Heartaches, Bromances, True Love and Team Arrow: the Relationships Thread

Blowing up the boat was all Malcolm, I don't think Moira even knew about it at first. She just had it salvaged and stored. -

It does. I'm hoping if she is it's because Emiko completes her mission and leaves town and not because she dies. I don't even care about Emiko per se, I just don't want to see Oliver lose another family member (or the guilt spiral if she dies while emulating him/because someone is out to hurt him.) Either way, it would make Emiko seem kind of pointless. -
With Laurel and Felicity, I can almost fanwank that because Felicity's in love with a man with a fairly high body count of his own she may feel like she has to give Laurel the benefit of the doubt if she's trying to reform. Especially since Laurel was the only person even a little bit in Oliver and Felicity's corner while he was in prison. But that only goes so far when Oliver has shown more guilt for killing evil people 6 years ago than Laurel has for killing innocent people last year. Everything about every relationship other than the ones betweeen Felicity/Oliver/Dig/Lyla (and to a certain extent Curtis since I can believe Oliver and Felicity would always be extremely grateful for her ability to walk and back when he gave a fuck about his best friends probably Dig too) is so unearned. We're supposed to believe these people are close because show says they are but they never give us a reason to believe that while piling on reasons to believe Oliver and Felicity shouldn't give these assholes the time of day.
-
I think I may actualy like Curtis more than Dig right now. This is terrible. Don't get me wrong, Curtis still sucks and I was still happy when he 'died' but he's not orchestrating a plan that involves the potential release of multiple people who want to kill his best friends so he wins. I want the real John Diggle back, I hate this one!
-
So The Ghost Initiative is basically the "I want to murder Oliver Queen or his family" club? Excellent plan, Dyla! No potential for disastrous outcomes here. Agreeing with Curtis makes me hate myself.

Yeah, I've kind of been assuming Oliver's at least "dead" since neither William or Roy has asked about him. Even supposing Olicity was no longer together, it still seems off that neither would ask where he was after finding out Felicity was dead and his beloved city was an even bigger shithole than ever before unless they already know he's dead/gone. -

Well, Beth's just gonna kill him. Is it wrong that the fact she's all "no spoilers!" while her cast still spoils things left and right amuses me? -

My respect and use for Emiko would skyrocket if she's just like, "What!? No, that's stupid" when the tattoo comes up because I still don't understand why a group of 6 people who've known/trusted each other for years needed a tattoo to know they could trust each other. I mean, maybe just remember what your friends look like? There's six of you, it shouldn't be that hard. The only way I see this small group needing the tattoo making sene is if there are issues with other doppelgangers and even then, the risks of the doppelgangers getting the tattoo too or just killing you while you demanded to see it would probably outweigh the benefit. -
The bunker was blown up at the end of last season. This season they've operated mostly out of ARGUS but couldn't be there now or they'd see the shady crap Dig is pulling with Diaz.
-
I don't think Emiko understands how a mask works (of course, since there's apparently no record of her despite being born and raised in Star City maybe she doesn't need to worry about being identified.) She changed the mask in 708, before it covered the lower half of her face so we wouldn't realize she was a woman, but I don't know about the rest of the costume.
-
Even if we accept that for some reason Dig no longer gives a flying fuck about the safety of his closest friends or his city, Diaz tried to kill Dig and Lyla too. How does this Suicide Squad Ghost Intiative plan make any sense to him? I need them to explain why John Diggle has become an insufferable asshole who risks his friends' safety at the drop of a hat. Neither we nor he have any real idea what this Dante thing is so it being the reason he's abandoned pretty much everything he ever believed in doesn't work. Especially since even Lyla's like, "Yeah, no, terrible plan."
-
Dear show, please bring back the real John Diggle. I have no idea who this jackass is but he sucks. And making me hate him won't make me tolerate NTA, it just means the already fairly small list of characters I actually give a damn about is in danger of shrinking. Olicity was great, I somewhat worry about Oliver's continued naivete regarding his parents suckitude, I have less than no fucks to give about the Emiko/Rene show and other than the vague possibility Curtis is dead I ignored the flashforwards. I don't understand what they were doing here. It was...not good.
-
So far, the only good thing to come out of the flashforwards is the vague possibility Curtis might be dead. That's not a great track record 8? episodes in.
-
Riveted...comatose from boredom, one or the other.
-
Turns I give even less fucks about Emiko than I thought I would, characters I give a damn about, please!

