  1. I've always thought Julia Louis-Dreyfus WAS a character.
  2. Don't forget, too, that Emma should still hold a grudge against him for pressuring Neal into selling her out and letting her go to prison. While I could see that she'd eventually have forgiven Neal for that, she shouldn't let adult August off so easily.
  3. You're reading history backwards. Kristen Bauer van Straten played the role first on Once. Angelina's movie came out much later. The show has simply been waiting for the actress who originated the part on Once to be available to reprise it (since the viewers appear to hate recasting; see Robin Hood and the idea to recast Jefferson).
  4. That was, in fact, a Disney animated feature film titled -- wait for it -- "Hercules." It was released in 1996, if I remember correctly. It was a slight variation of the Hercules story (in actual mythology, Hercules [original Greek Herakles] was the son of Zeus and Alcmene, and his mortal enemy was not his uncle Hades, but his aunt/stepmother Hera, who hated him because he was another one of Zeus's illegitimate children resulting from an extramarital affair, and who constantly tried to kill him as a result.) The movie changed the myth so that Hercules was the biological son of Zeus and Hera who had his powers and immortality stolen by Hades, who wanted to conquer Mt. Olympus and needed to get its strongest champion out of the way by turning him into a mortal in exile.
  5. Nope. Will & Grace used that line a few years earlier, as I already pointed out upthread.
  6. Nope. Her reflexes were no match for Rumpel's. He froze her before she could zap him with a light ball.
  7. What's funny is reading the comments -- her fans flipped out over the fact that she's with Colin!
  8. Hmm -- it sounds as though the show is going for its own take on Kara's history in a way that will actually make sense (something which the comic books never have been able to do in any satisfactory manner!).
  9. I know she's female, but I'd also like to see the Jabberwocky brought over from Wonderland. Just imagine how the gang would handle a villain whose power was using people's own fears against them.
  10. Congratulations -- you just won the Internet for today! :)
  11. And if the show ever does Sherlock Holmes (as supposedly was the original intention with Graham), Professor Moriarty is right there, even though in the Sherlock Holmes series of stories, Moriarty was actually just a one-off (i.e., he really only appeared in one story). He was simply so memorable that people always thought he was a recurring villain.
  12. The explanation for Regina is that she was chosen for the specific job of casting the original Dark Curse. Because of his ability to see the future, Rumpel knew that Regina would be easy to manipulate into casting the curse, and that she wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice the heart of the thing she loved most (her father) in order to cast it. That's the reason that he gave Zelena for rejecting her as a candidate in favor of Regina (because the thing that Zelena loved most was Rumpel himself), and that's what triggered Zelena's jealous rage over Regina's favored status.
  13. At least it wasn't Judy Garland's version. That one is the most depressing, thoughts-of-suicide-inducing version of the song I've ever heard.
  14. Actually, she did say, when originally asked about doing the show, precisely that -- that she was too big a star to need the show (she IS an Oscar winner, after all!). In fact, she seemed almost insulted by the question. But that was long before Chaz did the show, so perhaps she's softened her stance since she was so supportive of his doing it.
  15. If I remember correctly, "Broken" (the episode that introduced Aurora, Phillip, and Mulan) was the episode in which it was stated that Aurora's mother was the original Sleeping Beauty. Evidently Maleficent can hold a grudge even longer than Regina can!
  16. I finally got around to watching this on Hulu last night, and I didn't think that Allison Williams was so bad, although granted, her inconsistent accent could have been better. Either Peter is English or he isn't -- pick one, please. However, I do agree that Christopher Walken really seemed to be sleepwalking his portrayal of Hook. Hook is the type of villain who is supposed to be larger than life; if you're not chewing the scenery just a bit (as Mr. Walken most definitely wasn't), you're just not doing it right. I absolutely loved the lullaby duet between Wendy and her mother. Both actresses have lovely voices, and they blended together in beautiful harmony. It was my favorite number in the entire show. Here's hoping that The Music Man does better next year!
  17. Well, theoretically, Henry should have inherited a portion of Emma's powers (remember, he's really only half-mortal; his mother's magic is innate, not acquired by external means, as Rumpel's was), so I figure it's just a matter of time before it starts manifesting itself. Look out, Storybrooke!
  18. That had to have been a shout-out to a line from Will & Grace: "Karen Walker! I thought I caught a whiff of gin and regret!" It was one of the best insults that Beverly Leslie had ever lobbed in Karen's direction.
  19. Script tease from Adam. Evidently, Marian is no dummy: http://t.co/tRhMaCLHIT
  20. The thing is, she knew she was the eye candy, too. As she once put it in an interview, she knew exactly what she was in for when she went for her first costume fitting. Still, she sold the hell out of the character, to the point that it really was hard for me to get used to seeing her play other popular characters on other shows after Voyager ended. And by the way, if you're not following her on Twitter, you should. She's funny and insightful, and she can trade banter with the best of them, especially with her BFFs William Shatner and Tom Bergeron!
  21. What would you make of it if it were still done male/male only, as is commonly the case in Argentina even today? Would you consider that a referendum on homosexuality or same-sex marriage and object to it on those grounds? My point, of course, is that it's all in the eye of the beholder, and mileage is definitely going to vary here.
  22. The Viennese Waltz was good, but those costumes were about as Dutch as spaghetti and meatballs. I've seen the actual Dutch version of SCD (it used to be my favorite version, in fact), and I can tell you that the pros and the judges in the Netherlands would cringe in horror at the sight of those "Dutch" getups! Also, I agree with James that the extra dancers really don't help. I know they were considered necessary at Blackpool because the ballroom floor is so much larger there, and it's difficult for a single couple to really fill it to great effect, but here, they not only distracted from the couples, they actually hindered them (Jake's mishap with the Argentine Tango being Exhibit A).
