  1. Putting on the mod hat to request more focus on the Conners and less on MASH/history of spinoffs. Thanks!
  2. Opening with a post funeral scene versus opening with a time jump - the former would let us meet Jerry and Andy before they sweep them off screen again. The latter would probably be a bit more practical for the comedy aspect. Honestly, if they don't at least let us know where those 2 are, they haven't been listening to the fans at all. And they won't be able to blame Roseanne for it this time.
  3. Ratings-wise it seems successful. Now I just need to force myself to finish watching it. :-) https://deadline.com/2018/06/yellowstone-premiere-ratings-paramount-network-1202415767/
  4. The leads - Roseanne, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, and Sara Gilbert were all going to get paid for 10 episodes at 250,000 - 300,000 (the number varies in reports I've seen) no matter what. If the new show makes any money at all, they made the right choice. If it tanks, then they've thrown good money after bad. But that's the gamble networks take with shows all the time. ETA: I'm not sure about Roseanne. They might have been able to get out of paying her if they fired her for cause. But no doubt it would have ended up in court if they didn't. Whatever they paid to make her go away was probably worth it for a fresh start with the spin-off.
  5. I believe the articles have been saying that she has given up any claim to benefit financially from the spin-off, so I'd say no. (For a nice multi-million payout, most likely.) The Writers Guild has said the new show will still need to carry her "based on a character created by Roseanne Barr" credit, so she'll still have some presence.
  6. I have no clue how the audience will receive the spin-off but I'm going to check it out. I thought a lot of the revival's best scenes were ones that Roseanne wasn't even in. Dan/DJ and Becky/Darlene really stood out. I don't think the writes will have any trouble filling out the extra time the other characters will get now.
  7. And it's official... https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/21/business/media/roseanne-barr-spin-off.html
  8. I wish they had gone a bit earlier than the CaRidge era. (Though we'll get to see Misunderstanding Night again, right? I may have to analyze that frame by frame this time.) For those who don't have Amazon Prime, you can still watch free but with ads.
  9. I think a lot of people dvr to watch on their own time - including me. Hoping to get a chance to watch this weekend. Soapy isn't a problem for me but one of the reviews compared it to a zoning committee meeting, which doesn't sound nearly soapy enough. :-)
  10. It might be time for a bug report, as I can't seem to make it disappear. http://forums.previously.tv/forum/698-bugs/
  11. CNN wasn't impressed but I'll probably still give it a shot. I've been known to watch shows just for the scenery. Plus I haven't seen Jill Hennessy in anything (that I watch) for ages. https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/19/entertainment/yellowstone-review/index.html
  12. My PTV bookmark goes straight to my custom forum list but I just checked and Roseanne is still under R if I peek at all shows, and on the main show list with all the colored blocks. If there was some kind of "hot" list, I'm sure it dropped off because the number of posts in the forum has dropped precipitously.
  13. RE's first scenes as Nicole were actually promising and it went downhill from there. Maybe a rough start for Emma is better?
  14. Yes, maybe watching from the beginning will help me figure out all that political conspiracy stuff with Stilson? I never did understand that part. The 4th episode was pretty entertaining too, with the WWII romance and triangle. And the last scene twist. :-) Also liked that Johnny couldn't help his own emotions getting tangled up in it.
  15. Thanks to real life, I'm only up to S01:E05 but it's kind of weird, my husband was actually watching 12 Angry Men while I was watching Unreasonable Doubt on my computer. 12 Angry Men may be better (okay - Henry Fonda, Lee J Cobb, Jack Klugman) but I've got Jim Byrnes... so I'm happy.
  16. Cool. I've now been watching B&B long enough for my first year to be retro material.
  17. This is not the place to debate whether or not Roseanne's offenses were been blown out of proportion. We all have our opinions but pushing back at other people for theirs violates the "Be Civil" rule.
  18. I hope so. Hunter Tylo looks so fragile, TK could probably break something accidentally.
  19. Mal treats Kaylee like a little sister. The whole crew does. Without her I doubt there would be quite as strong a bond among the crew. I wish Tim Minear would do something sci-fi/space opera-ish again.
  20. I thought we learned all that we needed to about Bester, that he was incompetent. And the bolded part... pretty sure easy is an outmoded term even today. Our intro to Kaylee shows she is cheerful, enthusiastically, unapologetically sexual and an intuitive, (truly) genius mechanic. I like that Mal isn't fazed, just hires her on the spot. This is my favorite episode of Firefly and one of my top 10 favorite tv episodes ever. (Only Blake (Blakes 7) and Z'hadum (B5) might rank higher, depending on my mood.)
  21. Bad acting has always been a part of soaps - if that was the only thing that was wrong with B&B, I wouldn't complain. The thing that makes it practically unwatchable so often is the writing and the pacing. And considering how often bad writing is a soap staple, maybe for me it comes down to pacing. Actors disappear for weeks and months at a time, interesting plot lines just end with little or no explanation or are resolved with insulting stupidity. Most of this could be fixed with a whiteboard, some sticky notes and someone who cares.
  22. I didn't think about that. The Roku Channel had way more commercials than watching it on Tubi in the browser but I thought it was the site difference, not the format used. I rarely sit and watch the tv, so that's better for me anyway.
  23. I recently came across The Dead Zone after adding the Roku Channel to my Roku. I remember watching the last couple of seasons during it's first run in but never saw it from the beginning, so I watched the first couple this week. I'll probably plug away at it. Though I switched to watching on TubiTV. And I'd forgotten that David Ogden Stiers was a regular.
  24. I rarely watch dvds, since I do most of my tv viewing either on my tablet or phone. So I was really disappointed that Amazon Prime didn't have it. A lot of times when it leaves Netflix you can often get it there. Though I suppose $12 per season (SD) isn't too bad and they're commercial free. But until I decide if I'm going to keep watching, I'll take the commercials and watch it free. :) https://tubitv.com/series/1939/the_dead_zone
  25. Right now all 6 seasons of The Dead Zone are available free on the Roku Channel and TubiTv. (They each have commercials, though there seem to be more of them on the Roku Channel.)
