Thanks for the Shirley updates. Somehow I missed them before asking about them in the other thread. As I mentioned over there, I find House of Knives to be kind of hard to watch, as it feature Shirley before she knew she had cancer and Johnathon Sawyer before he got sober. Plus it is an actively bad show.

Yeah, I saw the first episode of that (very bad) show--it features Shirley before she knew she had cancer and Jonathon Sawyer before he got sober. Kinda hard to watch. It was filmed in 2023, I think. That's actually what made me wonder if anyone had seen anything from her recently.

Was James the one that fell into the orchestra pit? And was Jackson the photo bomber? -
Has anyone heard anything recently about how Shirley Chung is doing?

I thought I had not watched this because I did not remember it. Went back to it last night and realized that I did watch it, it's just that it put me to sleep. That is how engaged I was with the dumb Minecraft tie-in. Don't care about the game, don't care about the movie, I'm here to watch talented people make pretty desserts. Where's my cane to shake?- 3.1k replies

Didn't say I agree with him; I was just trying to figure out what the association was he was making. -
The one I suggested also has some nonstick properties so it scoops easier, FYI.

Beatrice can go home yesterday. Have all the seats, sweetie.

You comment about chowing down on a sleeve of Ritz made me laugh. I am also Team Antonia but would be happy with Jet. I heard the same thing and was aghast. The interwebs inform me: "While not botanically related, sassafras and okra are both significant ingredients in Creole and Cajun cuisine, with sassafras leaves (ground into filé powder) often used as a substitute for okra as a thickening agent in dishes like gumbo. " So maybe that's where he was going with that? -
I bought two of these very deep boxes and I put less than an inch deep of litter into each of them them (and scoop twice a day--three cats). We had some consultation with a cat behaviorist a few years back when one of our oldsters decided that litter boxes were no place to poop because they stopped manufacturing her favorite litter brand. Putting less litter in was one of the behaviorist's recommendations.

What is the name of the youngest contestant with the sing-song voice on, I think, Gordon's team? She was getting on my last nerve this latest episode. And her pink eyeshadow is unattractive.

I really liked Ying and I am sad she did not get to continue. (And I also hate Mimi's Smokey the Bear hat).

Is the second guy from the left Jed? He really looks like Josh. That is not a compliment.

I have a soft spot for Chris Cosentino because he's a Bay Area guy and very talented, even though I am also not a huge fan of offal (but I'd eat it if he made it). Also, he made the decision for his own mental health to walk away from FN for a while after he was pretty prominent (he was on that show with Aaron Sanchez about spicy food where we learned that Aaron is a huge spice wimp, e,g,) and I respect that. I assume he is back here on his own terms. -

I am guessing the lack of posts on last night's episode meant others found it as boring as I did. I had to watch it on Hulu today after it started late and my DVR cut it off--guessing in Eastern time it might have been preempted. You did not miss much. -

Thanks for this. Paul Feybesse is married to Monique Feybesse, who was a Top Chef contestant in 2022 and they have a bakery here in the Bay Area. I'm interested to see how he does. -
That was some patriarchal infantilizing bullshit. I despise the antiquated custom of asking permission to marry a woman. It strikes me as ridiculous that the whole family has to orchestrate the "perfect proposal." It was like watching people plan a kid's party. The codependence of Baylen and her parents is simply breathtaking. Why didn't they let her take the lead at her own doctor's appointment? She is used to being treated like a child so that is how she behaves.

I did not even know he was sick until two posts up but one site says it is oligodendroglioma, which I read is potentially more survivable than glioblastoma. -

Especially when he adds absolutely nothing and actually detracts? I cringe when I see him talking to talented chefs as though his thoughts add any value whatsoever. He's not good on camera and he brings no perceptible expertise. Guy has coached enough others in the past that surely he must have some idea about this. I don't get it.
