I was hoping to get a little more information about what caused the feud between Coco and Roxxxy. It seemed to be about more than the elimination. They seemed fine with each other for the most part last night though so I guess it wasn't anything too serious. I'm glad Coco is okay. It was clear during the show that something was wrong with her physically. I wish she had lasted longer if only for her talking heads. Her twitter feed is hilarious! It was a good reunion. Lot of funny moments and some heartfelt ones too. I agree with those who said it was nice to see the queens get a chance to be somewhat candid and call bs (in a playful way) on some things. I loved the toot and boot bit too. Ru buried Phi Phi IMO. The tone when discussing her and not mentioning her name and just the way she said things made it pretty clear she is done with her. It's shortsighted of Phi Phi IMO. WOW has so many Youtube projects that they involve the Ru girls in that help them work on their brand and get their face out there and she's now cut off from all that. I wonder if clubs can/will still use the Drag Race tag line when promoting a Phi Phi appearance? It seems like her heart is in being a cosplay queen like Dax so maybe none of this will matter.

Yeah I wouldn't mind a few more details about how this happened being fleshed out. I mean we know the personnel at the Armory all met a grisly end so I guess the gang just took the site over. But I think the Armory is global so there have to be other units and someone has to be paying for all the new staff. I'm shocked they are fine with Alaric just taking over. My impression was Enzo has been sneaking away and leaving her some of these clues. I think Bonnie just connected the dots based on their conversation about the siren. I don't think Enzo knew what it was when they had that discussion though. He knew after the fact and then laid the clues out for her to hopefully find.

I enjoyed it too. KW has a fondness for the characters that really comes through. Especially Bonnie. I was side eyeing the big bad a little bit when the episode was going on because it was starting to look like a take on the First Evil from Buffy. So I was pleasantly surprised when they reveled it to be a Siren. It's the first I've heard of sirens being harbingers of satan though. Not sure if the show just made it up but at least its different. I loved Enzo leaving Bonnie the clues. So nice to see Bonnie get this type of focus. It only took 8 seasons lol. Artsda I do agree that the Caroline/Stefan scenes didn't gel with the tone and scenes in the rest of the episode.

I did love Alaska's rap. She and Katya had the best by far. And I gagged at the Porkchop name drop. I wish she had been cast on AS2. I wonder if there is some Porkchop drama we don't know about? She looked absolutely livid in the audience during the comedy challenge. Has she come for Alaska in the past or something?

This is a good point and one of the reasons I think the show handed Alaska the win. Post season 5 Alaska has really built up a brand and done a good job getting that brand out there. I think that translates into a lot more visibility and $$ for WOW and the show. I mean Alaska's little 'Anus thing is possible' at the end plays right into that. It's catchy and memorable and it ties into her single & her tape product. All one nice corporate package. Katya just hasn't had as much time to build her brand and her style of drag does not lend itself to the type of ventures someone like Alaska would pursue (I could never see Katya as an AA Girl even though she's certainly pretty enough). My impression from Ru is that an all star earns the win not just on how well they do on the show but also based on their entire body of work outside of the show. Chad had been working away as a drag queen for years before appearing on DR and I think his win was to recognize that. Similarly I think Alaska was given the crown because of her growth post show and how well she has positioned herself in terms of advancing drag to the mainstream. I mean she has a children's book out! You'd never have seen something like that before DR.

Agreed about the editing and pacing of this episode. It jumped around way too quickly and Alaska's edit in this seemed off. I believe she really is a super fan but why was it only brought up now? I can't recall her mentioning it as much in the episodes prior. Before this episode it was just her drive to win and be the best. I'd have preferred if we had this super fan narrative from the get go. As for the finale. Pretty anticlimactic. Alaska is a deserving winner. I was mad at her last week but her social media stuff in light of the backlash has been hilarious. She is very talented and polished. It's just it was all so predictable. They did a bit of a fake out with last week's episode where you felt Katya maybe had an outside shot but other than that Alaska was the clear winner for the bulk of the competition. Far more so than even Bob last season. I feel horrible for Katya. I mean she's endeared herself to even more fans and probably come out the best in this alongside Alyssa but not winning even one of the lip syncs? She killed all of them. I'm curious to see the reunion next week since we have been promised tea. I especially want to know what set Coco off on Roxxxy. Probably just Coco being Coco but she did say all would be revealed soon or something.

