Season 1 Live Feed Discussion
Couver replied to peachmangosteen's topic in Celebrity Big Brother (US)
Yes! This drives me nuts but a lot of guys do this. Focus on the arms, chest, abs and ignore the legs completely. I whined about it after I saw him in shorts in one of the episode threads lol. -
S03.E04: All Stars Snatch Game
Couver replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars
Y'all read Snatch Game for filth...and honestly it deserved it! AS2's Snatch Game was actually very strong in comparision. I think even the bottom girls in AS2 still turned out decent performances here. This time other than De La and Shangela they were mostly misses. I was surprised Kennedy did so poorly. Character parts tend to be her strength along with lip syncs. She picked a good character too she just didn't take it far enough. Her runway look was a mess though. Normally she has pretty polished gowns. Love, love Chi Chi. I can't think of a queen who has taken criticism as gracefully and as thoughtfully. So happy she was ready to go too. There was some slight shade at Roxxy and AS2 in her talking head but it is better to leave when you are struggling rather than get dragged to the end. I think Chi Chi saw this go around as a chance to show some looks. She felt insecure about her clothes during her season and I will say here she turned out mostly great runway looks. But she clearly didn't prepare for the challenges themselves. I think her approach to life will serve her well in drag and just in life in general. I would love to go see her live so I hope she keeps getting booked. I have tried to give Thorgy the benefit of the doubt but what a salty mess! Her 'shade' never comes off as funny. It just makes her seem super bitter. With that said I didn't like that Shangela took it out on Trixie. I agreed with De La that Trixie probably did it for fun or didn't realize. BeBe's role in all this puzzles me. I can't shake the feeling she isn't really competing. I mean she's doing well but not great and normally Michelle would read a queen for constantly being safe especially a former winner! But they continue to fawn over BeBe (who wouldn't she's great!) without giving her any wins. Aja has really surprised me too. I wasn't a fan of her being included but she's earned her All Stars spot now. Trixie's Ru reminded me of a budget version of Sharon's Ru. They look identical when they do Ru except that Sharon can get the voice and mannerisms much better. -
Shannon was my favorite in week 1 and I still like her but the pity party tonight was a bit much. The house has not been against her from day 1. On day 1 she managed to be the leader of a huge 7 person alliance and have a side alliance with Omarosa. The only people that turned on her after that were Omarosa and Keisha who she blindsided. And that's fine that's how the game is played but you shouldn't become a weepy mess when it happens to you. She also told the other celebs to gang up on O during the vet comp and Omarosa and Keisha were isolated their week on the block which Shannon was fine with. I am shocked that I really liked James tonight. His edit in week one was maximum douche which I found really different from his social media persona (which is pretty nice). His approach to the game is refreshing. I like the pep talk he tried to give Shannon. A shame it was wasted on her. It will probably make for better TV is Shannon stays and James goes. Though I think if Shannon stays she and O will destroy each other and open a path for Ross and crew.
-
I was on board with Keisha's reasons for leaving right up until she needlessly threw Shannon under the bus to James. She wasn't lying but it was unnecessary. If you want out for valid reasons (and I believe for her they were) then fine. Talk to the HG about that. Don't randomly throw in game right before you leave. It was so strange. I am very confused by something. Are they playing for charities? Shannon seemed to indicate yes during her intro video but she was the only one. Then Ross thought she was playing for her animal charity as well. But again no one else has mentioned playing for a charity and Brandi has indicated she's doing this for the money for herself/family. This episode was boring but overall the condensed format is better than the regular version. Agree with all those who have said the lack of showmances and the focus on actual game play have been great.
-
I've always liked Kennedy. She's inconsistent in her performances but when she turns it out she really turns it out. I like that they noted she does comedy well. Two wins related to comedy now. Loved Ru saying people down play it because of her criminal record. The judging panel has been great with their jokes and puns this go around. Milk...this has to be fake. She is not a very good actress and a lot of it seems super staged and phony. With that said her rant about the bottom queens was harsh and hilarious. Hilarious because she isn't above anyone in this competition. I'd say she's pretty even with the girls that have placed near the bottom consistently. Also what is she doing that is ground breaking? Sasha Velour has leaped ahead of her there so wake up girl. I won't miss her and hope she doesn't win her way back or whatever the twist is. Love Chi Chi but she is not on form here and she knows it too. It's the opposite of Roxie last time. Though I think deep down Roxie knew she was just being dragged along. I like that Chi Chi takes her critiques well and I like that she's aware maybe now was not the right time for her. I would hate to see her pulled to the end like Roxie. It was almost sad when the S2 All Stars did their raps. The quality of Alaska's, Katya's, and Detox's raps to Roxie's was so staggering. I don't want to see that happen to Chi Chi.

