  1. I feel like the dog is significant, but I'm not sure why. The dog in the Jack London story lived and his human died, so I'm confused. I try to be charitable about the stupid things these people do because I realize they haven't been watching 5 seasons of TWD, so there's that. And it's common in horror flicks for the characters to do foolish things, but these people are beyond the pale. I really want to root for someone, but after 3 episodes, I'm still not there. I hated when Madison just stared when Liza tried to make nice with her. And then came up with that ridiculous line about how it would break Travis to have to kill her. Well, I bet it would break Travis to have to kill the mother of his child too! He even said something about having 2 wives in the house. Such an odd comment. Hmmm - maybe I'm rooting for Liza. Which probably means she's toast next episode. I think the writers want us to find the Clark family completely amazing and I just don't. I am fairly interested in the Salazars, but I think it will break the barber to have to put down his own wife and that seems inevitable. I do think the Monopoly game informed us how close the Clarks once were and that Mr. Clark probably died in an accident while they were all playing Monopoly and waiting for him to come home. That scene was okay. I also thought that when Patrick embraced Susan and she was killed, the way she fell was almost as if she was returning his embrace. That was well done and so very sad. Also sad to think of that little girl who waved to Nick being alone in her house. Someone upthread mentioned how sad to think of all the vulnerable people including children and babies in the hospital. The military is terrifying and I do believe we are well set up for next week for our group of 9 (probably soon to be 8) to begin working together to get free of the military. I hope Tobias works his way to their house and helps them to escape. I'm hanging in here and hoping things improve.
  2. People are "starting to wise up" - we've been there for awhile! http://www.rawstory.com/2015/09/people-wise-up-fans-starting-to-think-duggar-daughters-donation-funded-mission-is-just-a-scam/
  3. That is a great idea. That might be the one thing that would make Anna leave him.
  4. I've been watching them on YouTube. There are full episodes from both seasons.
  5. I watched quite a few episodes this weekend and the Bates family is charming compared to the Duggars! I love that the kids have personalities and true sibling interactions. I love that Kelly tries to foster relationships (not duties) between the ones who are years apart. I think it's hilarious that Jeb is so spoiled. So is Josie, but Jeb is spoiled with love, I think, not due to lazy parenting. I love how Gil and Kelly love their grandchildren and are able to see their children as individuals. Because I like this family, I worry that it is so large. It's really hard to keep track of that many children. I expect the tunnel to collapse. I expect the swingset to roll down the hill (full of swinging kids). I expect one to get left behind somewhere. I expect a tumble off the balcony at the cabin, or for one or two to get stuck in the elevator for hours. I could never be responsible for so many!
  6. I think Brandon is shy and very aware of the cameras. That said, he went to a lot of effort to make the proposal meaningful to his very sensitive fiancee. I thought it was very sweet. OTOH, as much as I love Kelly - she went overboard nagging him to propose, imo. Previous episode, I think - when they were in Chicago. She just wouldn't let it drop. I'm sure she'll be the same about babies the second the ink is dry on the marriage certificate. I'm a mom of 3 married daughters and you don't nag about when they will get married and you don't nag about babies. It's their life!
  7. Jana is not keeping sweet! Hey, Jessa - it's snowing down south!
  8. If Derick is dissing Josh, then good for him! Maybe J'Boob will shoot himself in the foot where his daughters are concerned. He handed them off to a new headship and if Derick wants to live thousands of miles away from JB & Michelle, then they have to accept it. After all, they have taught their daughters that it is their duty to acquiesce to their husband's wishes. Distance from the mothership is the best thing for them. Maybe all the girls will cleave and leave. Take that, Jim Bob! Although I doubt he'll ever let poor Jana go.
  9. I would hate for my FB posts to suddenly appear in a jillion different "news" venues (the quotes are because every news organization just cuts and pastes these days - I definitely consider it news or I wouldn't be here!) with poor grammar and swearing at strangers, I'd be mortified. I understand his caring for his sister and I do believe he's right in his assessment of Josh as a pig who is only sorry he got caught. But the latest on Daniel's FB post is the same story with the same mistakes over and over and over. I hope we hear something that is actually new soon. I especially hope that it's that Anna has left Josh!
