So Trevor Bauer leaves with blood gushing from his finger and the Toronto fans cheer?!? Stay classy, guys. I assume beer cans are being lined up now.

I have been saying that if people were as outraged over the reason he isn't standing as they are over the fact he isn't standing, Colin would already be standing again.
  3. I wonder if there is a public/private distinction: you can't curse because other people could hear it and be offended, but you would watch your porn in private.
  4. In the last episode Jimmy cleaned it up so that Ray could have friends over. Hubby and I don't qualify for any government rehab projects on our house. It's a fast jump to families being responsible for 100% of the cost so we would be more likely to DIY. The family fun day is a struggle for us. We try to balance it all out, and there are many things they get to do because they have a brother with special needs (the zoo has a dedicated night for families or the hospital has a picnic for families). That scene again is where Jimmy shines by pulling the mom aside and telling her the kids need to see her happy.
  5. I tried to watch Raising Arizona once and didn't make it too far, but I do remember liking the scene when the adoption agency points out his criminal record and Nicholas Cage says with Holly Hunter being in law enforcement they can give the child a balanced look so the baby can choose for him or herself. That is one of the movies that made me realize I don't particularly like movies described as "quirky."
  6. They didn't say, but I assumed it has to be positioned "just so" to get in/out and we were supposed to think the steam from the hot shower might have caused problems, too. Another great episode that hit home for us on many levels. My favorite part was JJ hitting Kenneth's hand and Kenneth telling him not to shout.
  7. Any real life pet peeves that you're hoping the show will address? My biggest one is people who use the wheelchair ramp as a loading zone and park right in front of it. Usually the medical transport vehicles are the worst offenders. You park to take your child into a doctor's appointment only to find that the ramp is blocked. How difficult is it to pull your car ahead of the ramp so that others can use it while you are helping your passenger exit? Drives me crazy and I would like to live vicariously through Maya's rant.
  8. We didn't love the pilot and second episode. They were just fine, not great. I don't know why I tried again the next week - certainly didn't plan to. I had to talk hubby into trying the third episode and now we are all in. I hope some others give it a second glance. KB has really stepped her game up, and Chidi is a revelation.

Nail biting here, too. Hubby much more serene than I am.
  10. "Rubbish" should have tipped them off, but we are talking about a group of guys who didn't know why there was a key lying in front of JJ. I think she was safe! Actually, I had hoped that Kenneth and she would've shared a wink because he figured it out.

    I need the bobble head!
  12. This show makes me so happy! Dylan's subplot was the highlight, though I love the Jimmy/Ray bond. Actually, it was all good. "I don't know who JJ is, but I'm sorry!" Best line.
  13. Given their business acumen, I'm guessing they sold their story for a couple of plane tickets and a night at a fancy hotel where she can recover from the trauma of her life. If I were Candy, I would monogram any gift to the grandchildren (so it couldn't be returned for cash) and make sure any gift I made is only for the grandkids. "No one has eaten because you can't afford groceries? I am picking the grandkids up so that they can eat with me. You two are on your own. I hear Raman noodles are yummy." No more freebies for these two.
  14. Natalie's flat affect is throwing me off. Jackie's voice was a little whispery, but warm and engaging. Natalie's not so much.

LOL. When we saw the Indians' lineup for the first game after they clinched, our only question was what Carlos Santana did to annoy Tito because he was the only regular in the game.
  16. I think Kenneth is going to get the training; I assumed the principal was going to blackmail her brother the superintendent to get the funding. I sense the money aspect of CP will be hand-waved, which isn't realistic but would certainly take some of the laughs out of the show.
  17. I had to comment on this because when my mom had heart surgery, the surgeon was one of the best in his field and had a wonderful bedside manner, but even he described himself to her as a bad boyfriend who would basically drop her after the surgery and never contact her again. Romano on ER was a complex, amazing character perfectly played by Paul McCrane. He didn't deserve the exit ER gave him, but when they knew what to do with him, he was wonderful. I don't have high hopes for this show to be able to recreate anyone even close to Romano.
  18. When I hear the word "idiot," I think "foolish" not "special needs." I know the term was once used to classify people with cognitive issues, but I never think of it in those terms. I thought that part of the show was silly and rude and didn't work at all, but to be fair Jimmy quickly realized the daughter misunderstood his explanation of how they treat the neighbors. Now the sensible thing to do would be to run outside, tell the pizza delivery man that they made a mistake and to deliver the pizzas to their house, and apologize to the neighbor for the inconvenience. However, this is a comedy show and sensibility can't show up 10 minutes into the episode.
  19. I hope this is going to be a hit with the mainstream audience because hubby and I are crying with laughter and don't want to lose it. My favorite part was the physical therapist analyzing Ray's gait, and we texted our son's PT to make sure she's watching. I actually choked on my ice cream I was laughing so hard at that. We've also hit the teenage years, and stepping back is the hardest part - not because I want to be the center of his life, but because I want to wrap him in cotton and not let anything or anyone else hurt him. Again, I loved Maya and Jimmy's conversation about whether to fire Kevin when he told her to step back and think about why she wanted him fired. This show is so cathartic for us; please let it air for many years!

With Kluber on the mound, I have high hopes for tonight, roamyn!
  22. I wondered if they had a hanging placard on the rear view mirror that the woman couldn't see. In our state they only add the symbol to the license plate if the car is registered in our son's name. Ours hangs from the mirror, but we aren't supposed to drive with it up. I assumed Dad was dealing with placard while Mom was operating the lift.
  23. I think the license plate said "she nutz"
  24. We laughed hard and are sad it's only 30 minutes. Maya may be OTT at times, but I sense she will get to say what we all have wanted to at times. (Yes, I once had to explain on a train ride at the zoo that my son in a wheelchair shouldn't be referred to as luggage). I loved the shower conversation; hubby and I check in with each other all the time on how we handled something. I loved everything about the pilot! "Crippled?" "Oh, Kevin. Sweet Kevin." still chuckling and hope it can hold up