I commented on that in the episode 1 thread. It was gross. I mean yes it went that way and Ross elaborated a bit why (he's always gotten on better with girls) but to just assume was problematic for me. Right!? I was trying to figure out what was happening there. Shannon wasn't reacting at all but there's no way his luggage would be in the HOH Room. I have no sympathy for Omarosa and don't believe for a second she did anything for her country. I doubt it was for her country that she went on any show that would have her when he first hired her and gloated about that revenge list and how his enemies and those who spoke out against him would be punished. And in classic O fashion she talked Keisha, who was absolutely right, down by making ridiculous analogies. I don't think Ross believed her though. He basically said in his talking heads that he was fishing for information about the administration. James please spend some time working on those legs! He is a good looking guy but like a lot of guys so out of proportion. There are muscles in legs too James. I agree with those who say Keisha should have back doored James. He can easily win POV. A lot of these celebrities don't seem like they'll be good at comps. Should have put up Mark as a pawn. Didn't understand Metta's rant at the end at all. He told Shannon he wanted out not Keish (unless he did and we didn't see it).
-
I like the design of the house. The kitchen looks so much better than it normally does. I chuckle at the constant reminders that they were leaving their 'celebrity' comforts but then none of them took any luggage into the house so I'm guessing they have wardrobes set aside for everyone? Calling bullshit on James not knowing about The Apprentice. He's 27 not 17. He's really likable on social media but wow what an ass on the show so far. I also HATED him asking Chuck if Ross was with the guys or not at the end there...just ick. I was not expecting A or even D listers and I think the show did a decent job casting....with the exception of Omarosa. Leaving aside all the messiness recently surrounding her. She just steals so much focus and is so exhausting. Very silly of Shannon to trust her so quickly. Rooting for Shannon and Ross. I would love to see Shannon's charity get the money. Super gross seeing Paul again. And Mark saying he was a BB legend? As a two time loser? Okay lol.

S03.E02: All Stars Divas Lip Sync Live
Couver replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars
I have to echo what others have said about the divas each queen got. Some clearly had bigger/funnier parts. I do think Ru assigned each queen a diva that was in her wheel house but the Stevie Bit Thorgy had had no real funny moments. Neither did Kennedy's Janet. But I also saw the judges' point that you can still sell something small if the execution is right. Bebe's part wasn't big but she really channeled Diana Ross. I don't know what happened to Milk. She was very likeable and drama free during her season. Although it was a season of big personalities so maybe she just got lost? I keep wanting to think she is faking it or believes she needs to do this for air time....but why? She is really overestimating her drag. She's a great model as a man though. Should have been on the bottom instead of Chi Chi though. Chi Chi's Patti was great. Her runway was so so but not deserving of the bottom. Thorgy was channeling Nina at her paranoid best in this episode. It's sad to see she hasn't been able to get a handle on that even after her season. But I do still like her and I think she has a unique style. I'm dying to know what the twist is with Alaska and Chad and the booted queens. -
S03.E01: All Star Variety Show
Couver replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars
I thought this was a great premier. I did think the talent competition in A2 was stronger but the girls this season all put on a good show. Even the bottom two weren't horrendous. I was disappointed in Chi Chi. Mostly because as Dela said we know she can do more. All her lip syncs from her season were so much better than what she performed. Although with the tea spilt about an injury and the issue with song rights I guess she couldn't fall back on doing a classic lip sync with a well known song. Could have gone with a wig that have some life in it though. I do love that she owns her critiques though. No boo hooing or making excuses. I didn't even understand Morgan's excuse. Shouldn't you know your own material better? I feel like the judges would have scored her higher if she had engaged with them more. She made her act too much about being the bitch and coming for the other girls. I hope Chi Chi improves now that she's been given a second chance. It's nice having Bebe back. Ye she's a winner but I agree with Ru a lot of people didn't get a chance to see her on her season. And as others here have said she didn't get to do a lot of the newer challenges. It may have been interesting if the returning winner was Tyra though. Especially given her relationship with Morgan. I also think she needs it more than Bebe. Bebe is pretty well loved by fans that do know her. Can't wait for the reveal of whatever Chad and Alaska are doing to the eliminated girls. It's going to be hard to top that mirror reveal from A2. -
Agreed. It's so easy to do a recast with a movie like this too. We literally know they have spells/potions that let them change identities. Of course I am mindful of the fact that it probably isn't that easy to just boot an A list actor from a role. Nor do I think the higher ups associated with the film want to boot Depp. I just find their imagining of Grindelwald so counter to what we know from the books. Granted it isn't much but it isn't anything like what we saw on screen. I suppose they do have time to flesh out the character more. So I'll try and remain positive. The rest of the cast and their characters are fantastic though.
