't figure out what I want to say. I wish Emily all the best but I can't imagine watching Arrow without Felicity. Now in addition to Oliver's mission seemingly failing, he apparently largely abandoned his wife and baby to continue to try to save a city that annually tells him to fuck off. Gee, that sounds great... -
S05.E01: Chapter Eighty-Two
JamieLynn832002 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Jane The Virgin [V]
That did seem a little strange, I'm pretty sure there are computers in Montana. Part of me is still convinced/afraid this is some sort of trick on Rose's part. I know Raf said he had a DNA test done but if I'm supposed to believe she could pull off faking Michael's death then I can also believe she could fake DNA results. I don't have any idea what she'd be gaining in that scenario but I also don't know what faking Michael's death and erasing his memory gained her. -
S05.E01: Chapter Eighty-Two
JamieLynn832002 replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Jane The Virgin [V]
I enjoyed the episode. It's true that Michael's feelings were largely ignored but I'm not sure how else they could have handled it. He's been Jason for four years and as far as he's concerned, he doesn't know these people. I'm assuming his and Jane's reaction to what has been done to him will come more into play once Jane has had a little time to deal with the immediate "We're getting engaged! Oh wait, no we're not because your beloved husband isn't actually dead...but he also isn't really the man you loved right now and has no memory of you." fallout and if/when his memories return. Right now, there is little any one could do for him beyond Jane trying to trigger his memory because he didn't seem to want or need comfort and even if he did, he'd probably have a hard time accepting it from strangers who insist they love him. -
The Starling City Times: News and Media about Arrow
JamieLynn832002 replied to Grammaeryn's topic in Arrow
I don't even understand how a Felicity spin-off would work. If it's a spin-off set in between now and 2040, she apparently spent those years mostly in hiding so nothing terribly interesting would happen. Also, regardless of what happened to Oliver, in 20 years, she's still wearing her wedding ring and has been raising their secret child so romance is probably off the table which seems unlikely to fly on the CW. And if it's set in 2040, it simply makes more sense to center a spin-off on the next generation than someone who would have to spend hours in make-up every week to play someone in hr early fifties which also seems unlikely to fly for a CW central character. -
Yeah, I refuse to believe Malcolm, who murdered everyone/destroyed all the research at Unidac Industries to tie up loose ends, would have ever been even a little bit okay with that existing. That's like two steps short of renting a billboard that reads "I blew up the Queen's Gambit, ask me how." I know they needed to make it clear what was going on but there had to be a better/less ridiculous way.
-
I assumed it was supposed to be to get close to Oliver or get his attention, like Felicity mentoned earlier, but she started it while he was in prison indefinitely and his wife and child were in hiding outside of Star City so it doesn't really make sense. Maybe there was a plan to frame him for something like she did Laurel? Although, again, he was in prison so stupid plan (also she has a very different build but that never mattered when Roy or Dig wore the suits so clearly green leather renders the citizens of SC unable to differeniate height, build or race)

This season's episode descriptions are like Mad Libs. Have any of them actually been accurate?
