Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Couver replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
But if the leaks are to be believed he goes out of his way to try and save his sister, a mass murderer who reveled in all of it. And it seems she is the one who sets it up to look like Dany did all the burning. It makes the Tyrion character super hypocritical. -

These latest spoilers are so jumbled. Do they say Drogon gets blown up in KL? 😫 🤬 GD show why? Give me something please. Drogon flying off into the sunset is all I ask. -
Manpain is clearly allowed. Like totally ok to off an annoying kid that took out your murderous gf and plotted to kill you. Not ok to have any emotion about losing yet another 'child' and bff in gruesome and tragic fashion and going after person who is plotting to kill you. I guess the exception is Arya who is allowed to get revenge etc without being called 'crazy'.

Anyone hoping to over throw Cersei will result in dead common folk. There is no way around that. She''s been given numerous chances to surrender peacefully and has rejected them all. Should the Starks not have taken back Winterfell either since innocent people likely died in the battle to take it back?

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

Also why aren't Dany's advisors taking any accountability? When we first meet Dany she isn't after the IT. Key people moved her toward that and then she began desiring it. Varys and Tyrion having moral outrage now given their pasts is laughable. Dany has listened to their advise and in doing so Cersei has killed so many. So isn't that on Dany's advising council? But apparently some of them get to rule at the end? LOL. -
This would actually be a decent ending for her. A realization that she didn't need the IT. That what she had accomplished overseas was actually better. She's never successfully integrated into Westeros. And suffered so many heavy losses here. It's also interesting that it seems her advising council is turning on her now. They forget that Dany didn't set out for the throne on her own. Several key figures groomed her for it as well.

I think a story of Dany losing the throne could have been told well. I just don't think the show left itself enough time to do it. And the writing so far this season is just so poor. The optics on how female characters have been written the last two seasons is also appalling. Also as a fan I've always struggled with how much fans hold this character to revenge kills or war time kills while completely accepting the kills the Starks commit. I'm still trying to think of any innocents Dany actually killed. Other than the little girl killed by the dragons when they were hunting. I have no sympathy for slavers and nobles who were fine with exploiting and killing people and when given the chance to stop said no. Same with the Tarly's who were traitors and again given a chance to surrender. But to hear detractors talk Dany burned wholly innocent people daily. This show is full of revenge killing and retaliation. But it's only wrong with Dany does it. I am generalizing of course. But that's how it seems to me. Though I suppose fans of characters are always more sensitive to the criticisms of their faves.

Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

I'm still clinging to this one being fake since it seems to be contradicted by him taking a dead Dany away. We'll see as we get close to 8x5. I've already stopped watching but I'd like to tune in to see a Drogon happy ending if he lives. -

It can't be said enough. Dany should have listened to Olenna from the start. No point in deviating from her nature when she is the villain either way. If she'd taken a strong front as she landed on the continent she would likely still have all her children and her better advisors (Olenna, Yara, Elaria). Instead of the two faced men she's stuck with now who are clearly leading her to destruction. There is death in war. Ever king had a long list of casualties in their rise to the throne. Jamie's speech to Oleena last season was actually fairly accurate. If you rule justly and fairly the populace will forget what you did to get there. I just want to know that Drogon lives. 😫 -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Couver replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
One thing this show did well was give the villains their comeuppance when the time came. So at least fans got that satisfaction. It sometimes came late like with Ramsay and the Freys but when it came it was GOOD. I'm sad to see that Cersei goes out so mildly. No one to gloat at her and make her suffer? The character so richly deserved that after all these years. -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion

I guess I'll just cling to the spoiler of Drogon taking his mom away from all this at the end as my bittersweet. And Ghost making it out of this mess as well. The ruling council seems like straight up garbage though. The head of it has no empathy or human sentiment. Tyrion has suspect character....and I don't even know what to say about Bronn's inclusion? Davos is the only decent person on it and the only person who actually has been shown caring about the lives of the common people. And not.a.single.woman on it? Not even Sansa who would be well suited to it. Or Yara? Brienne? And it's weird that every major house is gone except the Baratheons with Gendry legitimized right at the end. I would think all the houses would be gone. Disappointing. I'm not going to rage about it though. Some will like it some will hate it. This show was GOOD when it was good...and BAD when it was bad for me at least. I'll be skipping the last three eps. Seeing Dany's hearbroken face when Viserion died was enough. I don't need to see a repeat with Rhaegal. It's not shocking or new at this point. And they really dropped the ball in building up Jon's Targ ancestry or any type of relationship with the dragon. -

