The only thing I can't remember is if he knows this? He should right because the Night King found the Three-eye Raven's lair through that link but I can't remember if Bran made the connection.

I think the queens have assistants for the finale. If you watch some of the videos of the queens backstage getting ready. A lot of them seem to have helpers.
-
The comparisons to Tyra are very accurate. Valentina had the makings of a Tyra type winner. I would say that at least on the show though Valentina came off better than Tyra. Tyra never got the bubbly edit that Valetina did. Ultimately it is probably better to be a more liked winner. Tyra has done the least things of note as a winner and I say that not to be shady since I do like her. The winners that have done well post show are queens that are well liked/respected and have a lot of connections in the drag world.

Thank you for posting the video! They all look amazing. One of the reasons I love the finale is seeing what looks the previous queens are wearing. I always love seeing Porkchop too! Also for all the drama surrounding her and her generally messiness I can never fully be done with Tyra because she always serves amazing fish. And I apologize for not remembering who but I have to echo what another poster said. It's wonderful to see the African American queens serving very African and African American inspired looks. Bob, Nina, Shea, and Tyra all representing. And Bebe is always doing so as well (and does it best imo). I can understand why the show focusing more on the YouTube personalities and young audience members since they know where their demographic is now. But I still miss the focus being on the queens.

Whew what a finale! I loved it. It was so high energy. This was a very deserving top 4. I think each had their own strengths but throughout the season they all rose to the occasion most consistently. I was pulling for Peppermint so I'm a little gutted. IMO she was the better of the 2 in the final lip sync. Sasha gives really....ugly face during her lip syncs but I guess that's her style? It was a toss up between Trinity and Pep in the first lip sync. Trinity opened stronger but I think Peppermint was smarter in building to a bigger finish and she was lip syncing the words much better than Trinity. I was sad for Shea too. She did so well all season. But something was missing in her lip sync. It was very low energy and Sasha was fantastic in that one. My one nitpick about Sasha is that I feel she and the show think her drag is ground breaking and I just don't see it. Facets of it have been featured before. Princess, Milk, and Max all have aesthetics very similar to Sasha's and I'm not sure her cerebral side comes through in her drag to differentiate from other queens with similar styles. With that said she is well spoken and I think she'll be a good ambassador for the show and for LGBT visibility. Her father is adorable! I do wonder about the reunion now (being staged) since Valentina and Aja seemed very happy sitting next to each other. Were there less drag alum than normal? I saw Jaidynn and Tyra but not many others. No Porkchop shout out?

I think the shocking nature of her elimination gave Valentina and especially her fans the out that she was destined to win the whole thing. But the challenge she went home on illustrated that her acting game was not on point. I'm sure she would have thrown herself into the remaining challenges but I don't think she could have written a strong rap or performed it anywhere near as well as the top 4. Trinity and Shea were always above her in terms of raw talent not to mention experience. And by the time she went Peppermint and Sasha were coming on strong. Those 4 would have ground her down. I do wish she had known the words though. If only to see how she is at a lip sync really. I think Nina probably still would have out performed her there too though since she's good at that when she's actually committed.

Wow that reunion was lit! And a total opposite to season 8. In Season 8 the drama happened on the actual show and the reunion was pretty much kumbaya . Season 9 was basically Ru Paul's Best Friend's Race on the show and then a drama filled mess at the reunion. Not that it wasn't entertaining. I did think everyone went a little hard on Charlie but she was flip flopping with excuses all over the place. I love Nina but I'm sad she hasn't been able to let go of her paranoia even a little. When Ru asked her if maybe the shade she thinks she is getting is all in fun too and she still said no it was sad. How much did the producers love Valentina? If this was even a little bit of what she is like then her edit on the actual show as amazing! I honestly believed she was an inexperienced but driven and talented queen on the show. She was all sweetness. Today it just reeked of fake. The cute act wasn't working and she lashed out pretty angrily at Shea and Farrah. Even without the bad behavior here I don't think she was this seasons Miss Congeniality so I'm glad the other queens changed the name.
-
Thanks for posting the link. Johnny was really sweet to her. He can be pretty shady so that was nice to see. I love Nina. Like a lot of her fans I have been where she is. I don't think people who have been bullied and struggle with depression ever fully get over it. But you can learn to manage it and cut down on the very negative and hurtful self talk. She seems to be going to a lot of gigs based on her IG so I am hoping the show is allowing her to make a living doing this. I just hope she doesn't let her insecurities get in her way. She needs to keep a good relationship with WOW since they employee the queens in all sorts of ways. My only concern is her emotional attachment to Ru. It seems like she feels they really connected....and maybe they have. But it is well known that Ru is all business and once the camera stops she isn't really interested in engaging with the contestants on a personal level.