-
That was always my impression. That Grindelwald was both charming and handsome. It explains why Dumbledore may have fallen for him. Depp's Grindelwald looks neither charming or handsome. It's been said to death but why couldn't they have just kept CF?
-
Was it Fantasia? The dinosaur sequence has a I guess T-Rex vs a Stegosaurus. Although I don't think there was a narrator. Just music. It was pretty graphic for a cartoon meant for kids.
-
That did seem to show a lot. But I'm sure they have some surprises left for the actual film. I'm not sure I'm super down with a lot of dino death and destruction. I know they aren't real but I hate seeing animals die in tv/movies. Strange that the pterosaurs hadn't left the island already. In fact I'm surprised none from The Lost World made it to the mainland somewhere over the years.
-
I don't know about that. Between the two Witherspoon is the one with a classic diva 'Do you know who I am' on her record after losing it over her husband getting busted for a DUI. Oprah's been in the game a lot longer too plus Mrs. Which is basically the leader of that group of 3 though Mrs. Whatsit has the larger role.

Saw this last night. This was amazing overall. It went back to the feel of the first Thor film and dialed it up to 1000. Dark World was too serious and dark to play to Chris Hemsworth's strengths. He does comedy really well and seems to be more engaged with roles that let him do that. Everyone seemed to be having such a good time that it filtered into the audience. The actors/characters had an easy chemistry that helped that too. I loved all the visuals. Like a fun cycadelic ride. Chris and Idris were looking fine in this movie too. At their absolute peaks. Also, and I feel weird admitting this but, CGI Hulk was looking good too. They've improved him a lot since the first Avengers film. No words to express how much I loved Hela! CB is amazing in almost everything but seeing her all emo and dark was wonderful. I also love that while the heroes did eventually figure out how to defeat her it wasn't through a sudden power up or Hela acting like an idiot. Thor couldn't beat her 1 v 1 in the end. They had to out think her. Too often we see the villain of the film destroy the hero(s) early on and then suddenly become idiots who lose too conveniently. I just have one nitpicks that bugged the nerd in me. How did all of Asgard forget Hela but Thor and Loki and I'm sure others recalled the valkyries? Asgardians are too long lived for the general populace who were around when Hela was to have forgotten her. And even if Odin went out of his way to purge any mention or memory of her why would he keep the knowledge of the valkyries alive when Hela was the one who caused their extinction? The scene of Hela vs the valkyries was beautiful done though in a very tragic way. Like the fall of the gods in WW. I did not know Taika voiced Korg! He was adorable.

Yup. It was very paint by numbers. Old mentor who is sidelined in some way, check, hesitant hero thrust into the spotlight, check, hothead rookie who annoys everyone but has deeper issues, check, workplace romance that has obstacles placed in front of it, check. It seemed no different than any other cop/military show. But pilots can be rocky so hopefully the show can find its footing. I do think it needs to find its niche that lets it separate itself from shows in this same genre. The actors seem capable enough for the most part and they are all pretty to look at so I'll give the show a few more episodes. I really hated how the entire team had to go out searching for leads. That seemed so strange and so obvious too. I know Hondo was trying to make the community feel like family but a massive group of SWAT members showing up just seemed unrealistic and likely something that would make people nervous and less talkative. He should have just gone himself or with one other member. I hated Street's introduction. The character seems fine and has potential but they want us to believe that an elite level cop would be that careless? And also survived long enough at his old job to get transferred? He literally ran right at an active shooter.
-
This! I still cringe that I started this show and liked Alex and St. Paddy's Day off the bat and didn't like Jessica. 3 weeks later and it was a complete turn around.