Seriously! I mean, if you don't know the context, it is a great hug but it's three years later, they're married and I still can't even see that scene in fanvids without wanting to deck Oliver. If it's a celebration of hugs, why couldn't they use one of the bajillion hugs not used to drive home the fact Oliver was lying to her? -

I somehow missed that but doesn't everyone know gleeful serial murderers are the key to keeping good people from going dark, especially if they've repeatedly tried to murder the person in question? I want some of whatever this guy is smoking. I actually liked Felicity and Laurel's interactions but that entire paragraph is just bananas. -

Is it just me or is Dinah super-punchable in that scene? Admittedly my Dinah-hate knows no bounds at this point but she was even smugger than I anticipated. -

This, so much this! With everyone else that seems to be on the Ghost Intuitive, I can see them having redeeming qualities (although Cupid now knows she was obsessed with Oliver and returned to psycho murdering after being in the Squad so also maybe not the best plan) but Diaz's only goal for months has been to kill Dig's best friends and their son so how does any plan not involving Diaz in a cell seem like a not terrible one? Does he need to wear an "I want to murder Oliver Queen, Felicity Smoak and William Clayton" sign for Dig and Lyla to get it? If so, he's so extra that I'm guessing there's an at least 50% chance he actually has one. And even beyond the danger, Oliver and Felicity risked/lost everything to put the bastard behind bars so letting him out/working with him is a huge betrayal and it makes no sense that Dig doesn't seem to care. I never thought I'd write this but if this ends without Oliver punching Dig, I'm going to be pissed -

I completely understand changing it back since it's a better and probably more accurate title but I don't understand why they didn't do it immediately after Unmasked aired or at least at some point before releasing two promos and the promo pictures. The Robert's daughter reveal occurred in Unmasked so the title wasn't really that spoilery anymore and changing the title a week and a half before airing seems weird and potentially confusing. -

The fact all the tv sites say it comes back from a two week break on April 15 and newsarama refers to the April 15 episode as the mid-season premiere which isn't true regardless since Shattered Lives/My Name is Emiko Queen (which according to comcicbook.com it's gone back to) is the mid-season premiere even if the take another break makes me lean towards newsarama being wrong -

You're right, just went back and rewatched and it is a lighter color than I thought/remembered. Still darker than I'd have otherwise pictured though. -

I think the goth black is supposed to be her natural hair color because Earth X Felicity's hair seemed to be that color or very close and she almost certainly wasn't dying it. I don't think it was meant it to be natural in The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak but now I think it is. -

I'm not sure that writer which knows what "want us to forget" means. The fact that Oliver and Sara no longer seem compatible doesn't mean the show want us to forget they were a couple, just that they probably shouldn't be in one again and with Susan, while I'd love to forget the moronic asshole the relationship turned Oliver into, I don't really think the show cares one way or the other. The article seems to translate "are no longer together" into "show wants us to forget they ever were" which is strange and rarely true. -

I want William to come home because I love his interactions with Oliver and Felicity but I can almost see William finishing the school year simply because his life/school has already been uprooted three times since Oliver entered his life and he's probably pretty angry at both of them. Felicity, for sending him away and Oliver, for never mentioning that "I'll always come back" included a "unless I decide revealing my identity and going to prison for an indeterminate amount of time is somehow an excellent plan for protecting you and Felicity" caveat.