Alexis annoyed me numerous times this season. But she seems like a genuine person and I thought she did fairly well tonight. IMO they shouldn't have had the Native American Village Person as an option. That is such a charged issue and it's been misused by so many dumb celebs and stupid college students. I don't think Alexis could have dragged it up without facing a ton of backlash. But yeah as a whole her 3 looks were standard. At least she looked beautiful getting eliminated. I thought Trinity should have been on the bottom. Her first 2 looks were bad. A few episodes ago I thought it was going to come down to Shea & Trinity but Sasha has kind of crept up and I now think it is going to be Shea and Sasha. I love Peppermint. I used to watch Youtube videos of her duets with Sherry Vine (7 years ago!). So it's kind of surreal to see her now and how far she has come.

S03.E13: Kimmy Bites an Onion!
Couver replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt [V]
I think it might! The crossing guard robot hinted at a take over. When it was discussing the final test it said something like 'save the many over the few....for now' -
I could have excused the blind trusting of David since Walter confirmed that newer models were modified to be less independent and essentially subservient to humans. But then the movie never made it clear if the crew knew what happened to the Prometheus exactly or not. Walter seemed to know that David had gone rogue which is why subsequent synthetics were modified. But the crew didn't. Even with that in mind though when David was clearly acting shifty and suspicious they never questioned it at all. Disagree about Theron's Vickers character. She was probably one of the most foolish characters in Prometheus. After the 'biologist' who pets the alien snake her inability to roll out of the way of that falling spaceship was such a dumb move.
-
This was both a funny/sweet & sad episode. I have to agree with everyone that the crew being so game and willing to take anything on was fantastic. I loved the heart to heart the crew had with each of their sisters. It really showed that all the differences culture creatures regarding gender and sexuality are just constructs. Trinity & Glitta's conversation really captured that. Sarge as MVP of everything! He also has a great face for drag. It was so expressive. I would love to see Wintergreen on season 10. I'm a big Nina fan so I was sad to see her go. But like Jaymes I felt it was her time. The competition had really gotten to her head and I don't think it was in her best interests to be there any longer. She seemed to get it there at the end in Untucked so hopefully that is the first step to getting control of her depression and self doubt. I've also found that the insta queens bring with them a lot of young.....passionate fans. I'm generalizing of course and this isn't a knock on the insta queens since this isn't their fault. But I find the queens with a major instagram or social media fanbase tend to have followings that will bully other queens and the show when things don't go there way. It was most pronounced with Pearl when her fans attacked Jasmine Masters and then Raven for even mild criticism. But I saw it happen this season too with Aja. Nina's IG messages were lit up after she sent Aja home. It's brought a cyber bullying aspect to the show that I don't think was there before.

I saw this today and snickers I'll pull up a table with you in that I also enjoyed it overall. I thought it got more to the roots of the original 2 films than Prometheus ever did. One thing both movies have done well are the visuals. There are so many beautiful scenes. The unfurling of the solar sails was beautiful as was the Engineers city (though why were their buildings so primitive? It looked like Ancient Rome). With that said the film could have been so much more. The biggest weakness with this film and the previous one were the characters. Alien and Aliens worked so well because the characters had some life to them. It made you invested in their lives and their struggle for survival. Covenant did better than Prometheus in that the characters were more likeable but still one note. I think if more time had been devoted to the couples it would have helped. It was very awkward how often the film had to have someone say 'my wife' or 'my husband' to tell the audience when they could have just shown us. And while more likeable the character were still so stupid. Even if an planet has breathable atmosphere wouldn't you want to take precautions against alien pathogens? Even a lay person would have that thought so when trained specialist don't it's ridiculous. The film had a good cast that could have handled more material though. The xenomorphs in this looked fantastic but I was left with so many questions. How did the black dust create the first 2 xenomorphs? In Prometheus the goo/dust just mutated the hosts it didn't birth any aliens. I would have liked if the film at least kept to its own established continuity. How did David even create the facehuggers? Was he experimenting with the Engineers and the animal life on their planet? Or did he use Shaw to birth a queen?

I assumed it was something like this as well. Though apparently it could be more serious. Whatever the case I like that both are professional enough not to let it hurt their work. Elena/Bonnie scenes have always been pretty strong and I though the reunion in the finale was one of the stronger scenes in the entire episode.
-
Of course the show would tease me with the possibility of Batt one last time and still give me nothing on that front. Does anyone know if Nina & Kat had a falling out? I noticed Nina posted IG pics of her with all of the main cast after the finale except Kat and Matt Davis.

Donald John Trump: 2016 President-Elect
Couver replied to Notwisconsin's topic in Current Events & Politics
Trudeau is a polarizing figure here but he's pretty popular. Though that may just be me being in a Trudeau bubble. His win was essentially our version of Obama's win in 08. There was pretty big voter turnout to get Harper out and Trudeau in. Plus the Trudeau's are Canada's version of the Kennedys with less scandal. He's been critical of Trump in the past so I have always worried about US & Canada relations since agent orange won. But Trudeau is also pretty measured and diplomatic so I think he'll try and work with it as best he can. -

Exactly! Also add this to his list of lies. He's on record stating that he respects Putin, the leader of a foreign country with a horrific record on its treatment of its LGBT citizens. -
!!! KG & MM sold me on Bonenzo but I'll always be a Batt shipper. What could have been? Why the show never went there I do not know. It's not like the girls haven't shared a bf before. Especially when they were both anti vamp.

