Summer Baking Championship - General Discussion
GeorgiaRai replied to RealityCheck's topic in Summer Baking Championship
That was not even fun to watch. Watermelon dessert is a no for me. The bonus flavor made it a heck no, and the feta made it a hell no. I could barely stand to watch the judges eat it. ::hork:: The gimmicks have taken over the baking and Jesse's role gets goofier by the day. (Yep, I went there!) I was happy to see a summer version of the show, but it's been a letdown so far. ("It" as in the show, not necessarily the bakers.)- 570 replies

Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore
GeorgiaRai replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
I think they bought the property on March 10, 2023. But, IMO, not all kids are traumatized by or experience setback from a change of schools mid-term. This is just not something I'm going to condemn Christine for. -
This is the equivalent of the "Ultimate Royal Grande Burrito Supreme" titles from Toddlers & Tiaras threads in years gone by. Thanks for the lol.

Five Below is a chain of stores selling (mostly) items that cost $5 or less. My grands love the Squishmallows, too. And as someone with a not-too-common first name growing up, I'm glad Ysabel now has a namesake!

I'm usually a hard no on Erin Cahill but watched this one (Hearts in the Game) anyway and was pleasantly surprised. Not blown away by any means, but I watched to the end and liked it - the leads, the supporting characters and the storyline - overall. I'm more likely to watch this again over Picture of Her, The Wedding Cottage, or Love in the Maldives.

Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore
GeorgiaRai replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
I don't have a problem believing that Christine needed to move quickly because (as was reported by other places, not just on the show) she got an offer very soon after listing her house. That offer fell through so the sale was delayed, but I wouldn't expect her to move back into a house she'd already vacated. She could've met David any time over the last 18 months & avoided making "dating" comments on social media for a variety of reasons (common sense being one!) I think it was smart (not suspicious) for him to create new media-ready social accounts before the relationship became public. Anything posted previously was probably meant for family & acquaintances; he doesn't owe fans (or anti-fans) access to his personal history. I got divorced at around the age Christine is now and by far prefer single life, so her choice is not one I'd make. But if she's found what she wants - and it seems she has - good for her. As long as she pays her wedding vendors. -
Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore

I'm not upset by any fake timeline, or the chance that Christine met/knew/conversed with/developed feelings for David before publicly declaring herself divorced, or that she makes decisions for herself and Truely without consulting the internet, or that she may have purchased a house and moved, or that she chooses what she shares on social media and when, or that she might get some joy out of flaunting her new look/life/love in Kody's face. I do, however, find her last post distasteful because it definitely reads like she's looking for wedding handouts. It's possible, I guess, that her intention was to promote vendors since she specifically says "local" and that level of publicity might be a boost for them. Unfortunately, the way it's worded just sounds like a search for freebies or, at best, quid pro quo. Ick. -
Spring Baking Championship - General Discussion

Random thought, but I think it'd be fun if the "advantage" minutes were tagged on at the END of the cook time instead of the beginning. -
I watched When We Last Spoke (again!) on UPTV today. I love this movie! I have no idea where it was first released, and I only discovered it within the last few months, but it's one I will watch again. And again.

Well, that's a shocker! Interesting to read through it. Home page says the site was " launched by Robyn, Meri, Christine, Janelle and Kody Brown", but when looking around, I only see Robyn mentioned, (i.e. "be the first to view new designs by Robyn", "the Claddagh has special meaning to Robyn" etc.) Maybe it was always that way and I just never looked before.
-
I completely agree! I liked it SO much - the story, the actors, the acting - just my kind of movie! But when it jumped to "8 months later", I was scratching my head. Even though I had watched intently, I figured something must've slipped by me that explained the ending. Oh well...I enjoyed 98% of it, so I put it in the "win" column.