All true. But this show tends to go out of its way to keep Cersei viable for as long as possible. So Dany and Jon's side always have to take heavier losses otherwise they would rightly route her. -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Couver replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
I am really trying not to run wild with the spoiler speculation. But I have to echo what most are saying. It would be a horrendous ending if they go this route of Jon killing a mad Dany. The build up would be so rushed and OOC. I would hate it either way but would have less of an issue if they set this up even at the tail end of season 7. And while I know this show never set out for happy endings. I do believe audiences deserve some sort of closure when their shows end. Trotting out a tired trope of a crazy woman who is put down by a man (to further his story). Is so lazy and cliche. I'd be ok with Dany dying if it was done in a more organic way. And why have us invest in Dany for what 7 years for it to end like this? Or in Jon for that matter. Who they have slowly built up toward a possible king. But apparently he just up and leaves after killing Dany? Just major ball dropping for both characters IMO. Again I may be getting worked up over nothing. But I am probably going to just spoil myself first with the remaining three episodes because there is no way I will actually watch them if most of this plays out as it is being speculated. And to top it all off it doesn't seem like Cersei even really gets hers. I made peace long ago that she'd never get the offing the character deserves but a fairly mild death just isn't right. And letting her kill a few more good characters before she goes is just gross. Love Lean Heady but Cersei as a character became useless a season and a half ago. -

My only wishes for this season were that Ghost, Rhaegal, and Drogon would live. I'll handle any other deaths but theirs. Nymeria was smart and got out of there before it all went south. -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Couver replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
I always felt like they put the CGI money toward other things and had very little left for the Direwolves. They were well done in early seasons. Greywind especially. As the dragons started having to appear more I noticed the wolves either (got killed off) or started looking less realistic. It is sad because I wish the wolves had as prominent a place as the dragons. Plus I hated all of their deaths! -
Season 8: Speculation and Spoilers Discussion
Couver replied to Eyes High's topic in Game Of Thrones
Gosh I hope these latest spoilers aren't true or play out very differently than they seem. It would undo years worth of character work for both Dany and Jon. A very unsatisfying conclusion for fans of either of those characters IMO. -
I don't think I've ever seen a thread in more agreement than this one. A fantastic series episodes 1-9 and then....this. I almost wish I hadn't binged it so that I could post in the other episode threads (which were all great) instead of just skipping to this one. The finale just erased everything that made the previous episodes great. It also did not support its own narrative. There is no way many of the ghosts in that house were as passive and 'nice' as the finale made it seem. Poppy basically revealed that the body behind the wall was the tall hat man. He walled himself up and then tried to claw his way out. That is gruesome and pretty sinister. Same with the story about Clara Dudley's still born baby. They presented it as the house having this evil intent. You can't switch that around at the last minute to it just wanting to keep families together. The finale couldn't pick a lane and stay in it. All the other ghosts were decayed and grey but Olivia, Nell, and Hugh were idealized, bathed in bright light and perfect. I would have been fine if the show made it explicit that there were good and bad ghosts in that house but it really didn't say so either way. Poppy seemed the baddest but then Olivia basically told her to step off and she was like "okay sorry byeee" after having just tried to kill all the adult children. I would have much preferred the alternate ending. Yes it is an obvious horror trope and I was actually expecting that fake out that they never got out. But it would have fit with the tone of the whole series better. That the house was evil and that it did never let anyone escape. End it with another unsuspecting family moving in at the end. My guess is as other have said that the Cranes are done storywise. I see this series being like AHS with a different take each season. I'm curious to see if they will use the same actors just in different roles. Oliver Jackson-Cohen really deserves to be on something long term. He is really very good and oh so pretty.

This list makes me so sad! So many good(better) options. Fassenber and Skarsgard especially are what I pictured Grindelwald to look like. Both also have that cold detachment that I think GG had. I do wonder if they always had Depp in mind for this role? I ask because they clearly imagined Grindelwald as more monsterous looking than he was in the books. I don't recall him ever being described as having two different coloured eyes? I just wonder if the films wanted the big bad to look like a big bad (ala Voldermort). If that's the case then it isn't all Depp's fault. Unless they always had him pegged for this and modified GG to fit the character type that Depp likes to play.

