Tori posted on her blog that the cabin renovation show she and Dean and kids starred in premieres tonight. I am going to try not to watch.

I rather enjoyed the death ray look Giada gave to Sarah when Giada came to her station to taste something and Sarah said, "oh, the big spoon, huh?" when Giada used a serving spoon to taste. Sarah would have been melted into the dust if Giada's look actually had the power she was trying to put into that look. Yikes! Sarah can go home anytime now.

Actually, Google has owned YouTube since late 2006.

Oh, iwasish, I think I heard what you did not say. Hee hee. Neigh!

Not sure what they have on Chopped Canada but nothing irks me like so-called grilling shows where they are using a grill pan on the stove. That. is. not. grilling.

She was truly dreadful and she had taste for shite. She spackled on the makeup, too, and ended up looking like a clown. I don't get buying property with someone before you've ever lived with them. She seemed like she would be a PITA to live with. Ack.

House Hunters International - General Discussion
jcbrown replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in House Hunters International
The Easter Island episode was just odd. The couple didn't really seem to have a language in common (he was Swedish and spoke pretty good English; she was from Easter Island and spoke quite broken English). She seemed a bit dim and I don't think they ever said anything about the business he was starting except that it would require Internet access. Then they look at three places and end up staying in the leaky-roofed, Internet-free house built by her family. I don't think I've seen another episode where the HHs decided not to move, after all. And so much for his business, whatever it was. -
Say Yes To The Dress - General Discussion
jcbrown replied to Rhondinella's topic in Say Yes To The Dress
I watched the first episode from Friday with the bride whose cousin was trying to keep her on budget while another entourage member was actively trying to torpedo the budget. WTH was up with the bride's eyebrows? Those were the oddest things I've ever seen. Were they tattooed or did she draw them like that every day? I was fixated on them whenever she was onscreen. The grew-up-in-a-children's-home bride was nice, though. I'm sure the editors used her as a counterpoint to the materialistic gang that could not imagine a dress that "only" cost $3000 could be worth wearing. -
Cottage cheese lasagna was the reason I thought I did not like ricotta until I was an adult and realized that it was not the star of Mom's lasagna. Similarly, I thought parmesan did not taste like anything because the green can doesn't and thought I did not like mayo because all we ever had was Miracle Whip. Growing up in Southern Indiana in the 60s and early 70s was not a culinary mecca. The pet stories here remind me of when my mom was dying from Alzheimer's and was in a hospital bed at home. Her orange kitty (not universally friendly to anyone else) would curl up on her shoulder and purr and it seemed to relax them both. Cats are special. (Dogs may be, too, but my experience is feline.)

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
jcbrown replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Josh makes my teeth start to grind when he starts to pontificate (pretty much, when he opens his mouth). I have a problem with this 24-ish year old uneducated sheltered not-so-bright jerkwad starts to parrot his patriarchal talking points and act like he is oh-so-wise for having fathered 3 kids before turning 25. -
Sometimes I find Jen's nervous laugh noticeable. When I do, I remember that I have a nervous laugh myself and sometimes I wish I did not. I realized in the last decade since losing my mom that I learned the laugh from her and it is both a habit and a defense mechanism. When my own laugh annoys me a bit, I try to hear Mom in it. I give Jen a pass on having a nervous tic in the form of a laugh. I have been snarking on TwoP for a dozen years. I teared up at Zoe in the Easter episode. I don't want to spend my time every week with this family finding fault; I want to enjoy them, so I do.

S01.E07: The Reunion: All Questions Answered
jcbrown replied to Tara Ariano's topic in True Tori [V]
I am not excusing the repulsive Dean but I do think Tori looks like a praying mantis. Dean and his dumbass "trigger!" whenever he does not want to answer a question... I have to think Tori does not want to see how much he is manipulating her. Hope this is not too OT, but at least Derrick's song to propose to Jill Duggar was not as cringeworthy as Dean's piece-o-crap. -
Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events

I'm with you, mimionthebeach. The Southern Poverty Law Center calls them a hate group and that would be enough for me even without reading anything about their positions on issues. I watch this show for snark but am nonetheless troubled by their beliefs and the degree to which JimBoob and his ilk are actively working to support political positions that are absolutely antithetical to mine. -
S01.E07: The Reunion: All Questions Answered

It's something no adult, self-respecting people do, married or not, Tori! The sad thing is--well, among the sad things--I used to like her until she did this famewhore to the Nth show and now I have lost most of the respect I had for her. And Dean's weasely calling "Oh, trigger, can't possibly discuss THAT!" every time things started to veer into Dean-is-a-douchebag territory? Would be funny if not for the four kids they've dragged into this horror show. I do appreciate that Mehran has no use for Dean. -
I hope Jeffrey spent his 10K on therapy if that is his real persona. Good grief. That said, I really liked the woman (name forgotten) who came in second and how dignified and mature she was when she left. She seemed really like-able, and from all the people we've seen on this show who are anything but, I suspect that means something. But who was that first woman who was eliminated? I swear I have seen her on some other reality TV show and it was driving me nuts that I could not remember.

I agree that this was the best episode yet. I think I enjoyed it more than many others because you could tell the contestants respected each other. Way more fun to watch this one than one of the episodes where they are all trash-talking each other.

I was thinking about this yesterday, believe it or not. The FN Star winners whose recipes I make the most often are Dan and Steve from season 1. Their pork loin chili, their albodingas--several recipes of theirs that have entered my regular rotation.

The food looks weird to me, too. Toast with jam, cheese slices, cinnamon rolls, and bacon?

This episode made me tear up several times. I loved seeing the interaction of Bill's mom with the kids. I had no problem with the backpacks with tethers, either.
-
I love this show, too. Last week's episode redeemed an absolutely crappy day for me. They make me smile.

You are not alone in that feeling. I wonder if Jessa is simply in love with the idea of courting and is trying to persuade herself that she has feelings for Ben she may not actually have. To me, that would explain the utter lack of spark between them. If I didn't know of Ben's politics, I would think he is a nice young man. I hope she has some feelings for him that we are not seeing, otherwise it does not bode well for a successful relationship. I can't imagine having to have your first ever relationship until your parents' microscope, as well as on TV. Yikes.

slasherboy I wish I had been involved in something so diverting while watching the Phoenix show. They were something else. she had periodic extreme vocal fry, they totally disagreed with each other's taste and he was downright rude about it, and he kept going on about hating desert landscaping. To which I yelled at the TV several times, "then don't live in f**@ing Phoenix!" He, in particular, was a quintessentially entitled HO.

I can only see Benson's psychiatrist as Nate Haskell so that sort of ruins him for me. And I, too, miss B.D. Huang. He was a good character.
