  1. I used to be a camp counselor years and years ago. They almost all reminded me of the skits the kids would do. Kind of dragging, with no real story line or point and without that there was no real way to wrap it up.
  2. I think he said they originally met somewhere else and she now works there. When I worked at a group home, the city in which I lived had events for the developmentally disabled members of the community that my clients would attend. I could see them meeting at Special Olympics or something along those lines and hitting it off but he was too nervous to pursue her at that point.
  3. The tarts may have been lovely, but most of those cakes were not decorated well. And fault line cakes just seem weird and pointless to me.* And now I'll shake my broom at those kids to tell them to get off my lawn. I don't think I have a favorite yet, but the woman whose cake broke so she did a vertical fault line cake and the blond lady who doesn't do delicate were not my favorites. Wait, the bear lady's cake was cute with the butt and the face peeking out of the fault line. I googled fault line cakes. I saw some decent ones out there. I don't think I like it when they shove the fault line full of sprinkles, but I saw a cool Harry Potter one, an archaeological excavation that was really creative and a watermelon that convinced me they aren't totally pointless. Just mostly. πŸ™‚
  4. Dele went to Bob when he had a problem (if I recall I think it was when he wanted to be a dancer not a doctor). Abishola did not respond well. It's hard to know how long they've been "dating," so it's hard to know if Dele should be around Bob more or not. A lot of single parents wait a long time before introducing kids to the new boyfriend/girlfriend.
  5. As a woman who is basically the same shape as Brittany's model, basically square, there's so much she could have done to make her look less like a sack of potatoes. I've found several that fit me nicely and gave me the illusion of having a waistline when I really don't.
  6. Sadly I liked the pinata dudes better than the globe dragons team so I was bummed they went home.
  7. I have a hard time believing the only 2 cars on the lot for $5000 each were the cherry one that Dee Dee got and the lemon Alicia got. Even now you can get a car that isn't THAT bad for $5000. I do like some of the history lessons they give. I feel like I'm learning something from those that I wouldn't necessarily have realized or thought about.
  8. I was thinking the same thing! I can't imagine who has to clean that up and then put them all back into their finicky little boxes. I thought it was kind of interesting and had never really thought about them being broken like that. I really loved the newlywed's one with the alien and the planet. The duo that went home, I noticed one slipped off her shoes while she was working. I was so surprised she didn't end up stepping on Lego. So far my favorites are the lumberjack duo, the father/son, and the brothers (one of whom had cancer). I was not enjoying the male married (I think) couple where the one got very anxious. This will not be fun to watch.
  9. I should have known Dina wasn't going to allow herself to be played, but I had a moment where I was worried that she was and I was a bit sad for her. I think this move to the new owners has interesting potential. They're not quite as cut-throat as Wal-Mart but not quite as benevolent as CostCo seems to be.
  10. That's what I was confused about. Last episode Bob and Abishola were kind of on the outs because she sided with Dottie over him and was judging him harshly for being unkind to Dottie. And now this week he loves her? Are we pretending last episode didn't happen? BUT I did like this episode. I'm the Abishola in relationships, I'm not inclined to say I love you right away for similar reasons, my parents rarely said it to each other or us. I wish she would have said something about how she's not ready to say that. But I also wish Bob didn't act like a petulant baby about it. He's old enough to know not everyone has the same timeline.
  11. I was totally expecting that too! And I did like that she tried to let Dex walk away even knowing that Dex clearly knew what that meant she was. How did Violet know where to find him? She may have had his license plate on the camera and she saw his face, but it isn't like Portland is the size of Mayberry. I'm sure Axel is taking the written test just to get his learner's permit. I guess it would depend on his ability to memorize information. Here the learner's permit test is basically knowing the rules of the road. I know when I moved to a new state, I failed it the first time I took it because the rules of the road in Alaska were different than the rules of the road in Arizona.
  12. They've been rerunning this show on Pop! I've finally seen the first season which now explains Happy and Toby. I had only watched from season 3ish to the end and so I've been really curious about how Happy and Toby got together.
  13. I know the premise was to make Rio be the postal carrier and the comedy that ensued, but they could have played it that Deb knew all this about people because she was their daily mail carrier and in the course of going to their homes every day learned about them. They could have had Deb go on vacation and she pushed Rio to do her job for the week without having it so illegal.
  14. Maybe that's just her portion and PriceMart pays for the rest of the tuition? Otherwise, yeah, total scam.
  15. I don't like that they made Deb right and Rio wrong. Rio WAS right. Deb shouldn't be reading the email and just because Deb knows everyone on the mail route and mothers them doesn't change that fact. Given that Constance was so tweaked out about all of Rudy's law breaking and didn't bat an eye about Deb's, it was an odd double standard to me. I guess law breaking friends is one thing, but a law breaking lover is another. Deb could have just known all this information about her mail route people without having to have read their mail given she's done it for however long she did. I did, however, enjoy the sight of Rio riding her bike with the big mail bag towing behind. That was cute.
  16. That was my thought. She would likely have been eligible for some, if not all, of the Pell Grant and depending on her brains some academic scholarships. There would also likely be work-study available for her to help with the expenses. But I do remember way back when I went to college when it was significantly cheaper than it is now, my roommate, whose family was similarly struggling did end up taking out small loans for the 'family' portion. I think Darlene viewed it as "settling." There's that whole school of thought, follow your dreams or passion and the money will come. Then there's the rest of us who do our jobs and save the stuff we're passionate about for our down time.
  17. Especially when she got so mad and banged on the outside of it in frustration because she had already lost a clump of hair and she was not going to be bald for her wedding. I laughed so hard at that. They did. A lot of the opticians in the big chains are completely independent. I'm not sure who works the actual optical counter in them. The one at my local Target wear the red shirts of a Target employee. Totally agree. It would be more realistic, to me, if he were working for Cloud 9's janitorial company (if they have a separate one) or something along those lines.
  18. It kind of indicated he was going to go back to Florida and curse the other guy by signing him up for mailing lists and whatnot. Basically justifying Cam's belief in having a nemesis. Hated the Manny plot, although I loved that Gloria realized her son has been too coddled and that's led him to be kind of pathetic.
  19. It could be because this means sex is happening under the roof she shares with her son and she doesn't approve of that? I liked this one a lot too. I liked how Dele seemed (to me at least) to incorporate some of the music of his culture in one of the videos. It makes me wonder if she ever really allows herself some time off or vacation time.
  20. It's kind of a hybrid of the 2. Priscilla has the trek across country with a kid, but To Wong Foo has the trek across the country to a big drag pageant at the end.
  21. For some reason I just assumed it was because she had a little bit of a crush on him. The way she addressed the envelope I think. Or did she get Jonah and Glenn confused.
  22. Apparently the Goldbergs is like a candy bar for me. I watch. It's pleasant, but dang if I can remember it for more than a few hours. I think he was just back for the episode but I've already forgotten and I didn't doze through half the show. πŸ™‚
  23. Luckily my DVR was already set to record the Jeopardy Greatest of All Time show because there was a new episode last night even though my cable guide said Jeopardy. Murray discovered he's a year younger than he thought and Bev throws him a second 50th birthday party. Apparently this really did happen which makes me a little sad for Murray.
  24. I think I'm out on this one. One of the fun things on the OG version was that it wasn't just cake. They had all sorts of challenges that were often amazing. When they did have cake, there were requirements about how much had to be real cake as opposed to rice cereal treats. It seems like they don't have that rule anymore. It's just a retread of so many of their other cake shows.
  25. Sorry, tornado warnings and severe thunderstorms make the demon Jet Jet an unhappy dog.