Drag Race related-ish I think. Lucian Piani is having a total meltdown on twitter over Hillary Clinton. I follow him on Twitter and IG so I knew he was a big Bernie supporter but I didn't think he'd go down this road. http://www.lgbtqnation.com/2016/10/drag-race-star-lucian-piane-slams-clinton-trusts-fada-loving-trump/

That elimination was BS. The bar I was watching this at erupted with boos and gasps when it happened. The bottom placements this season are just strange. I realize it is All Stars so the competition and talent are tough but to basically praise someone and then put them in the bottom is odd. I thought the same thing when Ginger ended up on the bottom and went home. Tatianna had the best ad after Katya, maybe tied with Alaska. Her runway look was head and shoulders above Roxxxy's. And how did she not feature her product? I thought she showcased it as much as everyone else did. I wasn't even a big Tatianna fan during her season but she has grown so much and been SO entertaining on All Stars. I've warmed up to Roxxxy this season too but I almost feel sorry for her at this point. She's being dragged along because of friendship when her actual talent output in the competition has been lackluster. I'm guessing she is going to stay until they can set up a RolaskaToxx elimination where one of the three has to decide on eliminating the other two. They probably want the drama of that. So disappointed in Alaska on All Stars. She's been so great post season 5. But she is so pageant here! Her speeches while eliminating someone have been cringeworthy. They sound so manufactured and fake (those fake tears earlier!) and that's something I never thought of when I thought of Alaska. I wish I could hope for Katya or Alyssa to snatch the crown but it's so obvious who is winning this.

Good to know. Thank you! I honestly didn't expect them to have a stop in my city and was so happy when I saw the date appear on the BOTS site.
-
Question for those who have attended a BOTS show. How long does it last? I'm going to the one in Vancouver this coming Sunday (so excited). But of course out of nowhere I have an interview early Monday morning that I can't miss. I don't want to have to leave in the middle of a performance though. Does it usually wrap up around midnight?

Loved the finale! I was away on vacation and didn't want to be spoiled but I foolishly opened my Instagram while away and I follow most of the queens from this season so I got spoiled anyway lol. It was a very deserving final 3 and I echo everyone who said they would have been happy with any of the 3 winning. I was team Naomi but I love Bob and I think he will do the brand proud. Dax looked amazing at the finale! I'm a huge nerd so her Asgardian Storm look was everything to me.

I didn't see that twist coming so props to the show for that. Rayna really did get the last laugh. Poor Bonnie though. Lots of angst for her and Enzo coming up. I'm guessing becoming a huntress immune to magic will cut Bonnie off from her magic. She'd be far too powerful as both a huntress/witch for any of the vamps on this show to stop. I'm down with seeing Bonnie kick some butt without the need for spells. Caroline's conversation with Alaric at the end was really good. I hope we get a few flashbacks for them. The Matt/Stefan stuff dragged an otherwise good episode down and I say this as a huge Matt fan. I hated when he still blamed Stefan after he found out what really happened. I was on his side with wanting the vampires out of MF but to ban Stefan from ever setting foot there was a bit much. Maybe he and Penny should have been a bit more careful playing vampire hunter? Her death was his and her fault entirely. His story this season has been dreadful. Hopefully they can find something better for him next season. He's at his best around his friends so I think being removed from Caroline and Bonnie for most of this season hasn't helped. Whatever is in the vault doesn't seem that ominous. And Alex is an idiot. Clearly she knows the same history about that ancestor that her sister does so she knows something bad is in there and still wants to open it?

