  1. During interviews for the Roseanne revival season they said that DJ grew up and married the girl he didn't want to kiss. So she is *that* Geena. It would be nice to get some backstory on how they got together, though.
  2. I believe that the first time they met Larry was next to his vintage car. Pretty sure it was the car that first attracted her interest and that Larry was just weird enough to intrigue her. Almost like a challenge. And when Megan moved back East to get her doctorate, there was a one liner somewhere about their relationship not having time or distance limitations. (Paraphrasing madly and possibly inaccurately.) ETA: I might be imagining it but I also thought Megan once kind of pointed to the ocean of men in the office when someone brought the subject of Larry up. He was different than the men she knew and sometimes that's enough. (We are in the middle of a Leverage rewatch, so the details tend to fade.)
  3. I love Diane Farr and have since Roswell but I know what you mean to have one character that just irritates you so much it impacts how you experience a show. (For me, that would be Wrenn Schmidt on PoI. I'm sure she's a lovely person but...)
  4. I think the brighter colors are new, though the styling seems similar. Don't most people dress a little more conservatively in a new job, until they get to know their coworkers? And now he knows that they know he's gay...
  5. We have already seen Becky making an effort to change, with the agreement to not drink while she was on the job with Dan. It's not much but at least it's something. And this is still The Conners. I can't imagine they will completely sugarcoat an older, single woman having a baby with no money, a crappy job, etc.
  6. If Becky were my daughter or sister or friend, I would tell her that a baby is never a cure for whatever problems you have in your life. But this isn't a planned pregnancy and she's been told that she probably would never be able to have kids. That's starting in a different place story-wise, especially on a sitcom.
  7. While Becky and Dan had the best moments, I thought Michael Fishman did a fairly good job with DJ in this episode. I do hope we find out how he and Geena ended up together. (Maybe two kids from Lanford bumped into each other on a military base far from home?) The mall scenes felt off and I wondered if the questions were edited. Though the one about property taxes and the arts and pretzel guy's response seemed pretty typical. I know he fits the "Vote No" contingent when library and school projects come up on the ballot in my area.
  8. I wonder if it was a mistake to hold this one back when it so obviously was the follow-on to the season opener. We could have really used those scenes before now, especially the one between Dan and Becky. I got the feeling that Geena is back from overseas permanently. They didn't say explicitly that she wasn't going back but it seemed implied. ETA: Is it bad that I laughed at Darlene's "Say hi to Mom" when Dan was going off to ride his motorcycle?
  9. Not sure why, but I always assumed that Mark died close to the time of younger Mark's birth, as David didn't really know his son and the older Mark's death was the cause of his downward spiral. (And Becky's.) It would be nice of the show to give us some more facts about it. Maybe we'll get some info with the upcoming focus on Becky.
  10. Becky was rudderless until she was approached for the surrogacy then that nascent motivation to change her life sputtered when it fell through. It wasn't until Dan vetoed her working and drinking that she's made any effort since. (That we've seen, anyway.) If someone needs external motivation and accountability to change, then a baby might well have a very positive impact on her life. (Has anyone ever read any of Gretchen Rubin's books about the 4 tendencies? I can see Becky as an Obliger.)
  11. @BeachDays Did they tell you which episode this was or when it is scheduled to air?
  12. I could accept Geena getting pregnant as unexpected and life altering (for them). Right now they are just scraping by, she obviously is invested in her military career and a baby would really upset things for them.
  13. I just Googled the success rate of the morning after pill and it says up to 89% effective if taken within 3 day, 95% if taken withing 24 hours. I guess that does leave room for Harris. Drat. https://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwtv/article/Scoop-Coming-Up-on-a-New-Episode-of-THE-CONNERS-on-ABC-Tuesday-November-20-2018-20181105
  14. Does your cable company offer access to the tv anywhere type apps? Or log-ins to network websites? Philo (the online streaming service) has The History Channel. I believe they have a one week free trial. If it isn't available on demand, you should probably be able to log in to the Discovery website. https://try.philo.com/
  15. Roseanne Barr is not on topic here. She has her own topic in the original show forum.
  16. The episode opens 3 weeks after Roseanne died, presumably of a heart attack in her sleep. They later find out she had taken an accidental overdose of pain meds.
  17. Not sure that's a discussion for this episode thread but the original 2nd episode (Separation of Church and Dan) looks to be more Geena-centric, so maybe that will tell us more. (Airs the 13th, I think.) While I wasn't crazy about Becky taking candy from a little kid, I did like Geena being mischievous by demanding her half. It's nice to see she has a good relationship with both of DJ's sisters.
  18. Claudia Black as Max and Isabel's (adopted) mother? This might have made my day. https://tvline.com/2018/10/25/roswell-new-mexico-spoilers-claudia-black-cast-the-cw-reboot/
  19. The writing for him isn't great but I do like him. The show needs some younger characters to balance out the older ones.
  20. We appreciate all your comments but since there are no transgender characters (that we know of) on The Conners, the subject is not on topic. It's time to move on. Thanks.
