  1. I didn't think Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock had romantic chemistry, but they're both so charming that I still enjoyed watching. The surprise Donald Trump cameo is...weird. I remember hearing that he insisted on being included in a movie if one of his properties was used as a location or something. I don't think I've seen anyone mention The Map of Tiny Perfect Things on Amazon. It probably got overshadowed by Palm Springs since it's also a time loop romantic comedy but with teens. It's not as good but it's sweet and I really liked the leads.
  2. I've watched the first 3 episodes of season 2 and while my favorite segment is still season 1's The House of the Head, I've mostly liked them so far. Episode 1's PBS meets the Evil Dead is the best of the bunch, helped by a cameo from Ted Raimi, a Deadite teddy bear, and its fun take on Bob Ross and other PBS types. It was also fun to see Keith David and Hellraiser's Ashley Laurence pop up in episode 2 even though it was in a lesser entry.
  3. I just finished watching this and really enjoyed it. It's undeniably ridiculous, but I was in the mood for a popcorn movie and this fit the bill. And at 80+ minutes, it doesn't overstay its welcome. Also for such a bonkers movie, this has a weirdly generic title. I had to look it up a few times to remember what it was.
  4. Jim Caviezel drops in on right-wing conspiracy theorists to spout a lil' conspiracy theory of his own I hadn't heard of the "adrenochroming of children" conspiracy theory before and wasn't able to access the linked Wired article that expands on its old and ugly history, but I couldn't help being reminded of the Children of Earth season of Torchwood. WTF
  5. Brett Goldstein's natural voice surprised me, similar to Stephanie Beatriz's (Rosa on Brooklyn Nine-Nine).
  6. IIRC this goes back to a conversation Amy and Jonah had in the first episode when he talks about finding beauty everywhere/in everything or something which she kind of rolls her eyes at and says that's hard for her to do when all her days are basically the same and she marks time by the seasonal decorations like the glow-in-the dark stars that she has to change out. He surprises her at the end of the episode by secretly sticking a bunch of the stars on the ceiling. I think there were a few other callbacks, like when Amy notices but decides not to bother stopping a kid pooping in one of the aisles. Also, I assume Mateo was referring to Jonah when he mentioned during his interview seeing a Scott Baio lookalike & probable meth user hanging around outside. I remember him treating Jonah like a rival in the early episodes because they started at the same time. I loved the finale and am happy with the peeks into the various characters' futures, though I have a hard time believing Dina would keep Marcus on. But whatever, it was lovely overall.
  7. Nico Santos did a great job of conveying his barely concealed disgust through the mask when trying to suck up to Carol. The reporter's response to Jonah's impassioned speech ("Emotions are running high here, preventing people from staying on topic") also cracked me up. And the customer flipping an aisle's directional arrow sticker around--ha but also ugh.
  8. I struggled with Capitaine Marleau, which is a shame because I like the premise but the execution didn't work for me. I enjoyed The Paris Murders (aka Profilage) on Amazon Prime, though. As a police procedural, it doesn't really break the mold, but the plots are interesting enough, the cast is likable, and the setting is a nice change from the US & UK crime dramas I usually watch.
  9. It's too bad the video doesn't seem to be online because Jamie Dornan's solo in Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar is a real standout moment, and I say that as someone who wasn't a fan of his. You can get an idea of its fun, goofy vibe in this clip from a different song in the movie:
  10. I've really enjoyed Parker Young and Adhir Kalyan in some of their previous roles. It's too bad they weren't able to find a better project.
  11. I just started reading The Phantom Tollbooth: I haven't related to a character so much since Martha Wells's Murderbot.
  12. I was so excited to see this show up on Hulu. It's funny how Alice Wetterlund (Kelly) and Michael Cassidy (Jonathan) have both turned up on Resident Alien. I gave that series pilot a shot, but it really just made me miss People of Earth.
  13. Well, I feel like a dumbass. I guess my distrust of PBS since finding out they edit Endeavour episodes got the better of me. Now I'm wondering if I missed other stuff in the show I thought might've been cut out. In James's birthday episode, he starts to cough/sneeze a lot and I thought that was building to something but I don't remember anything coming of it. And in the Christmas special, we don't see any scenes in the church apart from Helen sitting in there by herself after calling off the wedding, correct?
  14. Oh, dang, I don't know how I missed it. And this is one of the rare times when I wasn't doing something else while watching tv. Was it a blink-and-you-miss it scene? From the way they talked about it, even bringing it up in the Christmas special, I figured it must've been a decent length.
  15. I just watched the series on DVD and am wondering if scenes have been cut. In the second episode, James and Helen mention a few times how they ran into one another earlier when he was swimming but it's not shown. That seemed like a significant moment to have happened off-screen. There are a few other moments or threads throughout the series that seemed to get short shrift or left out entirely. The episodes on the disc run about 52mins but look like they're 60mins on the Channel 5 website though presumably at least some of that time is because of ads.
  16. I hope you've resolved the problem by now. I was able to use my CBS login on the Paramount+ site on my computer without any issue. The CBS app had already been swapped out for the new one on my Roku and I didn't even have to login again. If nothing else, at least the launch has been smoother than HBO Max's.
  17. I was disappointed to see that apart from the URL and logo, not much else seems to have changed now that CBS All Access is Paramount+. I don't know why they didn't wait to launch until they had more content to offer. I'm looking forward to watching the Real World New York reunion show, but that's about it.
  18. I enjoyed Don Cheadle jokingly giving Jason Sudeikis the wrap-it-up signal and Ramy Youssef cracking up at how unprepared and out of it Sudeikis seemed (not too surprising considering it was the middle of the night in England where he's working on Ted Lasso season 2).
  19. I was reminded of this topic when I saw the news that a sequel to District 9 is in the works. I'm skeptical about it actually happening but would definitely be interested in seeing it. I know they've gotten mixed responses, but I'd love to see more Star Trek movies with the current cast. I also hope we get the third Happy Death Day movie that Christopher Landon said he has planned out. And since it just showed up on Hulu, I'm still upset that we'll never get more Dredd movies with Karl Urban and Olivia Thirlby.
  20. Ha, I was going to say maybe it doesn't matter because there doesn't seem to be much I really want to watch anyway. At least I'll finally be able to finish Another Period, watch Corporate and various Star Treks, and revisit Spongebob. I wonder why The Maxx isn't available when other MTV cartoons like Aeon Flux and Clone High are. Anyway, I hope they beef up their movie selection next month because it's kind of lacking right now IMO.
  21. There's a "Keep Watching" section on the homepage that just lists things I've already started. But when I click onto a show or movie page, there doesn't seem to be a way to add it to a queue to save and watch later.
  22. I just signed up for CBS All Access to take advantage of the $30 annual subscription deal and didn't realize there's no watchlist feature (unless I'm missing something). What an irritating and bizarre omission. I hope that's something they add when they rebrand as Paramount+.
  23. Lucasfilm says they don't plan to recast: Behind Disney's Firing of 'Mandalorian' Star Gina Carano
  24. The third season has started on Hulu. Harrow's endless family drama is becoming really tiresome.