S07.E19: Someone That I Used To Know
Couver replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Vampire Diaries [V]
I'm not sure if she was leaving the cabin but she was in communication with people. Caroline was sending her pictures of the twins so they were clearly talking. -
This was probably the first time I wanted Ru to just say there will be no lip sync, Derek sashay away. Bob's look was below the other 3 but I don't think it warranted a bottom 2 appearance. Derek was unanimously the worst based on critiques. But I guess doing that would have been really harsh. After coming off super unlikable (to me anyway) for most of the season I do think this episode humanized Derek. I felt really sorry for him when he was talking about coming out to his mother. That might explain why he is so defensive? His 'shade' toward Naomi seemed very harsh vs what she was saying to him. I think it might be a throw back to the first episode when he was miffed Acid Betty said he wasn't fish with Naomi around. Even without Naomi I don't think Derek is pretty enough to be fish. I was glad he complimented Chi Chi's outfit in untucked though. He came for her so hard during the Oz challenge but as this challenged proved with a bit more time Chi Chi is WAY above Derek as far as construction and design go. Can we crown all 4 remaining queens? I love them all so much for very different reasons. Any one of them would be a fantastic winner. Also this has to be the nicest crop of queens ever. I noticed even the crew seem really fond of them and they seem to interact with the crew way more than the season 7 queens did.

Anderson Cooper would be a great guest judge. He's very serious when he does his usual thing but he can loosen up a lot when the occasion calls for it. TR just seemed very stiff. But he sure is purdy. Good point. I don't think he really understood how the panel works and that shade is thrown. But if he's a fan of the show he should know better.

S07.E19: Someone That I Used To Know
Couver replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Vampire Diaries [V]
Boo to them offing Lucy off screen. Not cool. She was very badass the one time we saw her and I was hoping she would make an appearance after she was mentioned. Also it was really over kill to get Beau again though I understand why they had to. I am not sure I care to have this mysterious vault sister of Alex's released. Do we really need another all powerful formerly unknown creature on this show? That aside I loved this episode! I was very anti Bonnie/Enzo. The early stuff with them this season made it seem like a pity relationship. But seeing how they connected over the last 3 years was super sweet. Agreed that the NY's Eve dinner was the highlight. Loved the Bamon interactions too. IS was really great in this episode. The kind of jealous/grossed out vibe he was giving Bonnie/Enzo was hilarious. I'm not sure if the show even knows what it wants to do with Bamon but either way they are playing really well off each other. But I am not sure I want Bonnie/Enzo done in favor of Bamon. Also loved that brief scene when Bonnie was leaving the dorm and saw the 3 girls initials on the door. Even though I usually hate damsels in distress it was nice to see the gang work together for Bonnie's sake for once. It's usually her going to bat for one of them. I loved when Enzo told her maybe she doesn't know what being treated decently is. It was a little odd Matt wasn't there helping but maybe he doesn't know what is going on with her and there is his whole I hate Stefan thing. ElectricBoogaloo re the twins my guess is they will know about the supernatural world sooner rather than later. They are siphon witches. There is only so long Ric and Caroline can avoid talking to them about all of it. -
This elimination makes me wonder how much the other challenges and runways factor in to the judges decisions. Thorgy has basically been top 2 or 3 in challenges and runways since the season started. Derrick had one good week and yet another blah runway and avoided the bottom? I will give him props for finally getting the stick out of his behind and having some fun. But his drag is mediocre at best and he doesn't really seem to realize that. Sadly I think he is going to make top 4 which means yet another more talented queen will go before him. Kim Chi's ad was lacking in shade but I loved that she poked fun at the no fats/fems/Asians and I was thrilled Ru picked up on that and mentioned the hypocrisy and racism that sadly plagues the gay community. Thomas Roberts was a very poor guest judge. And was the show shading him with all the cut aways during panel where he was barely speaking? Vivica was great and seemed to have had fun.