I don't think there is any danger in Katherine being back long term. I think Nina is pretty much done with this franchise. But I wouldn't mind seeing her one last time. A few snarky lines before she heads off wherever. I have one huge nitpick I forgot to mention. Why did Tyler not fight back at all? Untransformed werewolves on this show still have a level of super strength and speed. He could have pushed Damon off of him. Also doesn't he have some level of regeneration/healing? I know werewolves heal much faster when transformed but I'm pretty sure Tyler and Mason, when he was on, could heal when in human form too just not as good as vampires. Didn't Damon have to use wolfsbane to torture Mason since he could heal otherwise?

I have to echo those who say the season started strong but it losing its way fast. I have no issue with the backstory for the Sirens and in some respects it is interesting. But I hate that it is taking away from seeing the characters we have spent 7 years watching. I'd be fine with the new villains but just more focus on the main cast. It was nice seeing Matt finally since he's one of my favorites but what a way to treat Tyler and MT. Considering Tyler has ties to both this show and The Originals it was such a horrible send off. I expected characters to die this season but couldn't they have used him more? A Matt, Tyler, Jeremy reunion even if brief would have been nice to see. I hope we at least get to see Caroline react to this. Though I had to laugh that killing Tyler would make people hate Damon. He killed Jeremy and Elena looked passed that. So sorry Tyler... So Kade is older than Silas then? Who I thought was the first Immortal/Psychic? One bit of silver lining though. Kade's plane sounds like the Otherside and the Prison Worlds. Defeating him could potentially free a ton of characters at the end of this show. Including Katherine! It might be nice to see them pop up on The Originals. Even if that show probably only has 1 season left as well.

Thank you! I had forgotten about that one. I remember now it was a huge feather in the cap of supporters trying to pedal him as some progressive or savior to LGBT causes. Nevermind that ISIS poses no immediate threat to LGBT people in America (outside of the general threat they pose to the entire populace). Instead its the law makers and politicians in the US that do. Those are the people the LGBT rights movement have had to fight all these years to get what they've gotten. I wish he had said he'd protect LGBT people from his ghoul of a running mate. Now that would have been something. Gosh to go from Obama to this. The Canadian coverage of the election had some amazing panelists making some amazing points. One of the most poignant ones for me was when she noted. That not long ago the White House was bathed in rainbow light for a historic win for minority rights and now someone who believes in conversion and shock therapy is in there.... The protests give me hope though. I see his supporters saying what is the point and that they are meaningless. They are not! Make your voices heard (safely).

So I'm not American but I think like a lot of people around the globe I am still reeling from this result. I'm thankful I don't have to deal with the immediate repercussions but I know that this regime will have an impact on a global scale. I need this thread because I cannot deal with all the social media gloating and lies. The comment sections on the social media accounts of celebrities that supported Hillary are just gross right now. How can his supporters have the nerve to call for coming together after the most divisive campaign in recent memory? And all of the back tracking and outright lies about things that were said and done. That he is not against minorities....that BLM and other organizations made that up. That because he held a rainbow flag at one press event he is the most pro LGBT president ever?!? With no comment on the political history of his VP and his feelings about LGBT issues....

This is exactly my issue with his possible casting as Grindelwald. He's a talented actor for sure. He just does not fit at all with what I had pictured in my head. Which is too bad because I've always wanted to learn more about Grindelwald.

S08.E02: Today Will Be Different
Couver replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Vampire Diaries [V]
This was bugging me about the Siren as well. Why just have 2 supernatural henchmen when you could have a whole army? There are probably tons of weaker willed vampires she could bend to her well. Plus you'd think she'd love a challenge like breaking Stefan? I actually like her as a concept for a big bad and there are interesting angles they can take this with the whole hell thing. I just think she isn't fully fleshed out yet. For example I wish they did a way better job selecting her prey. Half the time Damon and Enzo are getting guys that have barely done anything bad. I think the worst was the blood painter. Shouldn't they be breaking into prisons and taking the worst of the worst to her? The Bonnie/Enzo scenes were good though. I actually hated this pairing when it was first spoiled but KG & MM have really committed to it. Bonnie was still very shortsighted though. I hope her obvious impending encounter with Sybil triggers her powers to come back. The proposal scene was cute. Where is our beloved puddin pop Matt? More of him and less of intern please. -
That's what I thought as well. Though you can make a case for both versions since the timeline they are working with seems off or at least confusing. Like when did Enzo meet with Virginia in the tape Caroline was viewing? Before or after falling under the siren's control? He and Bonnie talked to her a lot in the psych ward but I don't remember a scene where he saw her one on one through the glass partition. If he was pumping her for information it would have to have been before since after he'd already know what was in the vault.
