  1. Despair - Yeah Yeah Yeahs: Actually, a lovely acoustic version. Saw them live twice, both times before this album (Mosquito) came out. Gingerbread Coffin - Rasputina: I've seen them countless times and I'm obsessed with cello metal. This song in particular was my first introduction to them. I love the mix of the dark lyrics and almost childlike vocals. 9 To 5 - Lady Sovereign: Not a cover of Dolly Parton. :) Lady Sovereign is a queer rapper form the UK and I was super into her first album then I kinda forgot she existed. So I Fall Again - Phantom Planet: Generic late 90s rock. I was wondering why I have this and then I saw that it's from the Sabrina The Teenage Witch soundtrack. How embarrassing. Where Do I Go From Here? - New Kids On The Block: No shade. I still love them. Had this on a cassette back in the day. Those mofos took my fan club money and never sent me my autographed poster, though. Jerks.
  2. Oh, I just listened to an old How Did This Get Made episode and relived my intense love for Bloodsport. It's not good. I know this. #kumite
  3. Man, favorite movie as a kid and still one of my faves as an adult. When I was evenlittlerwonder and I had no concept of queerness, that movie woke up something in me. I loved that Jareth was a boy who wore makeup and was pretty. I wanted to both be him and marry him. As an adult, I now have a giant husky named Ludo because he's a gentle giant.
  4. 3 Ninjas. I can't even defend it. But, you know... Rocky loves Emily!
  5. It Follows is one of the best horror movies I've seen in years. Not super scary but... unsettling.
  6. Pasta all day everyday. But only in olive oil or cream sauces cause tomatoes are the devil.
  7. I'm making my way through Alice Munro's Friend of My Youth having having just finished Edith Warton's The House Of Mirth. I like them both but will need something light up next.
  8. Arya was born at our house on Jan. 1st. She's six months old now and she's a very happy pup! This picture never fails to make me smile so hopefully it's worth sharing with all of you!
  9. A lot of Lucy Maud Montgomery, including The Blue Castle which the good folks at Chicklit recommended. White Oleander by Janet Fitch Baby-Sitters Club. I have almost a full set and one typically takes about half an hour to read through which is perfect for a bubble bath! :)
  10. Urban Decay's Electric Palette is wonderful. Supremely pigmented. I also use some of the blues (mixed with lip balm) to make lip stains.
  11. I've replayed Samira's OPP more times than I care to admit. Stunning.
  12. Just found this thread. Jumping in to also say... Luke!
  13. The montage of fakeouts with Sarah Silverman and her houseguests was a delight. Could have watched a solid ten minute of that.
  14. My partner pointed out that I always read the same things: non-superhero comics, and books about atheism and intersection feminism, so I asked friends who are more conservative/religious to give me book recommendations. So there's some Ayn Rand on my bookshelf now along with a Donald Trump book about negotiation. I am starting to regret my decision.
  15. This is what I was up to last night (well, me and hundreds of others.) Very cathartic. http://www.torontosun.com/2016/01/16/video-massive-bowie-singalong-at-ago
  16. I am completely gutted. Before I knew what queerness was, or that I didn't fit into a gender, or that I could grow up and move to a big city, or that I could like girls and boys... I had Bowie on tv/radio looking and sounding different and making me feel safe for reasons my little kid brain didn't understand yet. I love his music, of course. I can recite Labyrinth by heart, of course. But I want to emphasize that he saved queer lives just by being visible.
  17. Indeed. She's bigger now but it's impossible to get her to stay still for a picture.
  18. Here is our new critter Valis. (BTW, if you get the reference, you are a huge nerd.) http://i.imgur.com/E6VmFPc.jpg
  19. Last Halloween, I made a headpiece by sewing a bunch of little plastic snakes to a fabric headband and spray-painting it green. Add some green eyeshadow and lipstick and you get Medusa!
  20. I loved his 70s and 80s stuff and then was kinda meh about everything else. Just picked up Joyland last week and it was fine. Had a couple of clever unexpected moments. I think I'm all Kinged out because I can't even get myself to pick up Dr. Sleep.
  21. This is, by a landslide, my favourite comic series. The boy and I dressed up as Jesse and Preacher for our first Halloween together and quoted it in our wedding vows!
  22. Almost done with my binge rewatch. There are three moments that always stand out to me: 1. Really early on, when the gang goes to the country club to discover the "intent and persuasion of one Miss Lara Perkins". 2. The 17 Reasons Why sculpture. 3. Right before the Lez Girls cast party gets interrupted by Dawn DEnbo (and her lover Cindy) when they're all singing The JAckson 5's "I Want You Back".
  23. We "sing" the Six Feet Under theme. The dog does not like it.