Christine Brown Woolley: Nacho Sister Wife Anymore
GeorgiaRai replied to Rhondinella's topic in Sister Wives
I assumed Christine announced her dating status because it likely would've been made public anyway. I wouldn't be surprised if people watch for this sort of thing, so why wait until some other site posts the "news" first? I also assumed that Christine's Insta posts are moments she's comfortable showing the public, while the rest of her life is spent doing normal mom/daughter things with Truley (even if she's also dating). I don't see any indication that she's neglecting Truley or bringing random men into their lives without giving it enough (or any) thought. Now maybe Truley does attend some functions and/or pose for photos she isn't thrilled about, which seems absolutely... typical teen behavior. -
I wonder if she feels pressure to SAY she's pursuing a career outside the home. If* she's constantly asked about college/career plans, she might feel uncomfortable or embarrassed saying she doesn't have those aspirations. Maybe being a wife & mom is all she wants right now but she just doesn't have the confidence to say so publicly. *I say "if" because I honestly don't know. All I know about the Brown kids is what's posted here.

I took her post to mean that when they chose her insurance plan, they thought this surgery would be a covered benefit. When Gwen was ready to move ahead, they found out it wasn't going to be covered, & Christine offered to pay out-of-pocket so Gwen could get it done. I buy my own insurance and research it every year before selecting a plan. Even so, I'm never sure what any company is actually going to cover until I file a claim. Some are great...some truly suck.

Lifetime Original Movies - General Discussion
GeorgiaRai replied to omgsowicked's topic in TV Movies
I thought The Hammer was a new series & last night was the pilot, so I didn't pay as much attention as I should have, thinking these were the beginnings of story lines that would play out in coming weeks! About halfway through, I caught on. lol It was a fun watch - I love Reba & MP. -
Correct. Which is why I don't think there is a big "running from the law and/or debt" motivation behind their frequent moves or that they're keeping a bunch of illegal financial secrets. But...anything is possible, I suppose.

The vacation rental was a great idea & the best solution for everyone involved. None of the 4 ladies are host options - Janelle & Christine because of logistics; Meri & Robyn because of their personalities. The asshat only whined about it because he's an asshat.
-
Deeds, mortgages, bankruptcies, liens, judgments, tax executions & collection lawsuits are all public record. Seems to me if they exist, they would've been found & publicized by now? Other reality stars have been charged/convicted, so I doubt the Browns would be spared if there were legitimate allegations. (But maybe I'm naive!)

Do we know if Kody was ever as direct with Meri in person as he was in his talking heads? That's what I took from her comment - that she knew he didn't love her but didn't know he was vocalizing wishes that she'd find another man and move on. And even if he had said something like that to her, to be faced with the airing of it on a show episode had to have hurt. I don't think anyone deserves that. This may not match up with reality at all, but in my head, I assumed Christine had to make a public announcement because she sold her house & moved to Utah in real time long before the show caught up. People / press really do follow those things and wouldn't hesitate to blast it on the internet - I assumed Christine wanted to put the info out on her own terms. With Janelle & Meri, there wouldn't necessarily be any outside indicators when or if either of them "left Kody" so no need to get ahead of internet buzz.

Oh, great. Now, for as long as I remember this show, there will be a gaping hole in my heart where an exploding bus should be.

An "a-ha" moment for me today, that everyone else may already know: Blake Shelton & his mother wrote the song Time for Me to Come Home. Since then, Blake has produced 5 Hallmark Christmas movies with unrelated stories "inspired by" the song. I guess naming the movies this way is to clearly identify them as Blake's productions, but I find it confusing (and not very creative).

For cheesy alternate-reality/sliding-door themed Christmas tv movies, I much prefer Lifetime's 2012 All About Christmas Eve (Haylie Duff) to Hallmark's A Tale of Two Christmases. I left ATO2C on till it ended but quit actively trying to watch very early on. I only know Chandler Massey from Last Stop, Christmas - which I like & have watched several times.

"That people" is ME!!! This is absolutely my kind of Christmas movie (others on my list are The Christmas Secret, A Season for Miracles, A Christmas Wish, November Christmas - you get the idea!) I've liked several of the new 2022 movies, but this is definitely my favorite (so far.) It's exciting to me that 3 movies* have made me misty-eyed, and it's not even December yet! ::happy dance:: *Time for Him (Tyler Hynes) to Come Home for Christmas; Inventing the Christmas Prince; My Southern Family Christmas.