  10. Josh's actions show that their ridiculous lifestyle doesn't work. Certainly not for him anyway and probably not for more of the kids down the line. He should get real and stop trying to pretend to be something he isn't. He doesn't want to be married. If he truly has one iota of feeling for his "precious" wife, he should let her go, with the kids and the bulk of their money. Then he can go do all the screwing around he wants to do (with consenting adults) and stop pretending to be a Godly Christian. He's not. He's just an average schlub who was never meant to be a husband. If he is interested in his kids, then he can have visitation.
  11. I've seen this same story in different venues. Lazy reporting - just copying and pasting!
  12. I listened to Mark Maron's WTF podcast interview with Jason Bateman. Jason described the episode that got him adopted by Charles Ingalls - the horrifying wagon over the cliff death scene. He didn't really say anything else about LHoTP except that he worked for a whole season from about age 10. Oh! And he described Michael Landon rehearsing a scene with him in Landon's trailer, a scene where he had to cry.
  13. Izzy is sacked out and he's probably comfortable. I don't think it's a big deal. They look happy and Derick looks better without the stache. I just hope they are safe there. And that they continue to stay the heck away from Jim Bob.
  14. Not just the Duggars. Religion seems to be so political in general now. I attended a LCMS service this past Sunday, my first in years. The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod of my youth was not at all political, but as GEML has mentioned, politics mixed in starting in the late 70s. It's now reached the point where it all seems political to me. We used to go to church to worship, not to be lectured on politics and I never felt as I do today, that I don't belong. It's sad. I think the Duggars talk more about politics than they do the Gospel. People like the Duggars are very focused on boasting of their "good works," as if that will get them into heaven and keep others out.
  15. I had the impression that John's memory of Caroline's over the top reaction was one of those one sided - she was nuts, I was the adult - not quite accurate memories.
  16. I think it's entirely possible that Jessa and Ben are keeping the information about the baby's gender for themselves, just as they did their first kiss.
  17. If Molly went to the bar because she wanted to run into her alien son, that might make sense. (What a crazy sentence!) But she specifically seemed to be telling Toby that wasn't the case and surely that's true, since she nearly made out with her alien son. So I would like to know why, in the midst of all that is going on in her life, would she go to a singles bar to pick up a stranger? Makes no sense!
  18. When that gunfight first started, it felt familiar, like I'd seen it before - with the shooter in the window and the explosion. Maybe on Justified?
  19. I haven't watched 19K&C in years, but yesterday I watched a few videos of Priscilla and Anna talking, Anna & Josh on their trip to CA (and then home for the big gender reveal) and Michelle and Priscilla purposing to encourage some women who were attending some conference. Oh, and I also watched a bit of that last pre-scandal interview in the Duggar home, where Anna cried and blamed it on hormones and where many here thought that all the adults knew that Josh's scandal was about to break. I came away with some observations. 1. Anna is really a sweet and loving person and a good mother. I feel terrible for her. She and Josh actually seemed in a good place there right before everything blew up. 2. Priscilla is a loon. She certainly does blather on and on about nothing. She seems like a total doormat. She seems to ape Michelle's baby talk and take it to new levels. She out-Michelles Michelle! 3. Jim Bob is a dim bulb and John David seems sick of the whole fame thing. 4. Posters here have a good handle on how wacked out all of this ATI stuff really is. It sets the cause of women's rights back hundreds of years. It's dangerous and frightening, especially when they go into politics and try to control others. I was thinking this morning that I get why people look fondly back on the 50s as a more innocent time. But in reality, societies evolve and you can't force people back in time or force them to adhere to your way of thinking. Bottom line is that these people are free to live how they choose (minus the rape culture or other law breaking), but guess what? They don't get to tell me or anyone else how they should live! My heart breaks for Anna and those cute kids.
  20. Wow! The book "Devoted" is coming out just in time to maybe help shine a light on the dangers of the "modesty" culture. Good for the author.
  21. I'm glad the non-sister victim decided to sue Josh. Since she was a minor too when the molestation took place, she was subject to the decision of her parents regarding prosecution (non prosecution in this case). Now she can decide for herself how to handle it and good for her for making him face the consequences of his aberrant actions.
  22. This is pretty funny. http://skidmarking.com/2015/06/i-guarantee-my-summer-break-sucks-worse-than-yours-a-guest-post-by-ma-ingalls.html
  23. So Wylie (whose eyelashes are very distracting) takes her baby with just a carrier, no diaper bag that I saw. She's not nursing the baby, so what is he eating? Where are his diapers. And she decides to spend what would have been her first real day with him....without him. Going hunting. These characters are just bizarre.