Past Seasons Discussion : Tales From The Crypt
Couver replied to Cattitude's topic in The Vampire Diaries [V]
I agree. I felt like the show was trying to build up to something with her but then it went nowhere. She interacted with a ton of the main cast but it amounted to nothing. I feel like there was probably something planned and then it got dropped for whatever reason. I can't say I am that sorry though she was a rather bland character. Didn't Bonnie's sort of adoptive brother Jamie make it out alive too? -
Past Seasons Discussion : Tales From The Crypt
Couver replied to Cattitude's topic in The Vampire Diaries [V]
Rebekah was correct when she said that but the Originals were/are not in a position to lecture anyone on morality. It's just the nature of these types of shows that they want the audience to root for the grey characters. -
I'd hate to see Bonnie become a vampire :( Even if she did become human again. Caroline is probably the only human turned over the course of the show who was handled well. If she hadn't gone through her switch turned off phase she would probably be the most successful non murdery vamp on TVD and TO. But what you are proposing is a good twist around Kai's spell. I'm starting to doubt that they can get ND back for a finale though so they might have to come up with something else.

I forgot the Lucy Bennett name drop was awesome and welcome. I hope she stays in hiding. As much as I've wanted to see more of her I don't want her sharing the fate of most witches on this show.

I really liked this episode. Damon and Alaric hunting together again was so great to see! I love that Alaric enjoyed it even for just a moment. Their talk at the end was really heartbreaking and I say that was someone who isn't a huge fan of Damon. IS really did a great job with that scene. As someone who hated the idea of Bonnie/Enzo when it became obvious they were going to be a thing I have to say I am kind of feeling it too. KG tends to have chemistry with a ton of her male co-stars which is why it's so tragic Bonnie's love life has been pretty desolate. But the two of them were pretty hot together. And MM is selling Enzo's feelings for Bonnie really well. Glad to see Valerie take the high road. I thought she was a goner there for a second. While I feel the heretics were poorly executed I'm glad a siphoner is still out there just in case. That final scene was all kinds of good, awkward, and sad all rolled into one. I loved it! The writing was also pretty tight in this episode. The snark and one liners were really good.

I really don't think they thought about the mythology behind the Phoenix Stone. It's too inconsistent. She allegedly puts them in there because it is a fate worse than death since they are suffering for eternity. And she did say in this episode that she destroys most of the bodies so they cannot return to them. Originally it seemed like you were trapped in the stone forever unless a witch pulled you out. But then Stefan & Damon got out by resolving their issues but also still needing a witch to pull them out. Which made the stone seem like a type of purgatory where you do penance and then get let out. So then why destroy the bodies if you're hoping the vampires in there will be changed? It's a mess.
-
She was chasing Nora & Mary Louise even though they didn't have the mark initially. She only marked Nora right before she died. But that could be explained due to her hatred of Julian? I don't think they thought her backstory out very well to be honest. Though I do think the actress is doing the best with what she has been given.
-
ElectricBoogaloo get out of my head! I had so many of the same thoughts while watching this yesterday. They have done such a poor job with Rayna and the huntress mythology. If her true purpose were to trap the most dangerous vampires why didn't she ever put a single Original in that stone? Or Kathrine or any number of other evil and powerful vampires. She never even put any of the heretics in there just Julian. And the vamp in Jo's body seemed pretty decent. And yeah I did a double take when Valerie said that as well. We've had how many witches on this show and OT. I haven't heard of a single one of them being able to get that specific. I also found it silly that a locator spell could work on Rayna. I thought about Beau and Oscar returning for a second but then I reminded myself that they are minorities so their chances of coming back on this show are about 0. I am so over the back and forth with Stefan and Damon this season. I like when the show uses their brotherly dynamic but I prefer when it isn't all angst ridden an plagued by the same things it was in season 1. Stefan's speech about why Damon never takes action and acts heroic was so dumb. He has known him how long? Damon just isn't that type. He'll act if it's someone he cares about otherwise he won't. So what? Not every person is going to be a rush into a burning bus type of hero. I am going to need Bonnie and Caroline back next episode.