-
How could I forget Dick? His season turned me off as a regular watcher of the show. I think primarily because he was popular...I don't know how so I felt his behavior was sanctioned and rewarded. Didn't he use pots and pans to wake everyone up as well? And I think he threatened to rape Dustin till he bled as well. It was gross but America seemed to like it. One thing I did appreciate this season (19) for though was the lack of a bro alliance. I always hate those. Cody/Matt/Mark tried it but it failed so quickly and so fast it wasn't an issue. And it probably never would have gotten off the ground anyway because Matt was pretty useless on all fronts.
-
I think Paul has a lot of insecurities when it comes to someone like Cody. My guess is that he always wanted to be a true alpha like Cody especially when he was younger. While the two of them were the ones seeking to control the house Cody was the only one that did it so openly. Paul always had to do it by hiding behind someone or many someones. Not a true alpha IMO. And I am 100% he would never dare try and get in Cody's face outside of the house without production's protection. I had a lot of issues with Cody's behavior especially early on when he created the cool peoples alliance and deemed everyone who didn't fit a certain aesthetic as outsiders or losers. But the mean spirited piling on that Paul orchestrated after he returned was just so gross I was thrilled he won AFP. The bullying this season really turned me off. It seemed psychologically dangerous. I think only BB15 with his disgusting batch of racists was worse. Like many seeing Paul get his comeuppance was beautiful. His arrogance as it got closer and closer to the finale made it that much sweeter. I do not like Josh but from what I have seen he doesn't seem as mean a person as Paul. The only people from this season I would like to see back are Jessica and Cameron. I think Jessica could do well without Cody and I honestly think Cameron deserves a second chance. I think he could have been a good house guest this season. He seemed like a good balance of nerdy/smart but also athletic enough to do well in comps. Thanks to all the feed watchers. It was fun lurking and learning about some of the even grosser behavior that did not make the show. Though to be honest even the behavior that did make the show showed Paul and others in a very bad light. I didn't need the feeds to tell me he, Josh, Christmas, and Alex were awful. But it was nice to have that confirmed for sure with details from the feeds. And it was great spoiling myself about the winner in here because I was dreading watching the taped episode thinking Paul would win.
-
LOL. Amazing. To this day my friends and I still love that scene from King of the Hill.
-
In hindsight the wight hunt now looks really really foolish. It doesn't seem like the NK had a sure plan to bring down the wall. They clearly weren't going to swim into the water by Eastwatch. Without Viserion the wally very likely could have stopped or halted him!
-
Fantastic finale! Probably my favorite episode of the season along with Spoils of War. I think the best part were a lot of the character interactions. Hound/Mountain, Cersei/Tyrion, Jamie/Brienne, Jamie/Tyrion, Sansa/Arya, Jon/Theon. A lot of these were small moments but they felt like a long time coming. I loved how small and scared Cersei looked when Dany arrived. She hid it well after but in that moment when the dragons arrived she looked terrified, and I loved it. I did get goosebumps when she came back and said she would help. As much as I dislike Cersei I honestly think she and Qyburn could have been invaluable in this fight. Her talent in surprising moves of destruction could have come in handy vs the army of the dead. That cliffhanger, whew! It was so sad seeing Viserion decayed and evil (how is he flying with so much wing damage?). What is he shooting out of his mouth? Blue flame or ice? I was a little confused. I honestly don't see how the heroes take that army on. Jon/Dany will have to get the NK killed quick to have any chance. I like Jon & Dany as allies but I'm not sold on them as a couple. It was a nice juxtaposition of Jon/Dany sex and Lyanna/Rhaegar. I still think Rhaegar did Elia and his two other children really dirty though.
-
I just hope Ghost, Nymeria, Rhaegal, and Drogon end up in the Not Dead list. That's all I'm wishing for at this point.

Season 7: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Couver replied to Minneapple's topic in Game Of Thrones
It would be nice if she's in red and gold for Viserion. I'm dreading Cersei making some cutting remark about his death because I know Dany won't hit back about the death of Cersei's useless children and it will infuriate me. -
This is the second time a character has belittled what can be seen as women's work and knitting in particular. Lady Mormont did it a few episodes ago. I do think that it is in character for the two characters saying it and what they value s important but I also think it would be nice to have a counterpoint to that criticism. You mention a good one. Everyone has a use in wartime not just soldiers.