I haven't looked at it this way but it makes more sense when you do.

Finally got a chance to see this after being on vacation. The winner is not surprising at all and I wasn't even spoiled. The show just telegraphs the winners lately. Granted it isn't as obvious as All Stars but it takes the suspense out of the finale. Aquaria is a deserving winner. She picked up the pace as the competition went on a lot like Violet. I'm not a fan per se but there is no denying she is talented. The attitude I chalk up to her being 21 and good at what she does already. Plus despite that she has shown that she is open to learning and growing. Crushed for Asia! I love her....and I love butterflies. What was she thinking!? As others have said even if they had survived the heat and being enclosed they were doomed to die in that theatre once released. That dress was beautiful but it didn't even fit with the song choices for the finale. She actually could have gotten the pop she wanted with confetti shaped like butterflies since she was blowing them into the audience anyway. I was happy to see her address it immediately on IG and I love that she's working with the SPCA now. I would expect nothing less from her. This was a good season overall despite the predictable outcome. Not as strong as season 6 but close. My only issue with the show lately is Ru....and parts of the fandom. It's great to preach that the show is a beacon of hope and tolerance but that isn't reality. The fandom is anything but. And despite being about tolerance and acceptance queens and fans are subject to all sorts of abuse and segregation. Ru should actually address this IMO. I know he can't control what fans do but the racist/homophobic/transphobic fans should be called out and told they are NOT part of this community.

At first I thought he was just going to be harmless comedic relief but I have to agree with the rest of you that it came off inappropriate. A lot of the things he was saying to the students would not fly with any parents if they found out.

It's back on June 7. Not sure why there was a one week break. I finally caught this episode. Devastated for Monet! Mostly because she deserved the Snatch Game win. I hate seeing such a talented queen leave with no wins. Also she had the best talking heads. I don't think she or Kameron won the lip sync. They both re-used moves they have before. But Monet's character connected better with the song. That isn't Kameron's fault though. Kameron's tricks just seemed thrown in and off from the beat (as did Monet's slide of desperation). I don't see a lip syn assassin in Kameron. Aquaria has grown on me as a person. She does say some fairly blunt and arrogant things but I do think there is a thoughtful person underneath. She's young and competitive which is what I chalk her arrogance up to. I loved that she wasn't phased by Eureka's attempt to sabotage and that she had experience painting different skin tones. That said she is definitely being protected by the show the same way Pearl was. I have no issue with Eureka and I find some of her talking heads funny. Also the accent she put on for her trade character was identical to Ryan Kwanten's Jason character from TB. It made me feel all sorts of ways. But with The Vixen not around to provide a counter balance it does seem like Eureka is dominating the show. And I disagree with her that being a returnee is making the judges expect more from her. They've rarely said that as a critique. Their bigger issue last week was that she didn't perform as well as she did on her previous challenges THIS season. And know the ins and outs of the competition is a huge advantage. Asia is my favorite remaining queen. Her talking heads are funny and she gets people together in a very real and level headed way.

S01.E09: Opening Night / S01.E10: Deal or No Deal
Couver replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Champions [V]
I enjoyed both episodes. The Vince/Michael relationship has been my favorite part so it was nice to see how it progressed to him calling him dad at the end. Matthew/Andy is indeed the MVP. He has the best one liners and jokes. I loved how annoyed he was at Greg all through dinner. I don't expect this to get a second season so this was a nice ending. If my some miracle it does return I agree with those saying either build up the gym employees or trim the fat. I love Brittany but I think we could do without Shabaz and the uncle. -
See I've always found it odd that they come to Earth. They outclass people technologically by a lot (especially in the first movie) and physically as a species they are superior. It always seemed cowardly to me that they would want to hunt us with such an uneven playing field. When they have faced threats closer in ability to them (the xenomorphs) they haven't even fared that well. This looks decent though and very in keeping with the spirit of the films in the franchise. The only truly terrible one for me was Requiem which was just way too dark, as in I couldn't see anything that happened on the screen.
